The 2024 Chevy Equinox EV Provides A Satisfying Round Off To GM’s Portfolio

2024 Equinox EV

It’s safe to say that 2022 has been an electrifying year for Chevrolet, General Motors (GM) subsidiary. After parading around a slew of electric vehicles such as the Silverado EV and Blazer EV this year, the rollouts continue with the all-new 2024 Equinox EV; an affordable SUV made to provide an easy and seamless transition to an electric vehicle.

“We are at a turning point where EVs will be the mainstream choice for the next generation of customers, and Equinox EV will lead this charge for us,” said Mary Barra, Chair and CEO of General Motors. “With the flexibility of GM’s Ultium Platform, we are bringing to market vehicles at nearly every price point and for every purpose.”

The base Equinox EV 1LT, with a starting price of about $30,000 (plus destination fee), brings this Chevy model into the compact SUV segment and is expected to be the most inexpensive EV in this category. It should conclude the most important segments of the company’s EV portfolio: full-size trucks, midsize SUVs, and compact SUVs. It will also have an estimated 300 miles of range on a full charge.

Chevrolet is now positioned to offer a wide array of EVs,” said Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet. “We know truck and SUV customers better than anyone, and we’ve channeled that insight and experience into our new EVs.”

On top of the Ultium-derived propulsion technologies, interior features consist of a large infotainment screen w/ an available 17.7-inch-diagonal system, a suite of standard and available driver assistance technologies, and available Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology for compatible roads.

“The Equinox EV is an EV for everyone,” said Bell. “It’s an affordable game-changer, offering an uncompromising experience, with more features that won’t change your daily routine — except that you will no longer have to stop at the gas station.”

Super Cruise Technology

GM’s hands-free, semi-autonomous Super Cruise driving assistant made its first introduction in the now-retired Cadillac CT6 luxury sedan and has slowly made its way to particular models in the automaker’s portfolio, such as the Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Silverado, Chevy Bolt EUV and GMC Sierra. Many of GM’s next-gen electrics also involve the Super Cruise technology, including the all-new 2024 Equinox.

The Equinox EV will offer the Super Cruise as an option in the 2LT trim and above. This means those opting for the base 1LT will not get access to the Super Cruise system. Overall, 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trim levels, together with the sport-themed 2RS and 3RS, are among the trims offered for this new SUV.

The Super Cruise technology necessitates an active plan or trial, which begins at $25 per month as a standalone. The subscription for the Super Cruise can also be tacked onto specific OnStar plans for an extra $15 per month. This technology, also called an SAE Level 2 semi-autonomous system, permits hands-free driving on over 200,000 miles of North American and Canadian highways deemed compatible. This technology can also enable auto-lane changes and is harmonious with a trailer on certain GM vehicles.

The exact details and ordering for the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV will be available closer to the beginning of production, which is set to take place at the General Motors Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico. When the time comes to make your purchase of their latest EV iteration, be sure to do it at Miami Lakes Automall. We sell a wide variety of vehicles from the brand that range in several different shapes and sizes.

Which 2022 Chevy Equinox Trim is Right for You?

There are a plethora of compact crossovers, but one of the most popular is the 2022 Chevy Equinox. Updated for the new model year, the Chevy Equinox offers consumers a stylish and affordable SUV that brings new features to the table. While Chevrolet has been busy working on the all-electric Chevy Equinox EV, those considering the gasoline version still have the choice of a solid compact SUV. The 2022 Chevy Equinox offers four trims, each offering more than the last. We’ll explore each one and see what consumers can expect.

2022 Chevy Equinox LS

As the base 2022 Chevy Equinox, the LS serves as the most affordable trim that still offers a lot. Each Equinox trim comes equipped with a 1.5L four-cylinder engine capable of 170 horsepower and 203lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet did away with the more powerful 2.0L, but for the 2022 model year, the automaker has updated the compact crossover SUV with a new grille, distinctive headlights, and a new front and rear bumper. These updates provide the Equinox with a more modern look that helps it stand out among competitors.

The LS trim comes with four-wheel drive although all-wheel drive is available. This is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Inside the SUV, owners will note a stylish interior with modern tech. The LS features a 7-inch touchscreen as well as a six-speaker audio system. It also has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. For safety, the 2022 Chevy Equinox comes with Chevy Safety Assist which includes forward-collision alerts, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and lane-departure warnings. The LS trim starts at an MSRP of $25,800 (plus destination fee).

2022 Chevy Equinox LT

The second 2022 Chevy Equinox trim is the LT. Starting at an MSRP of $26,900 (plus destination fee), this trim proves to be the most popular trim. The LT is not much more than the LS, but it offers more features. These include a chrome and body-colored exterior as well as additional driver-assist and convenience features. These features come included with the LS Convenience package and consist of satellite radio, power-adjustable seats, a heated steering wheel, and illuminated sun visors.

Inside the LT trim, owners will enjoy a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, remote engine start, and a power liftgate. The safety suite also gets blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts. There’s also an additional infotainment package which includes an 8-inch touchscreen, an upgraded navigation system, a high-definition backup camera, and a 120-volt power outlet.

2022 Chevy Equinox RS

The next tier up for the 2022 Chevy Equinox is the RS trim. This trim adds a sporty aesthetic with 19-inch wheels and a black exterior trim. It starts at an MSRP of $30,100 (plus destination fee) and combines the previous trim’s Confidence and Convenience and Infotainment packages. It also adds more like front and rear park assist with LED taillamps, a Bose premium 7-speaker audio system, and heated driver and passenger seats. Inside, owners will note a unique knob shifter, red stitching, and black upholstery. The RS also features a Hit the Road Package which includes roof-rack cross rails/side rails and molded assist steps.

2022 Chevy Equinox Premier

The last and highest level trim offered with the 2022 Chevy Equinox is the Premier. This trim starts at an MSRP of $31,000 (plus destination fee) and offers the most features out of all the trims. It has a higher quality interior cabin with French stitching along with gloss-black trim on the console. The Premier trim also offers the Hit the Road Package but upgrades the  Confidence and Convenience and Infotainment packages. The trim offers 18-inch machined aluminum wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, and body-color door handles with chrome surround.

Inside the Premier trim, owners will enjoy the Chevy Infotainment 3 Plus system which comes with a 7-speaker Bose premium audio system. The compact crossover also features additional safety features like an HD rear vision camera. There’s also adaptive cruise control and a safety alert seat setting that helps identify potential crashes. Whichever trim consumers choose, each proves rather affordable with the latest in driver-assist and convenience features.

What to Expect from Chevrolet in 2022

Chevrolet will be bringing a host of updates to its lineup for the new model year. These updates will consist of minor and major changes that consumers will be sure to enjoy. The updates revolve around both exterior and interior changes. As of late, Chevrolet has been focusing on producing electric vehicles. The all-electric Chevy Bolt has proven quite successful, but Chevrolet wants to produce even more. The latest of these new electric vehicles is the Chevy Silverado EV and the Chevy Equinox EV. Both have been teased, but not much information is available yet. For now, Chevrolet is focusing on improving its combustion engine lineup. We’ll dive into some of the expected changes and updates.

2022 Chevy Silverado

One of the vehicles receiving a major update is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado. Starting at an MSRP of $33,800 (plus destination fee), the pickup will be getting a new refresh. This will update its trims with a single-bar grille as well as a lowered hood and lower LED headlights. The pickup truck will also get a new 355 horsepower 5.3L V8 engine that comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This will replace the base V6 engine.

The 2022 Silverado will also receive a new 13.4-inch touchscreen and electronic gear shifter. For the ZR2 crew cab model, owners will note new position-sensitive shocks, front and rear electronic locking differentials, 33-inch mud-terrain tires, red tow hooks, skid plates, and a steel front bumper. The 2022 Silverado will also receive new driver-assist features like automatic emergency braking, active lane control, and a rearview camera mirror.

2022 Chevy Equinox

Next on the list is the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. The compact SUV starts at an MSRP of $25,800 (plus destination fee). It will receive new front and rear fascias, a slimmer grille, and new LED headlights and taillights. Chevy will also be dropping the turbo-4 engine from the base trim. The SUV will now feature a 170-horsepower turbo-4 engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. There’s still the choice for either front-wheel or all-wheel drive, however. The RS trim will feature black 19-inch wheels, black exterior elements, and a black interior with red stitching.

2022 Chevy Colorado

The 2022 Chevrolet Colorado will also receive some updates, although only minor. Starting at an MSRP of $25,435 (plus destination fee), the midsize pickup truck will see a new Trail Boss package. This package will feature a 1-inch suspension lift, front and mid skid plates, red tow hooks, 17-inch black wheels, and all-terrain tires. The ZR2 trim will also feature a higher 2-inch suspension lift. It will also see a 3.5-inch wider track, 17-inch aluminum wheels, front and rear electronic differentials, adaptive dampers, and heated front seats.

2022 Chevy Corvette

Everyone’s favorite sports car will be getting a powerful new engine for the 2022 model year. Starting at an MSRP of $60,900 (plus destination fee), the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette will be receiving a new 5.5L V8 engine capable of 670 horsepower and 460lb-ft of torque. This will be one of the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engines to come to the Corvette. It’s reported to be capable of hitting a 0-60 mph time of 2.6 seconds.

2022 Chevy Blazer

Last on the list is the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer. Starting at an MSRP of $33,400 (plus destination fee), the midsize SUV will receive new front and rear styling along with new LED light signatures. KBB Says That The 2022 Chevy Equinox Is Comfortable and Under $30,000

2022 Chevy Equinox

The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox SUV is getting high praise from the automotive editors at Kelley’s Blue Book (KBB). The Irvine, California-based vehicle valuation and automotive research company, recently put in the latest Equinox on its list of Most Comfortable Vehicles Available To Buy For Under $30,000.

The company that’s owned by the Cox Automotive subsidiary of Cox Enterprises published its list of most comfortable vehicles and deconstructed particular vehicles that they deem are the most spacious, tranquil, and ride the smoothest on the current market. The latest Equinox SUV ranked on this list, right ahead of the highly praised 2022 Honda Accord and incredible roomy 2022 Suburu Outback.

Editors at KBB gave high remarks over the design of the seats in the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, combined with its extensive cabin space and its excellent range of available in-car conveniences. Some of these comforts include standard keyless entry, push-button start, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four USB ports, the Teen Driver system, General Motors’ OnStar telematics system and subscription-based 4G LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi.

More safety-oriented features consist of forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.

Higher trims offer things like a power driver’s seat, surround-view camera, leather interior, and a power liftgate. The Premier trim gets a new automatic parking assist, while the RS model receives darkened exterior aesthetics and unique interior accents.

“A compact crossover with a comfortable interior, the Chevrolet Equinox offers a good range of standard and available features,” KBB says of the hot-selling Chevy. “Seating is plush and supportive with standard cloth surfaces that become leather on higher trims. Adding visual appeal is the RS trim with red contrast stitching. There’s ample room for five adults with good headroom and legroom for rear passengers. Available options include a power driver’s seat, heated seats, and a premium audio system.”

It wasn’t much of a surprise that the vast majority of these models happened to be crossovers, as vehicles in this segment are known for having a softer suspension and longer travel capability than regular passenger models. These types of vehicles are more equipped to handle potholes and grooves in the road, which is ideal for daily driving or long road trips.

These vehicles are also quite roomy and often consist of a great selection of standard active safety features. Having said that, there were some sedans that crawled their way into the bottom of the list, including the previously mentioned 2022 Honda Accord, as well as the 2022 Toyota Camry, 2022 Hyundai Sonata, and the 2022 Nissan Altima.

The high-ranking vehicle on KBB’s list was the 2022 Honda CR-V. Following this were the 2022 Toyota RAV4 and 2022 Subaru Forester.

2022 Chevy Equinox v. 2022 Chevy Trailblazer: Which One is Right for You?

The Chevy Equinox has been one of Chevrolet’s best-selling SUVs. The compact SUV offers an affordable choice for consumers favoring ample cargo and passenger space. It also comes with the latest safety and technology features so drivers can enjoy a smooth driving experience. The Chevy Trailblazer is another SUV that offers similar features as the Equinox. Smaller than the Equinox, the Trailblazer poses a more affordable alternative to the Equinox. It’s a subcompact SUV with the latest technology and safety features. Both SUVs can appear quite similar, so we’ll dive in and compare the two SUVs to see which is the more optimal choice.

2022 Chevy Equinox

The 2022 Chevy Equinox has seen a lot of success since its release. Chevrolet provided consumers with an affordable and spacious compact SUV that’s engaging to drive. Starting at $25,800 (plus destination fee), the 2022 Equinox features a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that’s capable of 170 horsepower and 203lb-ft of torque. The engine can come paired with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and it uses a six-speed automatic transmission. Although 170 horsepower may not seem like much, it’s enough to keep the Equinox going. The compact SUV can even tow up to 1,500 pounds so it’s perfect for family trips.

For 2022, the Equinox received some styling updates including a wider and more aggressive grille. The rear also looks more rugged and with higher trims, owners can opt for bigger wheels and a gloss-black grille. Inside the compact SUV, owners will note a comfortable interior. With 63.9 cubic feet of space with the seats folded, owners can have ample room for cargo or equipment. The touchscreen is modern and comes compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Regarding safety, the 2022 Equinox features forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warnings, and lane-keeping assist. Higher-level trims come equipped with driver-assist features like adaptive cruise control.

2022 Chevy Trailblazer

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer is one of the newest members of the Chevrolet family. Starting at $21,600 (plus destination fee), the Trailblazer comes as a subcompact SUV that’s roomy and engaging. The subcompact features 54.4 cubic feet of cargo space but despite this, it remains roomy and spacious inside. The 2022 Trailblazer makes use of a 1.2L turbocharged three-cylinder engine that’s capable of 137 horsepower and 162lb-ft of torque. There’s also a second engine option which is the 1.3L turbocharged three-cylinder engine capable of 155 horsepower and 174lb-ft of torque. The subcompact SUV also comes paired with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Looking at the 2022 Trailblazer, owners will note a sportier exterior compared to the Equinox. Its angular lines and two-tone roof add to this sporty element. Inside the subcompact SUV, owners will note a 7-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The interior is comfortable and higher trims add a touch of luxury with leather material. Regarding safety, the 2022 Trailblazer features Chevy Safety Assist suite which includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warnings, forward-collision alerts, and automatic high beams.

The Verdict

The 2022 Chevy Equinox and 2022 Chevy Trailblazer are two great SUVs. The Equinox is the larger of the two, and as such, it comes with a higher price tag. This increased price gets drivers a larger interior cabin and a stronger engine. If space isn’t too much of a concern, nor power and speed, the 2022 Trailblazer comes out as the more optimal choice, given its more affordable price. Both SUVs feature similar safety and driver-assist features so really it comes down to preference.
