Tuesday, September 14th, 2021

Motor Bella Auto Show

This month, from September 21st through September 26th, the Motor Bella outdoor auto show will be held at the M1 Concourse circuit in Pontiac, Michigan. General Motors will be among other automakers showcasing its new 2022 GMC Hummer EV pickup.

The Detroit Dealers Association helped to put together this experimental event after downtown Detroit’s annual North American International Auto Show had to come to a halt because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. According to the Association, this show will have over 400 vehicles on display, ride-and-drive amenities, and the showcasing of next-generation car technologies.

Onlookers will have the opportunity to see conventional auto show exhibitions, together with ride-along events and even charity vehicle giveaways.

At the General Motors booth during the event, attendees will see a “showcase the company’s rich motorsports legacy,” as said by the show’s organizers, indicating that the car maker will feature its previous race cars that were deemed successful during their prime, and maybe even race cars of today, such as the favored Corvette C8.R and Cadillac DPi-V.R. Resting at the site of the motorsports display will be the electric products of the current day as well as the future. These products will also involve the 2022 GMC Hummer EV pickup. Additionally, the manufacturer will conduct a media luncheon and panel discussion, with the topic based on legacy, and the future of racing and motorsports within the company.

Moreover, the Lost Corvettes will have 6,000-square-foot of dedicated space at the Motor Bella show. It’s here where 12 reconditioned classic Corvette cars, which are model years ranging from 1953 to 1989, will be presented. Car blog, GM Authority was previously the Lost Corvettes, used to be part of an art project conjured up by pop artist Peter Max. Max planned on using the cars as blank canvases for pop art pieces, however, this was an idea that never came to fruition, and ultimately left the Vette car to collect dust in parking garages located in Manhattan.

Finally, a non-profit organization, dubbed The Corvette Heroes came to save the day after discovering and purchasing these cars and are now giving them away to veterans and military families through the national sweepstakes campaign. 36 cars from the assortment will be given away and will also raise money for a non-profit organization called Stand for the Troops.

As previously stated, Motor Bella will come out swinging on September 21st, 2021 and will end on September 26th. Those who plan on attending should be on the lookout for the event’s phone app to launch before the event starts next Tuesday, which is said to be the “ultimate go-to resource with maps, exhibitor info, schedules and more,” according to the organizers.

The 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban Set The Standard For Full-Size SUVs

New Features For 2022

As with many automakers, the Chevrolet company performed a few nips and tucks on their new vehicles, particularly the upcoming Tahoe SUV and its extended Suburban sibling. Improvements that have been made the inside (all but base LS model) include a new 12-inch digital gauge display fenced in by a conventional analog tacho- and speedometer. These trims also receive a standard navigation system from the 10.2-inch central infotainment touchscreen. Additional standard features include Lane-Keeping Assist and parking sensors. At the same time, Reverse Automatic Braking is included in the high-ranking trims’ Enhanced Display and Alert package. Lastly, the 6.2-liter V8 option stretches to the ZR1, RST and Premier models, but with the exclusion of the Premier, you’ll need to select one or more packages.

Size Increase and Cargo Capacity

Last year, parent company, General Motors gave their full-size SUVs a complete revamp after nearly thirty years. These enhancements included a highly-anticipated switch to the independent rear suspension, which in turn allowed for extra interior space and cargo capacity. The 2022 Tahoe increased its overall length by 6.7 inches, along with 4.9 inches of its wheelbase. Meanwhile, the Suburban added 1.3 inches to its length and an incredible 4.1 inches to its wheelbase.

The Tahoe’s interior gains 3 inches of legroom in the second row, and a surplus of 10.1 inches in the third row partly due to the lower floor. The Surban also increases its space by a bit over 2 inches of legroom in each row.

Cargo space also made great improvements. In the Tahoe SUV, cargo measurements have increased by 10.2 cubic feet (specifically 25.5 cubes), while the Suburban increased its space by 2.2 cubic feet (overall 41.5 cubes).

Performance and Towing Specifications

There are three different engine types to pick for the 2022 Tahoe and Suburban. The entry-level motor is a naturally aspirated 5.3-liter V8, which has an output of 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. It’s matched with a 10-speed automatic transmission and has an available rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or four-wheel-drive (4WD).

Optional on the Z71, RST, Premier and High Country models is another naturally aspirated V8, but a 6.2-liter. It musters up 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. As with the 5.3-liter, it includes the same type of automatic and drive systems.

Additionally, the automaker is offering a unique diesel 3.0-liter inline-six engine, which is only one like in its class. It has an output of 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, and also shares the 10-speed automatic.

Towing capacities range from 7,500 and 8,000 lbs subject to body style, engine, and drivetrain. The tow package also increases capacity with each model, but only by a small margin.

Available Features

Basic gear that you’ll find in the beloved Chevrolet SUVs are the 5.3-liter V8, engine and transmission coolers, and a limited-slip differential. External features involve 18-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, running boards, rear parking sensors, LED headlights and remote start. Internal gadgets encompass three-zone climate control, eight-way power driver seat and six-way power passenger seat, the 10-inch infotainment screen, 4.2-inch screen in the instrument cluster, a six-speaker sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, driver assist features.

On higher trims, like the Z71, drivers get to revel in the charming and exclusive front fascia and bumper, which provides the car with a more aggressive appearance. It also includes hill-descent control, 20-inch wheels, all-terrain tires and a skid plate. Then, the luxurious High Country comes with the 6.2-liter V8, magnetic and air suspension, 22-inch wheels, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and lane keep assist, rear camera mirror, leather heated and cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, power-folding rear seats, a large instrument panel screen and head-up display, 10-speaker Bose sound system, and wireless phone charging.

On top of this, there are optional towing assist on both SUVs, which have cameras that have up to nine different views for maneuvering and monitoring one’s trailer. They are standard with a trailer guidance feature along with a rear-view camera. There’s even an app on the infotainment system that allows users to store information about their trailer and perform various checks as they hook up the motor home.

Safety and Driver Assist Features

At last, the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban advocate for safety as they provide owners with an array of technologies, such as the standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder. Optional technologies (standard on higher trims) include reverse automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors and adaptive cruise control.

The 2022 Chevy Camaro Is Back In Action In More Ways Than One

Thursday, August 26th, 2021

The 2022 Chevy Camaro Is Finally In Production

We’ve recently learned that the Chevrolet company is bringing their 2022 Chevrolet Camaro into production at the GM Lansing Grand River assembly plant in Lansing, Michigan GM Authority. Due to the current microchip shortage impacting various automakers, including Chevy, it has contributed to the delay of General Motors (GM) with the Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5, along with the upcoming Camaro vehicle.

Owing to this delay, inventory for the 2022 muscle car went down, which also contributed to the decrease in Camaro sales. More specifically, car site, GM Authority, reported last month that these Carmo sales went down to a 9 percent segment share during the second quarter of last year.

These year-to-date 2021 Camaro sales came up to 9,881 units, which is a decrease of 29 percent as opposed to 2020’s calendar year of 13,860 units. These shares come up to 14 percent, which is down 2020 percent reported in 2020.

The 2022 Camaro is in its seventh model year and has received a few beautifications and updates as opposed to the previous year. Production of this vehicle was initially set this year, Monday, June 14th, but that date was eventually pushed back.

These augmentations involve the adding of two new exterior colors, along with discontinuing two other exterior options, specifically Crush, which is an orange hue using the paint code G16, with the addition of Shock, a green-yellow with the paint code GKO. New options include Rapid Blue, which we saw at the Daytona race, NASCAR Beef It’s What’s For Dinner 300, last February. The second color is Vivid Orange Metallic.

Other features that we’re saying bye to include the LT 1LE Track Performance Package and the 20-inch Caliente wheelset.

Live Configurations

The news of the 2022 Chevy Camaro goes even further as the company has launched an online configurator tool, enabling loyalists to make their own distinctive personalization to the pony car.

Similar to other configurators of GM, this one, in particular, allows its users to select from either the Coupe or Convertible body types and choose their desired trim level. The specific models that will be brought forth from the previous Camaro involve 1LS, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, 1SS, 2SS, and ZL1. Buyers can also choose colors for the exterior and interior, as well as packages and options.

An example of what one could do with the configurator is to put Rapid Blue as an exterior color for the 1SS Coupe, with Medium Ash Gray for the interior upholstery. Another is to add on Black Accent Exterior Package, which encompasses a satin black painted front splitter and side rockers, along with 20-inch split-spoke Satin Black wheels.

The upcoming Camaro is certainly geared up and will require that buyers give up $56,920, (plus destination fee) for the base price, as well as $4,420 for selected packages. Additionally, selected options require $7,815, (plus destination fee).

The performance packages will come available as optional equipment. They will feature a new 6.2L V8 engine and dual twin polished stainless-steel exhaust tips. Currently, the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban feature a 5.3L V8 gasoline engine capable of 355 horsepower and 383lb-ft of torque. The new 6.2L V8 will bring the horsepower and torque to 420 and 460 respectively. Alongside the new 6.2L V8 engine is a 3.0L turbo-diesel Duramax engine. This will produce 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It will provide consumers with a more fuel-efficient and torque-rich engine. All three engines will be paired with General Motors’ hydra-matic 10-speed automatic transmission.

In addition to the off-road performance package, consumers will need to select the off-road capability package. It includes magnetic ride control, air ride adaptive suspension, and an electronic limited-slip differential. All of this will improve stability and enhance control so drivers can feel safe and secure. Chevrolet will begin production on the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban on October 4th, 2021. The Chevy Tahoe Z71 trim will be available for $61,900 (plus destination fee) and the Chevy Suburban Z71 trim will be available for $59,200 MSRP (plus destination fee). All-New All-Electric Chevy Silverado to Feature Rear-Axle Steering

Thursday, August 19th, 2021

Chevrolet has been making headlines with its plans to compete with automakers like Ford and Tesla. The automaker has released some pretty tough vehicles like the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500, for example. Now, the automaker is aiming its sights on a new electric pickup, the all-new all-electric Chevy Silverado. Chevrolet has said the new electric pickup is set to enter production in early 2023. That doesn’t mean the automaker can’t tease consumers with hints and rumors about its specifications. The latest of these come directly from Chevrolet as it announced that the fully electric Chevy Silverado will feature optional rear-axle steering. Additionally, Chevrolet stated that the new electric pickup will have up to 400 miles of range. We’ll have to wait for more information about the pickup, but from what Chevrolet stated, we can speculate about the electric Silverado and what Chevy plans to do with it.

Rear-Axle Steering for the Chevy Silverado

The all-new all-electric Chevy Silverado will come available with optional rear-axle steering. This inclusion will tighten the pickup’s turning radius by allowing the rear wheels to turn in the opposite direction of the front wheels. This feature is similar to the one seen with the electric GMC Hummer, however, it isn’t likely that the new electric Silverado will have the same functionality. The GMC Hummer EV features a crab walk of sorts where it uses all four wheels to move freely, even diagonally. The electric Chevy Silverado will utilize the rear-axle steering to increase its maneuverability, but consumers shouldn’t expect such function and mobility as shown with the EV Hummer.

The fully electric Chevy Silverado will utilize General Motors’ Ultium battery platform. GM plans to use this platform for its future electric vehicles. For the electric Silverado, multiple powertrain configurations and battery pack sizes will be available. Chevrolet stated that the new electric pickup will have up to 400 miles of range. This battery platform will help ensure that. Chevrolet has also stated that the new pickup will come available in several work-oriented trims. More highly equipped trims will also be available. The last note Chevyrolet shared is that the Chevy Silverado will feature optional 24-inch wheels. Production of the all-new all-electric Chevy Silverado is set for 2023. We will have to wait for more teasers and information, but from what we’ve seen, the electric pickup is looking to cause an upset among the competition.

Revamped 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 to Debut Soon

Thursday, August 12th, 2021

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is getting a new look. The newly revamped full-size pickup will be unveiled on September 9th, 2021. Production of the pickup will begin later in 2021 on September 20th and September 27th. For now, Chevy fans can get a closer look at some of the new features being offered.

What’s New for the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500?

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will be getting several improvements to its interior and exterior. The full-sized pickup will also be getting a new architecture platform that will provide new technology features. Inside the refreshed 2022 Silverado, drivers will find an overhauled cabin with a new dash, center stack, and center console. A large infotainment screen and a digital gauge cluster also come equipped inside the pickup. Another change being made will be to the traditional column gear shifter. It will be getting replaced with a new electronic gear select system.

Looking at the exterior of the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500, several minor changes can be seen. One change is a revision to the front fascia. Additional changes to the full-sized pickup include new headlamps, a redesigned tailgate, and different taillights. These will give the new pickup a distinct look that sets it apart from previous iterations.

New Global B Architecture System

One of the most drastic changes to the new 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is that it will be migrating to GM’s new Global B electrical architecture system. This new architecture will enable over-the-air updates, a feature many automakers are introducing. This new over-the-air update system will allow GM to offer consumers the latest technology features. One of these features is GM’s hands-free Super Cruise drive system which provides drivers with a level 2 autonomous system. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, levels of autonomous technology range from 1-5. Since GM’s driver-assist system is a level 2, this means that it will offer semi-autonomous driver assistance. Drivers will be able to remove their hands from the steering wheel during extended periods of driving, but they should still remain alert and engaged to the road.

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will also come alongside a new trim, the Silverado ZR2. This trim will feature an upgraded suspension, knobby tires, and underbody skid plates for better off-road performance. The full-sized pickup will debut on September 9th, 2021, but reservations have been made available already. Production of the pickup will begin on September 20th, 2021 at the GM Silao plant in Mexico as well as at the GM Fort Wayne Assembly plant in Indiana on September 27th, 2021. A price hasn’t yet been determined for the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500, but estimates put the pickup between a range of $29,000-$35,000 MSRP (plus destination fee).

New Patent Images Suggest That An Electric Chevrolet Is Coming Our Way

Tuesday, August 10th, 2021

Recently, the Chevrolet company published a design patent that demonstrates what could possibly be the next-generation of their Chevrolet Equinox electric SUV. The revamped platform will alter its design and technologies, and we can guess that this new crossover will have to carry a different moniker, but for the time being, it’s certain that this mid-size vehicle will be the electric equivalent of the current model.

Taking into account General Motors’ (GM) position on electrics versus hybrids, we can deduce that these recent publications of the Equinox crossover are a direct reflection of a vehicle that totally does away with relying on gasoline. To further explain, the car company already said that it wants to hone in on efforts towards vehicles that are fully electric, and that its studies reveal customers don’t particularly love hybrids.

Moreover, the illustrations show that the vehicle has a closed front end, which almost mirrors that of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV, along with the Cadillac Lyriq. On top of this, the drawings don’t depict that it will make room for an exhaust system, which is obviously needed for a hybrid vehicle.

On the other hand, other elements that support our theory that this electric Equinox to-be. For example, last November, CEO Mary Barra, said that GM would upgrade its financial undertaking to electrics and self-driving vehicles of $7 billion with the aim of releasing 30 new electrics worldwide by 2025. Even before this statement, the automaker said the GMC Hummer EV pickup truck, and eventually went on to develop the Hummer EV product line together with the Hummer EV SUV.

GM also disclosed the refashioned 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV and its brand-new and larger relative, the Bolt EUV, coupled with the upcoming Cadillac Lyriq luxury crossover. That being the case, Barra went further in explaining that the ongoing microchip shortage won’t affect the company’s rollout for their electric vehicles, however, it has slowed down production of the upgraded 2022 Chevy Equinox SUV until the middle of August.

It’s almost a given that this type of vehicle will make use of the company’s Ultium Drive And Motor Technology, which are made for a wide range of implementations, such as front-wheel-drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and can even be utilized by vehicles of high-performance and off-road capabilities. This highlights Barra’s view that GM has the ability to “put everyone in an EV.”

Although the patent was indeed filed by SAIC-GM (Shanghai General Motors Company) for the market for China, most of the Ultium Drive workings like the castings, gears and assemblies will be constructed with parts that are globally sourced at GM’s current global propulsion facilities on collective, adjustable assembly lines, which means that this model may eventually wander on to the States; Which is safe to say would be aligned with GM’s motivations for global coverage.

While we’re waiting for the new and improved Chevrolet Equinox, as well as other electrified vehicles in the works, Miami Lakes Automall has a plethora of vehicles like the gasoline version of their crossover SUV, as well as a variety of other different models that range in various shapes and prices. Those who are interested in any of our vehicles can simply view our online new car inventory and chat with a representative for further assistance.

Chevy Camaro to be Replaced by an Electric Sedan

Thursday, August 5th, 2021
2021 Chevy Camaro

The Chevy Camaro seems to be nearing its end. As automakers vie for the spotlight, transitions toward electric vehicles have been increasingly common. General Motors (GM) recently announced its goal to transition to electric vehicles by 2035. This spells uncertainty for the gas-fueled Camaro as GM has stated that it wants to rid itself of its gas and diesel-powered cars, trucks, and SUVs by 2035. Aside from the question of feasibility, many have to wonder what will happen to vehicles like the Chevy Camaro.

Future of the Chevy Camaro

As GM looks toward producing electric vehicles, we have to wonder what will happen to the gas and diesel vehicles left over. Currently, the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro lacks a replacement. GM could hypothetically mount the Camaro on the rear-drive-based A2XX architecture used to underpin the Cadillac CT4 and CT5, but GM has made no mention of doing so. Thus, it seems the Camaro will meet its end in 2024.

Moving toward more optimistic news, the Camaro name may live on despite the high-performance muscle car fading away. With news of GM’s move toward electrification, the Camaro name may be used for a performance-oriented all-electric sedan. Transforming the iconic two-door into a four-door may seem unlikely, but given the current nature of the world, nearly anything can be made possible.

Could an All-Electric Sedan be on the Way?

GM has stated its plans for an all-electric sedan. Whether it will replace the Chevy Camaro is up for debate, but it does leave many wondering if it can compete in the EV sector. It is expected that an all-electric sedan successor will utilize GM’s Ultium battery tech. This should provide the electric sedan with a good range and high-end charging capabilities. As for performance, we can look toward innovative vehicles like the GMC Hummer EV, which is slated to come available with 1000 horsepower and a quick 0-60mph.

Many have deduced that the next generation of high-performance vehicles by Chevy stands to deliver. This applies to the rumored all-electric sedan which has many excited. It should be noted that the Chevrolet 2023 Corvette Z06 recently received an unveiling date scheduled for later in the Fall of 2021. We will have to see what Chevrolet decides to equip the sports car with and whether it will come electric. Depending on the specs and performance, a new-generation Camaro could also be likely later in the future.

The Chevrolet Company Confirms That The Corvette Z06 Is Coming Our Way In 2023

Friday, July 30th, 2021

The Chevrolet company has confirmed to automotive lovers everywhere that it will unveil its latest and greatest 2023 Corvette Z06 sometime this fall. Beyond these details is more or less speculation, such as the possibility of the sports car being fully electric, which shouldn’t be considered too much of a stretch given the current trend for conventional car brands.

The parent company to Chevrolet, General Motors has said that it will bring out 30 new electric vehicles by 2025. So far, it has only publicized a small number, which includes the GMC Hummer EV pickup, Hummer EV SUV, the Cadillac Lyriq SUV, and a fully-electric version of the Silverado pickup.

Last week Monday (July 19), the automaker released a short teaser video advertising the 2023 Z06. In it, you’ll hear the roar of the Corvette’s engine, as the viewer can only see the racetrack and city streets. The video eventually ends with the tagline, “The streets will never sound the same.”

Around this time, two years ago, the car company brought forth its very first mid-engine Corvette Stingray. Then on Monday, Chevrolet wrote in a statement “This fall, the story will continue with the reveal of the all-new 2023 Corvette Z06, the supercar that will put the world on notice.”

At some point in the video, you also see a tagline that says “The streets will never sound the same”, which some fans are speculating that this could be Chevrolet’s way of telling us that this model is indeed an electrified one.

In August of last year, in the middle of an 80-second campaign ad, run by President Joe Biden, he told viewers about his love for cars, specifically his Corvette, following this by saying “They tell me” that GM is working on an all-electric version of the famous sports car that will go 200 mph.

According to Detroit Free Press, a person who is well acquainted with the production of the brand confirmed intentions for a fully electrified version of the sporty vehicle, however, the specifics regarding the time and maximum speed were not known.

More than likely, the electric model will take at least two years or more to be released, as said by this acquainted person last year. They also stated that the car will be in accordance with the brand’s performance versions because of the market in 2021. This source declined to reveal themselves because they were not authorized to speak with media outlets.

Last month, Chevrolet selected Detroit’s Belle Isle Park to unveil a new Limited Edition supercar performance version of the respected Vette, along with announcing new colors, pricing, and additional features of the 2022 mid-engine Stingray, which begins production later this year.

The 2022 mid-engine Stingray, which eager customers could start ordering this month, will increase in price from the 2021 model, however, it will encompass some new games and prizes to advance performance. It will also be offered in three new colors.

Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)

Sales for the Chevrolet Bolt EV jumped significantly around 335 percent during the second quarter of this year, which made way for the miniature electric to improve its segment share by 3 percentage points.

Ultimately, the hatchback came in second place in the electric vehicle segment, as the Toyota Prius earned 45 percent of the rest of the share, specifically with a 175 percent increase in sales volume. Yet and still, the Chevrolet subcompact outsold the remaining segment, which involved the Hyundai Ioniq, the fresh-off-the-block Volkswagen ID.4,, the Honda Clarity, and its biggest rival, the Nissan Leaf.

It’s also worth knowing that these specific reports from the blog site, GM Authority, encompass both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, such as the case with the Honda Clarity. These big and bad automakers’ new energy vehicle segment has seen a significant expansion with over 264 percent to 54,796 units in Q2 2021, which means that the Bolt EV outperformed considerably in its segment.

What’s New With The Bolt EV For 2022?

The Chevrolet Bolt EV got a few nips and tucks during its launch in the middle of 2021, as well as this year’s models. New improvements involve new front and rear fascias, together with a series of improvements to the cabin. No changes were made to the electric drivetrain.

Additionally, the newest Bolt now has a big sister called the Bolt EUV, which has the space and body of an SUV. These fraternal twins share the automaker’s BEV2 platform, as well as the battery technology and powertrain.
