GM’s CEO Raves About The Upcoming Chevrolet Silverado EV

Monday, May 10th, 2021

GM’s CEO Comments On The Upcoming EV Silverado

General Motors recently conducted a Q1 financial report with investors, during which a Deutsche Bank analyst had specific questions regarding the brand’s Silverado EV. This prompted CEO Mary Barra to briefly give some insights about its highly anticipated truck.

“And again, we have incredible know-how in this company and how to do full-sized trucks and we’re taking that into an EV-propelled vehicle, and that I think is going to give us a winning formula. I’m excited to share that vehicle with everyone because it’s just stunning,” Barra commented.

Barra also added that GM expects to have a strong demand for its upcoming electric Silverado. She thinks that the Utilium platform could aid the company in obtaining leadership in the market.

Last month, Chevrolet confirmed rumors regarding the Silverado EV, as they plan on constructing the model apace with the GMC Hummer EV at the company’s Detroit-Hamtramck Factory Zero facility. Both trucks will reside on the Ultium platform, and the aim is for the green Silverado to have a range of about 400 miles or 644 kilometers.

“The vehicles coming from Factory Zero will change the world, and how the world views electric vehicles,” said GM President Mark Reuss when announcing the Silverado EV. “The GMC Hummer EV SUV joins its stablemate in the realm of true supertrucks, and Chevrolet will take everything Chevy’s loyal truck buyers love about Silverado — and more — and put it into an electric pickup that will delight retail and commercial customers alike.”

At the current moment, there is no word as to the arrival date of the electrified Silverado. However, seeing how it proceeds on a different platform than the gasoline model, it leaves room for significant styling changes between the two trucks.

Furthermore, GM is investing $2.2 billion into the Detroit-Hamtramck facility to develop the site into a major center for the company’s electric vehicle production.

More Fun Facts

  • Chevrolet’s first full-size electric truck won’t just be for public consumption, as both retail and fleet versions will be made available.
  • GM claims that you won’t have to worry about spending so much time charging and for only a few miles, as it’s expected for the upcoming Silverado to deliver 400 miles on a full charge.
  • As previously stated, America’s powerhouse automaker is embracing the “Made In The U.S.A” slogan by building the EV truck at GM’s Factory ZERO assembly plant, previously known as the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center. This is the company’s first EV-only assembly plant, and not only will it produce the Silverado and the Hummer, but also the Cruise Origin, which is an upcoming self-driving vehicle.

Chevrolet Proves That Its Design For Its Silverado 1500 Has True Buying Power

Wednesday, May 5th, 2021

The fourth-generation Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has reached its third year of stealing the hearts of pickup lovers everywhere. When this light-duty truck made its debut in 2019, it was praised by many for its design, which significantly contrasts with that of its third-generation model. Even though there have been some critics pointing out what they see as flaws in the styling, with some even using the term “sideburns” to describe the reason for their disdain. However, these sideburns have actually helped to increase sales rather than thwart them.

In a recent interview with car site, GM Authority, Bob Krapes, Director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing said “Research has shown that the number one reason to buy [the Silverado 1500] is design.”

In actuality, the design of the Silverado is the main reason why the pickup is presently the best-selling vehicle in its segment amid buyers with ages ranging from 18 to 34 in North America, as reported in January by GM Authority. While the styling may not be everyone’s preferred taste, it’s doing what it needs to in order to entice customers.

Krapes continued to say that the design has also allowed the Silverado to become the best-selling pickup truck amid Hispanic buyers in the States.

Also encompassing variants like Heavy Duty and Medium Duty pickups, the Silverado is the automaker’s top-selling model by a sizable margin. To put into perspective, 594,094 units of the Chevy truck were purchased in the States during the 2020 calendar year. That signifies 34 percent of the Chevrolet sales and 23 percent of total sales of GM. In truth, the Silverado and its corporate counterpart, the GMC Sierra, together outsold the highly-favored Ford F-Series by almost 60,000 units during that year. While one could argue that this achievement could be due to the F-Series making its way into its 14th generation during the very end of 2020, it still doesn’t take away from its win.

Unfortunately, Q1 of 2021 saw a dip in Silverado sales, surely due to the ongoing effects of the coronavirus pandemic and the worldwide semiconductor shortage. Yet and still, at 126,591 units for the first three months of the year, the pickup still made up for 30 percent of Chevrolet sales and 20 percent of GM sales in North America during that period. These numbers also indicate that if Silverado styling was largely unfavorable, it would have not seen much success.

At this current moment, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is available with the option of four body configurations, thusly:

  • Regular Cab, Long Bed
  • Double Cab, Standard Bed
  • Crew Cab, Short Bed
  • Crew Cab, Standard Bed

A Regular Cab, Short Regular Bed Silverado is constructed in the States but is only sold in the Middle East. However, GM Authority recently reported that there is still a possibility for these configurations making their way to the U.S. and Canada.

The automaker has also announced in early April that an electric Chevrolet Silverado will be constructed at the GM Factory Zero plant (previously known as GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant) along with the nearing GMC Hummer EV pickup and SUV.

General Motors Say That An Electric Silverado Is Coming Our Way

Monday, April 12th, 2021

Electric Chevrolet Silverado

General Motors (GM) recently announced that the Chevrolet division will bring forth its first-ever electric Silverado. This pickup truck will be constructed at the automaker’s Factory Zero assembly plant in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan. Mark Reuss, GM’s president, even confirmed that the GMC Hummer electric SUV (which was revealed this month) will also be built at the same location as the Silverado. Previously, the car company said that the Hummer pickup, as well as the Cruise Origin, would also be made at the Factory Zero store. It is expected that the Hummer pickup will be introduced to the market sometime this year.

GM’s goal is to provide dealerships with over a million electric vehicles worldwide by 2025 and then win over the EV “market leadership in North America,” including that “with the company’s Ultium Platform, virtual development tools and technology, GM has reduced vehicle development times by nearly 50 percent to just 26 months.”

The automaker says that the electrified Silverado has been developed, though in and out, to be an electric vehicle. The company is also estimating that this truck will provide over 400 miles worth of range and all from a full charge, it will also be available for both retail and fleet buyers.

Reuss stated  Chevrolet takes “everything Chevy’s loyal truck buyers love about Silverado—and more—and puts it into an electric pickup that will delight retail and commercial customers alike.”

In January of last year, the automaker said that it was investing $2.2 billion in its Detroit-Hamtramck plant for the purpose of making several electric trucks and SUVs. GM retitled its plant to Factory Zero some months ago in order to convey its vision of a future without crashes, emissions, and congestion.

In fact, GM says Factory Zero is the “launchpad for GM’s multi-brand EV strategy. The facility has advanced technology and tooling and was designed with a focus on sustainable manufacturing.”

Additionally, Factory Zero will be getting significant renovations and upgrades, such as with “new machines, conveyors, controls, and tooling,” for the paint and body shops/general assembly areas.

Since last year, GM has made several announcements regarding its plans for an eco-friendly future, which also involves a modular propulsion system and an adaptive EV platform energized by proprietary Ultium batteries. The automaker has also said that it committed over $27 billion to electrics and autonomous vehicle development, encompassing $7 billion in 2021. The company intends to release 30 EVs worldwide towards the end of 2025, with over two-thirds available in the States. GM says that between Cadillac, GMC, Chevrolet, and Buick, GM will have EVs that range at all price points. Recently, the company announced its 2022 Bolt EUV and Bolt EV, which are expected to arrive in dealerships this summer.

Last January, GM revealed BrightDrop, their new business that seeks to charge up and advance the delivery of goods and services through its systematic offering of electrical first-to-last-mile products, software, and services. The purpose is to help “empower delivery and logistics companies to move goods more efficiently.”

What’s more, this technology will reach over to fuel cells, as it will equip its Hydrotec fuel-cell power cubes to Navistar to utilize in its production model fuel-cell EV, a.k.a the International RHTM Series.

The automaker says that it will spend $2 billion on its Spring Hill, Tennessee, assembly plant to undertake the shift to GM’s third EV plant, alongside Factory Zero and Orion Assembly in Orion Township, Mich.

GM announced the construction of Ultium Cells LLC back in 2019. Cells LLC is a joint venture with LG Energy Solution to mass-produce battery cells in Lordstown, Ohio. According to the company, the facility’s $2.3 billion construction is currently in motion.

6 Reasons The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado Is A Revered Truck

Monday, June 15th, 2020

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 lineup enlists in the increasing number of considerably updated, bustling trucks newly released like that of Ford and Ram. All trims are great capabilities in categories regarding towing capacity, regular serviceability and advanced tech functions.

Here are 6 Reasons The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 Are Revered Trucks!

Powerful New V-8 Engine

Chevrolet worked some sort of enchantment beneath the sheet metal of the beefier versions of the heavy-duty Silverado models. This involves a new 6.6-liter gasoline-powered V-8 engine that pushes out a complete 401 of horsepower with 464 lb-ft of torque. The engine is as quiet as a mouse during its operation, even on while zooming on the highway.

Even More Powerful Diesel Power and Torque

The V-8 gasoline engine is a pretty impressive machine in its own right, however, the Silverado’s turbo-diesel engine has far more remarkable qualities. For starters, the 6.6-liter Duramax V-8 pushes out 445 horsepower and a mind-boggling 901 lb-ft of torque. Those who are in dire need of a truck that can pull some serious weight will find a friend in this particular model, especially with the combination of the accelerator. The collaboration of the 10-speed automatic transmission allows this hefty truck to thrust 0-60 mph in just 7.4 seconds.

Ground-Breaking Towing Capability

When armed properly, the Silverado 3500 working with the turbo-diesel V-8 reaches a maximum towing capacity of 35,500 pounds, which is exponentially mightier than this model’s best towing rating. As a matter of fact, this rating is so intense, a commercial driver’s license is required in order to fulfill the Silverado’s ultimate potential on public roads.

Tech That Gives You A Sixth Sense

Strength and pure fearlessness isn’t the only thing that a Supertruck needs, its the inside that counts too, more specifically the incredible tech features that the 2500 and 3500 offers. Optional features include a 15-camera system, which makes way for drivers to see every possible angle around the truck. The infotainment system is also very user-friendly with its simple display menus and visuals.

Wonderfully Fearsome Exterior Design

These hefty 2500 and 3500 trucks are nothing short of giants on wheels. The multi-leveled front lights and enormous grille instantly grabs your attention. Out back, a new bed dubbed DuraBed is included. The HD Silverado shows off a volume of 83.5 cubic feet with its long-bed option. The corner stops are also expanded to provide ease of access.

Standard exterior features include trailer-tow mirrors and a power-operated tailgate. 3500 HD’s that are paired with dual-rear-wheel setup help to provide the best towing.

Perfectly Made For Individual Needs

As with many pickups, the monster Silverado’s are made with a variety of different options for designs and layouts regarding the length of the cab, cargo bed size, the choice for the engine, and posh features. The starting price is around $36,000, (plus destination fee) for a rear-wheel-drive on the regular cab 2500, which also has a long-bed arrangement. Prices can easily push past $70,000 on the more lavish High Country trim with an all-wheel-drive and optional diesel engine. When it comes to selecting any car, especially a truck, choices definitely matter, and Chevrolet company offers more a few.

Is Chevy’s Supercharger its Off-Road Pickup Contender?

Friday, May 29th, 2020

Ever since Ford launched its Baja Raptor truck, there has been continuous talk from different companies claiming they brought forth an off-road pickup of their own, “only better and more ..” zzz…This little lie still has yet to become a reality, but in spite of the disappointing prospects from other automotive companies, Chevrolet is taking a crack at this challenge with a supercharged Silverado truck and according to some reports, may come relatively soon.

On Monday, May 11, TFLTruck claimed that General Motors is developing a version of its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine to squeeze between its new line of pickup trucks and SUVs. The automotive blog says this information comes from an anonymous source who is on the inside of the happenings in the power plant and says that it’s under consideration in spite of all of the chaos surrounding the current pandemic. This means that the hefty Silverado may have LT4 with 640 or 650 worth of horsepower, surpassing the Ford Raptor’s abilities. It is also claimed to be a worthy adversary in terms of its off-road skills.

On the other hand, the Muscle Cars and Trucks blog is reporting that there are rumors of the high-performance pickup by Chevrolet being put on a hiatus, also claiming that this information is from inside sources. According to the report, the only large truck that is in motion to obtain the LT4 is the Cadillac Escalade.

Additionally, one should know that despite a Silverado aiming to have high-performance capabilities, there could be a delay of sorts due to the circumstances of the worldwide COVID-19 crisis, which has caused quite a strain on many automakers and car suppliers. Regardless of contradicting reports of General Motors shelving its pick-up project, this is highly unlikely, especially since Ram affirmed its intentions to enter the rat race for light-duty performance trucks, therefore, it would be foolish for Chevy to back down now. This is especially in the company’s best interest to redeem itself after Ram practically wore a white dress at Chevy’s wedding as it took over its pickup sales last year; its time for revenge.

Another “maybe no, maybe so “ Chevy model is the Silverado “ZRX”, it has a powerful V8 engine with a turned out suspension, and possibly some diversity similar to that of the Multimatic DSSV from the Colorado ZR2. The company just had the ZR2 name trademarked, although it still isn’t clear when its debut or even production will come into fruition.

Miami Lakes Chevrolet

Only time will tell what plans General Motors actually has in store, but while you’re waiting, why not check out the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 at Miami Lakes Automall. This hefty hunk has an exterior that is very stylish and lots of options for configurations. Best of all this Superman-like truck has a boatload of powertrain choices that are promoted by a fuel-saving Duramax diesel. The diesel engine is rich in torque and also has a very quick and energetic 6.2-liter V-8 engine.

It’s also recommended to opt for the 2020 Silverado’s Trailboss trim, it has great off-road options and overall reliability, though other trims are also very capable. 5 Great Features About The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado

Friday, May 8th, 2020

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is no doubt an all-time classic, in fact, it is so recognizable that it has been listed as one of the most popular trucks on various websites. Simply put, when most people think of the word ‘truck’, they’ll immediately think of the Silverado. Twenty-two years after its first release in 1998, this hefty hunk is still hot stuff, as it has a very stylish exterior and lots of options for modifications. This half-ton stud has a plethora of powertrain choices that are promoted by a fuel-saving Duramax diesel that is rich in torque and also has a very quick and energetic 6.2-liter V-8 engine.

Those who aren’t used to driving trucks or really don’t care for them may be shocked to find how comfortable this year’s 1500 is and also how many high-tech features that it provides, like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assists.

Whether or not you are a truck enthusiast or simply a curious soul imaging tackling the tough grounds of the earth like those cool people in the commercials, the Silverado has plenty of impressive features that make a great contender for your car buying choices. Here Are 5 Great Features About The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado.

Boatload Of Options

One of the best things about the classic truck is that buyers will have a lot of choices when it comes to different types of configurations and personal preferences. For example, the Silverado has over half a dozen powertrain options, it also has three different vehicle arrangements, and as many as eight trims to pick from. This Chevy vehicle can be converted into a basic truck for work or something that most would say is close to luxury.

Superman Strength

The second and perhaps most important feature of the Silverado is its remarkable torque. Let’s face it, having good torque is why most truck buyers would want to buy the 1500 in the first place, because it’s good at its job. This bad boy can tow up to 13,400 lbs with particular configurations, which is an improvement from its 2019 version by 1,200 lbs. This year’s Silverado is capable of lugging up to 2,000 pounds on its bed. No matter engine you opt for you’ll still get an incredible amount of power, and choosing a basic 4-cylinder engine would still allow the vehicle to haul up to 7,000 lbs.

Safety Options

Some might be surprised that this truck, which is known for getting down and dirty, has a lot of cool options for safety technologies, such as forward-collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, and lane departure warnings. Best of all, it includes plenty of great standard features like Infotainment 3 system (operated through a 7-inch touch screen), Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, plus a 6-speaker audio system, one USB port and a 12-volt outlet.

Comfortable Crusin’

Another unexpected feature of the Silverado is that it is incredibly comfortable. In lower trims, even though cloth upholstery and certain options may seem scarce compared to the higher tiers, the truck still has a quiet and perhaps even a relaxing ride. Of course, most would feel more comfortable in a higher trim since it has lots of leather, power conveniences, and more tech-options.

Its TrailBoss Trim Will Give You A Run For Your Money

Last but not least, a feature that makes the 2020 Silverado so great is its incredible Trailboss trim that comes off swingin’. This trim is a recommend for most buyers interested in 1500 because of its remarkable off-road option (also available for Custom and LT trims), it comes with two-inch factory suspension lift, a locking rear differential, skid plates, Rancho monotube shocks, hill descent control, and 18-inch wheels with Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires.

All in all, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a capable truck in every sense of the word. Luckily, Miami Lakes Automall has a variety of these models in its possession with different styles and trims, and most that cost under $40,000, (plus destination fee). Those who are interested in this vehicle can view our new online car inventory and chat with an online representative for more information.
