The 2022 Chevy Camaro Is Back In Action In More Ways Than One

Thursday, August 26th, 2021

The 2022 Chevy Camaro Is Finally In Production

We’ve recently learned that the Chevrolet company is bringing their 2022 Chevrolet Camaro into production at the GM Lansing Grand River assembly plant in Lansing, Michigan GM Authority. Due to the current microchip shortage impacting various automakers, including Chevy, it has contributed to the delay of General Motors (GM) with the Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5, along with the upcoming Camaro vehicle.

Owing to this delay, inventory for the 2022 muscle car went down, which also contributed to the decrease in Camaro sales. More specifically, car site, GM Authority, reported last month that these Carmo sales went down to a 9 percent segment share during the second quarter of last year.

These year-to-date 2021 Camaro sales came up to 9,881 units, which is a decrease of 29 percent as opposed to 2020’s calendar year of 13,860 units. These shares come up to 14 percent, which is down 2020 percent reported in 2020.

The 2022 Camaro is in its seventh model year and has received a few beautifications and updates as opposed to the previous year. Production of this vehicle was initially set this year, Monday, June 14th, but that date was eventually pushed back.

These augmentations involve the adding of two new exterior colors, along with discontinuing two other exterior options, specifically Crush, which is an orange hue using the paint code G16, with the addition of Shock, a green-yellow with the paint code GKO. New options include Rapid Blue, which we saw at the Daytona race, NASCAR Beef It’s What’s For Dinner 300, last February. The second color is Vivid Orange Metallic.

Other features that we’re saying bye to include the LT 1LE Track Performance Package and the 20-inch Caliente wheelset.

Live Configurations

The news of the 2022 Chevy Camaro goes even further as the company has launched an online configurator tool, enabling loyalists to make their own distinctive personalization to the pony car.

Similar to other configurators of GM, this one, in particular, allows its users to select from either the Coupe or Convertible body types and choose their desired trim level. The specific models that will be brought forth from the previous Camaro involve 1LS, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, 1SS, 2SS, and ZL1. Buyers can also choose colors for the exterior and interior, as well as packages and options.

An example of what one could do with the configurator is to put Rapid Blue as an exterior color for the 1SS Coupe, with Medium Ash Gray for the interior upholstery. Another is to add on Black Accent Exterior Package, which encompasses a satin black painted front splitter and side rockers, along with 20-inch split-spoke Satin Black wheels.

The upcoming Camaro is certainly geared up and will require that buyers give up $56,920, (plus destination fee) for the base price, as well as $4,420 for selected packages. Additionally, selected options require $7,815, (plus destination fee).

Chevy Camaro to be Replaced by an Electric Sedan

Thursday, August 5th, 2021
2021 Chevy Camaro

The Chevy Camaro seems to be nearing its end. As automakers vie for the spotlight, transitions toward electric vehicles have been increasingly common. General Motors (GM) recently announced its goal to transition to electric vehicles by 2035. This spells uncertainty for the gas-fueled Camaro as GM has stated that it wants to rid itself of its gas and diesel-powered cars, trucks, and SUVs by 2035. Aside from the question of feasibility, many have to wonder what will happen to vehicles like the Chevy Camaro.

Future of the Chevy Camaro

As GM looks toward producing electric vehicles, we have to wonder what will happen to the gas and diesel vehicles left over. Currently, the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro lacks a replacement. GM could hypothetically mount the Camaro on the rear-drive-based A2XX architecture used to underpin the Cadillac CT4 and CT5, but GM has made no mention of doing so. Thus, it seems the Camaro will meet its end in 2024.

Moving toward more optimistic news, the Camaro name may live on despite the high-performance muscle car fading away. With news of GM’s move toward electrification, the Camaro name may be used for a performance-oriented all-electric sedan. Transforming the iconic two-door into a four-door may seem unlikely, but given the current nature of the world, nearly anything can be made possible.

Could an All-Electric Sedan be on the Way?

GM has stated its plans for an all-electric sedan. Whether it will replace the Chevy Camaro is up for debate, but it does leave many wondering if it can compete in the EV sector. It is expected that an all-electric sedan successor will utilize GM’s Ultium battery tech. This should provide the electric sedan with a good range and high-end charging capabilities. As for performance, we can look toward innovative vehicles like the GMC Hummer EV, which is slated to come available with 1000 horsepower and a quick 0-60mph.

Many have deduced that the next generation of high-performance vehicles by Chevy stands to deliver. This applies to the rumored all-electric sedan which has many excited. It should be noted that the Chevrolet 2023 Corvette Z06 recently received an unveiling date scheduled for later in the Fall of 2021. We will have to see what Chevrolet decides to equip the sports car with and whether it will come electric. Depending on the specs and performance, a new-generation Camaro could also be likely later in the future.

Chevrolet Is “Upgrading” To A 3-Cylinder Engine In Its New Camaro

Tuesday, April 6th, 2021

The New Camaro Will Be Powered By A 3-Cylinder Motor

The iconic Chevrolet Camaro is an American staple and one of the most favored muscle cars in the States. Even though a recent recall related to the possibility of shafts missing a retaining ring and the company stalling production in Michigan at its Lansing Grand River Assembly plant ascribed to a shortage of semiconductor chips, this dynamic pony continues to dominate in sales. In order to stay newsworthy and fresh in the automotive industry that’s shifting towards hybrid and electric vehicles more and more each day Chevrolet has made a rather… unexpected announcement. By 2022, some Camaro’s will be operated by a high-performing, turbocharged…three-cylinder engine…Yes, you read that right. Just three cylinders.

Surely, this revelation might have left some in the Camaro fanbase flabbergasted, but before you get your knickers in a bunch, know that this type of change has already become a trend with other automakers, with Ford and Toyota offering similar performances. For instance, the European Ford Fiesta ST is motorized by a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder and has an output of 200 horsepower with 214 lb-ft of torque. Then, the Toyota GR Yaris is simply stunning with its ability to produce 257 horsies with 266 lb-ft of torque thanks to its turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine. The latest base-level Camaro model has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 275 horsies and 295 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet engineers are aiming to reach those power figures, and have already enhanced the capabilities of the new three-cylinder engine.

“We have been considering going to three-cylinders for a while now,” said Ted Kowalczyk, headman of small capacity motors at the brand. “The way the automotive industry is going, downsizing our engines, and focusing on efficiency is becoming a priority. We do believe that the new three-cylinder engines will be able to deliver the performance our customers have become accustomed to.” As claimed by sources, the new and improved motor should be able to produce over 300 horsepower. However, Chevrolet has kept quiet regarding the future plans of the V8 in the Camaro line, even so, there’s talk of a five-cylinder in the works.

More Of What To Expect

At first glance, it appears as those the automaker is keeping it simple with its upcoming design. Supposedly, rather than a complete remodel of the seventh-generation Camaro, it will look just like a 2021 but with a slight facelift. This isn’t a bad approach, as many automakers like to stick with what has already been working for them, with Jeep being the most notorious of them all. It has also been revealed that the muscle car will come in two different body styles, specifically, a two-door coupe and a two-door convertible (with a soft-top).

Additionally, the same trims (or at least similar ones) that were featured in the Camaro’s previous models, will likely be available in the newest generation. More specifically, the automaker will present the 1LS, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, 1SS, 2SS, and ZL1, respectively. As before, the SS model would serve as the SuperSport package while the ZL1 will be the highest-ranking trim. The convertible version of the Camaro will also be available in these trims, with the expectation of the 1LS. Though these prices have not been confirmed, there is a high probability that the price will reach over $20,000, (plus destination fee) for the entry-level 1LS and over $60,000, (plus destination fee) for the high-tier ZL1 model.

When the time comes to purchase your spanking new 3-cylinder Chevrolet Camaro, be sure to do it at Miami Lakes Automall. We carry a wide range of Chevrolet cars in different trims and prices. It’s also not too late to purchase a current Camaro model still featuring the 4-cylinder motor.

The C8 Corvette’s Rapid Blue Becomes More Inclusive With The Camaro Pace Car

Friday, February 19th, 2021

2022 Chevy Camaro Steals The Show With C8’s Rapid Blue

The C8 Corvette Stingray is almost known more for its incredible engine options than it is for its athletic and muscular style, which is only enhanced by its color selection. However, it appears that the C8’s dynamic paint selection will soon make a pact with another Chevrolet model, namely the Camaro with the color dubbed Rapid Blue.

Last Saturday, (Feb, 13th) the automaker’s 2022 Camaro SS 1 LE led the automobile troops to green for NASCAR’s Beef It’s What’s For Dinner 300 race from Daytona International Speedway. In the same way that the C8 Corvette paced the Daytona 500 the night after, the Camaro featured the Rapid Blue with a hint of red, white, and black. It was only until now that Stingrays have ever had this type of finish…and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

This bold blue gets even more accessible, as it was also sported on the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST, which also paced NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series’ NextEra Energy 250 race last Friday (Feb, 13th). Unfortunately, the Silverado won’t embrace the Rapid Blue as an official member of its color palette for the 2022 model year. This denotes that the revamped Silverado seen in the last week could have been the only one ever made from the factory, and it’s a mystery if we’ll ever see one like that again.

Unsurprisingly, Rapid Blue is of the most popular exterior colors for the 2020 model year of the Corvette and made up six percent of all the vehicles that were produced. The most favored, however, Torch Red, fulfilling 25 percent, following suit by Arctic White by 15 percent, Black by 11.7, Sebring Orange by 6.8 percent, and Elkhart Lake Blue by 6.7 percent.

Of course, what most race car enthusiast are probably excited about is what’s under the hood, and avid fans will be eager to know that that the featured Camaro is geared with a 6.2L LT1 V8 engine and Magnetic Ride Control suspension, undoubtedly giving the best performance that you can get from a pace car.

Highlighting Features On The Camaro

The wait for the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro may seem a bit unbearable for now, but loyal followers still have a great selection of colors to choose from such as Crush, Red Hot, Satin Steel Metallic, Summit White, Black, Shadow Gray Metallic, Shock, and Wild Cherry Tintcoat. The car even comes with some funky interior colors like Jet Black, Medium Ash Gray, Kalahari, Adrenaline Red, Ceramic White, and Jet Black with Red accents.

The perks only get better with a plethora of standard comforts such as power windows, cruise control, an 8-way-power driver’s seat and a 7-inch touch-screen audio system that involves wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Bluetooth, dual USB ports, AUX input, and GM’s 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

Miami Lakes Automall is currently selling the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro with its lowest price for just around $25,000, (plus destination fee). Those who are interested in this model or any of our other vehicles can simply view our online new car inventory and chat with a representative for further assistance.

The Chevrolet Camaro Is Saying No To Retirement…For Now

Tuesday, January 5th, 2021

Chevrolet Camaro May Get A Longer Lifespan

The iconic pony car, the Chevrolet Camaro joining Australia’s premier touring car series is certainly a risky move for General Motors. Apart from this, the company has apparently discounted the Z/28, starting from June 2019, having had plans to cease operations on the Camaro entirely in 2023. On the contrary, it appears that this strategy is no longer alive since there are new reports hinting that the current Camaro could stay alive well into 2026.

This change of plans was reported by Australia’s Which Car, stating that it “understands” the muscle car’s retirement has been deferred to 2026. At this time, both local rivals of the Camaro’s are expected to get their annual refreshments, with the Mustang allegedly transitioning to an Explorer-inspired construction in 2022, and the Dodge Challenger and Charger to a revamped platform in 2023. On top of this, the competitors’ spotlight feature is available hybrid power on all three vehicles. If the reports of the Camaro’s extended stay are indeed true, it could indicate GM’s attempt to entice buyers that are disinterested in hybrid mechanics than the Camaro’s customary fusing of V8 and a manual transmission.

Regardless, GM may also decide to hone in on a whole other aspect of the sports car domain, with an unidentified executive starting in June 2019 concurring “a two-door mainstream sports car for Chevrolet” to be “part of future GM electric vehicle plans.” This vehicle may compare closely to the Camaro, even more than the Ford Mach-E resembles the Mustang. Al Oppenheiser, a former Camaro engineer would administrate GM’s EV development starting in 2018, a position in which he had significant influence over the development of the GMC Hummer…the dynamic 1,000-horsepower Hummer.

At the current moment, the company has not elaborated any further regarding the plans that it has for the Camaro. According to an automotive website, The Drive, when they reached out to GM for a statement the spokesperson only said that they wouldn’t “engage in speculation related to potential product timing announcements.” From our assessment, what this means is that we shouldn’t expect the brand to show a renewed interest in the Camaro unless its sales suddenly gain a significant increase and traction.

Miami Lakes Chevrolet

In the meantime, the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro has some exciting features in store. It has a highly efficient base 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that provides 275 horsepower. Advancing from there will get you a 335 horsepower V-6. The highest trim will gift buyers with a 6.2 L V8 that brings out an incredible 650 horsepower.

Interior goodies include a user-friendly touchscreen that links up with the brand’s Infotainment 3 software. Standard features encompass Wi-fi hotspot, and wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. There are also available safety features like blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, and rear parking sensors.

Chevrolet has a brand new package coming for the new 2021 Chevrolet Camaro. The Chevy favorite is adding a new paint color, confirmed in a release found in the General Motors fleet ordering guides. Going into detail on the new “Wild Cherry Design Package”, this is a color that can be found on the exterior with a darker, deeper shade than the Chevrolet Camaro’s current Garnet Red color base. This new package will be available for customers to add to nearly all 2021 Camaro trims when the Camaro Wild Cherry package is officially released for both the coupe and convertible forms of the Camaro. This change is expected to debut with the 2021 Camaro, as this is only an appearance package that introduces two main options for buyers.

More Insight On the Wild Cherry Package

There are two specific levels to the package that customers can opt into. While the package color images haven’t been released yet, we’ve learned that every trim in the Camaro, except for the 1LT and ZL1 trim can add the package. This package works in the coupe variation and the convertible version has all except the ZL1 trim. Owners of the 2021 Chevy Camaro will have the first level option that adds the Wild Cherry paint, including five-spoke wheels, plus a Camaro fender badge. The appearance of black hash stripes is added from the front fender through the back. Owners can opt for the second-tier of the package that adds Carbon Flash ground effects. The addition of a black fuel filler door with visible carbon fiber insert, black suede-covered knee pads and the choice of a center stripe. For the 2LT and 3LT the stripe can be black or silver-colored, whereas the 3SS can be black metallic or silver. This addition is included in the pricing, but the announcement did not include a price point for either package offering.

More News From Chevrolet

The Shock and Steel Special Edition will be removed eventually as this new package makes its debut later in 2020. The 2021 Chevrolet Camaro will include a $4,500 Track Performance package that adds a 10-speed automatic transmission, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Shock Package, which will be ending its run after the 2021 model year. Chevrolet has not announced when the new Wild Cherry package will debut, but we’re happy to share we have the popular 2019 Chevrolet Camaro as well as the new 2020 Chevrolet Camaro ready for our readers to check out. Secure them while you can with our help today!

Count On the New 2020 Chevrolet Camaro Over the 2020 Ford Mustang

Friday, April 3rd, 2020
Camaro Miami Lakes Automall

Camaro Miami Lakes Automall

A long and storied history between automotive rivals Ford and Chevrolet dates back decades ago as these two brands have pioneered the way for other muscle cars to end up on the roads. The Ford Mustang and Camaro both debuted in the mid-1960s, forever changing the automotive landscape. These pony cars are still cherished today among buyers around the world. As muscle cars have become more intelligent and in demand than ever before. What does the landscape look like in 2020 between these two well-known and respected cars?

2020 Camaro Offers High-Level Perks

The new 2020 Chevy Camaro has gone through transformations that have pushed forward new innovation since 1966. The current sixth-generation Camaro provides owners with a slew of new features new to the 2020 model. Some of the upgrades include wireless charging pad for smartphones, a teen driver setting to restrict functions of the vehicle when a teen is driving, plus an available rear camera mirror as well. The perks of the Camaro extends to managing the performance of the vehicle with Chevrolet’s Performance Data Recorder that is available, along with modern perks like 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities. While some muscle cars have gotten smaller in the past decade or so, the Camaro went from a compact car from the 1960s to 2002 to a mid-size car beginning in 2010.

The Ford Mustang now offers an 8-inch screen and offers a voice-controlled navigation setup similar to the one found in the Chevrolet Camaro. Customers can choose to add features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection in either vehicle for an additional cost. The difference between these vehicles comes with elements under the hood.

What Are the Powertrain Differences?

The base 2020 Ford Mustang includes a turbocharged, 2.3-Liter four-cylinder engine that makes 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Currently, owners will not be able to have a Mustang with all-wheel-drive. Mustang owners get a jump from the four-cylinder powertrain up to the V8 with no V6 option. The V8 engine found in the Mustang

gets 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, but there is no chance of an automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the base Camaro models come with a turbocharged, 2.0-Liter four-cylinder engine that supplies 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission come standard, while an eight-speed automatic is offered at an extra cost. There is a 3.6-Liter V6 with 335 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque engine available, as the Camaro is standard with a six-speed stick, but it can be added with an optional 10-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet provides more options than Ford.

The Camaro SS trim supplies the very powerful direct-injected 6.2-Liter V8 engine that hits 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft. of torque, fast enough to go from 0 to 60 mph in just a mere 4.1-seconds. The Z1L trim gets a supercharged version of the 6.2-Liter V8 powertrain that provides an owner with 650 horsepower and a whopping 650 lb-ft of torque. Both V8-powered models come with a six-speed manual transmission, with a 10-speed automatic transmission at an extra cost. Both vehicles supply the same estimated fuel ratings of 25 mpg combined city and highway rating. In the various measures of vehicle strength, as well as technology, the Chevrolet Camaro has proven itself against the rival Ford Mustang.

Which Vehicle Is More Expensive?

The difference between the two must be cost? Even with all the perk afforded to the Camaro, there is yet another check in the box for the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro. Buyers can be happy knowing the starting price is at $25,000 MSRP for a Camaro is a whole $1,670 less than the starting price of the 2020 Ford Mustang. Curious to get started with looking up more about the process of driving the newest Chevrolet vehicles? We are here to help at Miami Lakes Automall.

Chevrolet Has Electric Camaro Waiting In the Wings

General Motors has given fans hints and an image that suggests the Chevrolet Camaro is about to have an electric version available soon. General Motors (GM) has shown the world a coupe-shaped silhouette that allows viewers to imagine what the upcoming Camaro will truly look like, but the image, pictured above, has many wondering if this is the electric incarnation. Along with this photograph, GM also showcased 11 new all-electric vehicles in a short-form video posted on various social media outlets including Twitter and Facebook. GM kicked off their first-ever “EV Day” this March and has promised a grand total of at least 20 new all-electric vehicles by 2023.

General Motor Are Stacked With Electric Plans

Last November, GM and Chevrolet showed off a prototype named the “E-10” that is powered by their eCrate electric driving system. This driving system might become part of the brand’s performance parts catalog in the near future. Another concept that debuted by Chevrolet recently was in fact another Camaro known as the Camaro eCOPO electric drag racer. This vehicle supposedly hit a 9.8-second quarter-mile time. The eCOPO Camaro concept also had an amazing engine that is rumored to be a 700 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque powertrain; quite powerful. Chevy has been secretive with their electric plans and we’re not sure why. The automotive world is ready to see more electric options, particularly with vehicles that are beloved like the Camaro.

Mum Is the Word (For Now)

The actual word by Chevrolet regarding the electric Camaro is just a report for now. There has not been any actual electric vehicle announced specifically for the Camaro, but we expect this will change soon. The hint is real and not fabricated. General Motors is planning a rear-wheel-drive architecture that is set to debut in production vehicles starting later this decade in 2025. We’re awaiting the debut of more electric vehicles to come in 2020, but few are more exciting to think of than the Chevrolet Camaro EV. Recently, an updated Chevrolet Bolt EV has gotten some love, but we hope to see more options get the star treatment from Chevy. For those looking for the latest Chevrolet products, come to Miami Lakes Automall today.

The Best Pony Car on the Market Is A Chevy

Many muscle cars are well-known and respected, but few are the Chevrolet Camaro. The latest Camaro is considered one of the last great pony cars available. The Camaro was made famous with superior driving dynamics that have shaped the Camaro over the years. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. For generations, the Camaro served as the premiere fast-car of the Chevrolet brand, but word has leaked that Chevy will be discontinuing the vehicle in 2023. The nearly 55 years of the Camaro will leave behind a lasting legacy. The Chevrolet Camaro faced a difficult time selling vehicles back in 2002 and was close to being shelved then. The Chevrolet Corvette has taken the top spot among the premiere, fast Chevy vehicle.

Step Into the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro

The latest Chevy models have various trims, including the 277 horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder base model Camaro 1LS up to the remarkable 650-horsepower Camaro Z1 trim. The high-end Camaro gives drivers the strength of the 6.2-Liter supercharged V8 DI engine that supplies 650 lb-ft of torque to go with all that remarkable horsepower. The latest Chevrolet Camaro also has heated and ventilated seating, the high-end Bose premium audio system and a steering wheel made with suede microfiber material. Stepping into the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro, buyers will notice how well-made this vehicle is, inside and out.

Will the Camaro Nameplate Be Retired?

General Motors has confirmed they did not make a decision yet. Time will tell, but the Camaro has seen sales slide in more recent years. This is despite Chevrolet and General Motors placing a lot of effort to make the latest Camaro vehicles the best pony cars on the market today. The Ford Mustang is also seeing low numbers, so it is not just General Motors and Chevrolet that is experiencing lower sales for their flagship cars. However, the truth remains that Chevy has not listed the Camaro as a vehicle that will be updated or given a new generation past 2023, as currently listed.

“While we will not engage in speculation, we will remind you of our recently announced updates coming to the Camaro lineup this fall. An all-new LT1 model will provide customers V8 power with the design and affordability of our LT trim. The award-winning SS model will feature a new front fascia from the Camaro Shock concept. All of our updates are customer-driven to improve the car and its driving experience.” According to General Motors.
