New Patent Images Suggest That An Electric Chevrolet Is Coming Our Way

Tuesday, August 10th, 2021

Recently, the Chevrolet company published a design patent that demonstrates what could possibly be the next-generation of their Chevrolet Equinox electric SUV. The revamped platform will alter its design and technologies, and we can guess that this new crossover will have to carry a different moniker, but for the time being, it’s certain that this mid-size vehicle will be the electric equivalent of the current model.

Taking into account General Motors’ (GM) position on electrics versus hybrids, we can deduce that these recent publications of the Equinox crossover are a direct reflection of a vehicle that totally does away with relying on gasoline. To further explain, the car company already said that it wants to hone in on efforts towards vehicles that are fully electric, and that its studies reveal customers don’t particularly love hybrids.

Moreover, the illustrations show that the vehicle has a closed front end, which almost mirrors that of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV, along with the Cadillac Lyriq. On top of this, the drawings don’t depict that it will make room for an exhaust system, which is obviously needed for a hybrid vehicle.

On the other hand, other elements that support our theory that this electric Equinox to-be. For example, last November, CEO Mary Barra, said that GM would upgrade its financial undertaking to electrics and self-driving vehicles of $7 billion with the aim of releasing 30 new electrics worldwide by 2025. Even before this statement, the automaker said the GMC Hummer EV pickup truck, and eventually went on to develop the Hummer EV product line together with the Hummer EV SUV.

GM also disclosed the refashioned 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV and its brand-new and larger relative, the Bolt EUV, coupled with the upcoming Cadillac Lyriq luxury crossover. That being the case, Barra went further in explaining that the ongoing microchip shortage won’t affect the company’s rollout for their electric vehicles, however, it has slowed down production of the upgraded 2022 Chevy Equinox SUV until the middle of August.

It’s almost a given that this type of vehicle will make use of the company’s Ultium Drive And Motor Technology, which are made for a wide range of implementations, such as front-wheel-drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and can even be utilized by vehicles of high-performance and off-road capabilities. This highlights Barra’s view that GM has the ability to “put everyone in an EV.”

Although the patent was indeed filed by SAIC-GM (Shanghai General Motors Company) for the market for China, most of the Ultium Drive workings like the castings, gears and assemblies will be constructed with parts that are globally sourced at GM’s current global propulsion facilities on collective, adjustable assembly lines, which means that this model may eventually wander on to the States; Which is safe to say would be aligned with GM’s motivations for global coverage.

While we’re waiting for the new and improved Chevrolet Equinox, as well as other electrified vehicles in the works, Miami Lakes Automall has a plethora of vehicles like the gasoline version of their crossover SUV, as well as a variety of other different models that range in various shapes and prices. Those who are interested in any of our vehicles can simply view our online new car inventory and chat with a representative for further assistance.

General Motors Says That Their Super Cruise System Will Upgrade With Lane Changes and More

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021

Powering Up The Super Cruise System

General Motors (GM) prized possession, the Super Cruise system, is one of the most innovative driver-assist technologies currently on the market, and for 2022, it’s getting even more advanced and more accessible to other vehicles, such as the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra half-ton pickup trucks.

One of the main upgrades of the Super Cruise system is hands-free automatic lane changing, which will give the car the ability to access when it’s safe to pass a car driving in front of you and change lanes when permissible without any action needed from the driver.

Other advancements include hands-free towing, which is helpful for those moving trailers, and improvements in navigation.

This Super system was first brought to the automotive scene in 2017 in GM’s Cadillac CT6 sedan. It was during this introduction that we saw how the car was capable of guiding drivers to and fro over 200,000 miles of various highways across the States, all on its own. By utilizing both the GPS and on-board cameras, it compares the placement of the vehicle to its location in a lidar scan of the globe. Once the car understands its location, and it’s safe to take over operations, the Cruiser will literally take the wheel, as well as control the acceleration.

However, this doesn’t mean that the driver should then slack off, as they are required to pay attention in the same way as they were when they were piloting. In fact, the system involves technology that can sense whether or not the driver’s eyes are on the road. Should their eyes roam elsewhere, the system will start with various warnings before completely deactivating. If this is not the case, in most cases, there will be no need to take over.

The automaker says that this driver assistance feature will be found on a wealth of different vehicles such as the upcoming GMC Hummer electric pickup, the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado pickups, the Cadillac Escalade and XT6 SUVs, and the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 sedans. Additionally, buyers of the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt will get to enjoy an older version of Super Cruise, which of course, will not include the lane change features. However, buyers of the 2021 Escalade models will get the new features in a future over-the-air update.

GM still needs to watch its back, as its fierce competitor, Ford, has plans to launch its own driving system, the hands-free BlueCruise, which is coming later this year in 2021 F-150 pickups, as well as the electric Mustang Mach-E car.

Another rival is the Autopilot system from Tesla. They also have a new beta version of its Full Self Driving features which even back automatic lane changes on the highway. On the flip side, the company says that the driver still has to keep his or her hands on the steering wheel to confirm their attentiveness…which completely defeats the purpose of the system.

While both Super Cruise and Autopilot aren’t necessarily newcomers on the market, they were not featured in any pickup trucks, which are the most popular vehicles in the States. In conjunction with Super Cruise and BlueCruise, these technologies will be brought to a new market of truck buyers in more ways than one.

The Chevrolet Company Confirms That The Corvette Z06 Is Coming Our Way In 2023

Friday, July 30th, 2021

The Chevrolet company has confirmed to automotive lovers everywhere that it will unveil its latest and greatest 2023 Corvette Z06 sometime this fall. Beyond these details is more or less speculation, such as the possibility of the sports car being fully electric, which shouldn’t be considered too much of a stretch given the current trend for conventional car brands.

The parent company to Chevrolet, General Motors has said that it will bring out 30 new electric vehicles by 2025. So far, it has only publicized a small number, which includes the GMC Hummer EV pickup, Hummer EV SUV, the Cadillac Lyriq SUV, and a fully-electric version of the Silverado pickup.

Last week Monday (July 19), the automaker released a short teaser video advertising the 2023 Z06. In it, you’ll hear the roar of the Corvette’s engine, as the viewer can only see the racetrack and city streets. The video eventually ends with the tagline, “The streets will never sound the same.”

Around this time, two years ago, the car company brought forth its very first mid-engine Corvette Stingray. Then on Monday, Chevrolet wrote in a statement “This fall, the story will continue with the reveal of the all-new 2023 Corvette Z06, the supercar that will put the world on notice.”

At some point in the video, you also see a tagline that says “The streets will never sound the same”, which some fans are speculating that this could be Chevrolet’s way of telling us that this model is indeed an electrified one.

In August of last year, in the middle of an 80-second campaign ad, run by President Joe Biden, he told viewers about his love for cars, specifically his Corvette, following this by saying “They tell me” that GM is working on an all-electric version of the famous sports car that will go 200 mph.

According to Detroit Free Press, a person who is well acquainted with the production of the brand confirmed intentions for a fully electrified version of the sporty vehicle, however, the specifics regarding the time and maximum speed were not known.

More than likely, the electric model will take at least two years or more to be released, as said by this acquainted person last year. They also stated that the car will be in accordance with the brand’s performance versions because of the market in 2021. This source declined to reveal themselves because they were not authorized to speak with media outlets.

Last month, Chevrolet selected Detroit’s Belle Isle Park to unveil a new Limited Edition supercar performance version of the respected Vette, along with announcing new colors, pricing, and additional features of the 2022 mid-engine Stingray, which begins production later this year.

The 2022 mid-engine Stingray, which eager customers could start ordering this month, will increase in price from the 2021 model, however, it will encompass some new games and prizes to advance performance. It will also be offered in three new colors.

2022 Chevy Trailblazer Gains New Active Safety Package

Friday, July 23rd, 2021

GM has recently announced a new active safety package for the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer. With this new addition, GM is reminding its consumers that safety will always be a top priority. Currently, specific details about the new safety package are unknown but, based on previous packages, it’s safe to say that GM will be placing additional emphasis on driver and passenger safety.

Features of the Current Active Safety Package

From recent reports and leaked details, it seems that GM will not be including lane change alerts or side blind zone alerts in its new active safety package. This may seem counterproductive, but these features are readily available in current safety packages for the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer. Packages like the Driver Confidence and Cruise Package and the Driver Confidence package include these safety features as well as additional ones. One of two, the Driver Confidence and Cruise package comes equipped in the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer base and LT trims. It includes cruise control, lane change and side blind zone alerts, rear cross-traffic alerts, and rear park assist. The second available safety package is the Driver Confidence Package. It is available for the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer LT, Activ, and RS trims. It is similar to the Driver Confidence and Cruise Package however it does not include cruise control.

Given both package deals, the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer is likely to come equipped with lane change and side blind zone alerts if the vehicle is ordered with either package.

The all-new 2022 Chevy Trailblazer is slated to come equipped with Chevy Safety Assist. This safety package consists of six advanced safety and driver assistance features. Some of these include forward collision alerts, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicators, and Intellibeam high beam assist. Different trims have upgrades available. These consist of an HD rear vision camera, lane change and side blind zone alerts, rear cross-traffic alerts, rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, and OnStar safety and security coverage.

Features of the New Active Safety Package

A new active safety package for the all-new 2022 Chevy Trailblazer will most likely focus on better driver safety features and improved vehicle function. Using the latest technology, GM could incorporate a driver sensor inside the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer that would monitor the driver’s health condition. Should the driver become incapacitated, the driver sensor would be able to gain control of the vehicle to avoid further injury.

One additional feature likely to be included in the new safety package is an over-the-air update system. This would provide drivers with direct information and diagnostics about their vehicle. A heads-up display could also be implemented to provide drivers with information within their field of vision.

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer will go into production later in the year. The base LT trim will be priced at $22,795 MSRP (plus destination fee). Additional trims like the Activ and RS will be a bit pricier but will come with premium features.

Ultimately, the hatchback came in second place in the electric vehicle segment, as the Toyota Prius earned 45 percent of the rest of the share, specifically with a 175 percent increase in sales volume. Yet and still, the Chevrolet subcompact outsold the remaining segment, which involved the Hyundai Ioniq, the fresh-off-the-block Volkswagen ID.4,, the Honda Clarity, and its biggest rival, the Nissan Leaf.

It’s also worth knowing that these specific reports from the blog site, GM Authority, encompass both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, such as the case with the Honda Clarity. The 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 May Get Off-Roading Features

Tuesday, July 13th, 2021

The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is a mean and aggressive pickup that earns its props for its off-road capabilities. The midsize pickup’s spool valve shocks are serious executors of their job, while the underside is geared up to be able to tackle more difficult situations and increase function. The high-quality Colorado model is just what the doctor ordered on a nice off-roading day, and the optional turbodiesel engine isn’t too shabby either. Now it appears that the automaker wants to implement this work of genius on its full-size 2022 Silverado, which would move a step above the Trail Boss trim in the lineup.

It’s questionable whether this upcoming Silverado ZR2 will increase in its strength, but decrease in its speed, or perhaps get the best of both worlds. For the moment, we’ll have to wait until the automaker releases the engine specs, especially because it’s certain that it will have particular features that will be unlike many pick-ups on the market, if not all of them.

One thing that should be expected is that the shock absorbers of the Colorado’s Multimatic-acquired Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve play a key role, as they make way for highly accurate damping control, better cooling, and increased travel. In the Colorado, there is an extra spool valve that is only involved during very large suspension movements. Altogether, the dampers perform better over a vast range of conditions rather than a conventional shock, and that’s whether it’s on or off-road.

Elements that make the Colorado ZR2 stand out are the elevated lift, augmented armor, rock sliders, and re-shaped bumpers to boost angles for approach and departure. There is also a toughened fully-boxed frame, along with its standard front and rear locking differentials. It’s certain that the Silverado ZR2 will have a better lift in contrast to the Trail Boss, brawnier skid plates, and similar number treatment as its miniature family member. The extra frame support may or may not be needed. Judging from Chevrolet’s teaser video, it seems that Silverado ZR2 will keep its rear leaf spring setup, like the Colorado, opposed to employing the arrangement of the F-150 Raptor and Ram TRX.

As for the engine components of the Silverado ZR2, more than likely the regular L87 6.2-liter V-8 that produces a healthy 420 hp and 460 lb-ft will be used, and will still be a worthy competitor against the Ram Rebel’s 5.7-liter.

One should know that the Colorado ZR2 also offers a Duramax turbo diesel option, and if the automaker wants, it can also offer the Silverado ZR2 with that powertrain’s larger sibling: the highly effective Duramax I-6 turbodiesel. Though it only produces 277 horsepower it makes up for it with 460 lb-ft of torque, and also has excellent fuel economy figures.

We should know more about what Chevrolet has in store for its truck enthusiasts by this fall but in the meantime…Miami Lakes Automall is selling vehicles in various shapes and sizes from the automaker such as the Silverado and the Colorado trucks. Those who are interested in any of our vehicles can simply view our online new car inventory and chat with a representative for further assistance.

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 vs. 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro: Battle Of The Off-Roaders

Thursday, July 8th, 2021

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 and the 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro are at the top of their game when it comes to highly efficient midsize pickups. The ZR2 is a worthy contender with its thrilling powertrain options, revamped styling, capable ride and handling, as well as it’s best-in-class towing. Meanwhile, the TRD gives other pickups a run for their money with its overall durability and off-road capabilities. Let’s see how they match up with each other and see who’s really leading the pack.

Chevrolet Colorado ZR2

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado shows no signs of slowing down when it comes to splurging its loyal following of truckers with the ZR2 off-road trim. It’s looking fierce and vivacious for the 2021 model year, and according to the automaker, it has improved in its visibility and a new grille design.

The truck shows its hot stuff with its impressive off-road gear, such as ultimate shocks, independently lockable front and rear differentials, and surplus skid plates under components deemed vulnerable.

Along with the refashioning of the pickup, the ZR2 certainly captures the menacing and blood-thirsty look and presents it well. The body looks strong and muscular, but not in the sense where it’s too fussy. This vehicle shows you that it’s ready to take you on a rock-crawling adventure, while still making it just in time to take you to the office by the end of your weekend. The company’s off-road edition involves an elevated suspension, a wider track, revamped bumpers, and an operative skid plate.

Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro

The 2021 Tacoma TRD Pro is the man…well, truck to rely on for jobs that require working in dirt, such as on a worksite on a trail, this pickup can do almost anything. For well over 30 years, the Tacoma has proven itself to be reliable and trustworthy for off-roading activities. Additionally, this truck has a towing capability for up to 6,800 pounds.

Three of the TRD models encompass various levels of off-road capability, with ingenious technology. The regular Tacoma has a 2-speed transfer case, Crawl Control, and Multi-Terrain Select.

The highest-ranking TRD pro truck tacks on Fox internal bypass shocks, a special TRD cat-back exhaust, a TRD Pro front skid plate, and a series of distinct appearance and convenience accessories.

On top of all of these positives and reputation for trustworthiness, The Tacoma’s long-lived and recently rejuvenated standing also gives it the best resale value in its segment after 5 years of ownership.

Which One Is The Best Pickup?

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 and 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro are neck and neck. These two amazing off-roaders are similar in being highly effective off-road trucks with large tires and plenty of ground clearance.

However, the ZR2 outranks its competitor with its available turbo diesel option, more energetic V6 engine, and an array of cabs and beds. We’ll give it to the Tacoma for at least having the best resale value, but it just isn’t enough otherwise.

Miami Lakes Chevy

Now that you know the truth about who truly has the biggest wheels, you can check out the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 at Miami Lakes Automall. This vehicle also involves plenty of interior features like 3 months of satellite radio service, six speakers, USB connection. As well as some safety technologies like traction control, remote anti-theft alarm, and a post-collision safety system.

The MSRP for this pickup is $42,795,(plus destination fee). Those who are interested in any of our vehicles can simply view our online new car inventory and chat with a representative for further assistance.

The Chevrolet Corvette Is Ranked As 2021’s Fifth Most American-Made Car

Wednesday, June 30th, 2021

Most American Made-Car

The Chevy Corvette has been well-known as the All-American sports car, zooming through the city streets and freeways with its big and bad V8 engine, even showing off its athletic pride with its crossed racing flag badge on its snout. According to a recent study, the Vette car has been ranked as the fifth most-American made car for 2021.

According to a recent study from Cars.com, the Chevrolet Corvette sits below the fourth-ranking Jeep Cherokee and beats out the sixth-ranking Honda Ridgeline. Interestingly enough, the top three models that were ranked as the top American cars in the list encompassed the Tesla Model Y (Third), the Ford Mustang (Second), and the Tesla Model 3 (First).

The list on Cars.com is developed upon five main criterias, such as assembly location, parts content, engine origins, transmission origins, and North American manufacturing workforce. The study looked over 344 vehicles in total, and out of them, only 90 vehicles made the list. While the website does not go over its exact methodology for how it weighs and calculates different components, each of the five benchmarks “play a significant role” in electing the rank of a model in the list. One of the most essential qualifiers is the last assembly location, while some of the cars that were ranked have split manufacturing in a variety of different locations.

One should be aware that the 2021 Chevy Corvette is manufactured at the parent company’s, General Motors facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Bowling Green Assembly, which is established at 600 Corvette Drive, has acted as the exclusive producer of the Chevy Corvette since its opening in 1981. Presently, the facility employs around 1,000 workers.

Additionally, the study from Cars.com retrieves its data from the American Automobile Labeling Act (AALA), which necessitates car makers to report the overage percentage of North American and Canadian content exhibited by their vehicles. Even though the AALA combines North American and Canadian parts into the same pond, Cars.com offsets by taking into account origins from the engine and transmission into the scoring of the vehicles.

As the study backs up, governing which models are the most American-mode is especially important given consideration of production interruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the Suez Canal blockage in March, and the developing global microchip shortage.

New Editions

The Chevrolet company recently tacked on new features for its 2022 Corvette C8 model, such as new color options: Caffeine Metallic, Hypersonic Gray Metallic, and Amplify Orange. The automaker is also offering a limited appearance package derived from the 021 IMSA GTLM champion C8.R race car.

The company has improved upon the car’s fuel, as well as its management systems. Under the hood is a new fuel pump and fuel injections to aid in having higher fuel pressures. It’s also geared with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Additionally, there are two more colors available, specifically the Accelerate Yellow with gray accents and Hypersonic Gray with yellow accents.

2022 Chevy Traverse Saves Gas With Its New Automatic Stop-Start Switch

Tuesday, June 29th, 2021

The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse is coming our way for its fifth model year for the second generation they are currently in. This time around, it’s bringing in model revitalizations that involve new changes with the interior styling, interior features, and technological gadgets. Particularly, the upcoming midsize SUV is introducing an automatic stop-start engine, as well as a disable switch.

For Chevrolet or car enthusiasts who are not aware, an automatic stop-start engine is a system that is meant to decrease fuel consumption and emissions by way of stopping the engine automatically when the vehicle is idle, such as when coming to a stoplight. When the driver removes his or her foot from the brake pedal, the engine will automatically turn back on, enabling the vehicle to continue moving forward.

There are some who are opposed to this feature altogether, as they claim that the system is actually disruptive because it may cause a (very) slight pause and some not-so-pleasant vibrations throughout the interior. However, the Chevrolet seems to have been making moves to prevent hesitant buyers, as the stop-stop feature can easily become disabled by using the freshly installed disable switch.

The 2022 Traverse  SUV isn’t the first product from the automaker to include the automatic engine start-stop system. Their 2020 mid-sized Blazer SUV crossover also encompasses this feature, as well as their 2022 Chevy Equinox compact.

Additional updates are set to come out with the next year’s Chevy Traverse and includes the elimination of their base L trim model. According to the car blog, GM Authority, the LS trim will replace the L’s entry-level position in the Traverse lineup for the following model year.

Moreover, the 2022 Chevy Traverse will bring forth three new exterior colors to its palette, specifically involving Northsky Blue Metallic, Silver Sage Metallic, and Cherry Red Tintcoat. There are also three new hues arriving to swap out with Cajun Red Tintcoat, Graphite Metallic, and Satin Steel Metallic, which will no longer be on the market for the upcoming Traverse for the 2022 model year.

The revamped 2022 midsize Chevy SUV is on schedule for production on August 2, 2021, coming hot off the press at General Motors’s production facility in Lansing Delta Township, Michigan. While the Chevy Traverse was supposed to get a makeover for the 2021 model year, obstacles brought forth for the coronavirus pandemic forced the refresh to get a delay until the following year.

The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse is a whole package deal with its standard V6 engine, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, seating for a maximum of eight passengers, and much more. Standard features include tri-zone climate control, six USB ports, and an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display. Then traction-mode select, deep-tinted rear windows, and high-intensity headlights are all included by stepping up to the LS trim. There are also plenty of optional features and packages that further spices up the look and experience of the SUV.

Miami Lakes Automall has the 2021 Traverse SUV in its possession. Those who are interested in this vehicle or any of our other vehicles can simply view our online new car inventory and chat with a representative for further assistance.

2022 Chevy Corvette C8 Gets Some Sporty Improvements

Thursday, June 17th, 2021

General Motors subsidiary Chevrolet recently brought on a small selection of new color options for their 2022 C8 Corvette Stingray and is even offering a  limited appearance package based on the 2021 IMSA GTLM champion C8.R race car. The company also enhanced the sporty vehicle’s fuel and engine management interworks, however, this doesn’t mean that the C8 is going to muster up any more power than it already has. On top of this, its starting price has been heightened to $62,195, (plus destination fee), which is over $1000 more than the 2021 model year.

The upcoming Corvette’s engine is a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT2 V-8, which is geared with a new fuel pump and fuel injections that gives way for running higher fuel pressures. The output remains the same at 490 horsepower (really 495 if you have the performance exhaust) with 470 lb-ft of torque. It’s geared with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. In Car and Drivers testing, the Stingray got up to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and zoomed through the quarter-mile at 122 mph in 11.2 seconds. The more advanced Active Fuel Management system makes it possible for the cylinder deactivation to be able to perform at lower speeds, however, estimates regarding the fuel economy have not yet been released.

Limited to just 1000 cars is the new IMSA GTLM Championship Edition package. Its starting price is $6595 and is available on 3LT models fixed with the Z51 Performance package. It also has two available colors, which are Accelerate Yellow w/ gray accents or Hypersonic Gray w/ yellow accents. Finished in the Carbon Flash color are the spoilers and mirror, while the wheels are painted black w/ the brand’s Racing “Jake” skull emblem on the center caps and yellow brakes.

These special-edition models have an exclusive Strike Yellow and Sky Cool Gray interior with GT2 buckets seats paired with yellow seat belts. One can also select the special Competition seats, and there is even a C8.R Special Edition numbered plaque that you’ll find between the chairs. They are accompanied by a distinctive car cover that mirrors the style of the Corvette C8. race car.

What’s more, Corvette cars that aren’t geared with the track-equipped Z51 package are now available to order with a new low rear spoiler, along with a Z51 front splitter.

Excitingly enough, the C8.R race car was revealed for the first time at Detroit’s Belle Isle on Saturday, June 12. Eager Chevy enthusiasts of the upcoming C8 Stingray, as well as the IMSA GTLM Championship Edition package, can place their order on July 1st.
