Chevrolet Surpasses Ram In Pickup Sales

Friday, July 17th, 2020

2020 has not been a banner year for automotive sales, but the Chevrolet Silverado has rebounded quite well from last year. The Chevrolet brand has finished second to XYZ so far through the first two quarters of 2020. Chevrolet sold a grand total of 267,166 Silverado pickups from January through June this year. The light-duty Silverado was more popular over the heavy-duty models, with over 200,000 of those sales going to the light-duty variant. Surprisingly, the Silverado saw higher sales in some parts of the United States when compared to the same stretch in 2019. Let’s talk about the plans for Chevrolet given its growth so far this year.

Breaking Down the Numbers of the Silverado Sales

The good news for the Chevy brand is its rival brand Ram saw an 18 percent decline over the first six months of 2020. Ram sold 246,253 pickups, exactly 20,913 models less than Chevrolet. This would not be a surprise to Silverado owners. Even Ford has seen an 18 percent drop from last year. That news is definitely a shock as Ford just introduced its 14th generation Ford F-150 model. But, the growth of the Chevrolet Silverado might see new peaks and sustaining its popularity going into the future.

Chevy Expands Safety Features Across All Vehicles

Where will Chevrolet take the Silverado for the 2021 model year and beyond? The interior is rumored to gain an update with a mid-cycle enhancement and refresh coming to the full-size pickup. The safety features will see enhancements including standard features across all trims. Chevrolet lists these features as Active Safety features that include Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Forward Collision Alert.

Further down the line, some reports suggest the 2022 Silverado might gain the same center stack as the all-new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban offer. Chevrolet is planning to expand its safety features across the board of its lineup, including the 2021 Malibu. While we wait for the news to break regarding the 2021 Silverado debuting at dealerships, we have plenty of new 2020 Silverado models ready to go at Miami Lakes Automall.

The half-ton pickup landscape has a lot to offer customers looking for a solid choice. Among the vehicles are great choices, but we’re certain many drivers would prefer the new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado. In fact, the Chevy brand can’t seem to build their collection of Silverado trucks fast enough to meet demand. The report regarding Chevy handling their production side came from GM Authority, which commented on how successful the Silverado is selling towards the end of 2019. The evidence can be found in the 40 percent increase in the Silverado HD sales from this year compared to 2018.

“Our customers love these new models. We can’t build the new ones fast enough. The response has been positive. They show up and they disappear,” said Silverado Marketing Manager Hugh Milne.

Chevy Sees Success For More Than Just the Silverado 1500

The Chevrolet brand has kept the previous model, the 2019 Silverado, on lots. While those older models are still being pushed, their new 2020 Silverado models are selling like wildfire alongside the older models. Chevrolet is also proud to push its heavy-duty Silverado lineup.

Drivers can find the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 beginning at $35,695 MSRP (Plus destination fee) and the base model Silverado 3500 starts at $36,895 MSRP (Plus destination fee).

The Silverado 2500 offers drivers with outstanding strength, holding a maximum towing capacity of 18,500-pounds that can get nearly any job done with. For business owners that are truly looking to add some intense power can opt for the Silverado 3500 that supplies 35,500 pounds of a maximum towing capacity. Owners of these pickups will note how easy its become to use a hitch with the slew of cameras and direct angles that show how to park, reverse and connect the truck to a hitch easily.

The 2020 Silverado Is Ready For Customers

Whether a driver wants to opt for a refined driving experience or wants to be able to produce real results for their field, they can rely on the latest Silveardo line-up. The latest Chevrolet Silverado packages have arrived as well. In regards to the production of the Silverado pickups going forward, Barry Engle, the GM President of the Americas since April 1st, 2019 had this to offer customers.

“Given our limited availability, we deliberately launched with a really high mix in trims. But as we get broader availability and get the full portfolio out there, we’ll be just fine,” -Engle, GM President of Americas.

Witness the strength and power in the driver’s seat of the new Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. Inside Chevrolet’s new heavy-duty Silverado, owners will note how the 2020 Silverado 2500HD has become stronger and larger overall. Equipped under the hood with a Duramax 6.6-Liter turbodiesel V8 that packs 445 horsepower and a healthy 910 lb-ft of torque, this Silverado maximizes strength owners require. Drivers will note the impressive acceleration offered inside this massive pickup and so much more about this new Silverado 2500HD. Allow us to break down all the facts and components that make the latest Chevrolet heavy-duty pickup a must-have.

Just How Fast and Strong Is the Silverado 2500HD

Owners can readily embrace its 6.5-second 0-60 time, which is leagues ahead of the competition. By comparison, the 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty made a time of 7.1 seconds, and the 2019 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty is nearly two seconds slower at 8.4 seconds. Chevy has found a way to move the 2500HD’s 8,353-pound curb weight thanks to the remarkable powertrain paired to the new 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. Gain unmatched torque with the massive18,500-pound tow rating.

“What an amazingly quick truck. With the driveline set to auto (4WD), this HD leaps off the line like an all-wheel-drive sports car,” said Chris Walton, MotorTrend Road Test Editor.

Improvement Over the Previous Generation

The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD has improved upon its self. With four more gears and the ability to tow more trailer weight, up to 12,500 pounds. There is 3-inch more rear-seat legroom and a 5-inch longer wheelbase. There’s a new 6.6-Liter gas engine with direct ignition. This new gas powertrain can tow 18% more than the previous Silverado 2500HD. Many would believe that with its fast acceleration and large size, this Silverado 2500HD has a 60mph to zero stopping distance of just 134 feet. That’s a refined change compared to the 2017 Silverado 2500HD, which can brake to a halt at 146 feet. Comparing the new 2500HD to the F-250’s remarkably longer 160 feet.

Nice Features To Go With Its Remarkable Strength

Not just a strong pickup, owners can find refinement inside the new Silverado 2500HD. The LTZ trim adds heated and cooled driver and passenger bucket seats, a LOUD upgraded audio system, and extended soft-touch trim throughout the interior. The 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen is clear and responsive; owners can quickly lookup brake pad life, engine hours, and much more. A new camera system is remarkable for owners as the Silverado 2500HD has two extra rear bumper plugs for extra cameras as well as up to 15 camera views through the mirrors, cab, and tailgate that gives a great view through the trailer. What’s not to like with all the strength, improved interior and look? Come find the latest Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with us at Miami Lakes Automall today.

Chevrolet is getting closer to revealing their latest pickup. News about this Silverado HD has been coming out bit by bit, but Chevrolet has not given very many details about this upcoming phenomenon. One thing is for sure, there’s going to be a lot of drivers clamoring to drive this all-new Silverado when it arrives. The pickup looks large and lives up to the HD “Heavy-Duty” moniker. The 2020 Silverado HD includes a Duramax turbo diesel V8 engine that gains a new 10-speed automatic gearbox, a new gasoline engine with direct injection and a wider, roomy cabin is also expected for this product.

What Else To Expect

Chevrolet has spent a lot of time and effort strengthening and redefining their brand. While many automakers have tried, few have walked away with something as strong and menacing as what the new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD looks like. The 2020 Silverado HD stands out thanks to an enormous front grille, boldly displaying the Chevrolet bowtie. The chiseled hood features a detailed, chrome-trimmed design and all expectations are this Silverado will contain plenty of power and towing capacity.

“We set out to make a statement with the 2020 Silverado HD and wanted to visually capture the power and capability of the truck. The result is a truck that looks like a piece of heavy machinery with modern, chiseled finishes and customer-focused details,” said Brian Izard, the pickup’s lead exterior designer.

Off-Road Adventures Await In the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado Bison ZR2

Chevrolet’s 2019 Colorado ZR2 Bison is a new off-road truck that was made in part with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV). This is a vehicle that carries 5 new standard skid plates that offer undercarriage protection to keep the engine oil pan, fuel tank, transfer case, and both differentials. These skid plates are durable because they are made out of hot stamped boron steel. With this protection, owners of the new Colorado ZR2 Bison can feel comfortable going off road like no other pickup is capable of! New front and rear bumpers are made of steel with the front bumper carrying fog lights and the rear lights having attachment points for recovery, in case the vehicle falls into a situation where a driver needs help getting pulled out.

The latest Colorado ZR2 Bison has new larger fender flares, a unique grille that lists Chevrolet, is spread across the grille. The Bison carries style throughout with badges including the ZR2 Bison logo on the sides of the truck bed with the AEV logo on the headrests inside the truck and the logo is on the back of the tailgate. New 17-inch wheels with 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires. All the ZR2 Bison pickups are strong and make an impression on anyone looking at one.

Just How Strong Is the Powertrain?

Owners can go with one of two choices for their engines on the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison. The first option choice is the legendary 3.6-Liter Pentastar gas engine that gets owners 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque or a 2.8-Liter Diesel powertrain with 186 horsepower and an impressive 369 lb-ft of torque. This is a very strong vehicle that gets 5,000 pounds of towing capacity. If that doesn’t make an owner happy, finding out the perks that come standard will.

Handle the Off-Road Trails With Ease

A remarkable 8.9” ground clearance, this will help make the ZR2 Bison pickup capable of handling any rocky terrain and gives owners confidence when taking roads less traveled. Stay comfortable while driving the Bison ZR2 with a strong suspension that provides a stable feeling on any road. Rock crawling is something that is possible with a 30-degree approach angle and locking differentials that provide a remarkably stable ride throughout. Strong tires like the ones that come standard on the Colorado ZR2 Bison are able to grab the terrain and let drivers feel confident taking their pickup nearly anywhere. Starring in 2019 when the Bison debuts, there’s no reason why any one’s off-road dreams can’t begin!
