Two of Chevy’s Truck Concepts Displayed at SEMA

carhartt-silverado-SEMA-Miami-Lakes-Chevy

Chevy has long been known for their sedans and performance cars, so of course Chevy had some excellent models on display this year at SEMA, but Chevy’s display at SEMA also featured some really cool concept trucks. This year Chevy partnered up with two very different clothing companies, Carhartt and Hurley, for two truck concepts.

Chevy Silverado HD Carhartt Concept

Carhartt has long been known for creating durable work wear that is popular among hunters, outdoorsmen and people in the farming and construction industries. So it was pretty perfect for a truck company like Chevy to partner up with Carhartt.

The engine on the Silverado HD Carhartt concept is a revised version of the Duramax Turbodiesel V8 engine. This version of the engine is able to produce up to 445 horsepower and a very impressive 910 lb-ft of torque. Wow! The engine is paired with a Allison transmission as well as a off-road suspension with a one-inch lift.

The Carhartt brand is truly integrated into the design of this Silverado HD inside and out. Carhartt interior features like the “duck brown” Carhartt color interior accents on the black leather seats, door panels, and console. Special Carhartt “C” logos as well as well as a special edition Silverado logo on the headrest of the seats as well as the floor mats. Read the rest of this entry >>

Dolphins and Uber Pair Up & Offer New Tailgating Experience

miami-dolphins-uber-miami-lakes-auto-mall

Forget the checklist, planning and packing, there’s a new way to tailgate to Dolphins’ games in at the newly named Hard Rock Stadium. Uber and the Miami Dolphins paired up to create ‘UberTailgate,’ a program that gives Uber users a roundtrip ride to the game and a full tailgate experience.

Many people drive to the stadium because that is the only way to bring all of the tailgate necessities, but ‘UberTailgate’ changes this. With the purchase of tickets to all eight home games, your group of Uber users dropped off at a private tailgating spot that is equipped with a tent, chairs, grill, charcoal and a cooler. Uber guests can bring their own food and drinks or they can purchase food and snacks from the nearby concession that offers all of the usual tailgate food.

This is the first time Uber has partnered up with an NFL team to offer the experience and there are a lot of benefits. Aside from a designated Uber driver transporting drinking tailgaters, it allows people that don’t have tailgate gear to have a great experience without having to go buy it all (grill, ice, chairs, tent, and pay $40 for parking) just to tailgate at one game.

The experience isn’t free, tickets range from $250-$350 depending on the game, but it’s not bad when you split it between friends, it covers a roundtrip safe ride, and when you think about all of the necessities needed to tailgate (grill, chairs, tent, and then the cost of parking $40). There are 20 available spots at each game and they can be purchased at hardrockstadium.com/uber. Read the rest of this entry >>

Chevy Bolt EV Exceeds Range of Tesla Model 3 by 25 miles

chevy-bolt-ev-miami-lakes-automall

Electric cars are becoming increasingly popular each year and one American automaker isn’t shying away from the new technology. Though Chevy is well-known for their powerful trucks and performance cars, they are embracing electric vehicles in a powerful way. Chevy already has a few hybrids under its belt, but in late 2016, Chevy will release its all-new 2017 Chevy Bolt, a revolutionary electric vehicle (EV). The 2017 Chevy Bolt will be one of the most affordable EVs and it will offer the best all-electric range of 238 miles, beating out competitors like Tesla.

2017 Chevy Bolt

The 2017 Chevy Bolt is a mix of new and standard technology features. It is equipped with a 200-horsepower electric motor, a nickel-rich lithium ion battery and the Chevy Bolt has a sleek style inside and out. Car and Driver has predicted that once the Bolt is released, it will jump to the number one spot on their list of electric vehicles.

238-Mile Battery Range

As mentioned earlier, the Chevy Bolt has an EPA-certified range of 238 miles when the 60 kWh lithium-ion battery is fully charged. That means that the Chevy Bolt’s electric distance is better than the 215-mile electric range that Tesla models and the future Tesla Model 3 offer.

With a 240-volt outlet, the battery charges 25 miles every hour, and it is estimated to be fully charged in 9 hours. This may seem like a long time, but if you plug the car in after work and unplug before work the next day it will be fully charged many days of use — impressive! Read the rest of this entry >>

Safety Technology Available on Chevrolet Model Lineup

technology-chevy-cars-mlam

Chevrolet has been the most awarded car company for two years in a row. In addition, to recognizing the brand for the diversity of its lineup and excellence in engineering, Chevy has also earned awards for safety. Chevrolet has proven their dedication to driver and passenger safety by offering up-to-date technologies across their lineup. Here are just a few highlights of various safety features that Chevrolet has available on their vehicles.

Preventative Technology

Chevrolet has been a quick brand to adopt intelligent safety tech systems that have been proven to reduce accidents. One example of all the preventative systems available on Chevy models is on the 2016 Chevy Cruze. The Cruze, like many other Chevy models, is available with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist and Forward Collision Alert. Each of these systems use radar sensors that monitor other traffic near the vehicle.

The all-new Forward Collision Alert warns drivers if they are approaching the vehicle in front of them too quickly. The Rear Cross Traffic Alert monitors traffic behind and on the side of the vehicle and warns drivers about those vehicles on the rear vision camera. Lane Keep Assist notifies drivers when the system detects the vehicle unintentionally drifting from the lane and gently helps steer the vehicle back into the lane if the driver doesn’t take action.

Additionally, all Chevy vehicles are standard with the Stabilitrak Electronic Stability Control System that’s standard on all Chevrolet vehicles. This technology works by automatically helping in situations with low-traction driving situations. When the system detects loss of traction, it improves the vehicle’s chance of staying safe by applying braking and steering needed for safety. Read the rest of this entry >>

Summer Lovin’ + Summer Truckin’ with a Chevy Silverado

2016-chevy-silverado

There are so many reasons that a truck is an awesome car to buy. There are just as many reasons as to why a Chevy Silverado is a great option if you are interested in a truck.

Fishing, Camping, Surfing

Summer means warmer weather, so hopefully you get to spend a little time outdoors enjoying some of the favorite activities South Floridians.  Whether it be fishing with your friends or family, heading out to one of the beaches on a day where there is surf, or heading out for a camping trip in the Everglades or elsewhere, a truck bed is a convenient way to pack up all your equipment.

Off-Roading Adventures

There is nothing quite like literally going off the beaten path during a long summer weekend. But trying to do this in a car will only go you so far, as soon as you hit terrain not meant for a car, you could find yourself stuck. Read the rest of this entry >>
