Spy Shots On The Upcoming Equinox
The upcoming Chevrolet Equinox was recently captured in spy shots outside General Motors’ Milford Proving Grounds in Michigan. Chevrolet keeps hiding the 2025 model in a camouflage get-up, making its design and shape unclear.
What has been gathered from the spy shots is that the 2025 Equinox appears boxier than the present model, possibly bringing on styling elements from the Traverse SUV that’s also in the midst of a revamp. The new look also has a more upright front end and a squared-off rear.
The slotted grille can be seen through the mesh casing of the front, which also shields the headlights. The daytime running lights hint at the car’s face, but that’s the extent of the similarities. The combustion-powered Equinox appears more prepared for off-roading than the current model and mightier than its electrified version.
Spy photographers still haven’t been able to get a good glimpse of an interior, which should also get a reworked design with a more significant focus on screens and tech features, as the company released the Equinox EV with a dual-screen setup on the dashboard.
While there isn’t much information regarding the powertrain setup for the next generation of the Equinox, the current model uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 175 horsepower with 203 lb-ft of torque. This is the only engine available across the lineup, and it’s plausible that it could also be used for the upcoming model with some minor upgrades. The company could add a hybrid configuration to make it even more effective.
Chevrolet will sell the reworked SUV and the latest Equinox EV (set to go on sale in the fall of this year). This electric Equinox will involve different styling elements and offer up to 300 miles of range. The front-wheel-drive (FWD) version has an estimated output of 210 horsepower, while the all-wheel-drive (AWD) dual-motor setup musters 290 horses. The base-level 1LT will have a starting price of around $30,000 (plus destination fee).
The new Chevrolet Equinox should introduce itself later, likely going on sale in early 2024 for the 2025 model year. As with other automakers, Chevrolet is phasing from gas-powered vehicles to only producing electric models. Namely, the Equinox EV, Blazer EV, and Silverado EV will go on sale by the end of this year, getting in on the action with the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV.
