The 2023 Corvette Z06 Unveils Its Superstar Supercar

Monday, October 25th, 2021

The Chevrolet company just unveiled its brand new Corvette Z06, sending shock waves to our system, as well as the rest of the world of performance cars. The reason is that the new vehicle is a higher-performing version of the Corvette supercar which will encompass a V8 engine, which has a level of potency that is almost unreal. This machine, a racing-derived V8, mirrors designs from other hot rods like Ferrari.

The result of this is a fierce and power-hungry motor will crank out an intensely high 8,600 revolutions per minute, and has an incredible output of 670 horses, ranking it as the most potent V8 for its kind that has ever been made. Zooming from 0 to 60 mph should push it to take just over 2.5 seconds, like a Ferrari. On top of this, the engine will provide an experience that is simply out of this world both visually and audibly. Even more so because the engine is fixed in the middle of the car, which aids in the bettering of acceleration and handling.

The 5.5L V8, which produces 670 horses, growled like a lion in the General Motors Design Dome last week, reminding us of the design and engineering performance for the past eight decades.

The largely revamped Z06 encompasses a slew of other changes, many such as the V8 transpired in the development in the Corvette C8 race, which earned it a championship during its first year of competition and put it in the lead during the second year.

“Racing is the reason the Z06 was developed in 1963,” Corvette executive engineer Tadge Juechter said. “We’ve tested the Z06 on the best tracks in the world, from Circuit of the Americas here in the United States, to the Nürburgring in Germany.”

In order to have the ability to handle this power, the Z06 has various performance add-ons. These involve large wheels and tires (with an optional carbon fiber wheel, giant iron brakes, (with optional carbon-ceramic brakes), surplus gaping air intakes to feed and cool down the engine, and large front and rear spoilers.

The tech-stacked cabin of the Z06 also gets some augmentation, with high-quality materials like leathers, suedes, and a plethora of carbon fiber trim elements.

There is an expectation that the Corvette coupe will have a starting price going close to $90,000, (plus destination fee). While the pricing hasn’t been revealed, this is the expected estimate. A convertible version with a power-retracting hardtop is an option, but it will cost you $7,500 more. The $90,000 estimate does reach twice the current average of a new vehicle, however, it is only one-third what it would cost to purchase a car like the Ferrari F8 Tributo and McLaren 720S that the Z06 has outpaced as its competition.

One thing that is certain, is that the drive will be as thrilling as it looks and sounds, and what’s also certain is that you can rely on Miami Lakes Chevrolet to provide you with vehicles with top-notch performance. We sell a wide range of vehicles from the Chevrolet brand, including its dynamic Corvettes. Those who are interested in any of our vehicles can simply view our online new car inventory and chat with a representative for further assistance.

An Electrified Spotting! Spy Shots Capture The 2023 Corvette Corvette E-Ray

Monday, October 18th, 2021

For quite some time, Chevrolet’s beloved C8 Corvette has been rumored to have a hybrid version in the works, and now it seems that these details weren’t just rumors at all. Based on recent spy shots from car site Motor Authority, along with a video, we see new prototypes for what might be the new electric variant dubbed the Corvette E-ray; Trademarks were also found dating back to 2015.

Then, it’s seen in earlier shots that these prototypes involved coupe and convertible body styles of the Corvette, along with layouts for its left- and right-hand-drive. Engineers for the car company also displayed the regular Corvette Stingray and the Acura NSX to benchmark the prior shots.

The NSX, a hybrid supercar powered by dual motors, a V-6, and a single motor configuration located at the rear, is the only model by a competitor being used for benchmarking to a hybrid Corvette being tested. Don’t forget that the automaker also used the Audi R8, Ferrari 458 Italia, and Porsche 911 Carrera S when the Stingray was in development.

Though the visuals on the inside of the prototypes weren’t that conspicuous, these shots do show the instrument panels covered up, which likely means that the automaker wants to hide the exact details of this electric sports car.

It’s also been deduced that the mock-ups have a new wide-body style that the Corvette Z06 will also share, as seen in certain shots, and is due for its debut by next week, on October 26. Then, the hybrid Corvette should make its inauguration sometime by next year as a 2023 model. It will probably act as a replacement for the former C7 Corvette’s Grand Sport grade.

While we still don’t know details regarding what’s under the hood of the electric Corvette, there is much talk about a single motor used to power the front axle and the Stingray’s 6.2-liter V-8 energizing the rear axle. The maximum output should fall between 600 and 650 hp. Who knows if a plug-in version is also in the works? While that idea certainly isn’t far-fetched, it would mean the possibility of a small electric range.

A more powerful hybrid system with the pairing of an electric motor, which is also at the rear axle, is expected to be saved for safekeeping until a future Corvette Zora flagship.

You read that right! Chevrolet lovers can expect to see more electric variants coming to the Corvette lineup. In fact, there are plans to release an electric C8 Corvette, a model mentioned by President Joe Biden on several occasions, regarding its existence. Seeing that parent company General Motors intends to have all of its light vehicles powered by electricity by 2035, it’s highly likely that the eventual C9 Corvette will be fully electric and without a gasoline counterpart.

Chevy Corvette Sees Impressive Q3 Sales, Ranks First Among Premium Sports Cars

Thursday, October 14th, 2021

The Chevy Corvette recently enjoyed impressive third quarter (Q3) sales in the United States. The luxury sports car managed to surpass its previous Q3 sales by about 60 percent. Chevrolet is certainly enjoying the increased popularity as its Corvette model ranked higher than competitors by huge margins. The automaker has been turning its focus on electric vehicles lately, a move many other automakers have seemed to attempt. Chevrolet has teased its all-new all-electric Chevy Silverado and they have also hinted at a potential new electric sedan that may or may not replace the Camaro. It’s always a positive when an automaker can capitalize on its current lineup while continuing to meet consumers’ demands and interests. Electric vehicles have become a hot topic as of late given the climate crisis, but as seen with the Corvette’s sales numbers, it seems some folks are still looking to drive high-performance sports cars.

Chevy Corvette Sees Increased Sales Overall

The Chevy Corvette saw delivery numbers totaling 10,166 units in Q3 of 2021. This was an increase of 59.97 percent compared to the 6,355 units sold in Q3 of 2020. As for the entire year, the premium sports car saw sales increase about 96 percent to 24,748, compared to 12,634 the previous year. This increase was seen mainly in the first nine months of the year. These numbers allowed the Corvette to become the best-selling model in its class. Following the Corvette was the Porsche 911, then the Porsche 718, and after that came the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT in fourth. Overall, the Corvette managed to outsell all its rivals.

Corvette sales for the year included all Corvette body styles, variants, trim levels, and packages. In each quarter of 2021, the Corvette managed to post strong numbers. During each of its quarters, the Corvette accounted for at least 51 percent of the segment share. It should be noted that many competitors in the segment cost significantly more than the Corvette (the C8 starts at a base price of $58,900 [plus destination fee]). This may explain why rival sales numbers were as low as they were. Still, the Corvette managed to solidify its status as a desirable sports car.

Given the strong sales numbers, it’s clear the Corvette C8 line has more room for growth. Higher-performance variants are still on the way. Some of these include the C8 ZO6, C8 E-Ray, C8 ZR1, and the C9 Zora. The C8 Z06 will be the first variant to launch for the 2023 Corvette model year. As these variants continue to release, it’s expected that Chevy will see even greater sales numbers for its sports car. As long as production at the GM Bowling Green plant and the GM Tonawanda Engine plant continues without pause, Chevy should continue to see its Corvette reign at the top of the sports cars sales list.

General Motors Will Showcase Its “Legacy” At This Month’s Motor Bella Auto Show

Tuesday, September 14th, 2021

Motor Bella Auto Show

This month, from September 21st through September 26th, the Motor Bella outdoor auto show will be held at the M1 Concourse circuit in Pontiac, Michigan. General Motors will be among other automakers showcasing its new 2022 GMC Hummer EV pickup.

The Detroit Dealers Association helped to put together this experimental event after downtown Detroit’s annual North American International Auto Show had to come to a halt because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. According to the Association, this show will have over 400 vehicles on display, ride-and-drive amenities, and the showcasing of next-generation car technologies.

Onlookers will have the opportunity to see conventional auto show exhibitions, together with ride-along events and even charity vehicle giveaways.

At the General Motors booth during the event, attendees will see a “showcase the company’s rich motorsports legacy,” as said by the show’s organizers, indicating that the car maker will feature its previous race cars that were deemed successful during their prime, and maybe even race cars of today, such as the favored Corvette C8.R and Cadillac DPi-V.R. Resting at the site of the motorsports display will be the electric products of the current day as well as the future. These products will also involve the 2022 GMC Hummer EV pickup. Additionally, the manufacturer will conduct a media luncheon and panel discussion, with the topic based on legacy, and the future of racing and motorsports within the company.

Moreover, the Lost Corvettes will have 6,000-square-foot of dedicated space at the Motor Bella show. It’s here where 12 reconditioned classic Corvette cars, which are model years ranging from 1953 to 1989, will be presented. Car blog, GM Authority was previously the Lost Corvettes, used to be part of an art project conjured up by pop artist Peter Max. Max planned on using the cars as blank canvases for pop art pieces, however, this was an idea that never came to fruition, and ultimately left the Vette car to collect dust in parking garages located in Manhattan.

Finally, a non-profit organization, dubbed The Corvette Heroes came to save the day after discovering and purchasing these cars and are now giving them away to veterans and military families through the national sweepstakes campaign. 36 cars from the assortment will be given away and will also raise money for a non-profit organization called Stand for the Troops.

As previously stated, Motor Bella will come out swinging on September 21st, 2021 and will end on September 26th. Those who plan on attending should be on the lookout for the event’s phone app to launch before the event starts next Tuesday, which is said to be the “ultimate go-to resource with maps, exhibitor info, schedules and more,” according to the organizers.

The Chevrolet Company Confirms That The Corvette Z06 Is Coming Our Way In 2023

Friday, July 30th, 2021

The Chevrolet company has confirmed to automotive lovers everywhere that it will unveil its latest and greatest 2023 Corvette Z06 sometime this fall. Beyond these details is more or less speculation, such as the possibility of the sports car being fully electric, which shouldn’t be considered too much of a stretch given the current trend for conventional car brands.

The parent company to Chevrolet, General Motors has said that it will bring out 30 new electric vehicles by 2025. So far, it has only publicized a small number, which includes the GMC Hummer EV pickup, Hummer EV SUV, the Cadillac Lyriq SUV, and a fully-electric version of the Silverado pickup.

Last week Monday (July 19), the automaker released a short teaser video advertising the 2023 Z06. In it, you’ll hear the roar of the Corvette’s engine, as the viewer can only see the racetrack and city streets. The video eventually ends with the tagline, “The streets will never sound the same.”

Around this time, two years ago, the car company brought forth its very first mid-engine Corvette Stingray. Then on Monday, Chevrolet wrote in a statement “This fall, the story will continue with the reveal of the all-new 2023 Corvette Z06, the supercar that will put the world on notice.”

At some point in the video, you also see a tagline that says “The streets will never sound the same”, which some fans are speculating that this could be Chevrolet’s way of telling us that this model is indeed an electrified one.

In August of last year, in the middle of an 80-second campaign ad, run by President Joe Biden, he told viewers about his love for cars, specifically his Corvette, following this by saying “They tell me” that GM is working on an all-electric version of the famous sports car that will go 200 mph.

According to Detroit Free Press, a person who is well acquainted with the production of the brand confirmed intentions for a fully electrified version of the sporty vehicle, however, the specifics regarding the time and maximum speed were not known.

More than likely, the electric model will take at least two years or more to be released, as said by this acquainted person last year. They also stated that the car will be in accordance with the brand’s performance versions because of the market in 2021. This source declined to reveal themselves because they were not authorized to speak with media outlets.

Last month, Chevrolet selected Detroit’s Belle Isle Park to unveil a new Limited Edition supercar performance version of the respected Vette, along with announcing new colors, pricing, and additional features of the 2022 mid-engine Stingray, which begins production later this year.

The 2022 mid-engine Stingray, which eager customers could start ordering this month, will increase in price from the 2021 model, however, it will encompass some new games and prizes to advance performance. It will also be offered in three new colors.

The Chevrolet Corvette Is Ranked As 2021’s Fifth Most American-Made Car

Wednesday, June 30th, 2021

Most American Made-Car

The Chevy Corvette has been well-known as the All-American sports car, zooming through the city streets and freeways with its big and bad V8 engine, even showing off its athletic pride with its crossed racing flag badge on its snout. According to a recent study, the Vette car has been ranked as the fifth most-American made car for 2021.

According to a recent study from Cars.com, the Chevrolet Corvette sits below the fourth-ranking Jeep Cherokee and beats out the sixth-ranking Honda Ridgeline. Interestingly enough, the top three models that were ranked as the top American cars in the list encompassed the Tesla Model Y (Third), the Ford Mustang (Second), and the Tesla Model 3 (First).

The list on Cars.com is developed upon five main criterias, such as assembly location, parts content, engine origins, transmission origins, and North American manufacturing workforce. The study looked over 344 vehicles in total, and out of them, only 90 vehicles made the list. While the website does not go over its exact methodology for how it weighs and calculates different components, each of the five benchmarks “play a significant role” in electing the rank of a model in the list. One of the most essential qualifiers is the last assembly location, while some of the cars that were ranked have split manufacturing in a variety of different locations.

One should be aware that the 2021 Chevy Corvette is manufactured at the parent company’s, General Motors facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Bowling Green Assembly, which is established at 600 Corvette Drive, has acted as the exclusive producer of the Chevy Corvette since its opening in 1981. Presently, the facility employs around 1,000 workers.

Additionally, the study from Cars.com retrieves its data from the American Automobile Labeling Act (AALA), which necessitates car makers to report the overage percentage of North American and Canadian content exhibited by their vehicles. Even though the AALA combines North American and Canadian parts into the same pond, Cars.com offsets by taking into account origins from the engine and transmission into the scoring of the vehicles.

As the study backs up, governing which models are the most American-mode is especially important given consideration of production interruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the Suez Canal blockage in March, and the developing global microchip shortage.

New Editions

The Chevrolet company recently tacked on new features for its 2022 Corvette C8 model, such as new color options: Caffeine Metallic, Hypersonic Gray Metallic, and Amplify Orange. The automaker is also offering a limited appearance package derived from the 021 IMSA GTLM champion C8.R race car.

The company has improved upon the car’s fuel, as well as its management systems. Under the hood is a new fuel pump and fuel injections to aid in having higher fuel pressures. It’s also geared with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Additionally, there are two more colors available, specifically the Accelerate Yellow with gray accents and Hypersonic Gray with yellow accents.

2022 Chevy Corvette C8 Gets Some Sporty Improvements

Thursday, June 17th, 2021

General Motors subsidiary Chevrolet recently brought on a small selection of new color options for their 2022 C8 Corvette Stingray and is even offering a  limited appearance package based on the 2021 IMSA GTLM champion C8.R race car. The company also enhanced the sporty vehicle’s fuel and engine management interworks, however, this doesn’t mean that the C8 is going to muster up any more power than it already has. On top of this, its starting price has been heightened to $62,195, (plus destination fee), which is over $1000 more than the 2021 model year.

The upcoming Corvette’s engine is a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LT2 V-8, which is geared with a new fuel pump and fuel injections that gives way for running higher fuel pressures. The output remains the same at 490 horsepower (really 495 if you have the performance exhaust) with 470 lb-ft of torque. It’s geared with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. In Car and Drivers testing, the Stingray got up to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and zoomed through the quarter-mile at 122 mph in 11.2 seconds. The more advanced Active Fuel Management system makes it possible for the cylinder deactivation to be able to perform at lower speeds, however, estimates regarding the fuel economy have not yet been released.

Limited to just 1000 cars is the new IMSA GTLM Championship Edition package. Its starting price is $6595 and is available on 3LT models fixed with the Z51 Performance package. It also has two available colors, which are Accelerate Yellow w/ gray accents or Hypersonic Gray w/ yellow accents. Finished in the Carbon Flash color are the spoilers and mirror, while the wheels are painted black w/ the brand’s Racing “Jake” skull emblem on the center caps and yellow brakes.

These special-edition models have an exclusive Strike Yellow and Sky Cool Gray interior with GT2 buckets seats paired with yellow seat belts. One can also select the special Competition seats, and there is even a C8.R Special Edition numbered plaque that you’ll find between the chairs. They are accompanied by a distinctive car cover that mirrors the style of the Corvette C8. race car.

What’s more, Corvette cars that aren’t geared with the track-equipped Z51 package are now available to order with a new low rear spoiler, along with a Z51 front splitter.

Excitingly enough, the C8.R race car was revealed for the first time at Detroit’s Belle Isle on Saturday, June 12. Eager Chevy enthusiasts of the upcoming C8 Stingray, as well as the IMSA GTLM Championship Edition package, can place their order on July 1st.

Chevrolet Reveals Three Cool Colors For The 2022 Corvette C8

Friday, April 30th, 2021

New Corvette Colors For 2022

Although the All-American Chevrolet brand has a great deal of vehicles under its belt, without question, their Corvette sports car is their main squeeze. Now more than ever, with its recent C8 Corvette entering its third model year, the car has gained widespread popularity. While changes in design have been relatively haven’t been too dramatic, they still add just enough excitement.

Recently, the automaker announced that there are three new color options available. The three new color options include Amplify Orange, Caffeine, and Hypersonic Gray. At least one of these colors is viewed as a premium color, with Amplify Orange being a bit more expensive.

It seems as though the colors Caffeine and Hypersonic Gray are standard. The Caffeine color appears to look brownish, and the shared image from the brand appears to have hints of metallic gold elements to it once it hits the sunshine. The color is very subtle for the Corvette. Hypersonic Gray also serves as a metallic color option, and slightly comparable to the silver that was previously available to the vehicle.

All of next year’s Corvette models will encompass standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as new display options for the digital gauge cluster, such as a tachometer in Track mode. These standard gadgets were presented in the 2021 model year. Buyers of the 2022 C8 models can also select the magnetorheological dampers as a standalone option that doesn’t necessitate buyers to choose the Z51 performance package.

For the time being, no new changes will be applied to the motor, as the Corvette will continue to make use of a 490 horsepower 6.2-liter V-8 engine. The company confirmed that orders for the 2022 model will start by early July.

The drivetrain shifts over from previous years with the 6.2-liter V-8 engine producing 490 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Car and Driver states that the C8 can reach 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and run the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds at 122 mph. The 2-door vehicle uses an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The entry-level price for the 2021 Corvette was $60,995, (plus destination fee), with the 2022 C8 likely following suit.

Corvette’s Color Of The Year

The 2021 Corvette already has an exciting group of 12 exterior colors. At the present moment, the fan favorite of the bunch is Torch Red.

For loyal Corvette followers, the popularity in the Torch shouldn’t come as a shock, as GM Authority previously reported that this option was the most desired exterior color for the 2020 Corvette, specifically making up 25 percent of all of last year’s models that were produced. Arctic White came in as the second most popular 2020 Corvette color, making up 15 percent of the sales, while Black came in third place at 12 percent. Finally, with 7 percent each, Sebring Orange and Elkhart Lake Blue came in fourth and fifth, respectively.

All Corvette color options currently include:

  • Sebring Orange Tintcoat
  • Arctic White
  • Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic
  • Black
  • Accelerate Yellow Metallic
  • Shadow Gray Metallic
  • Rapid Blue
  • Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat
  • Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic
  • Silver Flare Metallic
  • Zeus Bronze Metallic

Inhouse, the 2021 Corvette currently offers eight interior colors, such as:

  • Jet Black
  • Sky Cool Gray
  • Adrenaline Red
  • Natural
  • Natural Dipped
  • Tension with Twilight Blue Dipped
  • Morello Red Dipped
  • Sky Cool Gray with Strike Yellow

The Corvette Stingray Is Fast On The Road And The Fastest In North American Sales

Monday, March 22nd, 2021

The Corvette Wins First Place In U.S. Sales

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, car sales, as well as a general slew of other businesses, saw a bit (or not so bitty) depression in traffic, and continued to see this slump for the remainder of the year (2020). Slowly but surely, the crisis began to somewhat stabilize, allowing for North American car sales to make a comeback. Some models, in particular, rode past the sales level a year ago. On top of this, car sales overall increased because of low-interest rates. This is thanks to the Federal Reserve, which allowed manufacturers to make offers on car loans more enticing.

Dependent on supply, these manufacturers ship these vehicles to their respective dealers and what the sellers estimate that they will be able to sell on certain models. On the end of the manufacturer, factory output can pose a challenge, while from the perspective of the dealer, it’s more of a guesstimate about what consumers in the market would go for.

Based on this dynamic, the amount of time that a car is lodged at a dealership parking lot can average about 48.9 days, with at least 60 being optimal. While there are plenty of cars that are able to catch the attention of shoppers faster than others, owing to either limitations from the factory or an overwhelming good customer demand at the dealership.

Last month, the most favored vehicle in North America was so in-demand that it became America’s fastest-selling car, and that ladies and gents is the Chevrolet Corvette. This flagship vehicle of the largest division of General Motors (GM), also being the sole two-seat sports car that hasn’t skipped a beat for over six decades (1953 to be exact). According to iSeeCars, the Chevrolet’s prized possession reaches up to 13.1 for days-on-sells.

The starting price for the Corvette is $59,000, (plus destination fee). This year’s model makes use of the “Stingray” moniker, which the company has gone back and forth with throughout the years. The convertible model of the car can reach as high as $90,000,  (plus destination fee). Moreover, the output is 495 horsepower from its 6.2-liter V8 engine, which can push from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.9 seconds.

Karl Brauer, iSeeCars Executive Analyst, weighed in on the fastest-selling cars as a whole, regarding those that don’t last long on the dealers lot: “While the fastest-selling new cars span many price points from $24,278 to $102,537, the average for these 20 vehicles is $43,829, which is well above the $36,836 average price of all new cars.”
