Consumer Reports Pick Their Best Vehicles

The Chevrolet company has introduced a mid-cycle advancement for its 2022 Traverse SUV (also dubbed a refresh). This full-sized 4-door crossover utility vehicle (CUV), comes with a slew of enhancements and changes. Recently, the review site, Consumer Reports named the 2022 Chevy Traverse mid-sizer as a top performer in the establishment’s road tests.

Road tests from Consumer Reports involve over 50 individual evaluations, with the concluding road test score baked into the car’s Overall Score. Each car that goes through a road test from Consumer Reports receives a score out of 100 possible points, specifically with a higher score that indicates a greater performance.

Regarding the 2022 Chevy Traverse, it received a road test score ranking it 95 out of 100, making it stand between Kia’s Telluride model (97 points) and Porshe’s 718 Boxster (95 points) with reference to Consumer Reports’ best road test results. BMW was able to reach the top of the list for its 7 Series model, specifically with 99 points. Remarkably, the C8 Corvette came in third with 97 points.

The 2022 Traverse SUV was also given by Consumer’s a score ranking it four out of five, which regarded its acceleration performance, as well as four out of five in reference to the performance on its transmission and five out of five for braking. Emergency Handling was also ranked three out of five.

Even more so, Consumer Reports was quite captivated by just how comfortable this year’s Chevy Traverse is. It also regarded its tranquil interior, user-friendly infotainment, and rear seat reminder system. On the flip side, it did critique the car’s allocation of progressive safety features to the higher trims, the absence of extra support adjustments for the driver seat, and the manual sunshade for the available sunroof.

In case you forgot, the nameplate for the Chevrolet Traverse was originally supposed to get a mid-cycle improvement for the previous model year, however, due to issues relating to the coronavirus pandemic, the model pushed back its refresh for the 2022 model year.

Looking beneath the hood, the newest Chevrolet Traverse comes with a naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine. It’s rated at 310 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 266 pound-feet of torque at 2,800 rpm, also connected to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Moreover, this car can be had with either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive. Regarding its body, the Traverse crossover fits in with the parent company, General Motors (GM) C1 platform. Production of this car is located at GM’s Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV Reconceives What A Pickup Could Be

Monday, January 10th, 2022

Last week, Wednesday (January 5th), the Chevrolet company introduced their fully electric 2024 Silverado pickup truck, leaving many fans astounded with just how many changes this new model received from the inside-out. New offerings of this vehicle include:

  • An estimated range of 400-miles on a full charge for the Work Truck (WT) and RST.
  • Up to 664 horsepower with over 780 lb-ft of torque from the optional Wide Open Watts Mode on RST, allowing an estimated 0-60 mph time of fewer than 4.5 seconds.
  • Standard DC fast charging (reaching 350kW) on Work Truck and RST.
  • A max of 10.2kW of offboarding power on Work Truck and RST with optional gear.
  • Fit to 10,000 lbs of maximum trailering with up to 1,300 pounds of payload on RST.
  • Parent company, General Motors (GM) advanced Ultium EV Platform, the Silverado EV offers an incredible progressive combination of aptitude, performance and versatility, as well as advanced technologies that can develop the vehicle over time.

“Chevrolet has constantly revolutionized the Silverado franchise to make it the powerhouse it is today,” said Steve Hill, vice president of Chevrolet. “The Ultium Platform is a critical enabler of next-level pickup truck performance for both fleet and retail customers, whether they are currently driving a Silverado or are considering a pickup for the first time.”

Interested buyers should expect during the launch that the newest Silverado will be available in two configurations, such as the RST First Edition and a fleet-centered WT model. Each will have an extensive bundle of standard and optional safety features.

Charging Capabilities

The RST and WT have public DC fast charging capabilities maxing at 350kW allowing about 100 miles of range to be tacked on in 10 minutes, according to GM estimates. Additionally, after combining the optional accessory power bar, the 2024 Silverado’s PowerBase charging system has up to 10 outlets, proving a total of 10.2kW of fully electric power.

Performance and Efficiency

Clearly, the Silverado EV RST and WT models were designed which much thought and with an acute attention to detail, specifically when it comes to the overall functionality.

“We had no constraints when it came to designing the Silverado EV with dramatic style and flexible utility because we didn’t need to work around a traditional propulsion system,” said Phil Zak, executive director of Chevrolet Design. “The Ultium Platform allowed us to redefine what it means to offer expansive new storage and utility possibilities.”

The construction of the exterior from its proportions to its surfacing fully embodies the Silverado’s knack for providing power and overall athleticism. On the front end, the truck has been shaped to masterfully direct air down the side of the body, considerably reducing drag and turbulence. For this reason, this WT is estimated to have one of the lowerest drag coefficients of any available production model, specifically in the full-size pickup category. This helps in enabling the impressive range.

In terms of space, Chevrolet has implemented an eTrunk, which is a lockable compartment located in front of the vehicle, that provides enough space for a multitude of personal items, big or small.

Owing to the Multi-Flex Midgate on the RST, the 5-ft and 11-inch bed of storage capacity is maximized. This is because the Multi-Flex provides a little over 9 feet of storage between the cab and the tailgate when the Midgate is open.

There are also four configurations available from the 40/60 second-row seat, which enables owners to haul equipment while still making room for a passenger in the back row. In addition to the RST’s optional Multi-Flex Tailgate, this model allows up to 10 ft and 10 inches of load floor and storage capability. Additionally, there is an available tonneau cover that allows large items to be loaded into a storage compartment that is fully lockable and weatherproof.

When To Expect Chevy’s New Pickup

The 2024 Silverado EV is expected to debut by the spring of 2023 for the WT model, while the RST is expected to arrive in the fall of that year. When that time comes, be sure to make your purchase at Miami Lakes Automall. We carry a wide range of vehicles from the Chevrolet brand in a variety of different styles and prices.

Chevy Against Chevy! The 2022 Silverado vs. The 2022 Colorado

Monday, January 3rd, 2022

The Chevrolet company is known for its ability to produce affordable and stylish vehicles, especially when regarding its SUVs and trucks. Two of its most popular models are the Silverado and the Colorado pickups. The foremost is the largest of the two, serving as a full-sized pickup as opposed to the Colorado’s mid-size frame.

There are also many advantages that these two Chevy trucks have over the other, especially for the 2022 model year. Let’s explore a bit more about what makes them similar and what makes them different.

2022 Chevrolet Silverado

The 2022  Chevrolet Silverado is new and improved, bringing along with it a refreshed exterior and interior style. The pickup can be personalized with regular, double, and crew cab layouts. There are also options for cargo boxes, specifically: short, standard, and long beds. Choices for powertrains also range from an entry-level 2.7-liter 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, and the 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel 6-cylinder engine, which all come with a 10-speed automatic.

The diesel engine shows that it’s one bad mother with its towing capabilities, as its injection of power makes it possible to tug up to 13,000 lbs. On top of this, the powertrain can be had with either rear- or four-wheel-drive.

If you’re looking for a little more adventure, shoppers can opt for the new off-roading ZR2 trim. Upgrades on this model encompass shocks from Multimatic, front and rear locking differentials, and augmented bumpers and skid plates. This ZR2 version also uses 33-inch all-terrain tires.

Another thing that distinguishes the Silverado apart from its siblings is the availability of parent company’s, General Motors’ (GM) Super Cruise system, a semi-autonomous driving system, which specifically has been tuned to work while towing on the Silverado. It is worth noting, however, that this feature will on be available on the top-ranking High Country model.

2022 Chevrolet Colorado

The mid-size 2022 Colorado may be a bit smaller but only expands in terms of its features. Starting with its excellent list of powertrains, two cab configurations, and cargo boxes. This truck also has the best towing in its class, with 7,700 lbs, which is achieved when it’s matched with the 2.8-liter Duramax Diesel engine. Rounding off the gasoline offerings are the 2.0-liter inline-4 and a 3.6-liter V6, which also have two- and four-wheel drive systems.

The Colorado also has an off-roading pickup of its own, the Z71. This model comes with an automatic locking rear differential, an off-road suspension, hill descent control, and all-terrain tires. The new Trailboss Package is also an option for 4WD versions of the LT and Z71 models. Skidplates, an off-road appearance package, along with a front 10-inch leveling kit come with the kit, of which there is currently a shortage of.

The ZR2 can tackle rough and tough terrain with its locking front differential, high-performance Multimatic shocks, four-wheel drive, off-road front fascia, and a taller and wider stance for elevated off-road capabilities. Interested buyers can also opt for ZR2’s Bison Edition, which was made through the partnership with American Expedition Vehicles. This optional package even furthers the off-road capabilities.

Miami Lakes Chevrolet

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado and 2022 Colorado are both highly competent and adept in their own right, with the former being skilled in providing engine choices, three cab possibilities and three box lengths, towing and payload, while the latter is masterful with providing a highly comfortable ride, a wide choice of engines, great fuel economy and a lower price ($25,000* vs. Silverado’s $32,000*).

The winner is truly up to you and your particular preference in size and the features that you value the most. Regardless of what you choose, when the time comes to make your purchase on your favorite Chevy vehicle, be sure to do it at Miami Lakes Automall. We carry a wide range of vehicles from the brand, including the Silverado and Colorado.

2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV Review

Monday, December 13th, 2021

New Features

The larger sibling of the Chevrolet Bolt hatchback is finally on the market in the form of a suave and sexy subcompact SUV. This new model obviously provides much more interior space, as well as a style that is more adventurous. Let’s explore all that there is to know about the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV.

Engine and Performance

The EUV crossover only has one powertrain option and that’s an 150-kilowatt permanent magnet electric motor, which gets its juice from a liquid-cooled 65-kWh lithium-ion battery fixed low in the chassis.

It takes 7 hours for this Chevy SUV to fully “refuel” from a  240-volt Level 2 charger, and even longer with the brand’s 120-volt charger used at home. According to the automaker, you can get 4 miles of range within an hour of using the home charger, while

You might prefer to get the available 240-volt DC Fast Charger, which will provide 100 miles of range in about 30 minutes. This will be especially useful during long trips.

Exterior

Aesthetically, the 2022 Bolt EUV mirrors the hatchback EV, but looks are deceiving, as these vehicles don’t share the same mechanical features.

In the front, the raised fascia and reshaped grille of the EUV exude the characteristics of an electric vehicle, while the inclined character lines on the body sides create some charm, giving the impression of motion, even while it’s in park. While this Bolt SUV is a compact, it still looks strong and muscular, particularly due to the short front and rear overhangs, as well as the wheels tuned out wide to the corners.

The front and rear lighting also uses LEDs, while the thin high-fixed headlight strips couple as sequential turn signals. Standard roof rails are augmented by the quasi-SUV feel of the latest Bolt.

Interior

As with the mini Bolt, the larger sibling is plentiful with front headroom and even more so with its backseat, as it has 3 more inches of legroom. Cargo room amounts to 16.3 cubic feet and 56.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

Other improvements for the redesigned Bolt include more comfort, improved seat, and more infotainment options. In regards to the dashboard, there is a revamped 8.0-inch color gauge cluster and a 10.2-inch touchscreen with a more comprehensive interface. On top of this, there is a flat-bottom steering wheel and a new electronic gear shifter with toggles and buttons.

Standards and Options

Standard in-car features include LED front and rear lighting, cruise control, and a dual-level charging cord that hosts charging at home. The automaker backs the standard installation costs of a Level 2 charger compatible at buyers homes.

There is also an impressive suite of safety technologies encompassing automatic emergency braking (with pedestrian detection), lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.

For a little extra doe, buyers can enjoy more conveniences such as a panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and Super Cruise, which can be found on the EUV Premiere. Additional options include rear cross-traffic alert and a 360-degree surround-view camera, plus wireless smartphone charging and a 4G WiFi hotspot. You can also order apps like Alexa and Spotify.

Miami Lakes Chevrolet

The Chevrolet Bolt EUV has a starting price of $33,000 (plus destination fee). When the time comes to purchase this SUV, be sure to do it at Miami Lakes Automall. We have a wide range of vehicles from the automaker ranging in different trims and prices.

Those who are interested in any of our vehicles can simply view our online new car inventory and chat with a representative for further assistance.

2022 Chevy Blazer Given ‘Recommended’ Rating by Consumer Reports

Friday, December 10th, 2021

The 2022 Chevy Blazer was recently given a ‘Recommended’ rating from the non-profit organization Consumer Reports. The non-profit dedicates itself to independent product testing and consumer-oriented research. Last year, Consumer Reports gave the 2021 Chevy Blazer a negative rating and advised consumers to avoid the midsize SUV. It seems Chevrolet listened to consumer complaints and drastically improved the Chevy Blazer as Consumer Reports ranked the SUV third in its midsize SUV segment. We’ll take a look at some of the changes Chevy made to the Blazer as well as what metrics Consumer Reports used for their rating.

2022 Chevy Blazer Recommended

The Chevy Blazer was reintroduced in 2019 as an all-new midsize crossover. The 2022 Blazer comes as a fifth-generation vehicle and as such, Chevrolet made sure to provide consumers with the latest in technology and driver-assist features. The 2022 Chevy Blazer comes equipped with either a 2.0L four-cylinder engine capable of 228 horsepower and 258lb-ft of torque, or a naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 engine capable of 308 horsepower and 270lb-ft of torque. The midsize SUV rides on the GM C1 platform and comes equipped with advanced safety features like forward-collision warnings and automatic emergency braking.

According to Consumer Reports, the 2022 Chevy Blazer scored an overall score of 82, placing the midsize SUV within the top three of the organization’s Midsize Sport-utility Vehicle segment. On the road test, the Blazer scored 83 out of 100. For predicted reliability, the Blazer scored four out of five. For predicted owner satisfaction, Consumer Reports gave the SUV three out of five. Safety features were ranked standard and fuel economy was rated at 13 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg overall.

Consumer Reports praised the 2022 Chevy Blazer for its powertrain and drivetrain. The midsize SUV had more than adequate acceleration and braking. It also had a very responsive transmission as handling was precise and nimble. Inside the cabin, Consumer Reports noted that owners will enjoy a quiet and comfortable interior. As for criticisms, Consumer Reports stated that visibility was poor at times given the structure of the vehicle. Overall, it seems the 2022 Chevy Blazer is better than it’s ever been. The midsize SUV offers smooth driving, precise handling, and it comes equipped with the latest safety and driver-assist features. The 2022 Chevy Blazer starts at an MSRP of $33,400 (plus destination fee).

The Chevrolet Blazer Is Our Automotive White Night

Monday, November 29th, 2021

The Chevrolet Blazer made its first introduction into the car market in 2018 and proved to be a massive hit among consumers across the globe. In the past two years, the automaker has seen a considerable increase in sales. Issues regarding intense demand in combination with the current global chip shortage, have caused major delays and disruptions regarding supply issues, however, GM China is still promoting new special edition cars, and a new one has just entered the automotive stratosphere.

Chevy’s new mid-size crossover is a newcomer to the Chinese market and is counting on this new exclusive trim, the White Night Edition, to help invite more sales. So far, initial reactions have been positive, but the question is “Is this actually a new trim level or simply an appearance package?”

The upcoming Chevrolet Blazer White Night Edition, which is derived from the RS trim level, made its introduction last week at the 2021 Guangzhou International Motor Show and displayed exceptional exterior styling built around the USDM Midnight Edition package. This new range-topping SUV crossover will only have a traditional seven-seat configuration available. The outer body of the White Night Edition involves a classy black and white color scheme.

The base of the car is smothered in a cool and fresh Pearl White, while the rest of the car encompasses black highlights and fun minute details like blacked-out pillars. The White Night Edition drives on a set of 21-inch black wheels that really helps to bring the whole design together.

The inside of the latest Blazer also collaborates with the RS model and involves red and silver trim details, along with upgraded technologies, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Beneath the hood, you’ll discover GM’s mild-hybrid powertrain which encompasses a turbocharged 2.0-liter LSY four-cylinder engine and an electric motor with a 48-volt battery. The intricate combination of mechanics produces an excellent output of 233 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. All four wheels are powered up through the 9-speed automatic transmission.

General standard one should expect in a base LT Blazer is an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and a Wi-Fit hotspot, dual-zone climate control, an HD backup camera, and the Chevy Safety Assist package, which includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking, lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning, a following-distance indicator, forward-collision alert, and automatic high-beams.

Optional features on upper trims involve a hands-free power liftgate, an automatic heated steering wheel, and a navigation system.

The White Night Edition is now ready to order with the MSRP of this car amounting to 333,900 CNY ($52,285), including destination fees. Those who prefer their new 2022 Blazer fully loaded should be prepared to spend nearly $60,000, (plus destination fee) in North America.

Chevrolet Debuts its 650-Horsepower Beast

Friday, November 12th, 2021

Chevrolet showcased one of its off-road concepts at the 2021 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Named the Beast, this four-door pickup looked mighty and rugged. It’s based on the Chevy Silverado but it comes in much more powerful and capable than the average pickup. Equipped with a V8 engine that’s capable of 650 horsepower, Chevy’s new Beast is sure to pose a threat to the competition. This concept pickup utilizes the same engine as the Corvette so you know it’s got some great specs. We’ll dive deeper into the concept vehicle and see what Chevy’s got in store for those looking for one beast of a pickup.

Chevy Debuts Beast Off-Road Concept

Chevrolet recently debuted its Beast off-road concept pickup at the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The domineering pickup looked quite impressive with its 37-inch mud-terrain tires. Mounted inside of these huge tires were 20-inch beadlock wheels. As for the engine, the Beast pickup utilizes a supercharged 6.2L LT4 V8 engine that’s capable of 650 horsepower. The engine comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system with a two-speed transfer case. This concept pickup also comes equipped with Brembo brakes.

The Beast pickup is based on the Chevy Silverado. It is a four-door truck with two spare tires in the bed. The concept pickup stands tall and empowered with its 126.9-inch wheelbase and 13.5 inches of ground clearance. The pickup is almost an oversized version of the Silverado as it comes in almost 10 inches wider than the standard Silverado. For this feat, the name Beast is quite appropriate. In addition to its large stature, the concept pickup comes equipped with LED lights, skid plates, and an off-road suspension setup. Control arms come installed in the front along with adjustable dampers with external reservoirs. At the back of the vehicle is a live axle.

Riding inside this beast of a pickup, drivers will note two 7-inch LCD screen monitors. These provide real-time performance data about the pickup like pitch and roll. For safety, drivers can buckle themselves in with a four-point harness while sitting in the Recaro performance seats. Chevy really went all out with this concept pickup. Its large exterior makes it reminiscent of a video game and perhaps that’s where the inspiration came from. Drivers will certainly feel like the main character as they traverse the toughest of terrains. We’ll have to wait for more information but for the ultimate off-road enthusiast, the Chevy Beast looks unchallenged.

5 Sensational Features of The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe

Thursday, November 11th, 2021

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that SUVs and crossovers have all but taken over the car market, and each year this interest in these types of vehicles grows even more, with the Chevrolet Tahoe serving as one of the main leads in its segment. This full-sized SUV is back for the 2022 model year, and it’s introducing a more powerful engine and a slew of new and exciting features. Here are 5 Sensational Features of The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe!

Expanded 6.2-Liter V8 Engine

The base engine on the upcoming Tahoe is a 5.3-liter V8, which has an incredible output of 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Then for daredevils, Chevrolet also provides its Tahoe buyers with the option of a larger 6.2-liter V8 that produces a magnificent 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Even still, the car still manages to get a combined average of 21 mpg.

Transparent Trailer View

Due to the length and weight distribution of a trailer, towing these campers can prove to be quite difficult for driving, and even more so with the blocked view. In the same way as its kinsman, the GMC Sierra, the new Tahoe implements a translucent trailer view system, which ensures that the driver can see through the trailer by the use of attachable cameras. This is together with the 13 available camera views surrounding the vehicles, making dead angles virtually impossible when driving.

Seamless Infotainment System With Google services

The Chevrolet company is very adept in providing advanced in-cabin features, particularly when it comes to infotainment. This is even more expected in its luxury vehicles like the Tahoe. For this model year, this concept is taken even further with its effective stand-alone technology that necessitates very little connection with your phone due to the built-in Google functionality. Some examples include Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play.

Android users will also appreciate the Android Auto systems, which enables one to download his or her apps into the infotainment system, making them accessible through the 10.2-inch touchscreen. This helps to alleviate the distraction of messing with your phone while zooming on the freeway.

Magnetic Ride Control (MRC)

The Magnetic Ride Control (MRC) is an incredibly innovative technology of the automaker. This system adapts the shock-absorbing resistance of the Tahoe to the road condition in real-time. This is contrary to regular mechanical components used in traditional suspension and shock absorbers, the MRC uses monotube dampers full of magnetorheological fluid.

The density of the fluid either increases or decreases according to what is required in the reaction to the wheel forces while driving on various terrains and handled by a set of sensors and an electronic control unit. The MRC is tremendously swift and precise, making driving in any condition stress-free.

8,400-Pound Towing Capacity

The 2022 Tahoe’s 6.2-liter V8 engine isn’t just fast, it’s also quite mighty, with its towing ability amounting to a maximum of 8,400 lbs. A capacity like this, taking long camping trips all summer long will become like second nature.
