If buyers are waiting for the next-generation of Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban, they won’t have to wait for much longer. GM Authority has reported that both SUVs will get a revamp soon and we’ll be able to get a preview as soon as December 10th of 2019.
Chevrolet has been quiet about them launching their most significant vehicles. There are spy shots all over the internet, and several speculations have been born because of the high-riding models that are seen. However, there are reports which show there is an imminent reveal which is going around, and the teaser is keeping buyers and enthusiasts on the edge of our seats.
The Suburban and Tahoe will be riding on an independent rear suspension setup. The platform for the Tahoe and Suburban is expected to ride on the GM T1 ladder-frame platform. It is known to be prominently on the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. Chevy is situating itself on the same ground as its rivals. It’s most noticeable with the Ford Expedition vehicle.
As for the exterior design, both vehicles will have new lighting configurations and a new fascia. But the most prominent new design is the inclusion of the front air curtains which will be better for fuel-efficiency. As the 2021 specs aren’t available yet and assuming there are no powertrain changes coming, let’s take a look at the 2020 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban offer.
THE 2020 TAHOE PERFORMANCE:
There are two performance options for the 2020 Tahoe. Standard on the Tahoe is the 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 engine, which comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The combination of the engine and the transmission on the Tahoe provides lots of power and quick acceleration.
Available is the 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8, which helps deliver speedy acceleration. With this engine, there is a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Tahoe has a V8 engine base that gives the vehicle 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Average figures for a large SUV. The Tahoe gets 14 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway with the 6.2-liter V8 engine.
When the 2020 Tahoe is properly equipped it tows up to 8,600 pounds. Standard on the vehicle is the trailering equipment which includes the trailer sway control, a 2-inch receiver and a trailering hitch platform. As a piece of optional equipment, there is a two-speed transfer case, an integrated trailer brake controller, an air-leveling suspension, and a higher rear axle ratio.
THE 2020 SUBURBAN PERFORMANCE:
The 2020 Suburban comes with a standard 5.3-liter V8 engine which makes 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. That combination alone capably moves this large SUV with ease.
The same optional 6.2-liter V8 engine for the Tahoe is available for the Suburban. It produces 420 horsepower and the 460 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a modern 10-speed automatic transmission.
The trims with the 6.2-liter powertrain have a quicker acceleration but it comes with a premium of more than $20,000 above the MSRP of the 5.3-liter Suburban. The base engine and the standard rear-wheel drive, return an EPA-estimate of 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. The four-wheel-drive trims get 14 mpg in the city and deliver 21 mpg on the highway.
The estimate for the 6.2-liter V8 engine is not that different. The rear-wheel-drive trims get 14/23 mpg on the city/highway. The four-wheel-drive gets 14/20 mpg on the city/highway.
As for the towing, when it’s properly equipped, the Suburban can tow up to 8,300 pounds. Drivers looking for a towing machine with great interior cargo space consider the Suburban an appealing alternative to a full-size pickup truck.

The 2020 Silverado is taking a page from the 1990s. Back then, you were able to get a Silverado 1500 with a V-8 diesel. But since then, Chevy has stopped offering a diesel half-ton truck, and the Silverado 1500 has had an all-gasoline engine since; until now.
The Silverado 1500 for 2020, takes the vehicle in 7 seconds from 0-60 mph- at least the Silverado RST Duramax. It has an outstanding performance, and it completed a quarter-mile at 90.7 mph in 15.4 seconds. Talk about fast!
The numbers are close to what the Ford F-150 diesel 4×2 delivers. The F-150 goes from 0 to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds. The F-150 ran the quarter-mile in 15.6 seconds at 88.9 mph.
The 1500 Duramax 2WD can tow up to 7,600 pounds. If you think about it those numbers aren’t bad, and it feels even better when you’re driving it. The vehicle has lots of torque and the diesel engine is buttery smooth.
When it comes to pulling the trailer, it pulls effortlessly and the 10-speed automatic transmission shifts swiftly. The Silverado doesn’t struggle when pulling all that weight and going uphill it performs flawlessly. Talk about effortless.
On the 1500 Duramax, Chevy is offering its invisible trailer technology for those who do a lot of towing. It uses the camera that is installed on the back of the trailer which works with one the rear cameras that’s on the trucks’ rear and creates an image on the infotainment screen; which allows for the view of the rear (without the trailer) to be seen. When the trailer is so big that it blocks your rear visibility, this is a nice feature indeed.
The updates on the vehicle are noticeable. Diesel engines are known for being obnoxiously louder than their gas counterparts, but that’s not the case with the Duramax. The engineers of the vehicle made sure that the engine was quiet and they made improvements to the trucks NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) to have a smoother ride.
Although there aren’t many updates on the interior, the updates made are nice additions considering the lack of a new interior. New on the vehicle is an 8.0-inch touchscreen which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is also a new HD rear camera that projects a better image when the driver is backing up to a trailer.
As with all Silverados, there are new additions to the bed. There is the standard CornerStep which is built into the bumper which gives the Silverado an advantage over its competitors and there’s also a three fixed tie-down on each corner. The bed also adds more volume to the truck; the designers added 3.5 inches on each size which accommodates larger objects.
The Silverado Duramax RST 2WD starts at $28,300 (plus destination fee). The LT starts at ($38,000 plus destination fee), the LTZ starts at $43,000 plus destination fee), and on the High Country starts at $53,000 (plus destination fee). The 3.0-liter Duramax is available on each trim for an additional $9,395 upcharge. Many people are happy that Chevy is offering a diesel engine in the Silverado 1500 and the engine’s performance and capability is an added bonus as it makes it stand out from the crowd.

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado is getting a face-lift as the pickup truck goes under the knife for the 2021 model year. The revisions to the front and rear end include a new bow-tie badge on the grille and the word “Chevrolet” embossed across its tailgate. Some designs are different for the ZR2. The truck’s WT, LT, and Z71 trims have a new grille and a lower fascia design.
The Colorado model features flow-through lettering on the grille and bowtie. The badging on the ZR2 blends the grille into the front bumper, and it compliments the ZR2 nicely. The grille and badging are great for setting the vehicle apart from other truck models.
The ZR2 exterior adds tow hooks, which complement the lengthy list of off-road-minded features. For 2021, the Colorado vehicle has front and rear electronically locking differentials, a skid plate to protect the underbody, and a 2.0-inch lift and 3.5-inch full track. The wider track is standard to the Colorado.
For 2021, the Colorado’s grille loosely resembles the full-size counterpart. The details on the Chevy’s lower fascia are hard to see, but it looks very similar to the one on today’s model. The models having a similar fascia will give it familiarity that buyers will definitely notice.
The lineup for the Colorado will now feature a more significant difference between the trims. There’s a new color addition to the exterior paint color, and that’s the “Sand Dune Metallic” paint color, which will be available as an option on the Z71 and ZR2 models. We can only imagine how much better it’ll look, the dustier it gets.
“We’ve sold 520,000 Colorado pickups in five years through a relentless, foot-on-the-gas approach to product and feature updates,” said director of marketing for Chevrolet Trucks, Bob Krapes. “With its new-look front end and tailgate, Colorado will now have a more aggressive appearance to match its award-winning capability.” The new-look could benefit the sales on the Colorado, but that’s just speculation for right now.
Chevrolet hasn’t said anything about what’s under the hood of the Colorado, but enthusiasts have their theories. Many believe that what’s under the hood will be the current crop of powertrains to carryover. According to mortor1.com, it will include today’s 186-hp turbodiesel 2.8-liter inline-four, 200-horsepower 2.5-liter inline-four, and 308-hp-liter V6 engine.
The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado made its debut on October 10th at the 2019 Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic in Laughlin, Nevada. Pricing remains a bit of a mystery, but Chevrolet has stated that the updated mid-size pickup will go on sale in 2020. So those who want the updated mid-size pickup won’t have to wait long.

“Retail sales of the Chevrolet Silverado are exceptionally strong, and when combined with record third-quarter retail sales of the GMC Sierra, we have the industry’s leading truck franchise,” said spokesman Tom Henderson. The battle of the pickups is underway, and the Chevrolet Silverado is amongst its contenders. On the list are Ford, Fiat Chrysler, and the Chevrolet Silverado.
The Ford F-Series has been a story lead the majority of the year holding on to second place in the truck wars, but with the third quarter in the books, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has more to crow about. GM, however, is selling more trucks. That’s in part to the Sierra line, which was up solidly for the quarter.
Although Ram sales increased during the third quarter of 2019 from 14%, which was 142,044 to 161,635, it was the Silverado who saw a significant jump. The increase was 16% (percentage-wise, it might not seem like anything), but that increase was from 133,329 in sales to 155,482. Ford’s F- Series fell 6% while Fiat Chrysler and GM saw their sales rise.
“Whatever the outcome in any one month or quarter, based on what incentives and promotions are offered, the long-run trend is for Ram to permanently surpass Chevrolet into second place,” said auto adviser and market analyst Jon Gabrielsen.
GM and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have released quarterly sales results. Something other car companies such as Acura, Hyundai, and Mitsubishi do as well. In the wake of the UAW strike against GM, the impact on the company is expected to halt the pickup truck sells.
But not to worry, GM is not giving up. Michelle Krebs, the executive analyst for Autotrader, believes that the fewer trucks being sold will affect the profits at GM in both the third and fourth quarters. Krebs believes it “since pickup trucks account for the bulk of income,” but she confidently acknowledged that “third-quarter sales results saw the limited impact from the strike because of the timing,” according to usatoday.com.

Amazon Alexa is coming to an infotainment system near you. General Motors is adding Alexa to its Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, and Buick vehicles in the first half of 2020. “One of the broadest rollouts of an embedded Alexa Auto experience,” announced General Motors on October 2nd, 2019.
It will be added as a software update to compatible 2018 and newer cars, trucks, and crossovers. The upgrade will require compatible hardware and an existing 4G LTE connected services plan. “This brings the best of two fantastic companies,” Santiago Chamorro, said vice president for Global Connected Services, GM, Santiago Chamorro GM’s vice president of Global Connected Services. “We have listened to our customers and their insights are clear, they want to carry those ecosystems into their vehicles.”
The announcement was made at Amazon’s hardware event, which happened on September 25th, 2019, according to the verge. This isn’t the first news that Amazon announced, as it announced back in Septemeber that Google will provide in-vehicle voice, navigation and other apps in other vehicles. Amazon Alexa will be available on GM’s Buick’s, Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC vehicles starting in 2021.
When it came time to make the announcement, GM used the Amazon event to call attention to its ability to use vehicle connectivity such as iBooks and Apple Podcasts. Amazon’s “updateable” app structure would allow it to bring new innovations into its vehicles. The software updates have become important for automakers that are hoping to retain tech-savvy customers. It’s a plus for those customers that have become accustomed to constantly improving smartphones.
“GM’s updateable app framework and vehicle connectivity lets us provide customers with new technologies that enhance the ownership experience, even to customers with vehicles that are already on the road,” said Chamorro. “Bringing the Alexa experience to our vehicles is an example of how we are listening to our customers’ feedback, and offering them the voice technology of their choice.”
This isn’t Amazon’s first car-rodeo as they’ve been moving towards car integration for a few years. Alexa, like Amazon’s direct investment in startups like Rivian, is just another one of the automotive integration for Amazon. In 2018, the e-commerce company that launched Amazon Key also expanded to the Key by Amazon In-Car delivery service.
Volvo and GM were the first to participate in the Key by Amazon In-Car delivery service. When Alexa is added to the GM vehicles it will allow owners to use voice commands to control smart home devices like the home lights and find nearby restaurants. It will also allow for the voice commands to check the news and ask directions to points of interest.
As for directions, Alexa features integration with GM’s embedded navigation systems and OnStar’s Turn-by-Turn navigation that uses easy-to-understand language. GM Owners will still be able to ask Alexa to play a song or podcast and Alexa will understand. Alexa will be able to fulfill any request that is available in the streaming services.

There is another sedan hybrid model being put out to pasture in the U.S. market. Green Car Reports says that Chevrolet is abandoning the Malibu Hybrid for the 2020 model year, and Chevrolet confirmed it to motor1.com in an email. With sedan passing on, Chevrolet doesn’t have a hybrid offering in its lineup.
If buyers are looking to purchase an electric vehicle from Chevy, the only new option is the all-electric Bolt subcompact. There’s been a lack of demand for an electric vehicle and that’s the reason behind Chevy abandoning the decision. The sedan sales, in general, have plummeted in the North American market, and the Malibu isn’t immune to the changing tides.
There haven’t been specific sales figures for the hybrid variant. Malibu’s sales were down just over 22 percent in 2018. The Cruze trim fell nearly 23 percent and the brand’s flagship Impala sedan dropped over 25 percent.
Both of the models got the ax, not to mention the plug-in hybrid Volt which had a 10 percent drop in 2018. The Sonic hatchback, which is in the Chevy lineup, had a 30 percent drop in 2018. Don’t be surprised if it disappears soon.
There’s a possibility that Malibu could be dismissed as well. Rumors are circulating that the sedan could be cut at the end of the current lifecycle, which has until the end year of 2024. The mid-sizer has received a modest facelift for the 2019 model year, and it’s a competitive contender in the market as it has a base price of $23,240 (plus destination fee).
While Malibu sales are down, Chevrolet has sold over 144,000 vehicles this past year. The hybrid might be a goner, but it seems that GM is trying not to let go of Malibu just yet. GM has already filed for the Bolt EUV trademark.
GM Has Filed for ‘Bolt EUV’ Trademark
On October 2, 2017, GM outlined what an “All-Electric Path to Zero Emissions” would do, they also announced a new electric offensive with 20 new all-electric vehicles which are set to launch in 2023. They also want to launch two new electric cars in the next 18 months which will be based on the Bolt EV. “In the next 18 months, GM will introduce two new all-electric vehicles based off learnings from the Chevrolet Bolt EV,” said Motortrend.com
However, the 18 months have already passed, and there have been no signs of those new electric vehicles that they promised. GM has said that they have released those two vehicles already: they are the Baojun E200 and Buick Velite 6 EV, the only two China vehicles that are produced by joint-venture partnerships in China. A few days later there was another report from GM that came out filing a new trademark for a vehicle called the ‘Bolt EUV.’
Motortrend.com can’t understand how GM would consider the Baojun E200 and the Buick Velite 6 EV as the two newest Bolt EV-based electric vehicles. If GM had used those vehicles to make it look like they had indeed respected their timeline and had actually launched an actual new Bolt EV-based electric car, how they would have pulled it off would have been funny to see. Either way, it seems that the writers at Motortrend are happy to see that there is some evidence out there that GM is still working on the vehicles.
General Motor is still planning on launching in 2023 at least 20 new electric vehicles. They have been seriously considering naming the new vehicle Bolt EUV. GM Authority reported on April 9th of 2019 that they have filed a trademark application for “Bolt EUV”.
With the trademark filing is confirmed, the name will be used for vehicles such as the “motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles.” There haven’t been any actual facts, but it’s believed that EUV could stand for “Electric Utility Vehicle.” Nothing has been confirmed except that there’s a new vehicle Bolt.

Chevrolet has outdone itself with the C8 Corvette. Some might be critical on the styling, and others may believe a “real” Corvette must have its engine in the front. The C8 Corvette is a mid-engine vehicle that can hit up to 60 mph in three seconds, and it has a price of just under $60,000 (plus destination).
It has enough styling cues which can give them the recognition as a Corvette. Buyers and armchair enthusiasts are still enthralled with the vehicle. It’s a topic that many buyers are bringing into conversations when it comes to purchasing.
The folks over at Motor Trend have spent some time with the C8, and they have unearthed six of the interesting tidbits about the vehicle that isn’t general knowledge for the public. Some of these facts are pretty well known – especially to those Chevrolet Corvette owners. However, there are a couple of neat Easter eggs that Motor Trend has discovered.
Something GM has told the public in the C8’s reveal is that the top fitting in the trunk isn’t any big news. The Corvette unlock button on the key fob can be held down to open the windows; there’s also a hidden button that opens the C8’s trunk. The hood release is located above the left vent on the lower fascia so you can open the hood without having the key or getting in the car if it’s unlocked.
The C8’s engine hood doesn’t have to be slammed to close, its soft-close. It’s something that buyers and prospective buyers will learn very quickly. The speaker grille, which is between the seats, actually displays the Corvette’s winged logo, but they can only be seen from certain angles.
There are more logos on the Corvette’s rear glass, along with the frit. Instead of seeing the little black dots, there are small Corvette logos in its place. There will be more things to learn as the car enters production.
The Latest Generation:
The C7 Corvette was introduced in the 2014 model year after having a three-year delay, and it marked the return of the name Stingray. Compared to the car that it replaces, the C7 Corvette has a more aggressive exterior design, squared-off taillights, a departure from its predecessors. There is a 6.2-liter V-8 under the hood which is rated at 455 to 460 hp, depending on whether the car has a performance exhaust.
The Z06 vehicle returned in 2015 with a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 which was rated at 650 hp and 650 lb-ft. Chevrolet also brought back the Grand Sport in 2017 featuring all the suspension bits from the Z06, such as the larger alloy wheels, and the available aero kit. For 2019 the new seven-speed automatic transmission is standard while the eight-speed manual is offered as an option.

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado offers a lot of features to make life easier for drivers while towing, including the expanded availability of the 6.2L L87 V8 gasoline engine. The trucks’ latest tech offerings outside the engine bay also come into the picture. As first introduced by the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD, the new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers a technology package that includes an innovative tow camera system which provides up to 15 different angles around and behind the vehicle, with the image of whatever is behind the trailer being relayed directly to the center of the infotainment screen.
One of those views is the “see-through” trailer view, which essentially makes the trailer disappear. Dubbed HD Surround Vision with Two Trailer Camera Provisions, it’s a very cool feature, and it’s pretty useful when hitching up or already hitched up, as seen Chevy’s latest advertisement. At 30-seconds in length, the video is brief but does well to demonstrate the power of the camera system, and the pickup owners (not actors, as per Chevy’s ongoing ad campaign) certainly seem to like it. Seeing the trailer disappear with a push of a button, it will undoubtedly confuse some people who weren’t expecting it.
For example, the expanded availability of the 6.2L L87 V8 for the 2020 model year means the towing capacity for the properly-equipped Silverado RST models is now at a class-leading 13,400 pounds. Buyers can also purchase the big eight in the LT Trail Boss and Custom Trail Boss models.
The additional updates for the 2020 model year include the introduction of Vertical Trailering Mirrors, which pairs nicely with the invisible trailer camera view for those looking to do some serious towing. As for the drivetrain, updates include a broader availability of the new 10-speed automatic transmission, which is a replacement for the outgoing eight-speed automatic offered on 4WD High Country models as well as LT Trail Boss models with the 5.3L L84 V8 engine. The 2020 model year also sees the launch of the 3.0L inline six-cylinder LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine option.
There’s the introduction of the Adaptive Cruise Control and the HD Surround Vision which is replaced with the HD Surround Vision with Two Trailer Camera Provisions, delivering an available 15 unique camera views to make trailering more convenient. The new availability of smart trailer technology allows access to select features of the iN-Command Control System from ASA Electronics through the myChevrolet mobile app, compatible with Android and iOS smartphones. There’s also a through the in-vehicle trailering app on the vehicle’s infotainment system via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatibility.
The 10-speed automatic transmission replaces the 8-speed automatic transmission on 4WD High Country models with 5.3L V8 L84 EcoTec3 engine and the LT Trail Boss model with the 5.3L V8 L84 EcoTec3 engine. The expanded availability of 6.2L V8 L87 EcoTec3 engine, now available on the TrailBoss Custom, the Trail Boss LT and the RST 4WD. The introduction of the performance upgrade package for a 6.2L V8 L87 engine adds a cat-back performance exhaust system and performance air intake.

There’s a chart allegedly showing General Motors’ future engine offerings for the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 floating around on the internet, bringing an abundance of new rumors for the upcoming Corvette’s performance trims. The leak is fresh from a member in the Corvette Forum, who claims to have obtained a photo showing the future lineup of the C8 Corvette from a “guy who knows a guy.” There is no confirming the validity of the leak; however, it does tick quite a few boxes for the C8s enthusiasts, that they have have been expecting to see released during the C8’s lifespan.
For example, there is the LT6 code which is said to identify a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V-8, and although it’s smaller in displacement, it reportedly carries a strong punch, with 620 pound-feet of torque. This power rating places the motor square in the sights of the Z06, though it raises eyebrows to expect GM to release a lower-output engine for its new flagship sports car. Perhaps for a new Grand Sport vehicle?
If you want to feel more adventurous then more power could be the answer. The LT7 platform has reportedly slapped twin-turbochargers onto a 5.5-liter V-8 which produces 850 horsepower; which is a good fit for the future ZR1, which is still a rumor. The specifications for the LT7, allegedly leaked, create a bit of confusion when compared to previous reports which had placed GM’s eyes on a Blackwing-based 4.8-liter twin-turbo platform, although neither has yet been confirmed or denied.
Perhaps the most interesting is the inclusion of the electrification across the LT platform. The LT7 is listed as being available in both a traditional internal combustion engine with 750 pound-feet of torque or an electrified behemoth with a monstrous 922 lb-ft. There’s even mention of the LT2 (which is currently in production) being eyed for a form of hybridization.
When GMAuthority reported all of the mid-engines for the Corvette C8’s, the specifications for the LT6 match the, soon-to-be discontinued, next-generation of Camaro. So while there might be some claim to legitimacy, it might be more believable to think of the chart as a list of pre-production considerations for the C8 (especially considering that the LT2 is listed with 469 horsepower rather than the actual 495 horsepower). Maybe a list of general in-development engine programs.
While what’s in the chart doesn’t seem wildly unrealistic, it’s essential to treat this particular rumor with a heavy dose of skepticism. If it did come from GM, there’s no telling if this specific range of engines has made it through the chopping block and whether it will find their respective places in the mid-engine sports car.
When reached out for comment, a Chevrolet spokesperson didn’t disclose on the rumor. The Chevrolet spokesperson said the following: “We don’t engage in rumor and speculation, but I can tell you that’s not a document familiar to the engineering team.” This could very well be a fabrication of the member in the Corvette Forum.
It is believed that the first production units of the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette could start coming out of Bowtie’s Bowling Green, Kentucky, factory as early as September 2019. Industry analyst Auto Forecast Solutions told Autoline that the C7 production would end in August 2019. That’s when the plant would switch over to the new model by the following month.
The rumor doesn’t line up with the previous speculation about the mid-engine Corvette production. Reports published have indicated that Chevy had updated the factory and that it was able to assemble both the next-gen model and the existing ‘Vette on the same production line. If they did this, the company could continue to fill the demand for the current, presumably less expensive model as well as the mid-engine C8.
The September 2019 production start date matches the reports of the mid-engine Corvette which is going on sale in the 2020 model year. However, the debut could take place much earlier because the rumors have been suggesting its unveiling since the North American International Auto Show which happened in January 2019. A trademark registration indicates that the name Zora might appear somehow on the new ‘Vette, which is a nod to the original model’s father, Zora Arkus-Duntov, according to motor1.com.
The mid-engine ‘Vette has a turbocharged engine, but reports have indicated that the base version of the road-going model would have a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 with around 460 horsepower (343 kilowatts). A 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 with about 650 hp (485 kW) would be available as an upgrade. A rumored range-topping variant allegedly uses a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 making 850 hp (634 kW).

There’s a prototype for the redesigned Chevrolet Suburban that has been spotted, which reveals a few clues about the upcoming SUV. General Motors is redesigning its full-size fleet around the T1 body-on-frame platform for SUVs and pickups as you’re reading this. The platform for the vehicle is an evolution of the current K2 design and it sheds some steel for aluminum to reduce the pounds. It might help the new Suburban shed about 300 pounds.
Last year, the T1 platform made its debut in the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 and the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The redesigned Suburban is expected to arrive at dealerships as a 2021 model in the second half of 2020.
A redesigned version of the smaller Tahoe should be out shortly. GM is also working on redesigning the related GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. The vehicles are all built at the same plant in Arlington, Texas.
This Suburban prototype has a lot of camouflage gear, but as for the design of the vehicle’s face, especially the headlight treatment, it looks to have been borrowed from the latest Silverado model. Viewers can also see the angle of the C-pillar through the camouflage gear, as well as the graphic of the taillights, can also be seen.
Although the engineers tried to hide the rear axle, they weren’t very successful as it can be seen that there is an independent rear suspension instead of this generation’s solid rear. This could be in direct response to Ford’s latest Expedition, and it should significantly improve the vehicle’s comfort levels. The other big news is the broader range of powertrains that are expected for the new Suburban and there’s a good chance that a new 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-4 with cylinder deactivation fitted can be seen— that’s correct, a 4-cylinder Suburban.
There is an advanced powertrain, which makes 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque, that has already been announced for the Silverado. The 5.3-liter V-8 is available, possibly with the more advanced Dynamic Fuel Management cylinder deactivation technology which can vary the engine’s firing between one and all eight cylinders. At the top of the range could be the 6.2-liter V-8 with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque currently available in Suburban RST trim.
2019 Chevrolet Suburban Interior:
The 2019 Suburban’s has an upscale interior that grabs anyone’s attention from the moment they step inside; it has an artful shape, high-end materials, and excellent fit-and-finish seem more appropriate for a luxury sedan than a full-size SUV. The third row on the vehicle has enough foot- and legroom for adults and kids. The high cargo floor provides enough space for the flat-fold 3rd-row seats and under the floor is a handy hidden storage area, so space doesn’t feel wasted.
2019 Chevrolet Suburban Exterior:
The exterior for the Suburban doesn’t share anything when it comes to the components or the design with its Silverado pickup-truck counterpart. The exterior designer for Chevy had a lot of space at their disposal, and they used it well as this SUV is big enough, and it has a presence that is decidedly commanding. The broad front face of the vehicle owns the traffic lane, and it has long, flowing lines which emphasize the Suburban’s considerable length instead of hiding it.
Dimensionally, the 2019 Suburban is about the same size as all those versions of years past. But when talking about full-size SUVs, an inch here or there doesn’t make much of a difference. It’s all about what the buyer is looking for.
2019 Chevrolet Suburban Options:
The Suburban has an extensive available-equipment list. Among its choices is if buyers order the LS trim level with the front bench seat which is Suburban’s most prominent trim and it can haul up to nine people. Any of the trims available can be equipped with the Driver Alert Package which adds low-speed forward automatic braking, IntelliBeam automatic high beams, lane-keep assist, driver-alert seat, and power-adjustable pedals.
