Chevrolet to Offer ‘Build Your Own Engine Program’ for 2023 Corvette Z06

2023-corvette-z06

Chevrolet will be bringing back its ‘Build Your Own Engine’ program for the 2023 Corvette Z06. The automaker will allow consumers to have more control of their engine and how it is assembled. Consumers can also make use of the online configuration tool to customize their Corvette how they want. Chevrolet has been steadily making small adjustments and improvements to the all-new 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 to ensure the sports car offers the highest performance yet. With a max speed of 195 mph, consumers will have one of the most powerful Corvettes yet. This program will allow consumers to cooperate with Chevy technicians as they build their Corvette Z06 engine. Chevy has offered the program before, but we’ll take a look at what consumers can expect.

Chevy to Bring Back Corvette Z06 Engine Program

Chevrolet recently announced that it will be bringing back its ‘Build Your Own Engine’ program for the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06. The program will be available in the second quarter of 2023. Consumers will be able to work directly with Chevy technicians as they assemble the engine for their Corvette Z06. This cooperation will ensure that consumers get the most out of their Corvette. Chevy will only offer the program for Corvettes using the LT6 powertrain which means the Z06. About the program, Chevrolet plant director Kai Spande said,

“This is a real challenge for us because this is such a new engine and it’s much more complex than what we’ve ever done in the past,” said Kai Spande. “We’ve done some things that I think will be very much appreciated by those that build their engine,” Spande continued.

Chevrolet has offered the Build Your Own Engine program in the past. Previously, consumers would work directly alongside assembly-line workers as they assembled the engine. This time, however, Chevy will be designating a specific area of the Bowling Green Kentucky factory in which participants will cooperate. This allows consumers to help professionals assemble their engines without having to go down to the assembly line. Chevrolet had initially offered the Build Your Own Engine program for $5,000. Given the new accommodations, however, the price may see an increase. Still, the opportunity to have direct control over your 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 engine is a great chance to ensure you get exactly what you want out of it.

2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Will Have Top Speed of 195 Mph

The top speed for the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 has been revealed. According to Chevrolet’s chief engineer Josh Holder, the sports car will have a top speed of 195 mph. While this is not over 200 mph like a previous rumor indicated, this is still an impressive speed. The 2023 Corvette Z06 has been teased for some time now, but order banks have opened up. The high-performance luxury sports car is expected to arrive with a more powerful engine as well as a new look. Those interested in the 2023 Corvette Z06 can browse an online option list to create their perfect sports car. We’ll take a look at the new 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 and see what consumers can expect.

2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Top Speed Confirmed

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has had its top speed confirmed. According to Chevrolet’s chief engineer Josh Holder, the luxury sports car will have a top speed of 195 mph. This is thanks to the sports car’s new engine which is a 5.5L V8 engine. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the 2023 Corvette Z06 offers 670 horsepower and 460lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet has upgraded this engine to provide high performance. It boasts a flat-plane crank design with a 5.56 drive ratio for increased acceleration. The 5.5L also allows drivers to hit a 0-60 mph time of 2.6 seconds.

The 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 will come available with a Z07 performance package. This package will increase the aerodynamics of the sports car by equipping it with spring and anti-roll bar rates. The Z07 package will also add a huge rear wing spoiler. This will add about 734 pounds of downforce thus increasing the Corvette’s overall performance.

Inside the 2023 Corvette Z06, owners can expect a fighter jet-inspired cockpit that gives drivers a heightened feeling of control. With customizable seats and a raced-designed steering wheel, owners will have full access to an array of driver assist features. This includes a performance data recorder, or PDR, that allows drivers to capture their acceleration speed, braking, and gear choices. For entertainment, the high-performance sports car offers a 12-inch touchscreen system with Chevrolet 3 Infotainment. The system is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Order banks have already opened for the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06. The sports car will start at an MSRP of $105,000 (plus destination fee).

2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 to Feature Impressive Top Speed

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette is set to release to the public soon. The high-performance luxury sports car has been revitalized for the new model year and will come equipped with a more powerful engine. While the 2022 Corvette was rated 10Best by Car and Driver and remains as popular as ever, Chevrolet has begun to phase out production of the 2022 sports car in favor of the 2023 model. This isn’t a bad thing as the 2023 Corvette will feature an improved engine as well as a new look. An options list has already been released, so fans can start to customize their preferred Corvette exactly how they want it. Specific details about the performance standards have yet to be released, but according to information from a leaked owner’s manual, the 2023 Corvette Z06 will have a top speed exceeding 200 mph. We’ll take a closer look at this metric and see what fans can expect from the new luxury sports car.

2023 Corvette Z06 Will Have High Top Speed

The 2023 Corvette Z06 will soon release to the public. Order books have opened and customers have been able to customize their Corvette the way they want with a new online visualizer tool. Chevrolet has allowed an assortment of colors as well as package options so customers can choose their desired sports car. Other option choices include the roof, wheels, and interior colors. While the 2023 Corvette Z06 is set to debut soon, only general information about the sports car’s performance standards has been released.

The 2023 Corvette Z06 is set to come equipped with a 5.5L naturally aspirated V8 engine that’s capable of 670 horsepower and 460lb-ft of torque. This engine will churn that out at 8,400 rpm and it will also be able to generate 734 pounds of downforce when equipped with front dive planes and a rear wing. Thanks to the new Magnetic Selective Ride Control feature, owners will also enjoy impressive handling even at high speeds.

According to a recent leak, many are speculating that the 2023 Corvette Z06 will have a top speed exceeding 200 mph. The information inside the owner’s manual was leaked detailing the correct shifting points based on the minimum and maximum speeds. It stated that 188 mph was the max speed at which a driver could downshift from sixth to fifth gear. Since 188 mph is the minimum downshifting point into fifth gear, it’s likely that the luxury sports car will be able to exceed 188 mph while in sixth gear. This is especially likely given that the base Corvette has an official top speed of 194 mph. We’ll have to wait for the luxury sports car to release to confirm, but fans should rejoice that the 2023 Corvette Z06 will have such an impressive top speed.

2022 Chevy Corvette Earns Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Award

The 2022 Chevy Corvette recently earned Kelley Blue Books Best Resale Value Award. This award is given to those vehicles that KBB finds to have the best projected resale value. Through their statistical model, KBB found the 2022 Corvette to be the top-rated sports car with the highest percentage of overall resale value. Over the years, Chevrolet has provided the Corvette with the best of the best in terms of style and performance. The luxury sports car features a stylish interior and comes equipped with the latest in technology and driver-assist features like Magnetic Selective Ride Control. As a luxury sports car, the 2022 Corvette also proves quite affordable. With some of the highest performance standards and top-notch driver-assist features, it’s no surprise to see the 2022 Chevy Corvette racking up awards.

2022 Chevy Corvette Has Best Resale Value, Says KBB

The 2022 Chevy Corvette was recently the recipient of Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value Award. This award is determined by KBB’s statistical models which estimate how much of the original value a vehicle will retain over five years. According to KBB, much of a vehicle’s resale value is based on supply and demand. Some vehicles like the 2022 Corvette, however, retain a high percentage of their original value as they are often not discounted from their original MSRP.

Vehicles included in KBB’s Best Resale Value list are projected to retain about 56 percent of their original value in comparison to the average 43 percent for 2022 model year vehicles. The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette currently starts at an MSRP of $62,195 (plus destination fee) so, based on KBB’s model, the luxury sports car is well worth its price, especially given its capability and features.

For the 2022 model year, the Chevy Corvette comes equipped with a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 engine that’s capable of 495 horsepower and 470lb-ft of torque. Owners making use of the dual-clutch automatic transmission combined with the Corvette’s new Magnetic Selective Ride Control feature will find that they can maintain control even at the highest of speeds. With some of the highest performance standards, it’s no wonder the 2022 Chevy Corvette earned KBB’s Best Resale Value Award.

Chevy Corvette Sees Impressive Q3 Sales, Ranks First Among Premium Sports Cars

The Chevy Corvette recently enjoyed impressive third quarter (Q3) sales in the United States. The luxury sports car managed to surpass its previous Q3 sales by about 60 percent. Chevrolet is certainly enjoying the increased popularity as its Corvette model ranked higher than competitors by huge margins. The automaker has been turning its focus on electric vehicles lately, a move many other automakers have seemed to attempt. Chevrolet has teased its all-new all-electric Chevy Silverado and they have also hinted at a potential new electric sedan that may or may not replace the Camaro. It’s always a positive when an automaker can capitalize on its current lineup while continuing to meet consumers’ demands and interests. Electric vehicles have become a hot topic as of late given the climate crisis, but as seen with the Corvette’s sales numbers, it seems some folks are still looking to drive high-performance sports cars.

Chevy Corvette Sees Increased Sales Overall

The Chevy Corvette saw delivery numbers totaling 10,166 units in Q3 of 2021. This was an increase of 59.97 percent compared to the 6,355 units sold in Q3 of 2020. As for the entire year, the premium sports car saw sales increase about 96 percent to 24,748, compared to 12,634 the previous year. This increase was seen mainly in the first nine months of the year. These numbers allowed the Corvette to become the best-selling model in its class. Following the Corvette was the Porsche 911, then the Porsche 718, and after that came the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT in fourth. Overall, the Corvette managed to outsell all its rivals.

Corvette sales for the year included all Corvette body styles, variants, trim levels, and packages. In each quarter of 2021, the Corvette managed to post strong numbers. During each of its quarters, the Corvette accounted for at least 51 percent of the segment share. It should be noted that many competitors in the segment cost significantly more than the Corvette (the C8 starts at a base price of $58,900 [plus destination fee]). This may explain why rival sales numbers were as low as they were. Still, the Corvette managed to solidify its status as a desirable sports car.

Given the strong sales numbers, it’s clear the Corvette C8 line has more room for growth. Higher-performance variants are still on the way. Some of these include the C8 ZO6, C8 E-Ray, C8 ZR1, and the C9 Zora. The C8 Z06 will be the first variant to launch for the 2023 Corvette model year. As these variants continue to release, it’s expected that Chevy will see even greater sales numbers for its sports car. As long as production at the GM Bowling Green plant and the GM Tonawanda Engine plant continues without pause, Chevy should continue to see its Corvette reign at the top of the sports cars sales list.

General Motors Offers Customers All-New 350 Small Block Crate

Crate Miami Lakes Automall

General Motors has made new plans to offer customers a new 350 cubic-inch small-block V8 crate powertrain. Any owner that is looking to add more power and strength to replace an engine can opt for this new crate. GM has this crate box to serve as an option for trucks, vans, and SUVs built from 1987 to 2002. Updated with CNC machining, renewed part designs, and a warranty, it’s set to be the go-to replacement for owners searching for a new engine and years of service ahead. While General Motors and Chevrolet are planning on expanding their EV lineup, they have this 350 small block option for those who want to keep older vehicles running.

More On the 350 Small Block Engine

General Motors has built the 350 small block before, going back multiple years and generations of different vehicles. The engine was produced originally back in 1967 for the Chevy Camaro. The 350 small block would end up becoming an engine option across the entire Chevy lineup.  The engine would eventually become updated and modernized. The Chevrolet’s current crate engines actually still take after the 350 small block as a base engine. Since 2005, GM has produced and sold over a quarter-million 350 crate engine to various companies and buyers. The design is over 40 years old today, but if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. This is the testament to the strength of GM’s engineering.

Gain the Power of the 350 Crate Sooner Than You Think

Concerning the crate offered today, it is an updated design that is entirely brand-new; the powertrain is not remanufactured or refurbished in any way. CNC machined block castings and cylinder heads, as well as forged steel crankshafts, new valve covers, new oil pans, and new timing covers. Customers have the choice of three trims available that will work across various GM vehicles including a standard Gen 1 for trucks, vans, and SUVs built from 1987 to 1995, a Gen 1e LD for light-duty trucks from 1996 to 2002, and a Gen 1e HD for heavy-duty trucks from 1996 to 2002. Keep in mind, every new 350 block crate will come with a standard 3-year/100,000-mile warranty; whichever comes first. GM hasn’t announced the pricing, but has revealed the engines are available to order through dealerships starting in August 2020.

Chevrolet’s Ultimate Playlist

The Chevrolet brand has been an ultimate powerhouse automotive brand for over 100 years and undoubtedly has had quite an impact on the industry. Ways that one might not expect that the truck-focused company has had an impact is in pop culture, specifically in the music industry. Singers like Elton John, Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift and more have all gained some level of influence in their songwriting from Chevrolet in one way or another.

Miami Lakes Automall is joining in on the fun to jubilate World Music Day…only a day later. Our writers have compiled a list for you to enjoy on your summer vacation of the most iconic Chevy inspired songs. Rock out to Chevrolet’s Ultimate Playlist!

American Pie by Don McLean

“So bye-bye, Miss American Pie, drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry.”

This 1971 rock and roll classic sung by Don McLean became a massive success and stayed on the charts in North America for four weeks and also dominated the list in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. It was also notable for the frequently mentioned phrase “The Day The Music Died”, in reference to the plane crash of 1959 that killed legendary performers Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens.

Crocodile Rock by Elton John

This 1972 song simply embodies the rock ‘n’ roll, dating and youthful independence of that era. It was a pre-single for upcoming album Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only the Piano Player. The musical genius gives Chevy a shoutout with his lyric “an old gold Chevy and a place of my own.”

Little Red Corvette by Prince

Funk-rock God, Prince released his mega-hit single, Little Red Corvette in 1983 and became the most popular song of that time, as well as his first song to reach the top 10 in the North American charts. In 2016, Chevy issued a print ad with its famous sports car and with a caption of Prince’s lyrics “Baby that was much too fast”

The One I Loved Back Then by George Jones

Country legend George Jones also showed love to “America’s Sports Car” and sang this 1985 and also dubbed it “The Corvette Song”. In the song, Jones compares the similarities between fast Corvettes and beautiful women.

99 In the Shade by Bon Jovi

In 1999 In the Shade was produced by double-platinum selling rock band, Bon Jovi in 1988, with a feel-good summertime vibe and energetic tempo. The song includes the lyrics “I got the radio blasting in my old man’s Chevrolet.”

Mud On The Tires by Brad Paisley

Country music singer Brad Paisley wrote this song in 2004, in which he sings about at long last getting a loan in order to buy a spanky new Chevrolet, “I’ve got some big news, I’m holdin’ the keys to a brand-new Chevrolet…”

Camaro by Kings of Leon

American band, Kings of Leon rocked the house in 2007 with its Camaro song, with the lyric “She looks so cool in her new Camaro.” The Chevrolet Camero is another popular sports car by the company and highly sought after during its 36-year reign.

Tim McGraw by Taylor Swift

The once country-music sensation turned mega pop star Taylor Swift wrote her first single naming it after country music legend Tim McGraw in 2006. She also gave a shout out to one of Chevy’s pick up trucks with the verse “Just a boy in a Chevy truck, That had a tendency of gettin’ stuck”

Red Camaro by Rascal Flatts

“I saw a red Camaro today

And I did a double take

I thought I saw her face”

Country music group pays homage to the lovable Camero in 2010 as apart of the band’s seventh studio album dubbed “Nothing Like This”. Although it wasn’t the most popular song on the record, the album ended up going platinum, and we’d like to think it had a little help from the Chevy brand.

2020 Corvette Is Officially A Classic In Less Than A Year

Corvette Miami Lakes Automall

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette has transformed into an instant classic seemingly overnight. It has become an exclusive sports car with only 2,700 vehicles built so far due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This has allowed the brand new Corvette to undergo a true transformation. The prestige of the eighth-generation Corvette has grown because production will not resume for an unknown set of time. A resolved strike with the United Auto Workers (UAW) came just before Coronavirus would again slow down the rate the “C8” would be made. As a result, the slowdown for the production has helped make the 2020 Corvette that much more exclusive.

Good News For Chevrolet Fantastics

Despite the slowdown of production, the good news is that there will be a continued run for the 2020 Corvette (eventually) set to add a much larger set of availability. The bad news is that we don’t know when, but we currently have some Chevrolet Corvette models and ready to go for those who want to drive the Corvette. Keep in mind that to start 2020, Chevrolet was able to begin building the new Corvette in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Production began on February 3, 2020. The mid-engined Corvette finally began rolling off the assembly line, customers began taking delivery, but its launch derailed again when General Motors started to shut down its North American factories to curb the spread of the Coronavirus. Bowling Green built its final Corvette on March 20, according to Consumer Guide.

Where the 2020 Corvette Left Off

The place where the Corvette models are made is located in Bowling Green. Corvette Assembly plant manager revealed in an interview that exactly just 2,700 examples of the 2020 Corvette were built between February 3 and March 20, 2020. A spokesperson for Chevrolet told Autoblog that GM “will continue to build 2020 Corvette Stingrays when the plant resumes production.” So the total number of 2020 Corvettes is likely to increase, but we don’t imagine the increase of the production will grow exponentially. And that means the 2020 will become one of the rarest regular-production models in Corvette’s history.

Corvette Sales At the Start of Each Decade

With less than 3,000 models moved, let’s remind customers how many Corvette models are sold. Chevrolet sold 10,261 units of the Corvette way back for the 1960 model year, 17,316 for the 1970 model year, and a whopping 40,614 in the 1980 model year. Sales for the 1990, 2000, and 2010 model years moved 23,464, 33,682, and 12,194, respectively. And, 34,822 seventh-generation cars were made during the 2019 model year, with 2,953 ZR1 models powered by a 755-horsepower V8 engine were sold. General Motors has stopped taking orders for the 2020 model. General Motors previously announced the production of the 2021 Corvette will start on September 1st, 2020.

“Further information will be forthcoming from Chevrolet regarding the handling of sold 2020 model year [cars] that we will be unable to accept, and the creation of a replacement 2021 model year sold order,” the company told its dealers. This suggests customers waiting for a 2020 Corvette may end up with a 2021 model instead.

New Chevrolet Corvette C8 Has Convertible On the Way, Hits New Top Speed

2020 C8 Miami Lakes Automall

Chevrolet has unleashed its latest Corvette in the summer of 2019. The eighth-generation Corvette, known as the C8, is the first mid-engine Corvette ever made. Soon the first mid-engine Corvette convertible will be available for customers to enjoy. In October, Chevrolet and General Motors have a planned a reveal for the legendary sportscar. The Corvette C8 has recently made headlines with its incredible speeds, hitting a top speed of 194 miles per hour. This speed was captured at a Chevy event that saw the C8 Stringray trim hit the wildly fast speed. The race track was located in Papenburg, Germany where Chevrolet often travels to test their vehicles in various top-speed ways. For this testing, they actually were able to hit the 194-mph mark running on the track in either direction. (Now, that’s wicked speed!)

Slide Into The Convertible Corvette C8

According to Corvette Assembly Plant Manager Kai Spande, the Corvette convertible is set to debut “in the October timeframe”. This wasn’t news that was expected to be let out, but those are the expected plans. Interest will remain quite high in many regards as this is still a relatively brand new vehicle that many dealerships haven’t gotten ahold of just yet. The C8 convertible is still months away with a 2020 debut expected. October will just be the real sneak preview for what the look will be like, inside and out and open-air models show pop up in showrooms around the end of winter. The expectation is that the convertible will have multiple powertrain options including the 490 horsepower 6.2-Liter V8 engine as well as the 495 horsepower with the optional Z51 performance package. Each C8 provides an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic that is standard for every trim. The expected price for the convertible Corvette C8 is to be around $10,000 more than the base trim that is currently priced at $59,995 MSRP (plus destination fee). Curious for more information on the Corvette C8 possible engine selection?

More on the 2020 Corvette C8

As drivers today expect more than ever before out of their vehicles, the Corvette C8 provides a remarkable experience for owners. As the standard equipment boasts a fantastic interior with infotainment features like a 10-speaker Bose sound system, 8-inch infotainment system screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto options. The 12-inch gauge display and LED headlights are a plus, as are the eight-way power seats with dual-zone automatic climate control perks. To get into some of the futuristic features, the trim above the base model Stingray is the 2LT that provides wireless device charging, heated and ventilated seats, blind-spot monitoring with a navigation system that includes satellite radio.

The highest trim is the 3LT that equips better seats for the driver and passenger, a leather-wrapped interior with suede upper trim. Each trim provides the 6.2-Liter V8 engine but the Z51 Performance Package can move the horsepower from the standard 490 horsepower to 495 horsepower. Twelve exterior color choices can be overwhelming for some to pick one, but not only does the C8 have lots of body color choices, but owners can also choose from six interior themes, six-seatbelt color options, and two alternative stitching upgrades to select from. Want some help from the Corvette experts about what to decide on? We can help all at one place.

The Next-Generation Chevrolet Corvette C8 Has a Release Date

2020 C8 Miami Lakes Automall

Chevrolet has recently shown off their all-new, next-generation “C8” Chevrolet Corvette. With a single photo posted amongst the various Chevy social media outlets, what appears to be a base model Stingray C8 has captured widespread attention as the vehicle is hidden underneath protective covering with “07.18.19” plastered on the side of the vehicle. Rumors have been swirling for many years about Chevrolet having a mid-engine supercar and General Motors has now confirmed this news. The former “Automobile of the Year” winner by Automobile Magazine and named to back to back Car and Driver “10Best list” in 2018 and 2019, Chevrolet looks to blow away the competition as it has since inception back in 1953 when the Corvette debuted.

Speculation Grows For Chevrolet Corvette C8

Many have wondered what powertrains the all-new C8 will provide. Car and Driver have shared the news that Chevrolet will probably be revamping the 6.2-Liter V8 engine, which should provide about 500 horsepower. It will be named the LT2 to denote the position of the engine. Not a whole lot of information has been revealed, as the vehicle has literally been kept under wraps. Chevrolet has plans to begin production between September and December 2019. Will the Corvette C8 have a twin-turbo after all? Early reports have also listed over 1,000 horsepower for the highest-trim.

Chevrolet Has Plans To Give Back With Final C7 Corvette Sale

The previous-generation C7 ran from 2014-2019 and is winding down sales. Chevy has committed to auction the last-ever built Chevrolet Corvette C7, an all-black z06, for charity at the Barrett-Jackson-Northeast Sale in Connecticut on June 28, 2019. Proceeds will go to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, providing some funds to injured service members as well as help pay off mortgages for families of first responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

“The sale of this iconic Corvette will help the foundation continue its good work, and pave the way for the Next Generation Corvette that we will introduce on July 18,” General Motors CEO Mary Barra

Final Official Word on the C8

When pressed for details about the upcoming next-generation C8, Chevrolet, unfortunately, had no words to express about the upcoming supercar. We will just have to wait for the date, July 18th, brightly posted in red on the hidden C8 model. Though they didn’t say much, the debut is right around the corner this summer. Pricing has been speculated at around $63,000 for the base Stingray Corvette.

“Thanks for reaching out. We’re not providing details on production timing at this point.” company spokesperson Kevin M. Kelly said. Auctioning the last one in June suggests that C7 assembly is ending sooner, though.
