2023 Chevy Blazer
Towards the beginning of this year, Chevrolet revealed that they would release their mid-size Blazer in 2023, in an electrified form. However, before this SUV dumps the gasoline pump, the automaker is still giving its standard Blazer a revamp for next year, involving the enhancement of its styling on the outer body and augmenting the interior with a larger touchscreen.
While the visual details for the upcoming Blazer are nearly inconspicuous, the interior shakes things up with its high-mounted LED running lights, which are sleeker and bleed into a new grille design. This grille design is now mated to the central headlight unit through a C-formed trim piece.
Going to the back, you’ll see that the taillights receive new LED light signatures. There are also new available wheel designs: 18-, 20-, and 21-inch. Along with these new kicks are a slew of paint colors, which encompass Fountain Blue, Sterling Gray Metallic, Copper Bronze Metallic, and Radiant Red Tintcoat.
Inhouse, all upcoming Blazers will receive a 10.0-inch infotainment screen, which is an upgrade of 2 inches. It’s also getting wireless charging capability. The RS model will also get a Nightshift Blue interior. The mid-sizer will continue to have its offering of a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, with an output of 228 horsepower, or a 3.6-liter V-6 producing 308 hp. Both powertrains will still be mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, with front-wheel-drive (FWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) offerings.
SS Performance Variant
Recently, the division of General Motors announced that on top of its electrified version for the Blazer, it will be releasing a performance-centered SS trim. A teaser video that was released last week, (March 9), showed the SUV following a bundle of other announcements regarding electrics, encompassing the GMC Hummer EV and Chevy Silverado EV pickup trucks, which all use the brand’s Ultium battery technology.
A short time ago, Chevrolet showed us the first images of its Equinox EV, an electric SUV joining the company’s other compact crossover in their electrified form. Strutting a unique design, the newest Equinox will go on sale by the fall of next year. It was also at this time that the automaker mentioned its EV version of the Blazer, bringing along with it a performance SS model.
It’s worth noting that the teaser video doesn’t reveal too much. It opens up showing a charger being disconnected from a port behind the front left wheel. The second shot shows the charging port while also revealing black plastic cladding around the wheel well and what seems to be a sharply sloped hood. One can also get a quick glimpse of the Ss badge at the button of one of the wheel’s six spokes.
Chevrolet says that the Blazer will be its first EV to receive a performance SS badge when it’s introduced later this year. While the company didn’t explicitly mention this, it’s presumed that that EV version will be offered in a way that’s centered on comfort. The Blazer SS is set to go on sale in the Spring of next year, and it’s also expected that it will include the Ultium batteries.
The exact pricing will be revealed as we get closer to the on-sale date, but it likely won’t change too much from the current Blazer’s price ranging from $34,595, (plus destination fee) to $45,195, (plus destination fee).
