The new decade has arrived with impending changes bound to affect the automotive landscape. Changes include greater technology like what is found in the new 2020 Chevrolet Bolt. The latest Chevy EV nows joins a crowded field with the introduction of the Kia Niro EV, Hyundai Kona, Telsa Model 3 and Nissan Leaf, among others. The truth remains, few compare to what Chevy has included in the new 2020 Bolt. The range for the Bolt is now 259 miles, which is more than any of the vehicles listed above. The Bolt recharges at a superior rate that includes 4 mph with a 120V plug, in just 10 hours using a 240V home charger. The Leaf Plus takes longer at 11.5 hours. The Chevrolet Bolt pulls ahead with the ability to charge up to 100 miles in just half an hour.

Improvement From Within For the 2020 Chevy Bolt

The acceleration has improved with the Bolt as well with an impressive 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque that is stronger than most gasoline cars on the road today. For those that imagine the Bolt is purely an EV capable of only providing great fuel economy that is wrong as the Bolt proves its quite effective at maintaining its power even when driving over steep hills or passing other vehicles. The Bolt can go from 0 to 60 seconds in 6.3 seconds. An array of standard features include SiriusXM Radio, a keyless start with push-to-start button and LED daytime running lamps, plus LED taillamps, 6-speaker audio system, 6-way manual driver seat and passenger seat with 60/40 split-folding rear seat. Enjoy technology that makes driving more enjoyable with 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities. An available Bose premium 7-speaker audio system and automatic heated steering wheel.

 Accolades and Discount

The Chevy Bolt was the 2017 Motor Trend Car of the Year, the 2017 North American Car of the Year and Green Car Report Best Car to Buy, among many other awards. The 2020 Chevrolet Bolt looks to be no exception. This is an affordable option for many customers at $36,620 MSRP (Plus destination fee). An 8 year, 100,000-mile warranty is about as strong as they come in the industry. The Federal Tax Credit will provide up to $1,875 in savings through March 31, 2020 on any Bolt EV purchased.

“The Bolt is not just a great electric vehicle but also a great commuter vehicle in every respect. … Well done, GM. You are now the leader.”

It’s here! Miami Lakes Chevy has the all-new 2017 Chevy Bolt available! Unlike any other all electric vehicle on the market, the Chevy Bolt has an all electric range of 238 miles on a full charge and it is priced under $37,000.

The Chevy Bolt EV just hit the U.S. market in December 2016 and since its launch, there have been a whopping 8,000 units delivered. Last month, the Bolt’s sales were at an all time high — 1,642 units were sold. Sales are expected to grow as the vehicle reaches more markets and some dealers may have a hard time getting the Bolt, but luckily Miami Lakes Automall has two models available!

Why the Chevy Bolt?

  • The Bolt’s 60 kWh 350 V lithium-ion battery is able to go a very long distance between battery charges (238 miles). That is more than any Tesla model currently on the market.

When compared to the competition, the Chevy Bolt EV is the best and most affordable electric vehicle (EV) on the market. When compared to other comparably-priced competitors like the Nissan Leaf and Ford Focus EV, the Bolt EV beats out the competition in battery range, power and MPGe.

Driving Range

When it comes to an EV, the total driving range on a fully-charged battery is a top priority for drivers. The Chevy Bolt out runs the Ford Focus EV and Nissan Leaf. The battery in the Chevy Bolt is a 60 kWh 350 V lithium-ion battery that has a driving range of more than 238 miles. The Nissan Leaf has a  30 kWh 360 V lithium-ion has a 107-mile driving range and the Ford Focus EV’s 33.5 kWh lithium-ion has a 100-mile driving range. Not only does the Chevy Bolt EV win, but it does so by a lot.

Horsepower

Just because you want a fuel efficient car doesn’t mean you want to sacrifice horsepower and Chevy understands that. The Chevy Bolt EV may run on battery power, but it produces an impressive 200 horsepower, which is more than some gas-powered vehicles. The Nissan Leaf only produces 107 horsepower and the Ford Focus EV produces 143 horsepower, so again, the Chevy Bolt EV smokes the competition.   (more…)

Basics of EVs, PHEVs and Hybrid Vehicles + Green Chevy Models

Last week we discussed the 2017 Chevy hybrids, PHEVs and EVs, but all of that can seem like a lot of “talk” if you don’t really know the differences between each of those systems or the benefits to owning a “greener” vehicle. In addition to just saving you money in annual fuel costs, vehicles powered by alternative fuels also have fewer emissions and a new way of measuring fuel economy.

First, it is important to understand the difference between hybrids, PHEVs and electric vehicles.

A hybrid is a vehicle that can run on battery, gas, or a combination of both. They are usually equipped with a gas engine, electric motor, and battery.

Chevy’s available hybrid is the Chevy Malibu Hybrid. You can search out Chevy Malibu inventory here.

A plug-in electric hybrid, or PHEV, is equipped with a gas engine, electric motor, and battery. Like a hybrid, a PHEV can also run on only electric, only gas or a combination of both, but the battery in PHEVs is larger so it can power the vehicle on electricity much longer than hybrids, but the larger battery needs to be plugged-in to be recharged.

Chevy’s available PHEV is the 2016/2017 Chevy Volt. You can search our Chevy Volt inventory here.

An electric vehicle, or EV, runs purely on an electricity that is supplied by a battery. It needs to be plugged-in to be recharged. (more…)
