The 2021 Chevrolet SUV Lineup: Everything To Expect For The New Year

Chevrolet is offering a package deal when it comes to its compact crossover, full-size SUVs, and utility vehicles for its 2021 model year. New features to expect are pretty minor but also significant, like with special editions and fresh colors, including updates to the engine and trim levels. At the same time, the Tahoe and Suburban will get a complete makeover. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2021 Chevrolet SUV lineup!

2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Now more than ever, subcompact crossovers are becoming all the rage for SUV lovers, and Chevrolet doesn’t disappoint the growing demand for one. The new 2021 Trailblazer is the brand’s entry-level SUV and has a front face that resembles a bit like its sporty cousin, the Camaro. The price seems pretty reasonable at just under $20,000, (plus the destination fee). Two engine choices that are offered include a 1.2-liter engine with 137 horsepower or a 1.3-liter engine with 155 horsepower.

2021 Chevrolet Trax

Chevrolet has another subcompact crossover that’s even smaller than the Trailblazer, which is the 2021 Trax. This model may a bit short but not in its features. The car comes with two new special editions available on the LT trim. The Sport Edition is decked out in black exterior accents, whilst the Midnight Edition fuses black accents with a Mosaic Black Metallic paint color. This car will be a breeze to park and will allow its passengers to take advantage of its storage space by its generous amount of cubbies.

2021 Chevrolet Equinox

The Chevrolet Equinox is a compact sports utility model with a refreshed design for 2021. However, the company revealed that the SUV will really be a 2022 model since the plans for their changes have been pushed back. What you need to know is that the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine has been removed, and for now it’s being replaced by the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder. One shouldn’t fret too much about this, as the 1.5-liter is expected to make a comeback when the new Equinox comes out.

This almost-2021 vehicle will now have an available leather package on the LT trim, which includes black perforated leather-appointed seats, memory settings, an inside rearview auto-dimming mirror, and outside heated power-adjustable mirrors with auto-dimming.

2021 Chevrolet Blazer

The color palette on the 2021 Blazer is getting a bit of a switch-up, as colors like Pewter Metallic, Iron Gray Metallic, Cayenne Orange Metallic, and Cherry Red Tintcoat are tagging along.

The brand’s Safety Assist package gift wraps automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, following distance indicator, and auto high-beams. These goodies come standard on the 2LT, 3LT, RS, and Premier trims.

2021 Chevrolet Traverse

The full-size Chevrolet Traverse is also getting a facelift for 2022 and only minute changes for 2021. Chevrolet’s Safety Assist will outplace the Driver Conference II package and will be standard on the RS, Premier, and High Country. It will also be available on LT.

2021 Chevrolet Tahoe

The restyled Tahoe not only joins a new platform but is also winning with an independent rear suspension and a better ride quality. This SUV is 6.7 inches longer than before and also has increased in its wheelbase.  Third-row passengers now have 40 percent more legroom and 66 percent more cargo volume. Front-seat passengers will also enjoy the 10.2-inch touchscreen.

2021 Chevrolet Suburban

The big and bad Suburban will share the same features as the Tahoe, as well as technologies, but one thing that makes it stand out is that the improvement in the interior space. The Suburban provides more legroom and cargo volume than its predecessor, specifically in the second-and third-row.

2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV

At long last, Chevrolet is bringing on an electric crossover to their lineup. The production of the Bolt EUV will start in 2021, and based on the photos we’ve seen so far, it’s even more impressive than the current Bolt hatchback, with its increase in size and posher design. This car will also have a dashboard design that is more user-friend, as well as a new touchscreen and enhanced interior materials. The brand’s Super Cruise will also prove to be an asset to drivers once they get on the highway.

The 2021 Ford Ranger and 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Have An Off-Roading Face-Off

The 2021 Ford Ranger and the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado are two rivals that just can’t quit each other in their mid-sized truck segment, but that’s what makes it so much fun! This time around, it’s a very tight race against the top-spot as they are both very efficient with their towing abilities and customizations. However, one of these brands has a little extra something that the other just can’t compete with, keep reading to find out!

2021 Ford Ranger

The 2021 Ford Ranger is re-introduced for the midsize truck segment with moves that are quite versatile and adaptable in a way that can quickly erase the memory of the previous model. It’s energized by a turbocharged 2.3-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that makes up to 270 horsepower with 310 lb-ft of torque and is paired to a 10-speed automatic transition. This powertrain is the only one that is offered by the two available cabbies, but this doesn’t mean that the powertrain isn’t adept in its abilities. For those who are more focused on carting passengers than actual gear, it’s recommended to opt for the SuperCrew rather than the two close for comfort SuperCab.  The inventive Blind Spot Monitoring has been augmented for towing, and it does this by having the system pay special attention to whatever the truck is hauling. Another exciting option is the Bang & Olufsen 10-speaker Audio System. Available on all models is the brand’s Co-Pilot360 safety suite, though standard on the XLT and Lariat trucks.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado

From the outside looking in, the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado is obviously a truck, but once the driver and their passengers step inside of the vehicle, it will be easy to mistake it for a comfort-focused SUV. The reason for this is because this Chevy truck doesn’t have that overly-energetic bounce that many vehicles in this segment have and it’s also great with steering. Though Colorado provides comfort in its cabin, it certainly doesn’t get too comfortable in pushing out high-ranking performance. Buyers of mid-sized pickups have the unique ability to opt for a diesel powertrain, with the automaker’s 2.8-liter Duramax incredibly skilled with towing and excellent with its mileage. It’s 2.0-liter inline-4 and a 3.6-liter V6 also has 2- and 4-wheel-drive drive systems. Off-road enthusiasts can make use of the Z71 and ZR2 trim levels owing to their rough and tough terrain capabilities. Additionally, the truck has off-roading accessories like a raised suspension, wider track, revamped bumpers, and a serviceable skid plate, that allows for an incredible adventure of a lifetime.

Similarities and Differences

The Ford Ranger and Chevrolet Colorado are comparable with their tough body-frame, varied selection of cabbies and beds, and near-identical towing capacities. With this in mind, one really has to squint to really differentiate one truck from the other, but the 2021 Ranger outranks its rival with its advanced features, fuel economy, as well as the New Tremor package which enhances the truck’s off-road abilities. On the other hand, the 2021 Colorado has the unique advantage of having a diesel option, top-ranking towing, and a noteworthy amount of possible customizations. With the Ranger unable to compete well enough against the Colorado’s diesel, it’s for this reason why it takes the modest but respectable second place trophy in our rankings.

Chevrolet Silverado Introduces New Technology For 2021 Model Year

Owners will have more versatility than ever before using the configurable tailgate can be lowered down in three different places. With the quick hit on the key fob or on the tailgate buttons, the truck bed drops down like a regular tailgate, with another push the bed can have a cutout in the middle, or retract, as well as expand the bed length to serve as a bed stop. The configuration allows for the entire midsection to be lowered down. There’s a setup that allows two-step access over the bed.

A new crop of pickups has added some functionality to the truck bed, but not quite like the Chevrolet Silverado provides. For instance, the 2021 Ram 1500 will offer a split tailgate, however, there are half as many customizable options. The 2021 Ford F-150 will provide an available tailgate (that costs extra) and it also doesn’t have as many configurations as well.

Enjoy the 2021 Silverado Pickup

The 2021 Silverado has received some strength in its towing capacity even with the smaller engines. The 2.7-Liter turbo-4 in rear-wheel drive raises its tow rating 2,500 pounds to 9,300 pounds with the crew cab and the short 5-foot-8 bed. A regular cab with a long bed has a towing capacity of 9,600 pounds. The cooling performance surpassed expectations, allowing it to tow more, Chevy has claimed. The 3.0-Liter turbodiesel inline-6 now has gained a boost in towing capacity of up to 9,500 pounds in rear-wheel-drive models. The towing increase comes from a rear axle that was more durable than expected, Chevy explained.

Like the 3.0-Liter turbodiesel in the 2021 Sierra, the 2021 Silverado turbo diesel is going to see a lower price of about $1,500 less than the previous year. Chevrolet touts its diesel engine as the most fuel-efficient engine with an estimated maximum highway range of 668 miles with best-in-class 23 city mpg and 33 highway mpg for all 2WD models. The 3.0-Liter inline-six powertrain gives owners 460 lb-ft of torque with 277 horsepower.

Upgraded Technology Is Very Apparent

To make life easier on those owners who will use the advanced trailering technology, an available feature provides a camera system that can display vehicles in the blind spots of the trailer. Owners can trigger a jack-knife alert as well. The camera system has an option that displays guidelines and open visibility when reversing a trailer into place. A cargo bed zoom helps owners ease onto a gooseneck hitch or fifth-wheel hitch. Driver assistance features can be added to base trims, and other features are available.

The standard perks of the 2021 Silverado 1500 include wireless smartphone connectivity come for all mid-grade trims and above. The 2021 Silverado goes on sale this fall. There are also features that are offered for midrange trims that extend the luxurious features that come standard for the higher trims. Some of those features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The future of Silverado will gain more features for the 2022 model year, but there are many days ahead before that one comes. To get a closer look at the wonderful Silverado 1500 pickup, we are ready to help our customers drive one today.

Chevrolet Silverado Will Receive Refresh For 2022 Model Year

Silverado Miami Lakes Automall

Everyone who loves the Chevrolet Silverado can attest to its strength and comfortable ride; that’s what has helped Chevy regain its spot as the second-best seller of pickups in 2020. For those that are keeping score, Chevrolet has only had one end of the year finish that didn’t see Chevrolet finish in the top two spots. (Ram just got lucky in 2019!) Well, the news for the upcoming 2022 Chevrolet Silverado shows major updates that will continue to shape the pickup towards what owners are hoping for. The latest spy shots show a similar Silverado that looks agile, but as powerful as ever. The changes can be spotted with a new tailgate and other updates. Let us break down the upcoming changes for the famed Silverado pickup truck.

Changes Coming To the 2022 Silverado

Cars.com gave high marks for the Silverado earlier this year, but we’re certain that 2021 will show the Chevrolet brand taking home even more recognition for its engineering. It could be thanks to the reshaping of the vehicle that includes an all-new fascia and a new two-tiered lighting setup that is found on the 2022 model year. The design of the exterior includes a new thin LED accent and daytime running lights at the top of the fascia, with the primary headlight element mounted slightly lower. The cab of the Silverado looks to be the same as the previous model year, but a new bed step might be added from its 2020 Silverado heavy-duty models

More On the Silverado Refresh

The latest spy photos do not show the interior, but we expect changes inside. The all-new fourth-generation Silverado came out in 2019, but its interior was lackluster compared to the competition for some buyers. The consumers will always be right and Chevrolet listened to its base to revamp the cockpit. GM Authority has said the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado will gain a revised center stack similar to the all-new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban have received. We will have to wait and see how the Silverado looks inside, but from what we are hearing, we are sure its going to appease the fans of the Chevy brand, as every great vehicle refresh does.

We want to welcome our shoppers back to our shop or help them buy online if they wish. We’re ready to assist our customers every day. Experience the difference at Miami Lakes Automall!

Chevrolet Improves Silverado 2500HD Across the Board

Witness the strength and power in the driver’s seat of the new Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. Inside Chevrolet’s new heavy-duty Silverado, owners will note how the 2020 Silverado 2500HD has become stronger and larger overall. Equipped under the hood with a Duramax 6.6-Liter turbodiesel V8 that packs 445 horsepower and a healthy 910 lb-ft of torque, this Silverado maximizes strength owners require. Drivers will note the impressive acceleration offered inside this massive pickup and so much more about this new Silverado 2500HD. Allow us to break down all the facts and components that make the latest Chevrolet heavy-duty pickup a must-have.

Just How Fast and Strong Is the Silverado 2500HD

Owners can readily embrace its 6.5-second 0-60 time, which is leagues ahead of the competition. By comparison, the 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty made a time of 7.1 seconds, and the 2019 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty is nearly two seconds slower at 8.4 seconds. Chevy has found a way to move the 2500HD’s 8,353-pound curb weight thanks to the remarkable powertrain paired to the new 10-speed Allison automatic transmission. Gain unmatched torque with the massive18,500-pound tow rating.

“What an amazingly quick truck. With the driveline set to auto (4WD), this HD leaps off the line like an all-wheel-drive sports car,” said Chris Walton, MotorTrend Road Test Editor.

Improvement Over the Previous Generation

The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD has improved upon its self. With four more gears and the ability to tow more trailer weight, up to 12,500 pounds. There is 3-inch more rear-seat legroom and a 5-inch longer wheelbase. There’s a new 6.6-Liter gas engine with direct ignition. This new gas powertrain can tow 18% more than the previous Silverado 2500HD. Many would believe that with its fast acceleration and large size, this Silverado 2500HD has a 60mph to zero stopping distance of just 134 feet. That’s a refined change compared to the 2017 Silverado 2500HD, which can brake to a halt at 146 feet. Comparing the new 2500HD to the F-250’s remarkably longer 160 feet.

Nice Features To Go With Its Remarkable Strength

Not just a strong pickup, owners can find refinement inside the new Silverado 2500HD. The LTZ trim adds heated and cooled driver and passenger bucket seats, a LOUD upgraded audio system, and extended soft-touch trim throughout the interior. The 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen is clear and responsive; owners can quickly lookup brake pad life, engine hours, and much more. A new camera system is remarkable for owners as the Silverado 2500HD has two extra rear bumper plugs for extra cameras as well as up to 15 camera views through the mirrors, cab, and tailgate that gives a great view through the trailer. What’s not to like with all the strength, improved interior and look? Come find the latest Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with us at Miami Lakes Automall today.

6.2-Liter Engine Silverado To Be Included On More Trims

2019 Chevrolet Silverado Miami Lakes Automall

Chevrolet has decided to be creative with ways to provide their L87 6.2-Liter V8 engine in the hands of more drivers. How could they do that? General Motors (the parent company of Chevrolet) worked on adding the strong powertrain with more Silverado trims. Now customers can experience the massive Chevy V8 powertrain and its remarkable 435 horsepower with three more trim options. Considering a new pickup? We loved the latest Chevrolet Silverado, which was redesigned as the all-new 2019 Silverado 1500. The upcoming 2020 Silverado 1500 is going to surpass this pickup in more ways than one giving customers more options than before.

Changes to the Silverado

Chevrolet made their all-new Silverado 1500 lighter, yet stronger with the 2019 version. Reports have come out that the towing technology will be improved and more powertrain availability is expected. More than half of the trims for the 2020 Silverado 1500 will have access to the available 6.2-Liter V8 engine with its 10-speed automatic transmission. The Silverado will offer three body styles and eight trim levels to choose from, as there is a perfect fit for all customers to drive. The Work Truck is the base trim that is the only single-cab configuration. The Custom is the next higher trim that adds 20-inch aluminum wheels and LED taillights. Custom Trail Boss trim adds a two-inch suspension lift and the available Z71 package that can be added to higher-end Silverado trims is standard. The package adds Rancho shocks, skid plates, Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, and a locking rear differential to safely handle going on roads less traveled. This is one of the trims, along with the LT Trail Boss that can opt for the monstrous 6.2-Liter V8 engine.

Opt for the LT trim, which adds an 8.0-inch touchscreen and available leather seats for a more traditional pickup look. The RST, like the LT, gain access to the 310 horsepower turbocharged inline-four powertrain. This is the first ever turbocharged four-cylinder engine in a full-size pickup and only the LT and RST have the option. The RST can also add the 6.2-Liter V8 engine should a driver want. The strength of the RST was improved as its towing capacity reaches 13,400 pounds with the new powertrain option, thanks to its 435 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque.

Higher End Trims of the Silverado

The most flexible trim might be the LT Trail Boss because of the Off-Road prowess and its standard 5.3-Liter V8 engine paired to an eight-speed transmission. Looking for the luxurious Silverado option? The LTZ is decked out in chrome from the grille to the door handles, wheels and mirrors. The LTZ supplies the 5.8-Liter powertrain and the 6.2-Liter V8 and the turbo-diesel straight-six engine as available choices. The head of the class for all trims is the High Country, which adds bronze accents throughout and integrated dual exhaust tips, fine leather seating, and available 22-inch wheels. Chrome highlights mix in with the bronze to provide a sleek look on the gorgeous High Country trim.

Under the Hood Is Where the Gold Is

Chevrolet is expected to offer their 469 lb-ft of torque V8 powertrain with optional Performance Upgrade Package that will also include a cat-back exhaust and a different air intake for customers. The 3.0-Liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine arrives for the first time with the 2020 Silverado, offered on the LT, RST, LTZ and High Country trims. Owners opting for the diesel engine gain 277 horsepower with a powerful 460 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet introduced the 2.7-Liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engineered specifically for pickup driving. All of these upgrades only add more reasons why customers should consider the latest Silverado. The Silverado 1500 has always had so much to offer drivers, but we hope to have our customers come in for a test-drive to find out firsthand.

Millennials Side With Chevrolet

2019 Chevrolet Silverado Miami Lakes Automall

The automotive industry is currently in the middle of an ongoing change. Waves of popularity have shifted from sedans to SUVs and even pickup trucks. So, who is the largest group of buyers in today’s economy? According to a recent study, Millennials are the ones making those finance choices. The new largest generation in the United States is playing a part in this massive change. This was terrific news for General Motors (GM) and Chevrolet, as this recent study had been published by Autolist.

Autolist, a company whose goals are to assist customers in finding and selling their vehicles, showcases how Millennials choose Chevrolet over other U.S. automotive brands. Remember, the age group for Millennials has been roughly classified as people born in 1981 through 1996. This means all Millennials are between the ages of 23 and 38 today. Autolist collected the data of 1,750 new car shoppers under the age of 36 as a basis for their claim. Which brand came out on top? None other than Chevrolet.

Chevrolet Stands Above the Competition

Auotlist came up with three questions to find out which brand millennials prefer. Among the 1,750 who gave their answers, Chevrolet, above all other brands, was what they chose. The first questions being, “What brand would you be most inclined to consider taking while shopping for a new car first?”.  The next questions had those polled giving a take on their age demographic, “Which brand would your age group most likely choose between Toyota, Ford, Honda, Dodge, Chevrolet, and Ram?”. The answer wound up being Chevrolet. The third and final question was “What brand do you currently drive?” and among millennials who answered, Chevrolet was their answer. So, we discovered Chevrolet is the brand these customers consider represents their age group as Chevrolet is their current brand and they would select it again in the future.

How Chevrolet Has Acquired Loyalty With Millennials

Chevrolet has made their vehicles enjoyable to own, with a modern approach and adapted to include the latest high-tech technology in their vehicles. Millennials expect to drive a vehicle that provides Wi-Fi, which Chevy was one of the first brands to add Wi-Fi- hot spots. Drivers also carry about their safety and Chevrolet quickly adopted Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to help curb cellphone/smartphone use while driving. Chevrolet won over Millennials and their business by being ahead of the curve on these issues. With a wide variety of vehicles to sell their customers, Chevy has won over more fans with their powerful all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. According to Autolist’s top analyst, Chase Disher, the latest Chevrolet promotion was effective at making the point across that their brand is successful. Chevrolet also engages heavily towards budget-conscious Millennials, something that these customers consider with any purchase.

“Chevy is doing a great job of trading on its reputation as a no-nonsense, affordable brand while at the same time adding to its vehicles the stuff younger buyers covet. This includes things like WiFi hotspots, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity, wireless phone charging and an intuitive infotainment system,” said Disher.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Tows More Than the Competition

2020 Chevrolet Silverado Miami Lakes Automall

The latest Chevrolet Silverado HD has increased its towing ability by more than half of its Chevrolet Silverado HD predecessor. With the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, owners can now haul more and expect greater things thanks to the fine work done by General Motors (GM) and their engineering team. The determination by GM and Chevrolet to push the envelope is apparent. Let us share all the details about the newest and massive Silverado HD. The massive Silverado carries a boxed ladder frame made up of mainly high-strength steel. How does this new HD pickup stand out among the other heavy-duty trucks on the market?

2020 Silverado HD > Competition

So, what caused this massive increase in towing ability? The last few years brought about increased competition among rival brands like Ford and Ram. Today’s Silverado delivers 35,500 pounds of maximum towing capacity, which is more than the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty (35,100) and 2019 Ford Super-Duty (30,000). Chevrolet is ahead of the game thanks to a beefed-up chassis and 10-speed Allison-brand transmission. Improved upon engineering even reached the way the engine is cooled thanks to the large front end design with lots of air intakes and a large 28-inch radiator fan.

Looking for choices? The Silverado HD offers plenty with 22 cab, bed, drivetrain and chassis combinations for owners to sift through; owners can build exactly what makes sense for their line of work and preference. Wheel sizes go from 17 inches through 20 inches. The Silverado HD pickups provide longer truck beds than previously produced. For example, the crew-cab models stretch out 10.4 inches longers and 1.4 inches wider. Improvement can be found everywhere including the most important aspect of the Silverado HD.

Powertrain Options Improved Upon

Owners of the new 2500 and 3500 have the choice of a 6.6-Liter, direct-injected Vortec V8 engine that provides 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque or a 6.6-Liter Duramax V8 turbo-diesel that reaches 445 horsepower and 910 ft-lb of torque. The new base engine is an improvement of the previous 2017 Silverado HD pickup’s base trim engine with its 6.0-Liter V8 engine that provided 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. There was an improvement of 41 horsepower and 84 torque. The strength of the Silverado has always been well-known, but going forward, the strength is ahead of the curve and exactly what owners want out of a truck.

Chevrolet Provides Unparalleled Towing

Chevrolet points out that 90 percent of its heavy-duty truck owners use their vehicles for towing. This is why the brand improved the technology and strength simply defined now as Chevrolet’s Advanced Trailering System. The 2020 Silverado HD provides available cameras that capture up to 15 unique camera views as well as an accessory camera attached to a trailer that allows drivers to behind what they’re towing.

GM was able to lower the HD diesel’s axle ratio from 3:71:1 to 3:42:1 to reduce engine speeds for a more silent, pleasant cabin. The all-new 10-speed coupled with stronger drivetrain components enabling diesel Silverado HDs to optimize their full amount of twist in first gear, unlike the prior models. Additional upgrades to the Silverado HD provide a new active two-speed four-wheel-drive transfer case that allows automatic all-wheel-drive function.

Additional Impressive Features

Chevy looked to improve many different facets of the Silverado HD. One of the latest changes involved adding a standard flush-mounted outlet in the front bumper for the engine-block heater for the diesel and available on the gasoline V8 powertrain. The diesel exhaust fluid tank between the frame rails includes a filler spout and a diesel exhaust fluid gauge in the instrument cluster. A polished interior gains all the power of the latest technology and will help Chevrolet Silverado owners step ahead of the competition.

That number reflects a vast 52 percent increase from the previous-generation Silverado HD and is 400 pounds more than the largest Ram HD pickup available today (the Cummins diesel version). Owners will have the choice of five trim options (Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ and High Country with a remarkable 22 cab, bed chassis and driveline configurations.

They Can Build It To Be Stronger, Faster and Better

Chevrolet has invested heavily in making its new HD massive. Expected to be taller, and broader, with a lengthened wheelbase of 5.2 inches for Crew Cab models. In fact, the overall length of the Crew Cab with a standard bed is nearly a foot longer than the previous truck, and it’s almost 2 inches taller. For those interested, there’s plenty inside that has been upgraded to make the Chevrolet HD stand above the competition. Chevy has plenty to say about their products, including the newest 2020 Silverado HD line being built in Flint, Michigan.

“We set out to make the best HD trucks on the market, bar none. We increased towing capabilities across the line, not just for dually buyers. We added class-leading towing technologies, such as 15 available camera views1, to make trailering more convenient, whether pulling a large cargo trailer or a fifth-wheel camper. And we made a host of changes to make tasks easier,” said Jaclyn McQuaid, chief engineer, Silverado HD.

What Is Expected Inside and Out?

What is expected inside? Chevrolet has mentioned every component from the transmission to the wheels are new and upgraded. What has been enhanced? Owners will notice the suspension has improved, made to handle the extra load. The rear axle is enhanced with an 11.5-inch ring gear for 2500HD models and a 12-inch ring gear for 3500HD diesel trucks. There are new larger-diameter prop shafts and the cooling system is upgraded to mitigate heat. A new Allison 10-speed automatic transmission to swap cogs has been added.

Managing that maximum tow rating demands a precise rig choice; a regular cab 2020 Silverado HD with two-wheel drive and dual rear wheels at the back. The required engine for that monumental task is the unmatched 6.6-Liter Duramax turbodiesel V8 powertrain. This massive engine is producing the same 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque with direct injection. That’s more power than you get from rival brands like Ram, though Ford hasn’t released figures for its refreshed upcoming Super Duty.

Drivers can link up their trailer easier than ever before thanks to 15 cameras as part of the in-vehicle trailering system. Electronic trailering apps are being developed to allow for considerable functionality to those towing large RV trailers. Helpful features like auto park brake assist, grade hold help, trailer sway control, and integrated trailer brake control provides hands-on towing assistance. As for passengers, they will enjoy a bit more legroom thanks to a modest three-inch overall increase in interior space.

Chevrolet is thankful for the success of their all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. General Motors had an ace up its sleeve with their line-up of diesel model Silverados, their highly popular and awarded pickup. The good news is there’s more technology being added. In June, the latest refresh from the all-new 2019 Silverado is set to debut. The Silverado HD heavy-duty truck was already lighter, yet stronger than the previous generation, but Chevy will have their newest heavy-duty, the all-new 2020 Silverado HD, by mid-2019.

Chevrolet has gone even further to gain more with less with even greater fuel-efficiency. Known as simply the 2020 Silverado HD, it is a new product for Chevy. With so much focus on the pickup, they have seen good returns on the Silverado and that success will help fund the research GM has for their self-driving projects. Let’s find out how much Chevrolet has invested.

Outlook For 2019

General Motors (GM) pickup trucks combined for a total of $65 billion in annual revenue with the heavy-duty versions of the Silverado and GMC Sierra making up nearly 20 percent of GM’s full-size truck sales. The revised Silverado HD will have competition in 2019 when Ford’s Super Duty is revamped. With GM’s reported sales hitting 210,000 heavy-duty pickups in 2018, the figure is expected to rise in 2019. As sedan sales have trended downwards, it’s less profitable than previous years for American automakers to make them. The latest trucks have more technology included and are more advanced with better engineering than ever before.

“These vehicles have among the highest margins in the business. You have no tomorrow if you don’t sell these trucks today,” said Jeff Schuster, senior vice president of forecasting at LMC Automotive.

Success and Continued Growth

GM reported sales of 210,000 heavy-duty pickups last year as the hope is the upcoming new models will sell even more. GM gains roughly 2 billion dollars through these sales alone before taxes, so the goal going forward is to continue to produce as many new pickups and other light trucks. Despite trucks being more expensive to build, they expect to grow by 1,000 workers to help launch the latest heavy-duty trucks in Flint, Michigan.

General Motors is thrilled that these pickup trucks alone cover the $1 billion a year that the automaker places into its GM Cruise LLC self-driving unit. However, GM Cruise LLC  has yet to bring in revenue and has not yet begun its upcoming ride-hailing service, which set to debut in 2019. GM has an investment to solve the difficult problem of arranging a computer to operate a car. This problem is so costly that GM sold a piece of Cruise to SoftBank Vision Fund for $2.25 billion and another portion of the company to Honda Motor Co. for $2.75 billion. But they are looking to create this service to drive revenue even higher. This isn’t the first time they’ve put money into electric technology.

Electric Plans For Chevrolet

Back in 2016 the Chevy Bolt, GM’s latest electric car sold, lost nearly $9,000 per vehicle for the automaker. Chevy will take steps to ensure they don’t have that problem again. By 2022 the global auto industry as a whole will have spent $255 billion on electric vehicles and an additional $61 billion expanding self-drive technology, according to a report last year from consulting firm AlixPartners. There is no plan to sway GM from making electric vehicles, in fact they are doubling down on making new technology for us all to enjoy. Selling their pickups has netted GM over $9 billion annually and the future will showcase their latest innovations. For the latest Chevrolet pickups, head to Miami Lakes Automall today.
