The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse is coming our way for its fifth model year for the second generation they are currently in. This time around, it’s bringing in model revitalizations that involve new changes with the interior styling, interior features, and technological gadgets. Particularly, the upcoming midsize SUV is introducing an automatic stop-start engine, as well as a disable switch.
For Chevrolet or car enthusiasts who are not aware, an automatic stop-start engine is a system that is meant to decrease fuel consumption and emissions by way of stopping the engine automatically when the vehicle is idle, such as when coming to a stoplight. When the driver removes his or her foot from the brake pedal, the engine will automatically turn back on, enabling the vehicle to continue moving forward.
There are some who are opposed to this feature altogether, as they claim that the system is actually disruptive because it may cause a (very) slight pause and some not-so-pleasant vibrations throughout the interior. However, the Chevrolet seems to have been making moves to prevent hesitant buyers, as the stop-stop feature can easily become disabled by using the freshly installed disable switch.
The 2022 Traverse SUV isn’t the first product from the automaker to include the automatic engine start-stop system. Their 2020 mid-sized Blazer SUV crossover also encompasses this feature, as well as their 2022 Chevy Equinox compact.
Additional updates are set to come out with the next year’s Chevy Traverse and includes the elimination of their base L trim model. According to the car blog, GM Authority, the LS trim will replace the L’s entry-level position in the Traverse lineup for the following model year.
Moreover, the 2022 Chevy Traverse will bring forth three new exterior colors to its palette, specifically involving Northsky Blue Metallic, Silver Sage Metallic, and Cherry Red Tintcoat. There are also three new hues arriving to swap out with Cajun Red Tintcoat, Graphite Metallic, and Satin Steel Metallic, which will no longer be on the market for the upcoming Traverse for the 2022 model year.
The revamped 2022 midsize Chevy SUV is on schedule for production on August 2, 2021, coming hot off the press at General Motors’s production facility in Lansing Delta Township, Michigan. While the Chevy Traverse was supposed to get a makeover for the 2021 model year, obstacles brought forth for the coronavirus pandemic forced the refresh to get a delay until the following year.
The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse is a whole package deal with its standard V6 engine, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, seating for a maximum of eight passengers, and much more. Standard features include tri-zone climate control, six USB ports, and an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display. Then traction-mode select, deep-tinted rear windows, and high-intensity headlights are all included by stepping up to the LS trim. There are also plenty of optional features and packages that further spices up the look and experience of the SUV.

Three Chevrolet vehicles are losing their entry-level L trims for the 2022 model year, and they are the Traverse, Blazer, and Malibu. It has also been revealed that the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse won’t even have the L trim as an available option, which now makes the LS trim the new base model.
The current 2021 Traverse SUV offers almost all of the same standard features for the L and LS models. The main distinction between the two is that the LS trim has a lot more available options for buyers to choose from. For example, one can bring on either 18-inch or 20-inch gloss wheels, specifically black-painted aluminum wheels, along with a black finish grille and black badging on the exterior. Inward, the Traverse LS also has available cargo nets, floor liners, and packages that you wouldn’t find on the previous base models. It is expected that the LS trim should continue to have all of these aforesaid conveniences available for the upcoming model year.
One con, however, of the 2022 Traverse L’s retirement is that more than likely, the mid-size crossover will now have a higher starting price. The 2021 Traverse L is currently priced at $30,995, (plus destination fee), while the 2021 LS is priced at $34,395, (plus destination fee). It has not yet been confirmed by the automaker whether the starting price of the LS trim will stay the same for the following model year.
The 2022 Chevy Traverse will also get a slightly refashioned design for the exterior, which will encompass modified headlamps and taillamps, a revamped front fascia, and developed grille options. Additionally, buyers will be able to select between Cherry Red Tintcoat, Northsky Blue Metallic, and Silver Sage Metallic for the three new paint colors. This makes up for the fact that Cajun Red Tintcoat, Satin Steel Metallic, and Graphite Metallic will no longer be a part of the color palette.
The Chevrolet Safety Assist package is filled with driver-assistance technologies, which will be standard on all 2022 Traverse models. Our favorite safety features include automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist w/ lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring.
The standard automatic emergency system will intuitively apply the brakes if the system senses an impending collision and the driver doesn’t react. Lane-keeping assist (also standard) warns drivers if their vehicle is drifting too much in the other lane and also has the means to keep the SUV centered. Moreover, the optional blind-spot monitoring warns the driver if there are other vehicles on the side.
Lastly, drivers will be able to connect his or her phone to the infotainment system thanks to wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities. A couple more exciting comforts include the brand’s subscription-based OnStar-connected services with 4G LTE and in-vehicle Wi-Fi, which both come standard.

We carry an extensive range of vehicles from the brand in a variety of different styles and prices. Chevrolet is offering a package deal when it comes to its compact crossover, full-size SUVs, and utility vehicles for its 2021 model year. New features to expect are pretty minor but also significant, like with special editions and fresh colors, including updates to the engine and trim levels. At the same time, the Tahoe and Suburban will get a complete makeover. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2021 Chevrolet SUV lineup!
2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer
Now more than ever, subcompact crossovers are becoming all the rage for SUV lovers, and Chevrolet doesn’t disappoint the growing demand for one. The new 2021 Trailblazer is the brand’s entry-level SUV and has a front face that resembles a bit like its sporty cousin, the Camaro. The price seems pretty reasonable at just under $20,000, (plus the destination fee). Two engine choices that are offered include a 1.2-liter engine with 137 horsepower or a 1.3-liter engine with 155 horsepower.
2021 Chevrolet Trax
Chevrolet has another subcompact crossover that’s even smaller than the Trailblazer, which is the 2021 Trax. This model may a bit short but not in its features. The car comes with two new special editions available on the LT trim. The Sport Edition is decked out in black exterior accents, whilst the Midnight Edition fuses black accents with a Mosaic Black Metallic paint color. This car will be a breeze to park and will allow its passengers to take advantage of its storage space by its generous amount of cubbies.
2021 Chevrolet Equinox
The Chevrolet Equinox is a compact sports utility model with a refreshed design for 2021. However, the company revealed that the SUV will really be a 2022 model since the plans for their changes have been pushed back. What you need to know is that the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine has been removed, and for now it’s being replaced by the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder. One shouldn’t fret too much about this, as the 1.5-liter is expected to make a comeback when the new Equinox comes out.
This almost-2021 vehicle will now have an available leather package on the LT trim, which includes black perforated leather-appointed seats, memory settings, an inside rearview auto-dimming mirror, and outside heated power-adjustable mirrors with auto-dimming.
2021 Chevrolet Blazer
The color palette on the 2021 Blazer is getting a bit of a switch-up, as colors like Pewter Metallic, Iron Gray Metallic, Cayenne Orange Metallic, and Cherry Red Tintcoat are tagging along.
The brand’s Safety Assist package gift wraps automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, following distance indicator, and auto high-beams. These goodies come standard on the 2LT, 3LT, RS, and Premier trims.
2021 Chevrolet Traverse
The full-size Chevrolet Traverse is also getting a facelift for 2022 and only minute changes for 2021. Chevrolet’s Safety Assist will outplace the Driver Conference II package and will be standard on the RS, Premier, and High Country. It will also be available on LT.
2021 Chevrolet Tahoe
The restyled Tahoe not only joins a new platform but is also winning with an independent rear suspension and a better ride quality. This SUV is 6.7 inches longer than before and also has increased in its wheelbase. Third-row passengers now have 40 percent more legroom and 66 percent more cargo volume. Front-seat passengers will also enjoy the 10.2-inch touchscreen.
2021 Chevrolet Suburban
The big and bad Suburban will share the same features as the Tahoe, as well as technologies, but one thing that makes it stand out is that the improvement in the interior space. The Suburban provides more legroom and cargo volume than its predecessor, specifically in the second-and third-row.
2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV
At long last, Chevrolet is bringing on an electric crossover to their lineup. The production of the Bolt EUV will start in 2021, and based on the photos we’ve seen so far, it’s even more impressive than the current Bolt hatchback, with its increase in size and posher design. This car will also have a dashboard design that is more user-friend, as well as a new touchscreen and enhanced interior materials. The brand’s Super Cruise will also prove to be an asset to drivers once they get on the highway.

Riding the waves of its best sales year in its history, the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse readies for the year with a new look, three years after its last facelift. The approaching mid-cycle renovation will include reworked exterior characteristics, improved interior options, new in-car technology, and most notably, additional, no-cost active safety features.
Most prominent on the exterior will be the new LED headlights and taillights allied with an identically reformed front and rear fascias. Accompanying a new and more-angular front grille, the next year’s Traverse already presents itself with a feel that is huskier and boxier than the current model despite the sheet metal between the front and rear clips that remain the same. Also, turn signal indicators are now merged with the daytime running lamps, and four new wheel designs are available.
Additionally, the interior will provide new seating choices, including newly-available conveniences like Andriod Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, a driver-friendly 8.0-inch information display, and a panoramic sunroof. The 2021 Traverse will keep offering USB charging ports in all rows and maintain its best-in-class cargo capacity distinction. All in all, there a quite a few considerate changes that are coming in the large Chevy.
Really it’s the safety gear that has the most considerable advancements. All models of the Traverse now include a more inclusive set of standard driver-assistance systems like automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, front pedestrian braking, forward collision warning, and lane-keep assist with lane departure warning. On the 2020 version of the Traverse, a lot of that equipment prescribed customers to order the range-topping trims or pay extra when going for mid-pack versions, this upgrade makes up for it exponentially.
Nevertheless, Chevy hasn’t just yet cleared up its pathway on active safety. Although its no longer restricted to the range-topping High Country, Chevy is still restricting adaptive cruise control to its swankier models: 3LT, RS, and Premier. For the first time, the Safety Alert Seat will be available, however, as previously mentioned, Chevy is restricting that feature to the Traverse Premier and High Country models only.
Chevy’s release makes no mention of powertrain alterations, so it’s expected that the Traverse will keep 2019’s 3.6-liter V6 and 9-speed automatic transmission.
We are anticipating that the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse will go on sale late this year. Pricing and additional specifications will be available near its launch date.

Chevrolet is taking a strong stance on a group notorious for poor driving habits, bad judgment and a lack of experience: teenage drivers. Among the biggest reasons teen drivers are a threat on the road to themselves and others isn’t speeding as much as it is driving without a seatbelt. Chevrolet has stepped in with a new way to curb this problem. In fact, they have found the perfect solution that won’t just curve this problem, but enhance safety features in a way never before done by the brand. Other automotive companies should take notice, as Chevrolet introduces a feature that will not allow drivers to move unless their seatbelt is clicked-in.
More on Chevrolet’s Latest Safety Measure
Chevrolet’s latest program that has launched is known as “Buckle To Drive”, which is accurately named. This is going to be a standard feature for the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse, Colorado and Malibu vehicles. The way it works is basically, teen drivers will have to adhere to the rule set up by the owner of the vehicle. Parents can easily set up the key fob to a “teen driver” setting that will ensure the only way the vehicle can move from park is by having the seatbelt clicked in. Even better, all the fun options that come with driving, like the sound system and radio will not work unless the seatbelt is fastened in.
Improving On a Good Idea
Chevrolet has had multiple programs and features in previous years that have aimed at making drivers safer on the road. In 2016, Chevy launched a new program called Teen Driver with the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu that would monitor a driver’s behavior and rewarded the driver with incentives. The program included a feature that would silence the radio as well as automatically set off all safety measures including Traction Control, Forward Collision Braking, Stability Control, and Front Pedestrian Braking. This great system was set up using a configurable PIN code and parents could even set how high the volume would be allowed to go with a limit. The best feature? Alerts could be set off if the teen driver hit a certain speed limit. The speed range could be set as low as 40 mph. The over-speed warning system would set off a ping that would go to the owner and registers the infraction. That program was found to help drivers put on their seatbelt at a 17 percent more effective rate than without it, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Chevrolet Is Committed to Improving Standard Safety Features
We commend Chevrolet for raising the stakes even further with this new program that will effectively ensure drivers, no matter what age, can be forced into using their seatbelt. Raising the level of safety will go a long way to ensuring better safety on the road, something we can all appreciate. The newest Chevy vehicles coming out in the next decade will continue to impress and provide amazing results.
“We have been researching this system for quite some time. So, we found this feature that works, and a group of people who could really benefit from it,” said Tricia Morrow, a safety strategy engineer at Chevrolet’s parent company General Motors.
