Chevrolet To Add More Fuel Efficient Powertrain For Traverse

General Motors (GM) has revamped one of their powertrains and removing an engine option for the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. GM announced they have moved on from the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine found as an option in the Chevrolet Traverse, leaving the 3.6-Liter V6 engine as the only powertrain currently available for the midsize SUV. The four-cylinder engine is still available in the latest Chevrolet Malibu and Cadillac ATS, but in the Chevrolet Traverse, it surprisingly didn’t provide anything to truly separate its self from the more powerful V6. Let us share all the details about the new changes.

More On the Upcoming Powertrain

This move will change once General Motors finalizes their upcoming engine, expected to be a 2.0-Liter inline-four with a twin-scroll turbocharger. The new powertrain will be an upgrade over the previous turbocharged engine, adding better fuel economy ratings. In a current climate where buyers are more wary of a vehicle’s gas mileage than ever before, it’s the right call by GM to make sure they provide an improvement in such a critical area. The upcoming twin-scroll turbocharger is expected to hit 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The best part about this engine is the ability to save gas by turning off the two of the four cylinders. The debut will come first with the 2019 Cadillac XT4 before it will come out for the Traverse. The new powertrain will include a remarkable 26 combined highway and city mpg; something all customers are sure to love.

The Future of the Chevrolet Traverse

The 2019 Chevrolet Traverse is a popular three-row SUV that will gain a new engine at some point in 2019. The expectation is that this engine will deliver better performance and fuel economy than the 2.0-Liter turbo-four that produced 257 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The remaining powertrain, the 3.6-Liter V6, supplies  310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. The report by GM Authority says the reason they opted to remove the second engine, which was only available for front-wheel-drive RT trim, is because both engines were close enough in output and efficiency and the smaller engine wasn’t needed.

First available for the front-wheel-drive RS version of the second-generation 2018 Chevy Traverse, the departed powertrain was not the main focus of the Traverse. The latest Chevrolet Traverse is an upgrade over the prior year. This is thanks to more cargo room added, losing 350 pounds and looking sharper both inside and out. The available 10-speaker Bose sound system raises the infotainment technology value. For any family that wants a vehicle that provides a great driving experience and an attractive full-size SUV, look no further than the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse.

Miami Lakes Automall 2019 Chevrolet Silverado Configurator Build

Are you ready for your own 2019 Chevrolet Silverado? An icon of the automaker, this pickup truck has made a name for itself over the last 100 years. The Chevrolet Silverado even got a special Centennial Edition in 2017, commemorating 100 years of Chevy pickup trucks. 100 years, and the good news still keeps pouring in. For one thing, Chevrolet has introduced a special edition for the 2019 model year that literally give us goosebumps – the 2019 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss Z71 turned into the Chevrolet Hennessey Goliath. Now, with the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado heading to dealerships, consumers can finally build their own.

Building Your 2019 Chevrolet Silverado

Although shipped out, the 2019 Chevy Silverado is currently being delivered in low quantity (as of November 8, 2018). Dealership lots will receive more as orders are placed, but for now, enjoy the thought of building one. Known as the “all-new” Silverado, being in its fourth generation for 2019, the configurator (bit.ly/2DtM9y1) has been designed to show off some of the new features and available options, like modern technology or an off-road package.

Although the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado has a starting MSRP of $28,300 (plus destination fee), the first build to pop up in the configurator is for $49,795 (plus destination fee). This will give consumers an idea of the differences something as simple as the cab size, drivetrain, or engine can make, before even a trim is chosen. The default setup is a double cab with a standard bed, four-wheel drive, and the 5.3-liter EvoTec V8 engine with Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM). Changing either of these will show the consumer the new net price in the top right in real-time.
