GM Teases Chevy Equinox EV in Short Trailer

Friday, April 1st, 2022

Chevrolet recently released a short teaser video showcasing the all-new all-electric Chevrolet Equinox. The electric SUV is just one of the many EVs that Chevy is working on. Like many other automakers, Chevrolet has been working to produce a lineup of electric vehicles to help reduce global carbon emissions. The automaker has teased the electric Chevy Silverado and there have also been rumors of an electric Chevy Blazer. We’ll have to wait for more information about both, but for now, we’ll dive into the latest teaser video showing off the new electric Equinox.

Chevrolet Equinox EV Debuts

Chevrolet recently put out a teaser video for the all-new Chevrolet Equinox EV. The automaker had teased the new EV SUV earlier in the year at the 2022 CES show. There, Chevy showcased computer-generated renderings of the battery-powered SUV. Now Chevrolet is publishing a short teaser video depicting the SUV and its sleek design.

In the 30 second clip from Chevy, we can see that the Chevy Equinox EV has narrow and slit-like headlights that flow into the grille bar. The EV SUV seems to have a soft and round front end and hood. The front end appears friendly as though suited for families rather than aggressive. A charging port can be seen on the driver’s side front fender and the door handles are the pop-out style that seems to be common on electric vehicles.

Further along in the teaser video, we see the smooth and flowy sides of the Chevy Equinox EV. These wrap into the rear bumper which has the name Equinox stitched in grey metal. The ‘E’ in Equinox is the three-bar Ultium logo which alludes to the Ultium electric platform that GM is using for its EVs. The logo meshes well with the radiant blue color scheme of the SUV. Speaking of the color, it seems the Equinox EV has a two-tone paint scheme as the roof and A-pillars have a white contrast with the blue body.

The all-new Chevy Equinox EV is supposedly going to start at an MSRP of $30,000 (plus destination fee). We’ll have to wait for more details about the EV SUV, but based on the teaser video it looks to define a new era for Chevrolet.

2022 Chevy Corvette Earns Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Award

Friday, March 11th, 2022

The 2022 Chevy Corvette recently earned Kelley Blue Books Best Resale Value Award. This award is given to those vehicles that KBB finds to have the best projected resale value. Through their statistical model, KBB found the 2022 Corvette to be the top-rated sports car with the highest percentage of overall resale value. Over the years, Chevrolet has provided the Corvette with the best of the best in terms of style and performance. The luxury sports car features a stylish interior and comes equipped with the latest in technology and driver-assist features like Magnetic Selective Ride Control. As a luxury sports car, the 2022 Corvette also proves quite affordable. With some of the highest performance standards and top-notch driver-assist features, it’s no surprise to see the 2022 Chevy Corvette racking up awards.

2022 Chevy Corvette Has Best Resale Value, Says KBB

The 2022 Chevy Corvette was recently the recipient of Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value Award. This award is determined by KBB’s statistical models which estimate how much of the original value a vehicle will retain over five years. According to KBB, much of a vehicle’s resale value is based on supply and demand. Some vehicles like the 2022 Corvette, however, retain a high percentage of their original value as they are often not discounted from their original MSRP.

Vehicles included in KBB’s Best Resale Value list are projected to retain about 56 percent of their original value in comparison to the average 43 percent for 2022 model year vehicles. The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette currently starts at an MSRP of $62,195 (plus destination fee) so, based on KBB’s model, the luxury sports car is well worth its price, especially given its capability and features.

For the 2022 model year, the Chevy Corvette comes equipped with a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 engine that’s capable of 495 horsepower and 470lb-ft of torque. Owners making use of the dual-clutch automatic transmission combined with the Corvette’s new Magnetic Selective Ride Control feature will find that they can maintain control even at the highest of speeds. With some of the highest performance standards, it’s no wonder the 2022 Chevy Corvette earned KBB’s Best Resale Value Award.

Chevrolet Reboots Sopranos Intro For Special Super Bowl Ad

Friday, February 25th, 2022

One of the best parts of the Super Bowl (aside from the game and the halftime show) is the commercials. Every year, U.S companies rack their brains to present the best advertisement with the hopes of getting the most views and attention. From comedic takes to adorable presentations, companies vie to have the most memorable commercial. This year at Super Bowl LVI, Chevrolet went all out for their all-electric Chevrolet Silverado EV. With the hopes of playing toward some nostalgia, the automaker rebooted and updated the HBO show “The Sopranos.” The sixty-second ad featured character’s from the series including the main character Tony Soprano’s daughter, Meadow. We’ll dissect the ad further and see how Chevy landed on this, but it’s safe to say they definitely made an impression.

Chevy Shows Off Silverado EV During Super Bowl Ad

For Super Bowl LVI, Chevrolet decided to play on some heartstrings and drum up some nostalgia. For their commercial, the automaker rebooted and updated the introduction for the HBO show, “The Sopranos.” The sixty-second ad was called ‘New Generation’ and it featured mob boss Tony Soprano’s daughter and her brother (played by Jamie Lynn Siegler and Robert Iler respectively) along with the all-new Silverado EV. About the ad, vice president of Chevrolet marketing Steve Majoros said,

“It’s a different way of showcasing ‘The Sopranos’ and showcasing Chevrolet, and it felt like the nice thing to do. When you have a truck this important to our business, there’s really no other logical platform to do this,” said Majoros.

Chevrolet’s commercial aired during the first quarter of the Super Bowl game. It included many of the same shots as the original show’s introduction, but it replaced Tony Soprano with his daughter Meadow. Meadow is seen driving a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV. The original theme song “Woke Up This Morning” can be heard throughout the ad. Meadow’s brother A.J does a voiceover and says, “The first-ever, all-electric Chevy Silverado. A whole new truck for a whole new generation.”

Chevy’s Super Bowl ad was directed by the creator and director of “The Sopranos,” David Chase. The director of photography for the show Phil Abraham also helped. The ad played on the Silverado EV’s capabilities by starting out with a surprise blackout just before the game started. The ad then went on to state that with the pickup’s built-in 4G LTE, fans could still watch the game in the face of an actual power outage. This marked the first time Chevrolet aired an ad during the Super Bowl since 2015. With the new wave of EVs, it’s no wonder Chevy felt the time had come to showcase their most important truck.

Chevrolet to Offer Affordable Electric Mystery Car

Friday, February 11th, 2022

Chevrolet is planning to offer consumers a more affordable electric vehicle. While the automaker currently offers the Chevy Bolt EV at a starting MSRP of $31,500 (plus destination fee), Chevrolet wants to provide more options for consumers. This comes during a time when many automakers are working to shift their lineups toward EVs in the wake of an ongoing global climate crisis. Chevrolet has teased an all-electric Silverado which is set to compete with Ford’s F-150 Lightning and Tesla’s Cybertruck. The automaker isn’t stopping there, however. According to Chevrolet, they’ll be working on electric versions of SUVs and sports cars. We’ll try to see exactly what Chevy has in store, but this is certainly an exciting time for EV fans.

Chevrolet to Offer More EVs

Chevrolet will be expanding its EV lineup. According to the automaker, the goal is to sell hundreds of thousands of EVs annually in the United States by 2025. This may seem a difficult task given the current supply chain issue, but once these resolve Chevy will have a full go signal. Chevy has been teasing the Chevrolet Silverado EV for some time now. Although it seems a fierce competitor, General Motors (GM) is already teasing several new mystery EVs. We’re not sure what these mystery EVs will be, but based on the pictures, they look to be an SUV and a sports car. During a recent earnings call, GM CEO Mary Barra said,

“Affordable EVs aren’t part of the market that start-ups aren’t targeting, but they are key to driving mass adoption of EVs, which is a national and a global priority,” said Barra. “That’s why we plan to follow the Equinox with an even more affordable EV.”

GM’s CEO understands that EVs are the future. She also understands that there are some setbacks that may cause consumers to be hesitant. Despite this wariness, GM and Chevrolet will be investing in a new Ultium platform. This will serve as the new base for new electric vehicles like the Silverado EV. Future iterations of the Chevy Bolt will also make their way to this new platform. One of the more important details that Barra stated was the fact that the automakers were working on more affordable EVs. The Chevy Bolt is reasonably priced but we’ll have to see what the Equinox EV starts at. If GM and Chevy are dead set on affordable EVs, this may be the perfect opportunity for those wanting to test the waters with an EV of their own.

GM Says 2023 Chevy Corvette Will Arrive Soon

Friday, January 28th, 2022
2023-chevrolet-corvette

General Motors (GM) will be opening up the dealer order guide for the 2023 Chevy Corvette in March of 2022. GM will also be cutting production of the 2022 Corvette soon after this. It seems that the automaker wants to phase out older models and reign in new ones. This has always been the course for automakers and these days with the transition toward EVs on the forefront, automakers must keep their consumers happy, even as they plan new models like the Silverado EV. Fans of the luxury sports car can rejoice however as the new Corvette will feature a brand new V8 engine. It will also feature some minor cosmetic and option changes. We’ll move along and see what else we can expect from the new Corvette.

2023 Corvette Receives Production Date

General Motors will be starting production of the 2023 Corvette on May 9th, 2022. The luxury sports car will see its dealer order guide become available shortly before that, March 21st, 2022. This information comes from the Corvette Action Center site. According to the site, key dates and information about the 2023 Corvette were sent to various Chevy dealers from GM. With the information making the rounds, consumers and fans alike are excited for a new iteration of the iconic corvette.

Consumers can expect to see the 2023 Chevy Corvette become available around March of 2022. The dealer order guide will become available on March 21st and dealers will be able to place orders three days later on March 24th. The online configurator will also be made available. Later on March 31st, dealers will be able to pair their orders with Corvette allocations. Sometime after this in May, the 2022 Corvette will cease production. Though the 2022 Corvette will have spent just 8 months in production, it’s clear GM is making room to bring the better and badder 2023 Corvette out to consumers. As mentioned, it is expected to come equipped with a more powerful V8 engine as well as some cosmetic changes.

Consumers can expect to see the 2023 Chevy Corvette available for purchase in the Spring of 2022. Although the 2022 Corvette will see the end of its production, those looking forward to the 2023 version will be more than happy to know they’re getting a more powerful and improved Corvette. It’s not certain whether GM will increase the price of the 2023 Corvette, but we can expect to see a starting MSRP of around $60,000 (plus destination fee). We’ll be staying tuned for more information.

2022 Chevrolet Suburban Receives Changes

Friday, January 7th, 2022
2021-chevy-suburban

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban will be receiving several new changes and updates for the 2022 model year. Chevrolet has been steadily ramping up its vehicles for the new year with the latest driver-assist and safety features. Chevrolet is hoping to keep consumers happy despite the ongoing chip shortage which has led to increased MSRPs all around. Thankfully, Chevy has been able to navigate and maneuver around the shortage and still provide the best-equipped vehicles. Chevy plans to build heavy-duty Suburban models for the United States Army, so it makes sense that the automaker is ensuring the latest technology and features make it through. We’ll dive in and see what Chevy has in store for 2022, but given their track record, it’s set to be some exciting features.

Chevrolet Updates 2022 Suburban

The 2022 Chevy Suburban serves as the 12th generation family-sized SUV. For the 2022 model year, Chevrolet will be making several changes and updates both inside and outside the Suburban. For its exterior, the 2022 Suburban will see the deletion of two colors and the addition of three new hues. Inside the large SUV, Chevrolet will be adding some new safety features as well as improving the infotainment system. There will also be some new package features such as an electronic limited-slip differential for the off-road package. For engine choices, Chevrolet will offer a 5.3L V8 capable of 355 horsepower and 383lb-ft of torque. There will also be a 6.2L V8 capable of 420 horsepower and 460lb-ft and a 3.0L Duramax diesel engine that’s capable of 277 horsepower and 460lb-ft of torque.

The 2022 Chevy Suburban will see the addition of several features. One of these includes rear park assist which was previously standard on all trims except for the Premier and High Country. Chevrolet will be replacing the feature with front and rear park assist and it will come standard on all trim levels. Reverse automatic braking will now be available on the Premier and High Country trims.

Inside the 2022 Chevy Suburban, consumers will note a new 10.2-inch Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium screen system. There’s also a revision to the transmission. Now there’s a new 10-speed automatic transmission that can be equipped with either V8 engine. The 2022 Suburban will also see GM’s new electronic limited-slip differential as an exclusive feature for Z71 trims equipped with the Off-Road Capability Package. This package will also include some driver-assist features like magnetic ride control and air ride adaptive suspension.

2022 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe to Receive New Changes

Thursday, December 30th, 2021

Chevrolet will be making some new changes and improvements to the 2022 Chevy Suburban and Tahoe. The two family-sized SUVs have been the recipient of a series of improvements over the years including new trims and performance packages. Now it seems Chevrolet will be making some additional improvements for the two large SUVs for the new 2022 model year. These improvements and changes will consist of new features which will improve the overall capability of the 2022 Suburban and Tahoe. We’ll dive in and see exactly what Chevrolet will be adding to the family-sized SUVs.

2022 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe See Improvements

For the new 2022 model year, Chevrolet will be making several changes and improvements to the 2022 Chevy Suburban and Tahoe. Both family-sized SUVs have seen minor improvements over the years, but now Chevy will be adding some additional features. The first of these features will be one that was removed due to the ongoing chip shortage. Thankfully, Chevrolet has been able to work through the shortage. For the 2022 model year, Chevy will be bringing back the automatic engine stop/start feature for many of its vehicles including the Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon. Vehicles produced starting December 13th and on will come equipped with the feature. The automatic stop/start feature switches the vehicle off when it comes to a stop, then it restarts the engine when the driver takes their foot off the brake again. This helps drastically reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

The other change coming to the 2022 Chevy lineup will be a new 10-speed automatic transmission. This transmission will be fitted to either the 5.3L V8 or the 6.2L V8 gas engine. It will be paired with Chevrolet’s controlled overdrive as well as a traction select system that offers towing and haul modes. It should be noted that those vehicles equipped with the Duramax 3.0L turbodiesel engine will still use the old GM 10-speed transmission. About the new transmission, a GM spokesperson said, “the new gearbox allows our manufacturing and dealer teams to more easily align the specific calibration needed for the transmission and can enable OTA updates in the future.”

GM will be moving toward over-the-air (OTA) updates with their new Vehicle Intelligence Platform. Many automakers have been working to provide this service for consumers as it allows auto companies to provide updates that fix bugs and improve performance. It’s good to see Chevy adding features and improving aspects like its gearbox. We’re excited for the new 2022 Suburban and Tahoe and can’t wait to see what else Chevy has in store.

2022 Chevy Blazer Given ‘Recommended’ Rating by Consumer Reports

Friday, December 10th, 2021

The 2022 Chevy Blazer was recently given a ‘Recommended’ rating from the non-profit organization Consumer Reports. The non-profit dedicates itself to independent product testing and consumer-oriented research. Last year, Consumer Reports gave the 2021 Chevy Blazer a negative rating and advised consumers to avoid the midsize SUV. It seems Chevrolet listened to consumer complaints and drastically improved the Chevy Blazer as Consumer Reports ranked the SUV third in its midsize SUV segment. We’ll take a look at some of the changes Chevy made to the Blazer as well as what metrics Consumer Reports used for their rating.

2022 Chevy Blazer Recommended

The Chevy Blazer was reintroduced in 2019 as an all-new midsize crossover. The 2022 Blazer comes as a fifth-generation vehicle and as such, Chevrolet made sure to provide consumers with the latest in technology and driver-assist features. The 2022 Chevy Blazer comes equipped with either a 2.0L four-cylinder engine capable of 228 horsepower and 258lb-ft of torque, or a naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 engine capable of 308 horsepower and 270lb-ft of torque. The midsize SUV rides on the GM C1 platform and comes equipped with advanced safety features like forward-collision warnings and automatic emergency braking.

According to Consumer Reports, the 2022 Chevy Blazer scored an overall score of 82, placing the midsize SUV within the top three of the organization’s Midsize Sport-utility Vehicle segment. On the road test, the Blazer scored 83 out of 100. For predicted reliability, the Blazer scored four out of five. For predicted owner satisfaction, Consumer Reports gave the SUV three out of five. Safety features were ranked standard and fuel economy was rated at 13 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg overall.

Consumer Reports praised the 2022 Chevy Blazer for its powertrain and drivetrain. The midsize SUV had more than adequate acceleration and braking. It also had a very responsive transmission as handling was precise and nimble. Inside the cabin, Consumer Reports noted that owners will enjoy a quiet and comfortable interior. As for criticisms, Consumer Reports stated that visibility was poor at times given the structure of the vehicle. Overall, it seems the 2022 Chevy Blazer is better than it’s ever been. The midsize SUV offers smooth driving, precise handling, and it comes equipped with the latest safety and driver-assist features. The 2022 Chevy Blazer starts at an MSRP of $33,400 (plus destination fee).

Chevrolet Debuts its 650-Horsepower Beast

Friday, November 12th, 2021

Chevrolet showcased one of its off-road concepts at the 2021 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Named the Beast, this four-door pickup looked mighty and rugged. It’s based on the Chevy Silverado but it comes in much more powerful and capable than the average pickup. Equipped with a V8 engine that’s capable of 650 horsepower, Chevy’s new Beast is sure to pose a threat to the competition. This concept pickup utilizes the same engine as the Corvette so you know it’s got some great specs. We’ll dive deeper into the concept vehicle and see what Chevy’s got in store for those looking for one beast of a pickup.

Chevy Debuts Beast Off-Road Concept

Chevrolet recently debuted its Beast off-road concept pickup at the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The domineering pickup looked quite impressive with its 37-inch mud-terrain tires. Mounted inside of these huge tires were 20-inch beadlock wheels. As for the engine, the Beast pickup utilizes a supercharged 6.2L LT4 V8 engine that’s capable of 650 horsepower. The engine comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system with a two-speed transfer case. This concept pickup also comes equipped with Brembo brakes.

The Beast pickup is based on the Chevy Silverado. It is a four-door truck with two spare tires in the bed. The concept pickup stands tall and empowered with its 126.9-inch wheelbase and 13.5 inches of ground clearance. The pickup is almost an oversized version of the Silverado as it comes in almost 10 inches wider than the standard Silverado. For this feat, the name Beast is quite appropriate. In addition to its large stature, the concept pickup comes equipped with LED lights, skid plates, and an off-road suspension setup. Control arms come installed in the front along with adjustable dampers with external reservoirs. At the back of the vehicle is a live axle.

Riding inside this beast of a pickup, drivers will note two 7-inch LCD screen monitors. These provide real-time performance data about the pickup like pitch and roll. For safety, drivers can buckle themselves in with a four-point harness while sitting in the Recaro performance seats. Chevy really went all out with this concept pickup. Its large exterior makes it reminiscent of a video game and perhaps that’s where the inspiration came from. Drivers will certainly feel like the main character as they traverse the toughest of terrains. We’ll have to wait for more information but for the ultimate off-road enthusiast, the Chevy Beast looks unchallenged.

Chevrolet Performance to Introduce its Biggest Crate Engine Ever

Friday, October 29th, 2021

Chevrolet is hoping to make huge strides with its latest announcement. The automaker recently announced the release of one of its largest crate engines yet. This new 632-cubic-inch monster engine is capable of 1,000 horsepower and 876lb-ft of torque. The ZZ632 engine is the biggest and most powerful engine to be released from Chevrolet Performance yet. It will debut at the 2021 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. Chevrolet Performance is a subsidiary that sells brand parts. The group has been in production since 1967 and it has handled all high-performance crate engines since. Now the group has released one of its most powerful crate engines. The ZZ632 is a street engine that pumps on gas and delivers power without power adders. Chevy will be sure to upgrade their line with this bad boy. We may see it used in a Camaro or maybe even a Silverado. We’ll dive into more detail about the new engine and check out what it’s capable of.

Chevy’s New ZZ632 Crate Engine

Chevrolet’s subsidiary Chevrolet Performance recently announced their largest crate engine yet. The ZZ632 is a powerful beast of an engine that is capable of producing 1,004 horsepower and 876 lb-ft of torque. This new crate engine sees its peak power at 6,600 rpm but it easily maxes out at 7,000 rpm. Fuel is delivered by eight-port injectors with the big-block breathing through high-flow CNC-machined aluminum cylinder heads. Typically big blocks are designed with variations in port shape according to each individual cylinder. With the ZZ632, all eight of the intake ports have the same length, volume, and layout. The exhaust ports are also identical which ensures that each cylinder produces the same amount of power. About their new crate engine, the Director of the Performance and Racing Propulsion Team Russ O’Blenes said,

“This is the biggest, baddest crate engine we’ve ever built,” said Russ O’Blenes, director of the Performance and Racing Propulsion Team. “The ZZ632 sits at the top of our unparalleled crate engine lineup as the king of performance. It delivers incredible power, and it does it on pump gas.”

For the ZZ632’s iron block, Chevrolet Performance utilized the same mold as was used with ZZ572 crate engines. The difference was that the castings were machined to accommodate the large 632 cubic-inch displacement. The bores grew by 0.04 inches compared to the 572 V8s and most of the displacement gain came from a stroke that’s 0.375 inches longer. Chevrolet engineers were able to modify the block and the connecting rods to provide more clearance for this longer stroke. They utilized a forged rotating assembly and four-bolt main caps to ensure strength and durability. With their careful adjustments, they were able to take a single ZZ632 engine through 200 simulated dragstrip passes on a dyno.

The new ZZ632 crate engine is Chevrolet’s next advancement for their high-performance vehicles. The crate engine will officially debut at the 2021 SEMA show in Las Vegas. There, consumers will be able to get a closer look at this bad boy. From what we’ve learned so far, Chevy will have a very exciting engine for future use. We can’t wait to see what they do with it.
