Chevy Corvette Sees Impressive Q3 Sales, Ranks First Among Premium Sports Cars

Thursday, October 14th, 2021

The Chevy Corvette recently enjoyed impressive third quarter (Q3) sales in the United States. The luxury sports car managed to surpass its previous Q3 sales by about 60 percent. Chevrolet is certainly enjoying the increased popularity as its Corvette model ranked higher than competitors by huge margins. The automaker has been turning its focus on electric vehicles lately, a move many other automakers have seemed to attempt. Chevrolet has teased its all-new all-electric Chevy Silverado and they have also hinted at a potential new electric sedan that may or may not replace the Camaro. It’s always a positive when an automaker can capitalize on its current lineup while continuing to meet consumers’ demands and interests. Electric vehicles have become a hot topic as of late given the climate crisis, but as seen with the Corvette’s sales numbers, it seems some folks are still looking to drive high-performance sports cars.

Chevy Corvette Sees Increased Sales Overall

The Chevy Corvette saw delivery numbers totaling 10,166 units in Q3 of 2021. This was an increase of 59.97 percent compared to the 6,355 units sold in Q3 of 2020. As for the entire year, the premium sports car saw sales increase about 96 percent to 24,748, compared to 12,634 the previous year. This increase was seen mainly in the first nine months of the year. These numbers allowed the Corvette to become the best-selling model in its class. Following the Corvette was the Porsche 911, then the Porsche 718, and after that came the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT in fourth. Overall, the Corvette managed to outsell all its rivals.

Corvette sales for the year included all Corvette body styles, variants, trim levels, and packages. In each quarter of 2021, the Corvette managed to post strong numbers. During each of its quarters, the Corvette accounted for at least 51 percent of the segment share. It should be noted that many competitors in the segment cost significantly more than the Corvette (the C8 starts at a base price of $58,900 [plus destination fee]). This may explain why rival sales numbers were as low as they were. Still, the Corvette managed to solidify its status as a desirable sports car.

Given the strong sales numbers, it’s clear the Corvette C8 line has more room for growth. Higher-performance variants are still on the way. Some of these include the C8 ZO6, C8 E-Ray, C8 ZR1, and the C9 Zora. The C8 Z06 will be the first variant to launch for the 2023 Corvette model year. As these variants continue to release, it’s expected that Chevy will see even greater sales numbers for its sports car. As long as production at the GM Bowling Green plant and the GM Tonawanda Engine plant continues without pause, Chevy should continue to see its Corvette reign at the top of the sports cars sales list.

Chevrolet Picks Up The Pace In The Electrified Race

Tuesday, October 12th, 2021

Automakers near and far are slowly making preparations to redevelop their platforms from gasoline-powered vehicles to those that are either fully electric or hybrids. This is especially so for pickup trucks, with this segment on course to becoming the most popular space for EV models. Some examples include Ford’s F-150 Lighting, Rivian R1T, Tesla’s Cybertruck, and more.

Another automaker throwing its hat into the electric pickup race is General Motors (GM), as they’ve already confirmed the resurgence of its Hummer moniker under the GMC brand, but as a fully electric truck. The main focus on the construction of this vehicle will be its 1,000 horsepower output and “luxury off-roading”, but for buyers who are looking for something a bit simpler and rugged, they can opt for the newly-teased Chevrolet Silverado.

Last week Wednesday, (Oct.6), Chevrolet said that it would introduce the electric version of the Silverado truck at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2022. The event, which is held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada, is one of the world’s prominent industry trade shows. Mary Barra, GM’s CEO is set to make the full reveal of the pickup in January, but in the meantime, here’s what you should know.

First and foremost, the Silverado will be powered by the brand’s new Ultium battery system. These packs will support the company’s next-generation electric models all across its brands, providing energy storage that range from 50 kilowatt-hours to 200 kWh. GM has said before that these batteries will provide “up to 400 miles or more on a full charge”, which mirrors the figure that the Silverado was given. This gives us reason to believe that the pickup’s battery will be the same size as the electrified Hummer.

The Silverado will be produced at GM’s Factory Zero plant by the side of the Hummer EV and the untitled GMC electric pickup.

Another point of interest is the truck’s glass roof. This optional transparent type of ceilings feeds off the recent trend of fixed glass roofs geared on vehicles such as the Tesla Model 3 and Ford Mustang Mach-E. The Hummer EV also sports a congruous “Infinity Roof”, at the same time, the Silverado’s roof will be mounted rather than removable like the Hummer’s top-frame.

In August, GM announced that the Silverado EV will involve a set of kicks going up as far as 24-inches, which is the largest pair of wheels that has ever been offered on a pickup from Factory Zero. This vehicle will also encompass available four-wheel steering, which in the same way as the electric Hummer’s system, can aid in maneuvering its way in tight spaces by lessening the turning radius and possibly even positioning the truck diagonally.

Mark Reuss, president of General Motors, made his expectations clear during a recent press call that its target customers for the battery-powered version of the Silverado will contrast from conventional pickup buyers. This would make sense as to why the company chose the CES to showcase the truck as opposed to a standalone event, but it may also indicate that what GM anticipates the truck market to evolve into as it transitions even more towards a luxury segment while keeping a considerable amount of utility. The carmaker also revealed the availability of a fleet version, which essentially is the draft horse within the lineup and usually has the groundwork as the retail model, just more centered on functionality and not so much about interior opulence.

GM still has more in store with its Silverado, some that we’ll have to wait a little longer for. However, with recent revelations relating to the company’s semi-autonomous driving functions, the pickup may be likely to become a knockout with future pickup buyers. Be on the lookout in January for the unveiling of the truck at the CES, and in the meantime…

Chevrolet to Retire the Camaro With Final Collector’s Edition Package

Friday, October 8th, 2021

Chevrolet will be retiring the iconic Camaro. Rumors of the pony car’s inevitable demise have been floating around for a while, but Chevrolet confirmed that the Camaro will see one final Collector’s Edition Package sometime in 2024. Chevrolet has not said anything about the Camaro nameplate and whether it will continue to be used with future iterations, but there has been some talk of a potential electric sedan replacing the Camaro. This would be in line with Chevy working toward its own electric vehicles like the all-electric Chevy Silverado. Whether this electric sedan would mirror the Camaro however is still up for debate, but we’ll need more information from Chevrolet before speculating too much. For now, all we know is that the Chevy Camaro will not be around much longer.

Chevy Camaro to be Retired

The Chevrolet Camaro has been an iconic muscle car that has spurred hype and excitement for powerful sedans. Sadly, like most things that era will have to come to an end. According to a report from Muscle Cars & Trucks, Chevy will retire the pony car in the 2024 model year. The automaker will release a Collector’s Edition package for the muscle car but no variants or Z/28 trims will come available. Fans wishing to get the latest Camaro before its final end will have to look out for the final edition as Chevy will only build 2,000 of them. Some good news however is that customers will be able to purchase trimmings for the LT, SS, and ZL1 models.

The Collector’s Edition Package for the Chevy Camaro will be the final iteration of the Camaro. Camaro fans will still have plenty of gear options like stripes and unique badges, but the muscle car comes in limited availability. Another note about the Collector’s Edition Package Camaro is that it will come available with a yellow exterior color. Naturally, a paint job can be considered, but for fans hoping for different colors, there won’t be so much luck. Still, one last chance to purchase a Camaro is better than none. We’ll have to see what Chevy does in the future, but it looks like a sendoff will be in order. And as previously mentioned, Chevy hasn’t said much about the Camaro’s end, but they did mention work on an electric sedan. That may be the only hope Camaro fans have left for a return of the muscle car, but chances are that nothing will beat out the original.

The 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban Dare To Indulge You Just A Bit More

Tuesday, October 5th, 2021

The Chevrolet company is preparing to revamp their Tahoe and Suburban SUVs for their 2022 model, but don’t worry, they aren’t throwing out the baby with the bath water. Instead, the automaker is simply making their formula more agreeable to a larger crowd, and they’re doing this by making their 6.2-L V8 engine more available. While this motor was previously reserved as the standard engine on the top-ranking High Country trim, and not even an option on the others, it’s now being unlocked on the RST, Z71, and Premier levels. Now more buyers will get to enjoy a thrilling ride with the powertrains output of 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Last month (September 10th), we discussed that this engine might require additional options, with the exclusion of the Premier. The Premier model with the V8 motor has a standalone option. At the same time, RST buyers will need to get the Sport Performance Package, while buyers of the Z71 will have to get either the Z71 Off-Road Package or mixture of packages such as Off-Road Performance, Off-Road Capability, Max Trailering, and Luxury.

On the Z71 trim, the new electronic limited-slip differential is included in the Off-Road Performance Package, which results in better responsiveness from the rear wheels while driving when the roads are slippery. Those who opt for this package also means that they’ll get the Max Trailering and Luxury Packages too.

The availability of other two engine options in the lineup don’t change, specifically the 5.3-liter V8 with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft, and the 3.0-liter diesel with 277 hp and 460 lb-ft.

Inhouse, beginning with the LT model and up, the gauge cluster expands to a fully digital 12-3 inch display with four preset configurations. Google Automotive has been implemented into the vehicle systems for better integration of particular apps and services. This involves voice commands, which means without plugging in his or her phone, passengers can use Google Assistnt’s voice control to make changes, such as with the stereo volume, the radio stations, or the climate control. The 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen is brought over, but it will show up to 13 different camera angles when matched with a trailer that it’s compatible with, and a suitable Trailering package. If connected, these images include a a rear trailer view, picture-in-picture side view, and the scene inside a trailer

As part of the brand’s Safety Assist Suite, all trims are geared with Front and Rear Park Assist and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. It also comes with five surplus driver assist technologies, and even Buckle to Drive. There are five new designs available on particular trims, while each Tahoe and Suburban have three new colors for buyers to select from: Auburn Metallic, Dark Ash Metallic, and Evergreen Gray Metallic.

It’s worth noting that ordering some of these options might be contingent on the current happenings regarding the chip shortage, possibly having you faced with either lessening some items off your shopping list or just being patient. The 2022 Tahoe and Suburban will begin their production at General Motors Arlington, Texas facility in October, with pricing being announced at a later date.

2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer Earns Top Safety Pick+ Rating from IIHS

Thursday, September 30th, 2021

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer was recently awarded the Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The compact crossover SUV has been a fairly popular choice for many SUV fans. Its affordable price and reliable handling make it an excellent choice. The spacious interior and stylish exterior also earn it points. The inclusion of Chevrolet’s latest safety package, Chevy Safety Assist, has raised the standards of the Chevy Trailblazer. With this safety package and additional safety features, the 2022 Trailblazer managed to pass the IIHS’s safety tests with a good or acceptable rating across all trims. Most vehicles manage to receive a Top Safety Pick award but to attain a Top Safety Pick+ award, the vehicle must have a positive evaluation across all its trims. The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer did exactly that.

2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer Passes IIHS Tests With Top Ratings

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer underwent several tests and inspections to obtain the Top Safety Pick+ award. These included side, driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, roof strength, and head restraint tests. Alongside all these tests, the Trailblazer underwent a test of its front crash prevention system. The Chevy Safety Assist package includes all these safety metrics, so it’s no wonder the Trailblazer did as well as it did. One last measure for the safety tests is the headlights. These were evaluated as acceptable and good.

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer hit all the marks of the IIHS safety tests. The Chevy Safety Assist package was responsible. Chevrolet recently updated its safety package to include more features and alerts. Some of these include automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision alerts, front pedestrian braking, lane-departure warnings, and automatic Intellibeam high beams. Depending on trim level, the Trailblazer may have additional safety features. These might include an HD rear vision camera, lane change and side blind zone alerts, rear cross-traffic alerts, rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, and OnStar safety and security coverage.

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer also earned a top five-star crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This comes after the compact SUV’s previous four-star crash rating. The current higher rating was due to Chevrolet’s Safety Assist. The package improved the Trailblazer’s safety standards with hardware and software updates. These all proved to be very beneficial given the 2022 Trailblazer’s safety ratings and evaluations. The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer starts at $21,600 MSRP (plus destination fee). With its stylish exterior, comfortable handling, and top-notch safety ratings it’s a choice to consider.

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado Brings On A Larger Screen Among Several Features

Tuesday, September 28th, 2021

The 2022 Silverado Get’s A New 13.4-inch Interior Screen

The 2022 Chevy Silverado pickup truck has been refashioned in more ways than one. The new kid in town brings a slew of changes and advancements over its 2021 predecessor and the 2022 Silverado Limited trim. The highlighting feature among these improvements is an interior design that has been reworked from top to bottom and involves a new 13.4-inch infotainment screen.

This standard new and larger infotainment technology is geared on 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 models, like the LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ, and High Country. The 13.4-inch gadget is set to come our way and act as a replacement for the 8-inch screen previously featured on the 2019’s to the interim period of 2022’s Limited models. The new and exciting interior setup also involves wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, together with built-in tech features from Google, like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play.

As you can see from the picture below, the larger front-row screen expands horizontally across the dashboard and is split in half, with the left side of the display dominated by virtual user interface buttons, and the right encompassing features regarding the directions and map. Additionally, there is a physical Home button that sits at the left of the volume knob, along with a set of USB ports (also involving one USB-C port) in the center of the stack located to the right of the climate controls.

On its own, the screen is fixed with a “floating” design that carries it out of the center stack, while also implementing an air vent by the left side of the driver’s seat, as well as a storage bin above and in the back of the screen.

For the time being, there hasn’t been anything announced for other models, like the WT, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss. One should know that these trims have been previously geared as a standard with a 7-inch screen for the 2022-interim Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited.

Surplus updates that you’ll find noteworthy for this upcoming 2022 revamped model year include a new 12.3-inch configurable instrument cluster, which is geared as standard on all restyled 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 models furnished with the tuned up interior design. Furthermore, buyers will have access to General Motor’s semi-autonomous Super Cruise driver-assist system, found on the High Country trim level. This particular model will come with assisted trailering capabilities and the luxury that you’ll already come to know and love.

Miami Lakes Chevy

The new and improved 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck is set to open in December. Production for this vehicle is scheduled to embark in the first quarter of next year, and it’s expected that the company will give us more scoop within a few weeks.

When the time comes to purchase your adventurous car, be sure to do it at Miami Lakes Automall. We carry an extensive range of vehicles in various shapes and sizes, as well as prices. GM Defense Wins Contract to Build Super Suburbans

Friday, September 24th, 2021

General Motors just received a big win. The automaker has been making headlines recently with its rollout of all-new vehicles like the Chevy Silverado ZR2 and the all-electric Chevy Silverado. Now the automaker is making more news as its subsidiary GM Defense takes on a new $36.4 million contract from the state department. This contract dictates that GM Defense will create heavy-duty Suburbans for the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS). Federal law enforcement and security departments will make use of the tough defense-oriented vehicles. This is huge news as the automaker will work to produce 10 of the super SUVs and eventually more should the project go well.

GM Defense to Produce Super Suburban

GM Defense, a subsidiary of General Motors, will start work on heavy-duty Suburbans in the spring of 2022. The subsidiary company was only recently formed in 2017, but it has already made quite a lot of headway. In 2020, the United States Army awarded GM Defense its first contract worth $214.3 million. This contract was to build Infantry Squad Vehicles (ISV) which would be based on the 2020 Chevrolet ZR2 pickup. These ISVs were designed for rapid ground mobility and are capable of carrying a nine-soldier infantry squad. Now the GM Defense subsidiary is working toward another contract. About this new project, the president of GM Defense Steve duMont said,

“Our development contract win speaks to our long-standing legacy of exceeding transportation capabilities and our new, HD Suburban will deliver government-specific advanced mobility solutions to meet the needs of DSS,” said Steve duMont, president of GM Defense.

GM Defense will use GM’s commercial vehicle architecture to design the new Suburbans for the DSS. The architecture will provide the framework for the body, exterior, interior, and brakes of the government-issue Suburbans. The new Suburbans will feature a unique body-on-frame chassis and suspension. These vehicles will utilize the latest in technology and manufacturing to ensure the government vehicles will have increased performance and greater ground weight. When producing vehicles for the state defense department, a certain level of detail is expected compared to commercial vehicles. It’s expected that GM Defense will aim to make the toughest and most capable vehicles for the department.

The GM Defense factory is located in Concord, North Carolina. The subsidiary delivered its first Infantry Squad Vehicle in October of 2020. It will continue to produce these ISVs as well as the new heavy-duty Suburbans. GM has landed on a great opportunity here so be on the lookout for these heavy-duty vehicles as well as the ISVs.

GM to Debut All-New Off-Road Chevrolet Silverado ZR2

Thursday, September 16th, 2021
Chevy Silverado ZR2

General Motors (GM) is getting ready to show off its latest pickup, the all-new off-road 2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2. This release comes in the midst of a global transition to electric vehicles. Most automakers have been aiming to produce their own version of an electric vehicle. GM has been teasing the all-electric Chevy Silverado and rumors have been spreading about a potential electric Camaro. With the all-new off-road 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2, GM is hoping to ramp up excitement and anticipation for its future lineup. The debut of a fully electric pickup has garnered the most interest, but GM has been sure to keep any information under wraps. For now, the automaker is providing updates and adding new features to its current lineup. Until more information is released about other vehicles, we’ll have to stick to pure speculation. The automaker has released details about the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 however, so we’ll dive into the new updates.

All-New Off-Road 2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2

GM unveiled the all-new off-road 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 ahead of the NFL’S first game of the season between the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. GM has enjoyed a lot of interest recently for its Silverado lineup, but this move to reach the greatest number of eyes was solid. According to the director of Chevrolet marketing Kelly MacDonald, about 60% of Silverado sales have been off-road-focused pickups. With so much interest in off-road capable pickups, it’s no wonder GM is updating its lineup.

The all-new off-road 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 will be getting a new exterior design and several new features and technologies. GM will update the pickup’s exterior with slimmer headlights and a refreshed grille. These will help display the brand’s logo more prominently. The new designs are similar to those of the updated 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, both of which share the same platform as the Silverado. Inside the Chevy Silverado ZR2, consumers will note more technologies such as an e-shifter. A larger infotainment screen and heads-up display will also accompany the new pickup.

The last addition to the all-new Chevy Silverado ZR2 will be safety and driver-assist features. These will consist of lane-keep assist, lane departure alerts, forward collision alerts, and automatic emergency braking. GM will also be including its new Super Cruise hands-free highway driving system. This new system will use sensors, radars, and cameras to help drivers better navigate the road. Pricing for the all-new off-road 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 has not been determined yet, however, the starting price for the Silverado lineup ranges from $30,000 to $60,000 MSRP (plus destination fee). The new pickup will most likely fall between these prices. Off-road pickups offer the function of a pickup with the versatility of an off-roader. GM is providing consumers with the best of both worlds. Consumers will be happy to see GM expanding and updating its lineup.
