The 2021 Chevrolet SUV Lineup: Everything To Expect For The New Year

Monday, December 21st, 2020

Chevrolet is offering a package deal when it comes to its compact crossover, full-size SUVs, and utility vehicles for its 2021 model year. New features to expect are pretty minor but also significant, like with special editions and fresh colors, including updates to the engine and trim levels. At the same time, the Tahoe and Suburban will get a complete makeover. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2021 Chevrolet SUV lineup!

2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Now more than ever, subcompact crossovers are becoming all the rage for SUV lovers, and Chevrolet doesn’t disappoint the growing demand for one. The new 2021 Trailblazer is the brand’s entry-level SUV and has a front face that resembles a bit like its sporty cousin, the Camaro. The price seems pretty reasonable at just under $20,000, (plus the destination fee). Two engine choices that are offered include a 1.2-liter engine with 137 horsepower or a 1.3-liter engine with 155 horsepower.

2021 Chevrolet Trax

Chevrolet has another subcompact crossover that’s even smaller than the Trailblazer, which is the 2021 Trax. This model may a bit short but not in its features. The car comes with two new special editions available on the LT trim. The Sport Edition is decked out in black exterior accents, whilst the Midnight Edition fuses black accents with a Mosaic Black Metallic paint color. This car will be a breeze to park and will allow its passengers to take advantage of its storage space by its generous amount of cubbies.

2021 Chevrolet Equinox

The Chevrolet Equinox is a compact sports utility model with a refreshed design for 2021. However, the company revealed that the SUV will really be a 2022 model since the plans for their changes have been pushed back. What you need to know is that the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine has been removed, and for now it’s being replaced by the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder. One shouldn’t fret too much about this, as the 1.5-liter is expected to make a comeback when the new Equinox comes out.

This almost-2021 vehicle will now have an available leather package on the LT trim, which includes black perforated leather-appointed seats, memory settings, an inside rearview auto-dimming mirror, and outside heated power-adjustable mirrors with auto-dimming.

2021 Chevrolet Blazer

The color palette on the 2021 Blazer is getting a bit of a switch-up, as colors like Pewter Metallic, Iron Gray Metallic, Cayenne Orange Metallic, and Cherry Red Tintcoat are tagging along.

The brand’s Safety Assist package gift wraps automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, following distance indicator, and auto high-beams. These goodies come standard on the 2LT, 3LT, RS, and Premier trims.

2021 Chevrolet Traverse

The full-size Chevrolet Traverse is also getting a facelift for 2022 and only minute changes for 2021. Chevrolet’s Safety Assist will outplace the Driver Conference II package and will be standard on the RS, Premier, and High Country. It will also be available on LT.

2021 Chevrolet Tahoe

The restyled Tahoe not only joins a new platform but is also winning with an independent rear suspension and a better ride quality. This SUV is 6.7 inches longer than before and also has increased in its wheelbase.  Third-row passengers now have 40 percent more legroom and 66 percent more cargo volume. Front-seat passengers will also enjoy the 10.2-inch touchscreen.

2021 Chevrolet Suburban

The big and bad Suburban will share the same features as the Tahoe, as well as technologies, but one thing that makes it stand out is that the improvement in the interior space. The Suburban provides more legroom and cargo volume than its predecessor, specifically in the second-and third-row.

2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV

At long last, Chevrolet is bringing on an electric crossover to their lineup. The production of the Bolt EUV will start in 2021, and based on the photos we’ve seen so far, it’s even more impressive than the current Bolt hatchback, with its increase in size and posher design. This car will also have a dashboard design that is more user-friend, as well as a new touchscreen and enhanced interior materials. The brand’s Super Cruise will also prove to be an asset to drivers once they get on the highway.

The 2021 Chevrolet Trax Finally Spices Things Up With Its New Engine

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020

The subcompact Chevrolet Trax was first introduced to us in 2015 and quickly warmed the hearts of SUV lovers, and since then it’s become one of the brand’s most popular cars. This crossover also shares platform space with the fan-favorite Buick Encore. The Trax received a significant styling change in 2017, gaining much inspiration from the automaker’s Malibu car. However, one feature that hasn’t changed is the Trax’s 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. As a matter of fact, Chevy hasn’t changed its engine since it’s first debut, so it’s safe to say that the 139-horsepowered machine is considered pretty ancient in automotive years. While its performance is considered decent enough, it needs a little extra pep in its step in order to continue competing well, and it appears that Chevrolet agrees.

GM Authority states that the 2021 Chevy Trax will finally ditch the 1.4-liter turbo and replace it with a spanking new version of the engine with the same displacement.

This new turbo, dubbed LE2, is not only more current but far more energetic and powerful than before with 152 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. It’s worth noting, however, that loyal followers of the brand might be familiar with this engine, as it used to power the Cruze car (which is now discontinued), where it was geared with an automatic start/stop system. Additionally, there have been some reports that claim that the 2021 Trax will not have this function, but Chevrolet has not yet released specific details.

Taking into account the age of the Trax, and the introduction of its big brother, the 2021 Trailblazer,  one might not have expected the company to have vested much interest in a new engine. This tactic seems even more perplexing since it appears that these crossovers will be in competition with one another. On the other hand, it could be a genius idea, since these crossovers would cater to a different type of audience.

Some car sites like Car Buzz have made the argument that based on market research, the subcompact crossover segment is presently splitting into two separate groups, one being buyers who are looking for something more wallet-friendly as opposed to those who prioritize luxury.  The Trax seems best suited to budget-focused groups, especially since it has a starting price of $21,300, (plus destination fee). The company’s rationale might be that both models have different advantages for different buyers, therefore attracting more customers.

The latest Trax doesn’t need to pay much attention to the Trailblazer anyway because it’s real competition is the Ford EcoSport and Nissan Kicks. Meanwhile, the Trailblazer’s will fight to the death with its rivals, the Jeep Renegade and Toyota CH-R.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer Is Making A Comeback in 2021 With A 28 MPG Combined EPA Rating

Friday, April 3rd, 2020

The Trailblazer’s Impressive MPG Rating

Shoppers who are interested in purchasing a small SUV want the space without sacrificing the fuel economy. The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer was revealed almost a year ago as a compact car offered in its lineup, squeezing between the entry-level Trax and the highly favored Equinox. At long last, an official EPA rating for the Trailbrazer’s fuel mileage has finally been released…kind of…

The newest Trailblazer certainly lives up to its name as it is offered with 1.2-liter as well as a 1.3-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with either front or all four wheels. According to Fuel Economy, there an option for the 1.3-liter AWD model to have a little collaboration with a nine-speed automatic transmission, the highest-spec powertrain option.

Additionally, the 2021 Chevy model earns a 26 mpg rating in city conditions with 30 mpg as the official rating for the highway. In general, this rating a little better than the miniature Trax with its high-spec 1.4-liter turbo three-cylinder and AWD, however, this comparison is very like-for-like. On the other hand, the Trailblazer defeats the larger Equinox despite its arrangement. Those who decide upon the 1.5-liter turbo engine with AWD in the Equinox should know that it would be pretty similar at 27 mpg combined.

It might not seem like it, but the new Trailblazer is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to rising up against the AWD competition. It’s 28 combined mpg rating is perfectly equal to the Honda HR-V, though ranks lower only slightly for the highway and accelerates past the Mazda CX-30 at a rating of 27 mpg combined. The domestic competition also has trouble keeping up with the Trailblazer as the Jeep Renegade matches up at 26 mpg and Ford’s EcoSport model comes in a little behind at 25 combined mpg, even though its closer to the Chevy Trax in size.

The Trailblazer is David in the market of Goliath with its smaller 1.2-liter engine and 4WD still dominating in terms of having better fuel economy, but as a note, the exact figures are not available right now. However, assessing from the estimates from FWD competitors, it is expected that Trailblazer will come in close to 30 mpg combined.

Features To Expect and Release Date

The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer will come out swinging with its spacious interior, the company states that the total cargo capacity is 54 cubic feet with 60/40 split second-row seats folded.

The new Chevy model wouldn’t be so new if it didn’t have updated driver-assist features like forward-collision warning, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking, all of which are standard. Optional features include adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring as well as infotainment features like Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto.

The Trailblazer is set to be released in the Spring this year (2020), and will have a base price close to $20,000, (plus destination fee).

Chevrolet has enjoyed a good year for both innovative new vehicles and more acclaim for their craftsmanship. Chevy found success with their all-new 2019 Silverado 1500 and 2019 Chevy Trax. As 2018 draws to an end, let’s recap the latest Chevy vehicles that have come out. Let’s start with the all-new Chevrolet Silverado, a stunning example of one of the highlights in 2018 for Chevrolet. There’s something for everyone within the latest Chevy vehicles!

All-New 2019 Chevrolet Silverado

The newest Silverado from Chevrolet is an enhanced and well amplified light-duty pickup truck. The 2019 Silverado extended its bed size by 10 cubic feet from the former model and worked to claim the Best-in-class cargo volume, box length and box depth. Through the enhancement of their truck bed, new frame and overall interior, Chevy knew they had to name their truck bed to differentiate itself from other companies. They named the truck bed the Chevy Durabed and it is far more superior than what is offered from the competition in the pickup market. The Durabed is so strong it can endure 72518.9 pounds of pressure-per-square-inch, reaching over double the former Silverado rating from the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado truck.

Not only did the Durabed help raise the value of the all-new Silverado, owners have the choice of three available transmissions, (six, eight and 10-speed options). The Crew Cab models have increased the to over 500 pounds more with the maximum towing capacity up to 12,200 pounds with the 6.2-Liter V8 engine and four-wheel-drive. Owners will also have best-in-class box depth and box length at floor, with the standard box reaching 79 inches, 3 more than the Ford F-Series and Ram 1500. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado starts at $29,795 MSRP (plus destination fee) for the base model Work Truck. The most valuable, superior 2019 Silverado High Country begins at $54,495 MSRP (plus destination fee). Thanks to the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, Chevy has attracted many new customers. (more…)

5 Reasons The Chevy Trax is the Best City-Smart CUV

Friday, December 18th, 2015

Subcompact crossovers are rarely designed for long haul road trips. Their function is not best suited on the open road, but rather in a crowded city. The Chevrolet Trax was created by the General Motors-owned company back in 2013, and has been serving the subcompact crossover segment well, ever since. Seeing the Chevy Trax in Miami is the perfect example of how the subcompact was meant to perform. Maneuvering through crowded city streets, angling perfectly into a tight parking space, and zig-zagging effortlessly through gridlock traffic. That is what the subcompact crossover segment was made for. And the Trax performs brilliantly. (more…)
