The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox Will Not Have a Diesel Option

Chevy’s experimenting with a diesel-powered compact crossover is coming to an end after two years. Chevrolet spokesman Kevin Kelly confirmed to Green Car Reports that the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox would not be available with a 1.6-liter turbodiesel. It’s time to say goodbye to the Chevy Diesel.

“We have discontinued the diesel engine option for the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox due to low demand,” GM spokesperson Kevin Kelly said. GM had attached the diesel powertrain to the Equinox as part of its redesign for the 2018 model year, as well as a diesel option to the corporate sibling, the GMC Terrain, that same year. A GMC spokesperson confirmed to caranddriver.com that the diesel Terrain is also getting cut.

“We will only offer our two turbocharged gas engines in the Terrain for 2020,” said spokesperson Stuart Fowle. “Diesel represented a very small percentage of sales. We believe in diesel in segments where customer interest is higher”. 

The Canyon is still offering the diesel; while the Sierra will provide a refined 3.0-liter Duramax for 2020. The next-gen Sierra HD is shipping to dealers being the most capable Duramax available. Chevy indicated that it would scrap all-wheel-drive versions of the turbodiesel Equinox earlier in 2019. The engine option is now completely gone, although that left room for front-wheel-drive versions to continue. The GMC Terrain, which shares many pieces with the Equinox such as the powertrains, they may also face a similar destiny. A spokeswoman for GMC didn’t instantly comment on if the turbodiesel would return for the Terrain, according to greencarreports.com. 

The engine went out of production for the U.S. market earlier this year which was also available in the Chevrolet Cruze. The reasoning behind the diesel engine being killed on the Equinox is unclear, as the Equinox was rated high having 28 mpg city, 39 highway, 32 combined according to the EPA. Costumers are still bitter about the sticker shock with the $2,400 upcharge for the diesel engine compared to the base models, which could be the reason for the diesel’s short life. 

Relatively high diesel fuel prices compared to regular unleaded may have also hampered sales. On Thursday, July 11th, 2019, AAA reported the national average for a gallon of gasoline was $2.75 compared to $3.03 for diesel fuel. At that rate, drivers may face decades before recouping the upfront cost for the diesel engine. 

We are in the middle of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and truck drivers will already see the increased diesel fuel prices due to rising fuel taxes. Automakers have wrestled with offering diesel-powered SUVs in the past few years. Hyundai ditched plans to offer a turbodiesel-powered version of its Santa Fe crossover last year, reportedly because of onerous regulatory approval for diesel, post-Dieselgate. This week, Ford announced it would shelve the diesel-powered Transit Connect van before it was offered in the States. 

Jaguar Land Rover stopped offering Jaguar F-Pace and Range Rover Velar crossovers with a turbodiesel for 2020, too. The least expensive 2019 diesel Equinox was the LT trim, which started at $32,495 (plus destination fee). This was a $2400 premium over the same trim with a gas engine. 

Going diesel was also raising the price to be a $3700 upcharge over the base model, which was only available in a gas engine. The 2019 Terrain, which is the cheapest diesel in the SLE trim, starts at $32,995 (plus destination fee). It also represented a $3,700 increase over the similar trim gas models as well.

General Motors has sold 332,618 Terrains and 332,618 Equinox CUVs in 2018. During the first six months of 2019, GM sold a total of 174,157 Equinox CUVs and 174,157 Terrains. The company did not comment to questions about how many of those were types of diesel vehicles. The Diesel Technology Forum states GM sold 3045 Terrain diesel in 2018, and it did not provide numbers for the Equinox diesel sales.

Mazda has committed to bringing a diesel-powered crossover to the U.S. At the 2019 New York International Auto Show, they announced it would finally sell a diesel-powered CX-5 crossover in the U.S. after years of delays. The diesel engine is available only on the CX-5 Signature crossovers and it will cost more than $42,000 (plus the destination fee), and the EPA rates the turbodiesel at a relatively unimpressive 28/31/29 mpg.

General Motors (GM) has shaken up its business with new changes announced to recreate their brand. They announced in November a large restructuring that starts at the top of the automaker and works its way down. They had announced the Chevy Volt will see its run end, but that was only to make way for the new Chevy Bolt EUV. Electric vehicles are known as EV for short, the EUV stands for “electric utility vehicle”. This will be Chevrolet’s next Bolt-based electric car. While we don’t know all the details for what the Chevy product will have underneath the hood, we do have an idea of what it could look like. 

More On the Upcoming Chevy Bolt EUV

This new Bolt looks quite different than the current Bolt, but it has some evidence of the Bolt’s design. The new Bolt EUV rendering adopts heavily from the all-new Chevy Blazer with its skinny headlights, full lower front fascia, and sportier overall presentation. Chevrolet has added some bits of the Malibu within the appearance down the side of the vehicle. GM has even filed a trademark for the name and said the vehicle would be manufactured its next all-electric vehicle at its Orion, Michigan factory. Part of General Motor’s plans was to update the very plant where this vehicle is set to be produced. 

Setting Up the Chevy Bolt EUV For Success

The Michigan factory is undergoing a $300 million investment overhaul from the automaker. Chevy has said their new EV is set to wear the Chevrolet bow tie while sitting on an enhanced version of the platform found under the current Chevy Bolt. The Bolt EUV is going to be more prominent as far as most crossovers are made, but should be a hit for its size and incredible gas mileage. The current Bolt EV is a purely electronic vehicle that can achieve a full charge with a 220-volt outlet charge in 9.3 hours and provide drivers with 238 miles of driving off that lone charge. That’s better than good, that’s fantastic for owners to enjoy.

General Motors is going to make big waves in the upcoming new decade, including an aggressive electric vehicle goal of adding as many 20 new EVs by 2023. The Bolt EUV trademark silenced rumors that Chevy might create a family of Bolt-branded electric vehicles. The New 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Is Launching and Here’s Everything It Offers

The all-new, fifth-generation Chevrolet Tahoe launches during the 2021 model year, not the 2020 model year as many initially believed. It means that the current, fourth-generation model gets to live for another model year as the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe, while it was receiving a few minor updates and changes. Let’s find out what those differences on the 2020 Tahoe are. 

There are not a lot of changes to the model line or the mechanical side of the full-size SUV. The changes to the exterior are limited to the deletion of the Pepperdust Metallic color as well as the new finishes for the wheels. There are the 22-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels with custom silver accents (SGK) and 22-inch Bright machined aluminum wheels with Bright Silver finish (SIY).

The Tahoe is Chevrolet’s stalwart, a truck-based SUV with a traditional V-8 up front (choose from two), and commanding ride. The Tahoe’s blocky exterior and car-like interior are plain, but refreshingly simple compared to others in its class. The long, two-box look has aged well, and although a redesigned Tahoe is on the horizon, we hope it doesn’t stray too far from the simple look that makes the current version endearing in our eyes. 

Inside, the Tahoe is simple and straightforward, and the column shifter should’ve been the first clue. Chevy’s family hauler is steadfast in its M.O. for family detail. Similarly, the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe won’t bring any changes or updates to the interior. 

The two remaining changes will impact the two optional packages, as the full-size SUV deletes the All-Season Package and the LT Signature Package. Here’s what each of those now-deleted packages contained. There is the All-Season Package, which was available only on the LS model and included is the 20″ x 9″ polished aluminum wheels, P275/55R20 all-season Blackwall tires, Body-color bodyside moldings, Black roof rack cross rails, Max Trailering Package, All-weather floor mats, and All-weather rear cargo mat.

Included on the LT Signature Package, will be the 20″ x 9″ chrome wheels, P275/55R20 all-season Blackwall tires, Bright bodyside moldings, Grille insert, Polished exhaust tip, Chrome recovery hooks, and Chrome assists step kit. The Tahoe’s standard 5.3-liter V-8 makes 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque mated to a 6-speed automatic and rear- or all-wheel drive. It’s rated to tow up to 8,600 pounds. An optional 6.2-liter V-8 makes 420 hp, and 460 lb-ft is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission in some models.

Although both engines come equipped with cylinder-shutdown technology, neither one is very fuel-efficient. Similar to the 5.3-liter V-8, the 6.2-liter is rated to tow up to 8,400 pounds, which is more than the Palisade. The Tahoe’s powertrains are stout and robust, offering plenty of passing power in exchange for its thirst at 18 mpg combined in its most efficient form. 

That’s what rounds out the changes to the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe. You may have noticed that these changes are identical to those of the Tahoe’s extended-length twin, the 2020 Chevy Suburban. For cargo, the Tahoe’s 15.8 cubic feet is impressive behind the third row, although the Palisade offers 18 cubic feet and with the second row folded, both open up more space—52 cubic feet in the Tahoe compared to 46 in the Palisade.

The 2020 Chevrolet Suburban: Here’s What’s New

The all-new, 12th-generation Chevrolet Suburban will launch later in the model year, not the 2020 model year as initially reported. Which means the current generation model gets to live for another model year as the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban, as it will get a few minor changes and updates. Here’s what’s 2020 Suburban has to offer.

GM Authority’s post stated the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL were still on track for 2020. However, the new word out on the street is that the next-gen GM SUVs won’t be arriving until 2021. More time to get those last minute details correct on the new model.  

There are no changes to the mechanical side of the extended-length, full-size SUV, or the model line. The changes on the exterior are restricted to the deletion of the Pepperdust Metallic color as well as new finishes for the rear wheels. It has 22-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels with custom silver accents (SGK) and 22-inch Bright machined aluminum wheels with Bright Silver finish (SIY).

The 2020 Chevrolet Suburban doesn’t feature any updates or changes to the inside. The two remaining changes impact the two optional packages, as the large SUV deletes the All-Season Package and the LT Signature Package. Here’s what each of those now-deleted packages contains. 

The All-Season Package, which was available only on the LS model includes a 20″ x 9″ polished aluminum wheels, Body-color bodyside moldings, P275/55R20 all-season Blackwall Tires, Black roof rack cross rails, All-weather floor mats, Max Trailering Package, and All-weather rear cargo mat. The LT Signature Package, which was available only on the LT model and it included the 20″ x 9″ chrome wheels, a Grille insert, P275/55R20 all-season Blackwall Tires, Bright bodyside moldings, Polished exhaust tip, Chrome recovery hooks, and Chrome assist step kit. That’s everything that is included on the all-season package and the signature package. 

That rounds out the changes on the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban. You might have noticed that these changes look familiar. They are identical to those of the Suburban’s shorter twin, the 2020 Chevy Tahoe.

The 2020  Chevrolet Suburban will be joining the others. It will be with the Escalade, the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Yukon XL will soldier on for 2020 with no changes. If GM does decide to apply any updates to the SUVs, they will probably be limited to new exterior and possibly the interior colors as well.

The next-gen GM SUVs will ride on General Motors’ new T1XX body-on-frame platform. It serves in the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra and should retain the 5.3L L84 V8 and 6.2L L87 V8 engines. Also expected on the GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission is that it will appear across the board.

There might be an exclusive powertrain on the Escalade. It offers customers certain trims, such as the new 4.2-liter Blackwing twin-turbo V8. There is no official news from GM yet.

In addition to a new platform, the all next-gen GM SUVs will also benefit from the exterior and interior designs, and it has improved third-row seating,  independent rear suspension (an option or standard) and front air curtains for improved fuel efficiency. There will be another offer like the Super Cruise which will also be offered on the Escalade eventually but isn’t expected to appear on the SUV from launch. All next-gen GM SUVs will also continue to be assembled at the GM Arlington plant in Arlington, Texas.

It’s expected that the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban will launch in the third quarter of the 2019 calendar year. It will mostly have a shortened production run as the all-new, 12th-generation model is expected to launch in the first half of the 2020 calendar year as the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban. The GM Arlington plant where the Suburban is assembled alongside other full-size GM SUVs was recently re-tooled to produce the all-new, future Suburban based on the T1 platform.

Prices For the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado’s HD Pickups Are Out

The pricing for the 2020 Chevrolet has been released for the Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD pickups. Because of the seemingly unlimited configuration possibilities of beds, cabs, trim levels, powertrains, and option choices arriving at a specific price is best left to the Chevrolet configurator. Here’s what some of the most popular configurations are going forfor. The good news is that the 2020 Chevy Silverado HDs are less than the 2019 models.

Available on the Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country trims, the 2020 Silverado HD pricing hierarchy leads off with the $35,695 Silverado 2500 regular-cab long-bed. The Work Truck equipped with the new 401-hp 6.6-liter V-8 and an upgraded six-speed automatic transmission. Stepping up to the midlevel LT trim (the regular-cab, long-bed 2500 and 3500 trucks are only available in WT and LT trims) will add $2900 to the bottom line for a base MSRP of $39,595.

Moving right on up to the crew-cab, the short-bed 2500 with single rear wheels, is arguably one of the most popular configurations available, the base pricing sorts out as: the Work Truck for $39,895; the Custom for $42,395; the LT for $43,395; the LTZ for $52,095; and the High Country for $62,695. If you’re opting for a long bed it goes for an extra $200 across the board: the Work Truck will go for $40,095; the Custom for $42,595; the LT for $43,595, the LTZ for $52,295; and the High Country for $62,895.

Chevrolet has not revealed the premium for selecting the Duramax diesel engine and the 10-speed Allison transmission with the 2020 Silverado 2500HD, but it was a $9395 upcharge in the 2019 model year. Pricing for the big-dog one-ton Silverado 3500 follows a similar path. The regular-cab long-bed pickup in Work Truck trim with single rear wheels starts at $36,895; moving to the LT trim brings the MSRP to $40,795.

Jumping on to the crew-cab, the long-bed 3500 has dual rear wheels. The price for the Work Truck for $42,495; the LT for $45,995; the LTZ for $54,695; and the High Country for $65,295. Shoppers wanting to delve into the details on the Silverado HD for their specific needs are motivated to visit the Chevrolet website or the dealership. Keep in mind that the full configurator is not yet available online with all of its options.

All of the Silverado HDs come standard with a refurbished 6.0-liter pushrod V8 which delivers 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque contrasted to the 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque that was in the old one. The optional 6.6-liter diesel V8 has the same output as the 2018 Silverado HD which delivered 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. Towing capacity is also up for both the 2500 and 3500 models.

The Silverado 2500, maximum fifth-wheel towing capacity is now 18,600 pounds. That’s 500 more than last year. The 3500 will tow up to 35,500 pounds with a fifth wheel versus 23,100 for the old model.

The Silverado HD adopted the T1 platform and the styling of the smaller 2019 Silverado 1500. The trucks are to wear a variant of the bold face of the new Silverado half-ton while adopting its convenience improvements and various usability. There is a more aerodynamic cab, more efficient space and a stronger bed, which is significantly lighter in weight, and it also has improved CornerStep bumpers.

The 6.6L Duramax L5P diesel engine, introduced for the 2017 model year Silverado HD, will carry over. Also, a new gasoline engine is expected to replace the archaic 6.0L L96 V-8. The 2020 Silverado HD family is scheduled to launch in the 2019 calendar year as 2020 model year vehicles.

Ready To Buy a Silverado HD?

Buyers can purchase the new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD at just $35,695 MSRP (plus destination fee). That figure is actually $300 beneath the 2019 Silverado HD. With the newer Silverado possessing better upgrades in the way of technology and more features, customers should feel great about Chevrolet working to place a figure on this new HD truck that is lower than expected. The base trim, what owners would get for the price above, is the 2500 Work Truck (WT) trim that comes with a regular cab and a long bed, everything some owners would require.

As far as the trims go, there are many options for customers to decide upon for their work needs. The Work Truck trim goes up to $39,895 MSRP (plus destination fee) for a crew cab with a standard bed. The next higher trims are listed as the Custom, LT and LTZ trims, ahead of the WT and the premium High Country trim. For those who never settle for anything, but the high-end trims, step into the luxurious and powerful 2020 Silverado 2500 HD High Country with a crew cab and a standard bed that costs $62,695 MSRP (plus destination fee).

Looking for the 3500 HD?

Drivers that are looking for the 3500, it is available in both single rear wheel and double rear wheel configurations. The Silverado HD 3500 begins at $36,895 MSRP (plus destination fee) for the Work Truck trim. Buyers that opt for the dually variant raises the price slightly to $38,095 MSRP and the high-end High Country dually trim for the 3500 HD starts at $65,295 MSRP (plus destination fee).  Something to keep in mind, crew-cab and long-bed configurations are the only possible options on the 3500. More than 90 percent of Chevy heavy-duty truck drivers use their vehicles only for towing, which they will be able to do in spades thanks to strong engines built for the new 2020 Silverado HD models.

“We will be the only company where every diesel dually will tow more than 30,000 pounds,” Jaclyn McQuaid, Cheif Engineer for GM.

Tell Me About the Powertrains

The base trims provide a 6.6-Liter Vortec gas direct-injected V8 engine that adds 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque; quite impressive for a base engine. Paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, owners of any Silverado HD are going to have a big engine underneath their hood. Customers can select the optional 6.6-Liter Duramax Diesel V8, delivering an ultra-impressive 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. That powertrain is paired an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission and keep in mind, every diesel dually variants, has a maximum towing rating of more than 30,000 pounds, with the tow rating topping out at 35,500 pounds. The Silverado HD payload reaches as much 7,466 pounds!

Chevrolet Drops Another C8 Corvette Teaser

Chevrolet is continuing to reveal details of their new Corvette C8, in small increments. Thanks to its teaser campaign, for the all-new mid-engined Corvette. It’s been well over a couple of weeks since the automakers had released the first C8 teaser video when it was announced that the new Vette’s would be revealed date on July 18, 2019.

The footage was shot at night, and it shows a fully camouflaged C8 prototype resting in a parking lot on Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. Despite the car’s camouflage, we’re able to see a handful of new details, including the rear wheels’ dual brake calipers. The smaller of the two brake calipers is all-but-certain to serve as the car’s parking brake.

The larger caliber is sure to help bring the sports car to a stop. The video opens up with the Corvette “Godfather” Zora Arkus-Duntov saying “Let’s Go,” and then several shots are seen of past mid-engined prototypes and it’s also seen that various other vehicles for the test from Chevy’s past, interweave with notices of the C8 driving. Chevy has released a second C8 teaser video, and it’s a clear continuation from the first one.

So how is it a continuation? It goes back to the first video published, and you can see that something is “hidden” within those short cuts. It’s challenging to decipher everything that’s happening, but it’s clear that there are enough clues in it to provide some Easter Eggs to be discovered. It’d be interesting to see if Corvette enthusiasts will pick up on anything.

The video’s description is as follows: “The Next Generation Corvette teaser video has more than 60 years of mid-engine history and heritage hidden within its 07.18.19 length.” The video looks at the car’s side air intakes, which seem to have fake panels to conceal the original design. The cutout in the body’s side profile for the scoops is quite large, as you’d expect from a full-fledged supercar.

It appears that the test vehicle has the C8 production body, including the finished headlight and taillight designs and the available rear spoiler. The extensive camo does a great job at hiding any extra juicy bits from prying eyes. It’s anyone’s guess what exactly Chevy wants you to see, but all that means is that you’ll have to have your eyes open wider to not miss the details.

The 30-second video had a lot of Easter eggs not only on Corvette’s history but also on the mid-engined Corvette, which is not a new idea. Chevrolet has toyed with this idea since the beginning of the Corvette program, which was more than half a century ago. However, Zora Arkus-Duntov, the father of the Corvette, couldn’t get a mid-engine Corvette approved for production.

The fact that Arkus-Duntov continues to be a major theme is no longer a mystery; for years he advocated a switch from a front- to a mid-engine design because of the latter’s superior engineering and weight balance. He envisioned the Corvette as a truly world-class sports car, and going mid-engine was essential. His dream is finally coming true.

It has an audio clip of Arkus-Duntov. The mid-engined C8 Corvette has more than 50 years of hard work under its belt. It’s the Corvette Arkus-Duntov wanted from the beginning, and Chevrolet is finally delivering.

Regardless, all questions will be answered in just over a month. At the end of April, Chevrolet dropped a teaser for the Corvette C8. Also teased was the mid-engined layout.

Chevrolet has experimented before with the idea of a mid-engined Corvette and a lot of the ideas were crammed into the teaser. Chevy has released a video which goes slower to view all of the hidden references from the original Corvette video, a lot were difficult to distinguish because of the teaser’s quick cuts. The breakdown video opens with a camouflaged C8 Corvette before breaking down the transition between the C1 and C8 Corvette logos.

Here’s to hoping it’s everything Zora could have wanted or imagined. Chevy and the Corvette nameplate have a lot riding on the new mid-engined layout. It’s also unsure why Chevy chose the date 07.08.19 for the reveal.

The 2020 C8 Corvette Is Rumored To Get A Computer Upgrade

MuscleCarsandTrucks.com is claiming that the 2020 Chevrolet C8 Corvette may be “un-tunable.” Meaning, you can’t modify the car’s engine computer to get more power out of it without potentially “updating” the vehicle. Or at the very least sending the electronics where they reduce engine power to a sort of safety mode.

According to the site’s sources, the C8’s engine computer will be capable of detecting the power-swelling code, fun-loving, and defaulting to some “recovery mode,” in MuscleCarsandTrucks’ own words. It could be accurate, but there are hints in that publication’s wording that suggests they’re making a mountain from a molehill. For sure, the C8 likely has some computer encryption—as most cars do—that when faced with incomplete or incompatible software will default to a failsafe mode. MuscleCarsandTrucks.com says the C8 will do this when “a programming event fails.”

That doesn’t suggest that the C8 is inaccessible to aftermarket tuning efforts—only that the C8 is like any other modern vehicle. What might be at play here is MuscleCarsandTrucks.com’s sources where they were answering questions regarding GM’s new Global B electrical architecture, which is said to be guarded against hacking. Yes, ECUs are so equipped will brick themselves if malicious code is introduced into theirs—but that’s separate from tuning efforts.

What MuscleCarsandTrucks.com is describing will not be a big concern for any C8 buyer or the tuners who like to handle code in the pursuit of power. Even today’s C7 Corvette possesses layers of security similar to what’s described here, and it is hardly “un-tunable.” Properly fleshed-out tuning software, although it’ll likely void the C8 Corvette’s warranty, it’s probably not an impossibility.

There’s a new teaser video for the C8. The video shows clips of fighter jets flying, rockets taking off, and mid-engined Chevy concepts of the past scattered with footage of the C8 racing around what looks a lot like the Nürburgring. The timer ends on 07.18.19, which is the release date for the C8.

General Motors is revealing that the Corvette will reach another generation and has confirmed that the car, the bona fide 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8. There’s a rumor that it will make its debut on July 18th. There’s been plenty of information on the upcoming C8 for the past five years, and Chevrolet is finally ready to talk about it.

While spy photos showing the C8’s vastly different proportions and low-slung silhouette have circulated on the internet for years now, what is out there are the first real photos of the car that Chevrolet has supplied—and it’s also the first time the company has even acknowledged the existence of what might be the auto industry’s secret. GM CEO Mary Barra is announcing the Siller Foundation charity gala in New York, and she drove in style in none other than in the Corvette itself, driven by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter. While Chevrolet is keeping quiet on any specifications for the next few months, there is plenty to know about the C8’s powertrains, and there have even been glimpses of its interior.

The Stingray is this first Corvette C8 model we will see in July, which will kick off the lineup. The upgraded version of the current car’s pushrod, which is the 6.2-liter V-8, will be used and it will most likely be updated to produce anywhere around 500 horsepower; the engine will also be renamed to LT2 which will reflect the new location in the car. There is a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic gearbox which is supplied from Tremec, and it’s slated to be the only transmission choice.

Multiple high-performance alternatives are set to follow in quick succession, which are the Z06, ZR1, and a range-topping hybrid that could use the Zora name. The Z06 could have a DOHC 5.5-liter V-8 with a flat-plane crankshaft, while the ZR1 could add twin turbochargers to that engine. The Zora will get the twin-turbo V-8 and an electric motor in the front axle to cement its place as the most potent Corvette, with a combined power rating that could approach 1000 horsepower.

Chevrolet will hold on pricing for the 2020 Corvette. Expect the new Corvette to cost around $62,000 to start, an increase of around $5000 compared with the C7 Stingray’s starting price of $56,995. There’s no official on-sale date yet, but given that Chevrolet is already rolling out a “Next-Generation Corvette” page on its consumer website, we feel certain that the order books will open by the end of 2019 at the latest.

Chevrolet has decided to be creative with ways to provide their L87 6.2-Liter V8 engine in the hands of more drivers. How could they do that? General Motors (the parent company of Chevrolet) worked on adding the strong powertrain with more Silverado trims. Now customers can experience the massive Chevy V8 powertrain and its remarkable 435 horsepower with three more trim options. Considering a new pickup? We loved the latest Chevrolet Silverado, which was redesigned as the all-new 2019 Silverado 1500. The upcoming 2020 Silverado 1500 is going to surpass this pickup in more ways than one giving customers more options than before.

Changes to the Silverado

Chevrolet made their all-new Silverado 1500 lighter, yet stronger with the 2019 version. Reports have come out that the towing technology will be improved and more powertrain availability is expected. More than half of the trims for the 2020 Silverado 1500 will have access to the available 6.2-Liter V8 engine with its 10-speed automatic transmission. The Silverado will offer three body styles and eight trim levels to choose from, as there is a perfect fit for all customers to drive. The Work Truck is the base trim that is the only single-cab configuration. The Custom is the next higher trim that adds 20-inch aluminum wheels and LED taillights. Custom Trail Boss trim adds a two-inch suspension lift and the available Z71 package that can be added to higher-end Silverado trims is standard. The package adds Rancho shocks, skid plates, Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, and a locking rear differential to safely handle going on roads less traveled. This is one of the trims, along with the LT Trail Boss that can opt for the monstrous 6.2-Liter V8 engine.

Opt for the LT trim, which adds an 8.0-inch touchscreen and available leather seats for a more traditional pickup look. The RST, like the LT, gain access to the 310 horsepower turbocharged inline-four powertrain. This is the first ever turbocharged four-cylinder engine in a full-size pickup and only the LT and RST have the option. The RST can also add the 6.2-Liter V8 engine should a driver want. The strength of the RST was improved as its towing capacity reaches 13,400 pounds with the new powertrain option, thanks to its 435 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque.

Higher End Trims of the Silverado

The most flexible trim might be the LT Trail Boss because of the Off-Road prowess and its standard 5.3-Liter V8 engine paired to an eight-speed transmission. Looking for the luxurious Silverado option? The LTZ is decked out in chrome from the grille to the door handles, wheels and mirrors. The LTZ supplies the 5.8-Liter powertrain and the 6.2-Liter V8 and the turbo-diesel straight-six engine as available choices. The head of the class for all trims is the High Country, which adds bronze accents throughout and integrated dual exhaust tips, fine leather seating, and available 22-inch wheels. Chrome highlights mix in with the bronze to provide a sleek look on the gorgeous High Country trim.

Under the Hood Is Where the Gold Is

Chevrolet is expected to offer their 469 lb-ft of torque V8 powertrain with optional Performance Upgrade Package that will also include a cat-back exhaust and a different air intake for customers. The 3.0-Liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine arrives for the first time with the 2020 Silverado, offered on the LT, RST, LTZ and High Country trims. Owners opting for the diesel engine gain 277 horsepower with a powerful 460 lb-ft of torque. Chevrolet introduced the 2.7-Liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engineered specifically for pickup driving. All of these upgrades only add more reasons why customers should consider the latest Silverado.
