2022 Chevy Tahoe Receives a Production Date

A revamped 2021 Chevy Tahoe was introduced recently, bringing the iconic SUV to its fifth generation. Now, GM is preparing to work on a 2022 Chevy Tahoe that will hopefully surpass its predecessor. Starting October 4th, 2021, GM will begin production on the next iteration of the large SUV. The only question is, how will GM improve upon its acclaimed 2021 Chevy Tahoe? According to the Chevrolet site, “you make it the most versatile and advanced Tahoe ever– with a bigger, more spacious cabin, better ride and handling, and a commanding presence that’s impossible to ignore.”

The 2021 Chevy Tahoe recently underwent a makeover that added more passenger and cargo room. Alongside this, the full-size SUV got a cabin and interior redesign along with an improved infotainment system. Capable of fitting 8 people, the revamped 2021 Chevy Tahoe offers a lot for those who enjoy a powerful but comfortable SUV.

Since the 2021 Chevy Tahoe received major changes and improvements recently, new additions to the 2022 model are likely to be minor. Either new colors or additions to the instrument cluster and infotainment system can be expected.

Speculation About the 2022 Chevy Tahoe

Speculation around the 2022 Chevy Tahoe has given way to several theories: 1) GM makes a 2022 Chevy Tahoe that has true all-terrain capabilities, 2) GM makes a 2022 Chevy Tahoe that is off-road oriented, 3) GM makes a 2022 Chevy Tahoe that is performance-tuned. Whichever direction GM decides to take, Chevy Tahoe fans will not be disappointed.

The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe will likely use the new T1 platform that was introduced in 2019. Used for the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the T1 platform was a newly engineered platform intended for full-size body-on-frame models. If the 2022 Chevy Tahoe makes use of this platform,  it will enjoy better handling and stability.

The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe will likely feature a similar engine to the 2021 Tahoe. A 5.4L V9 L84 gasoline engine comes standard from the EcoTec3 family. It comes with a rating of 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Chevy Tahoe trims like the High Country level will most likely feature a 6.2L V8 L87 exclusive engine. It will come with 420 horsepower and 460lb-ft of torque. The rest of the trims except for the Z71 will offer a 3.0L I6 LM2 turbo-diesel Duramax which will offer 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. All three engines will come with GM’s Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive will be standard on most trims except for the Z71. There may also be an option for four-wheel drive on certain trims.

2022 Chevy Tahoe Trims

Those interested in the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe will be happy to know that several distinct trims will be available. For those seeking an off-roader style SUV, the Z71 trim will be ideal. Starting at $60,495 MSRP (plus destination fee), the Z71 will come with four-wheel drive and off-road-ready features like a heavy-duty air filter, recovery hooks, a transfer case, and 20-inch all-terrain tires.

The High Country trim will be good for those seeking a more performance-oriented SUV. Starting at $69,700 MSRP (plus destination fee), the High Country trim will feature a more powerful 6.2L V8 engine. It will also come with 22-inch wheels, a 15-inch head-up display, rear pedestrian alerts, and an HD surround vision camera.

The Premier trim is for those looking for a higher standard of comfort and luxury. Starting at $63,895 MSRP (plus destination fee), the Premier trim comes with features like magnetic ride control and power tilt steering. It will feature an 8-inch driver information display and some advanced safety features like lane-keep assist and lane-change alerts.

As indicated by Q1 2021 sale numbers, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe has quickly become a fan favorite in the full-size SUV sector. With over 23,000 units sold, the Chevy Tahoe managed to secure a place at the top. Now with the announcement of a new 2022 Chevy Tahoe in the works, GM is hoping to further its lead in the SUV market.

Chevrolet Announces the Return of the Trailblazer

The Chevy Blazer may have just been rebooted for the 2019 model year, but Chevrolet is already thinking ahead and has announced the return of the Trailblazer to its lineup for the 2021 model year. Just like the Blazer, the TrailBlazer will make its return as a crossover as Chevrolet is keen to cater to the current automotive market’s demands. Chevrolet stated that the small CUV will occupy the lineup space between the Trax and the Equinox once it hits showrooms in early 2020. Experts expect the Trailblazer to be similar in size to the Nissan Rogue Sport, while the new Blazer will remain a five-passenger CUV slotted above the Equinox.

Back in the day, the Trailblazer used to be a body-on-frame 4×4 SUV and was originally just a trim level of the Blazer until it spun off as its own model. Although the Trailblazer was discontinued more than a decade ago, Chevrolet still offers a Colorado platform-based SUV with the same namesake in foreign markets. Chevy hasn’t provided any technical specifications as of yet, including the kind of drivetrain the Trailblazer is destined to have.

Here’s what we do know so far: the Trailblazer will come standard with advanced safety features such as lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. There will also be a sporty RS trim available that’ll include unique styling and a two-tone paint job. Chevrolet did not disclose if the RS trim will also feature any performance upgrades, but it’s unlikely that it’ll only sport the RS badge without some performance perks.

Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet passenger car and crossover marketing, said “The Trailblazer’s great design enables more personalization. Trailblazer is a continuation of the design language for Chevy’s crossover family and extends our momentum into one of the industry’s fastest-growing segments.”

Since the Trailblazer is expected to slot between the Equinox and the Trax, experts believe that it’ll likely offer buyers a choice between Chevy’s 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine or the 2.0-liter turbo-four. Both engines are likely candidates for the new Trailblazer that’s sure to be offered with both a front-wheel-drive or an all-wheel-drive option. Others believe that at the very least the base trim of the upcoming Trailblazer could be powered by the same engine that’s under the hood of the Trax – a 1.4-liter turbo four-pot. The company’s nine-speed automatic transmission is expected to be used as well.

Chevrolet will announce pricing and full information closer to the Trailblazer’s on-sale date. Expect the Trailblazer to arrive in dealers early 2020 for the 2021 model year. Follow Miami Lakes Chevy on social media to stay up to date on the latest Chevy news.

2019 Chevy Blazer RS

The latest Chevrolet SUV introduced into the family is here with bold, sophisticated styling inside and out. The RS features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which makes it the perfect two-row midsize SUV to fuel all of your journeys. Without a doubt, whether it’s a night out on the town or your daily commute, the RS can meet all of your needs.

The name was first used in a vehicle in 2005, and it’s been revived for this new car platform. The new crossover is new both inside and out. This time around the midsize vehicle is based more on Chevy’s car platform as opposed to it being based on their truck platform.

The Blazer RS has a more aggressive appearance thanks to its unique elements. The RS-specific items include dual exhaust outlets with rectangular chrome tips and hexagonal black mesh grille with RS badging. Other features are standard to the Blazer but not exclusive, such as the black roof rails, black window trim, and black badging.

There are 20-inch wheels with 21-inches as an option as well. The “blacked out” theme continues in the interior with the black perforated leather-appointed seats with suede microfiber inserts and red accents. The available engine is the 3.6L V6 LGX engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission making it for 306 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque.

Included in the Blazer RS are backup camera, airbags, stability control system, tire pressure monitoring system, and a tire inflator kit. In the all-wheel-drive, there is an electrically heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a power programmable liftgate, an automatic rearview mirror, a keyless entry system, and rear parking assist system. The Blazer RS has adjustable sliding rear seats that seat 5.

As for entertainment, front and center in the dashboard is a standard, 8-inch Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system. The Infotainment 3 navigates and is very responsive to taps and swipes. For example, there is a shortcut bar along the bottom of the screen which links back to the home screen and if you tap the 4G LTE bar which quickly jumps to the OnStar Wi-Fi hotspot controls.

A new feature that is subtle for the Infotainment 3 is the ability to register and save individual profiles such as storing radio presets to software preferences to application logins on a per-driver basis. That means Spotify playlist, shortcuts and, addresses can be kept separate from the rest of the divers since multiple driver profiles can be saved. There’s also an available wireless Qi phone-charging pad if you don’t want to plug in.

So how does the 2019 Chevy Blazer do in the gas department? The Blazer’s base engine is EPA-rated at 22/27/24 mpg city/highway/combined, and it’s available only in front-wheel-drive form. The optional V-6 can come with front- or all-wheel drive and the front-drive models are rated at 20/26/22 mpg, while the AWD version is 18/25/21 mpg.

With the Blazer RS being named a “sporty” vehicle it should win over buyers who have been skeptical about switching to an SUV thanks to its responsive handling. Hamodia.com is stating that it’s “fun to drive” just like the front-wheel drive and large sedans automakers are ditching in favor of SUVs. The main competitors to The Blazer are most likely the Honda Passport, Ford Edge and Nissan Murano.

All Blazers come equipped with essential safety features, teen driver tools, LED daytime running lights, OnStar, and a government-mandated rear-view camera. The basic trim levels can be upgraded with a Driver Confidence package that includes blind spot and rear cross traffic monitors, lane change alert, and rear parking proximity alert. Chevrolet offers a three-year, or 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty on the 2019 Blazer, and coverage on the powertrain is five years or 60,000 miles.

The 2019 Chevy Blazer RS has a starting base price of $40,600 (plus destination fee).

Need a 9-passenger SUV? Try the Chevy Tahoe or Suburban

The Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban are two of the largest SUVs on the market. Performance + Fuel Economy

The 2016 Chevy Tahoe and the 2016 Chevy Suburban are powered by the same 5.3-liter EcoTec V8 engine that is paired to a six-speed shiftable automatic transmission. The engine and transmission combination produces 355 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque.

Based on the GM large SUV segment, the Tahoe and the Suburban both offer Best-in-Class fuel economies of 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. However, the Suburban has a longer range because it has a 31-gallon gas tank, whereas the Tahoe has a 26-gallon tank. Read the rest of this entry >>
