The subcompact Chevrolet Trax was first introduced to us in 2015 and quickly warmed the hearts of SUV lovers, and since then it’s become one of the brand’s most popular cars. This crossover also shares platform space with the fan-favorite Buick Encore. The Trax received a significant styling change in 2017, gaining much inspiration from the automaker’s Malibu car. However, one feature that hasn’t changed is the Trax’s 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. As a matter of fact, Chevy hasn’t changed its engine since it’s first debut, so it’s safe to say that the 139-horsepowered machine is considered pretty ancient in automotive years. While its performance is considered decent enough, it needs a little extra pep in its step in order to continue competing well, and it appears that Chevrolet agrees.
GM Authority states that the 2021 Chevy Trax will finally ditch the 1.4-liter turbo and replace it with a spanking new version of the engine with the same displacement.
This new turbo, dubbed LE2, is not only more current but far more energetic and powerful than before with 152 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. It’s worth noting, however, that loyal followers of the brand might be familiar with this engine, as it used to power the Cruze car (which is now discontinued), where it was geared with an automatic start/stop system. Additionally, there have been some reports that claim that the 2021 Trax will not have this function, but Chevrolet has not yet released specific details.
Taking into account the age of the Trax, and the introduction of its big brother, the 2021 Trailblazer, one might not have expected the company to have vested much interest in a new engine. This tactic seems even more perplexing since it appears that these crossovers will be in competition with one another. On the other hand, it could be a genius idea, since these crossovers would cater to a different type of audience.
Some car sites like Car Buzz have made the argument that based on market research, the subcompact crossover segment is presently splitting into two separate groups, one being buyers who are looking for something more wallet-friendly as opposed to those who prioritize luxury. The Trax seems best suited to budget-focused groups, especially since it has a starting price of $21,300, (plus destination fee). The company’s rationale might be that both models have different advantages for different buyers, therefore attracting more customers.
The latest Trax doesn’t need to pay much attention to the Trailblazer anyway because it’s real competition is the Ford EcoSport and Nissan Kicks. Meanwhile, the Trailblazer’s will fight to the death with its rivals, the Jeep Renegade and Toyota CH-R.

The Chevy Blazer may have just been rebooted for the 2019 model year, but Chevrolet is already thinking ahead and has announced the return of the Trailblazer to its lineup for the 2021 model year. Just like the Blazer, the TrailBlazer will make its return as a crossover as Chevrolet is keen to cater to the current automotive market’s demands. Chevrolet stated that the small CUV will occupy the lineup space between the Trax and the Equinox once it hits showrooms in early 2020. Experts expect the Trailblazer to be similar in size to the Nissan Rogue Sport, while the new Blazer will remain a five-passenger CUV slotted above the Equinox.
Back in the day, the Trailblazer used to be a body-on-frame 4×4 SUV and was originally just a trim level of the Blazer until it spun off as its own model. Although the Trailblazer was discontinued more than a decade ago, Chevrolet still offers a Colorado platform-based SUV with the same namesake in foreign markets. Chevy hasn’t provided any technical specifications as of yet, including the kind of drivetrain the Trailblazer is destined to have.
Here’s what we do know so far: the Trailblazer will come standard with advanced safety features such as lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. There will also be a sporty RS trim available that’ll include unique styling and a two-tone paint job. Chevrolet did not disclose if the RS trim will also feature any performance upgrades, but it’s unlikely that it’ll only sport the RS badge without some performance perks.
Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet passenger car and crossover marketing, said “The Trailblazer’s great design enables more personalization. Trailblazer is a continuation of the design language for Chevy’s crossover family and extends our momentum into one of the industry’s fastest-growing segments.”
Since the Trailblazer is expected to slot between the Equinox and the Trax, experts believe that it’ll likely offer buyers a choice between Chevy’s 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine or the 2.0-liter turbo-four. Both engines are likely candidates for the new Trailblazer that’s sure to be offered with both a front-wheel-drive or an all-wheel-drive option. Others believe that at the very least the base trim of the upcoming Trailblazer could be powered by the same engine that’s under the hood of the Trax – a 1.4-liter turbo four-pot. The company’s nine-speed automatic transmission is expected to be used as well.
Chevrolet will announce pricing and full information closer to the Trailblazer’s on-sale date. Expect the Trailblazer to arrive in dealers early 2020 for the 2021 model year. Follow Miami Lakes Chevy on social media to stay up to date on the latest Chevy news.

Chevrolet has enjoyed a good year for both innovative new vehicles and more acclaim for their craftsmanship. Chevy found success with their all-new 2019 Silverado 1500 and 2019 Chevy Trax. As 2018 draws to an end, let’s recap the latest Chevy vehicles that have come out. Let’s start with the all-new Chevrolet Silverado, a stunning example of one of the highlights in 2018 for Chevrolet. There’s something for everyone within the latest Chevy vehicles!
All-New 2019 Chevrolet Silverado
The newest Silverado from Chevrolet is an enhanced and well amplified light-duty pickup truck. The 2019 Silverado extended its bed size by 10 cubic feet from the former model and worked to claim the Best-in-class cargo volume, box length and box depth. Through the enhancement of their truck bed, new frame and overall interior, Chevy knew they had to name their truck bed to differentiate itself from other companies. They named the truck bed the Chevy Durabed and it is far more superior than what is offered from the competition in the pickup market. The Durabed is so strong it can endure 72518.9 pounds of pressure-per-square-inch, reaching over double the former Silverado rating from the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado truck.
Not only did the Durabed help raise the value of the all-new Silverado, owners have the choice of three available transmissions, (six, eight and 10-speed options). The Crew Cab models have increased the to over 500 pounds more with the maximum towing capacity up to 12,200 pounds with the 6.2-Liter V8 engine and four-wheel-drive. Owners will also have best-in-class box depth and box length at floor, with the standard box reaching 79 inches, 3 more than the Ford F-Series and Ram 1500. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado starts at $29,795 MSRP (plus destination fee) for the base model Work Truck. The most valuable, superior 2019 Silverado High Country begins at $54,495 MSRP (plus destination fee). Thanks to the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, Chevy has attracted many new customers. (more…)
If you are ready to finally trade-in the car that was given to you by your parents, and you want an SUV you may be feeling a little confused on which SUV you want to buy or lease. There are dozens of makes and models available and to see them all you would need to spend a ton of time driving around from dealership to dealership, unless you go to Miami Lakes Automall.
Miami Lakes Automall is one of the few dealerships in South Florida that has seven brands located in one location. We have vehicles made by Chevy, Mitsubishi, Kia, Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram, and each brand (except Ram and Chrysler) manufactures SUVs and crossovers.
Crossovers are one of the newest, fastest growing and most popular segments in the auto industry. Crossovers are versatile vehicles that offer space for passengers and cargo, but they are more fuel efficient and give drivers a little more control in comparison to a big vehicle like an SUV or truck.
Chevy manufactures two crossovers, the Chevy Equinox and the Chevy Trax. The Equinox was redesigned for the 2018 model year and it is available with a couple different engine options, including the new available diesel engine that gives the Equinox a highway fuel economy of 41 MPG.
The Fiat Chrysler Automobile umbrella includes four crossovers, three made by Jeep and one made by Dodge. The three available Jeep crossovers include the fun-to-drive Cherokee and modern new Compass and Renegade, and each of those models is available as a Trailhawk trim, which is a trim specifically designed for going off-road.
If warranty is an important feature to you, the crossovers made by Mitsubishi and Kia should definitely be on your list. Both Kia and Mitsubishi offer an industry-leading powertrain warranty of 100,000 miles or 10 years. Mitsubishi’s crossover is the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, and Kia makes two crossovers, the Kia Niro and the Kia Sorento. The Kia Niro is a new hybrid crossover that’s stylish and fuel efficient, and later this year, a plug-in hybrid electric version will be available.
If you are in need of a vehicle that can fit 5-7 people, is available with four-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive and has some towing power, an SUV may be the best option and Miami Lakes Automall has a large selection of SUVs.
Two of the largest SUVs on the market are made by Chevy and they are the Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban. Both models offer seating for up to nine passengers, more than 90 cubic feet of cargo space and a towing capacity of more than 6,600 pounds. If you want to stick with Chevy, but don’t need an SUV quite as large as the Tahoe or Suburban, there is also the available Chevy Traverse and Chevy Equinox.
Jeep is dedicated to SUVs and crossovers, and the full-size Jeep Grand Cherokee is the most awarded SUV on the market. This year the Grand Cherokee is celebrating its 25th anniversary and it is available in a number of different trims including the off-road trim, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, the luxury trim, the Grand Cherokee Summit, or the all-new 707-horsepower Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, which is the most powerful and quickest SUV ever.
Dodge only offers one SUV, the Dodge Durango, but it’s available with so many options that one SUV is all Dodge needs to offer. The Dodge Durango is available with two or three rows of seats and three different engine options. The available 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine gives the Durango a maximum towing capacity of 7,400 pounds, and the new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine boosts the Durango’s maximum towing capacity up to a best-in-class 8,700 pounds.

If you are interested in an SUV or CUV, look no further. Chevy offers five different SUVs with different features. But don’t worry, all five vehicles have been named to U.S. News and World Report’s list of Best Cars, so no matter your choice, you’ll be in good hands.
The Chevy Trax is Chevy’s smallest utility vehicle and it is a CUV. It is the perfect size for navigating tight city streets or going on long road trips. The 2017 Trax is a five-passenger CUV that has a 1.4-cylinder engine that pushes out 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque.
The Trax is equipped with fold down seats, including the passenger seat, so it is easy to maximize cargo space when needed. The 2017 Chevy Trax is one of the most affordable CUVs on the market with a starting price of $21,000. (more…)
