2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Tows More Than the Competition

The latest Chevrolet Silverado HD has increased its towing ability by more than half of its Chevrolet Silverado HD predecessor. With the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, owners can now haul more and expect greater things thanks to the fine work done by General Motors (GM) and their engineering team. The determination by GM and Chevrolet to push the envelope is apparent. Let us share all the details about the newest and massive Silverado HD. The massive Silverado carries a boxed ladder frame made up of mainly high-strength steel. How does this new HD pickup stand out among the other heavy-duty trucks on the market?

2020 Silverado HD > Competition

So, what caused this massive increase in towing ability? The last few years brought about increased competition among rival brands like Ford and Ram. Today’s Silverado delivers 35,500 pounds of maximum towing capacity, which is more than the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty (35,100) and 2019 Ford Super-Duty (30,000). Chevrolet is ahead of the game thanks to a beefed-up chassis and 10-speed Allison-brand transmission. Improved upon engineering even reached the way the engine is cooled thanks to the large front end design with lots of air intakes and a large 28-inch radiator fan.

Looking for choices? The Silverado HD offers plenty with 22 cab, bed, drivetrain and chassis combinations for owners to sift through; owners can build exactly what makes sense for their line of work and preference. Wheel sizes go from 17 inches through 20 inches. The Silverado HD pickups provide longer truck beds than previously produced. For example, the crew-cab models stretch out 10.4 inches longers and 1.4 inches wider. Improvement can be found everywhere including the most important aspect of the Silverado HD.

Powertrain Options Improved Upon

Owners of the new 2500 and 3500 have the choice of a 6.6-Liter, direct-injected Vortec V8 engine that provides 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque or a 6.6-Liter Duramax V8 turbo-diesel that reaches 445 horsepower and 910 ft-lb of torque. The new base engine is an improvement of the previous 2017 Silverado HD pickup’s base trim engine with its 6.0-Liter V8 engine that provided 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. There was an improvement of 41 horsepower and 84 torque. The strength of the Silverado has always been well-known, but going forward, the strength is ahead of the curve and exactly what owners want out of a truck.

Chevrolet Provides Unparalleled Towing

Chevrolet points out that 90 percent of its heavy-duty truck owners use their vehicles for towing. This is why the brand improved the technology and strength simply defined now as Chevrolet’s Advanced Trailering System. The 2020 Silverado HD provides available cameras that capture up to 15 unique camera views as well as an accessory camera attached to a trailer that allows drivers to behind what they’re towing.

GM was able to lower the HD diesel’s axle ratio from 3:71:1 to 3:42:1 to reduce engine speeds for a more silent, pleasant cabin. The all-new 10-speed coupled with stronger drivetrain components enabling diesel Silverado HDs to optimize their full amount of twist in first gear, unlike the prior models. Additional upgrades to the Silverado HD provide a new active two-speed four-wheel-drive transfer case that allows automatic all-wheel-drive function.

Additional Impressive Features

Chevy looked to improve many different facets of the Silverado HD. One of the latest changes involved adding a standard flush-mounted outlet in the front bumper for the engine-block heater for the diesel and available on the gasoline V8 powertrain. The diesel exhaust fluid tank between the frame rails includes a filler spout and a diesel exhaust fluid gauge in the instrument cluster. A polished interior gains all the power of the latest technology and will help Chevrolet Silverado owners step ahead of the competition.

Chevrolet Impala Production Extended

General Motors will continue to produce the Impala despite making plans to end its run; at least for a little while. The 2019 Chevrolet Impala large sedan was expected to see its production run through June 2019, but plans have been pushed back to January 2020. With seven additional months of making this vehicle, GM is hoping to finish off the demand this vehicle carries. The 2019 Chevy Impala carries upgraded and advanced technology features in safety technology like Forward Collision Alert. Let’s explore why GM will keep this vehicle running a little longer.

New Technology Sticking Around For A While Longer

The 2019 Chevrolet Impala provides a 2.5-Liter ECOTEC direct injected 4-cylinder engine that has stop/start technology and carries a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Part of the reason for that high rating is due to having 10 standard airbags for every trim. Aside from safe, the 2019 Chevrolet Impala is fast and sleek. Owners can opt for the 3.6-Liter direction injection V6 engine that offers 305 horsepower. The 2019 Impala represents a refined interior with owners gaining an 8-inch touchscreen, a nice size for drivers when using the Rear Vision Camera. The Premier trim offers Rear Cross Traffic Alert standard and Forward Collision Alert is available. Impala owners gain Apple Carplay and Android Auto with every trim. The technology offered in the Chevy Impala is a large reason General Motors will look to continue the large sedan’s production into next year.

GM Production Continues

As far as the production goes, there are plans to close the Detroit-Hamtramck plant in 2020. GM has said they notified all employees, dealers, and suppliers of the changes. This is one of potentially four factories in the United States that could close. The extension of the Chevrolet Impala makes sense as it still provides customers with quality. As pickup trucks and SUVs continue to grow in popularity, this is one vehicle that will remain on the market. General Motor expects to save about $6 billion in cash flow by the end of next year. Those generous savings will help to allow them to invest in future technologies like automation and electrification. To test-drive the latest Chevy vehicles, come to Miami Lakes Automall today and see for yourself why owning the 2019 Chevrolet Impala is a great choice.

Upcoming Silverado HD Will Pay For Electric Future

Chevrolet is thankful for the success of their all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. General Motors had an ace up its sleeve with their line-up of diesel model Silverados, their highly popular and awarded pickup. The good news is there’s more technology being added. In June, the latest refresh from the all-new 2019 Silverado is set to debut. The Silverado HD heavy-duty truck was already lighter, yet stronger than the previous generation, but Chevy will have their newest heavy-duty, the all-new 2020 Silverado HD, by mid-2019.

Chevrolet has gone even further to gain more with less with even greater fuel-efficiency. Known as simply the 2020 Silverado HD, it is a new product for Chevy. With so much focus on the pickup, they have seen good returns on the Silverado and that success will help fund the research GM has for their self-driving projects. Let’s find out how much Chevrolet has invested.

Outlook For 2019

General Motors (GM) pickup trucks combined for a total of $65 billion in annual revenue with the heavy-duty versions of the Silverado and GMC Sierra making up nearly 20 percent of GM’s full-size truck sales. The revised Silverado HD will have competition in 2019 when Ford’s Super Duty is revamped. With GM’s reported sales hitting 210,000 heavy-duty pickups in 2018, the figure is expected to rise in 2019. As sedan sales have trended downwards, it’s less profitable than previous years for American automakers to make them. The latest trucks have more technology included and are more advanced with better engineering than ever before.

“These vehicles have among the highest margins in the business. You have no tomorrow if you don’t sell these trucks today,” said Jeff Schuster, senior vice president of forecasting at LMC Automotive.

Success and Continued Growth

GM reported sales of 210,000 heavy-duty pickups last year as the hope is the upcoming new models will sell even more. GM gains roughly 2 billion dollars through these sales alone before taxes, so the goal going forward is to continue to produce as many new pickups and other light trucks. Despite trucks being more expensive to build, they expect to grow by 1,000 workers to help launch the latest heavy-duty trucks in Flint, Michigan.

General Motors is thrilled that these pickup trucks alone cover the $1 billion a year that the automaker places into its GM Cruise LLC self-driving unit. However, GM Cruise LLC  has yet to bring in revenue and has not yet begun its upcoming ride-hailing service, which set to debut in 2019. GM has an investment to solve the difficult problem of arranging a computer to operate a car. This problem is so costly that GM sold a piece of Cruise to SoftBank Vision Fund for $2.25 billion and another portion of the company to Honda Motor Co. for $2.75 billion. But they are looking to create this service to drive revenue even higher. This isn’t the first time they’ve put money into electric technology.

Electric Plans For Chevrolet

Back in 2016 the Chevy Bolt, GM’s latest electric car sold, lost nearly $9,000 per vehicle for the automaker. Chevy will take steps to ensure they don’t have that problem again. By 2022 the global auto industry as a whole will have spent $255 billion on electric vehicles and an additional $61 billion expanding self-drive technology, according to a report last year from consulting firm AlixPartners. There is no plan to sway GM from making electric vehicles, in fact they are doubling down on making new technology for us all to enjoy. Selling their pickups has netted GM over $9 billion annually and the future will showcase their latest innovations. For the latest Chevrolet pickups, head to Miami Lakes Automall today.

2019 Chevrolet Blazer Is Out to Change The Game

How does the current crossover SUV segment look? It’s a whole lot flashier now that the Chevrolet Blazer has returned to form with its latest incarnation. The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer has debuted and its ready for drivers. Looking for something to drive and enjoy that isn’t a sluggish SUV or bulky crossover? Don’t stray away from the latest Chevrolet product that has set itself apart from the pack. We’ll go over all the details, but keep in mind how the makers of the Blazer view their sharp new product.

“For the midsize two-row crossover customer, the business case was that they weren’t looking for body on frame. Same thing with off-roading — that’s not what this Blazer was ever going to be. There are a few things about it that you could call Camaro-esque. But our intent all along was to offer dry road performance, like a sports sedan. Some competitors have more emphasis on utility; this one has more emphasis on the sport,” said Blazer engineer Larry Mihalko.

Details of the Flashy New Blazer

The standard powertrain for the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer is the hearty 2.5-Liter Ecotec inline-four powertrain with a nine-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive in the base trim. The 3.6-Liter V6 Pentastar engine included in the Premier trim carries 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque and is the standard powertrain with the RS and Premier trim, and works as an available option for the L and Base.

The 2.5-Liter Ecotec inline-four engine provides drivers with 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque is standard for L and Base trim. The V6 engine also has front or all-wheel-drive options and all Blazer options carry high-performance cross-axis ball joints for greater lateral stiffness, according to Chevrolet. With a combined 29 mpg, the Chevrolet Blazer helps drivers by providing a reasonable fuel economy for owners.

Full of Features, Packed With Modern Technology

Additional features that make the Blazer worthwhile and modern is the hands-free power liftgate, wireless charging, and six USB ports. For owners that use their Blazer for towing, they can use the Hitch Guidance feature, which helps aid the aligning process for a driver to hitch a trailer with a view of the center line on the rear vision camera. The Hitch View provides a top-down view of the hitch so drivers can see just where the hitch ball rests. Drivers are going to love driving the Blazer today more than ever before. This is made easier thanks to the large 8-inch touchscreen. Available features include a rear-seat DVD player that is a part of an infotainment system that makes rides more fun for others.

This is a new product that differs from the previous Blazer that had a production run from 2001-2008. The all-new Blazer offers a 0-60 time of just 6.5 seconds with the 3.6-Liter V6 and starts at only $29,995 MSRP (plus destination fee). The Premier trim begins at $43,895 MSRP (plus destination fee.)

For those looking for a smaller SUV, the newest line-up offered by Chevrolet includes the Trax and Equinox. Drivers that want a little more space, but no sacrificing on behalf of the power, the Blazer is a perfect fit.

Quality Servicing And Repairs Done Right

Repair Miami Lakes Automall

When a vehicle needs to be repaired, would an owner be better served to take matters into their own hands or take the vehicle to a trusted service center? YouTube has millions of videos with tens of thousands of videos added every day, but those videos don’t carry the same experience and training that is applied to our service members. We’re sure to be able to handle much more than any videos can provide and in a timely manner., In most cases, we’ll have any vehicle returned to the owner in less time than if the owner attempted the repairs on their own.

Vehicles are machines that have many moving parts and require maintenance on a regular basis. Oil changes, replacing brake pads and car batteries are common issues, but we are certified to handle even the most difficult of maintenance or repairs. Let’s go over the various maintenance work and when to expect to come to our service center.

What Services Are Available?

Oil changes, which involves lube and a filter change, are a regular servicing task. We suggest to come in for oil changes every 3,000 miles. If full synthetic motor oil is used, this will provide up to 10,000 miles of use before replacement oil is needed. At the same time, tires should be rotated to make sure they wear evenly.

Looking for new tires or to patch a current one? We can guarantee you leave with the proper solution for nearly any vehicle. We also adjust tires to the proper tire pressure with every visit.

Battery service and replacement is normal as well, every two or three years. Let us test the battery and replace any battery that is testing low voltage. Nothing is worse than being stranded with a dead battery. We’ll properly dispose of any old battery.

Brake servicing requires proper attention to detail and we’ll make sure brakes are properly tended to. We advise a visual inspection of brake rotors and brake pads every 5,000 miles. We’ll examine brake lines and hoses at 15,000 miles through our multi-point inspection. At 30,000 miles we will measure each brake pad and disc. We have the proper training to know what to look for and how to address any issues. Don’t neglect brakes. Doing so can end up costing more than brake maintenance and even be dangerous.

Less Common Maintenance Work We Can Handle

Have an older vehicle? Just got new tires? Front end alignment is extremely important to ensure a vehicle goes on the right path and keeps tires from going bald. If you notice any tire is uneven or the vehicle veers to the left or right instead of moving straight, bring it in because we can correct that problem with a proper alignment.

Transmission repair and replacement is a service we handle as well. Whether the transmission requires an overhaul or replacement, we have the tools and knowledge to get it down.

Coolant replacement or flushes are necessary and should take place every 60,000 miles and flushed again after 30,000 miles and beyond that mark over the course of a vehicle’s lifetime. We will correctly dispose of the radiator fluid with a coolant replacement and keep a vehicle from overheating with a coolant flush.

2020 Silverado HD Miami Lakes

The pickup segment has become very popular in the last several years. There are compact pickups, mid-size and full-size pickups and lots of versatility within the truck choices customers have. What customers want is the ability to craft their perfect vehicle and have the ability to have accessibility to use their vehicle for many purposes; this is how the pickup industry has become more popular. Well, Chevrolet has been paying attention to their customers and the industry as a whole and will cater to drivers with five trims for their upcoming 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD.

The Silverado HD is their heavy-duty pickup that provides a solid choice for businesses and working drivers. There are multiple choices for a variety of drivers. The base model is the Work Truck (WT), followed by the Custom, LT, LTZ and finally the high-end High Country trim. With each level comes another level of technology and premium luxury added.

“Truck customers are very clear: They want the perfect truck for them and not a ‘one size fits most’ truck compromised for the masses. That insight shaped our strategy for the next-generation Silverado franchise, providing customers more differentiation between the Silverado 1500 and the Silverado HD as well as more personalization and differentiation between individual trim levels,” said Mike Simcoe, vice president of GM Global Design.

New For the 2020 Silverado HD

One thing that will come with every 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD is the bold, redesigned face that carries a different design than any pickup on the market. The 2020 Silverado HD is vastly different from the all-new 2019 Silverado 1500. With an available gas engine and the impressive Duramax turbo-diesel, the Silverado HD will be quite improved. The V8 will carry new trailer hauling technology with a big gooseneck flatbed trailer that is equipped with dual axles and dually wheels. New door-mounted large side towing mirrors are also in place to help to make towing easier. Higher towing and payload capabilities are expected for the latest Silverado HD, but for some reference, the 2019 Silverado 2500 HD has a towing capacity of 13,000 to 14,500 pounds, though the Silverado HD 1500 will not be expected to have as high a number. The latest heavy-duty Silverado pickup will hit stores in mid-2019 and orders will begin to be placed in the spring.

“We took into account every detail of what customers expect, and how they will use their truck. The results are unique versions of the Silverado HD equally at home working on a construction site or pulling a camping trailer,” Simcoe said.

Chevrolet Shifts Focus to Electric Vehicles

Miami Lakes Automall 2019 Bolt EV Charging

Well, there’s some interesting news going down over at Chevrolet, under the automotive umbrella of the General Motors group. If unawares, General Motors is starting to pick up their slack when it comes to getting on the bandwagon for zero emission propulsion and powertrains. With the upsurge of electrified and alternative fuel vehicles estimated in the coming years, GM is not one to fall behind, and with Chevrolet already having moderate success in alternative fuel with the Chevrolet Bolt EV, a large change is about to take place. Chevy will be shifting away from the Chevrolet Camaro to focus on electrified vehicles (EVs).

Competitor automotive group Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has already unveiled their plans for going electric with many vehicles already underway. To keep up, GM is making some decisive moves. Car and Driver were there to report on the newest announcement.

“Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer and spiritual leader of the Chevrolet Camaro program for more than a decade, is moving to General Motors’ newly formed AV/EV organization to focus on zero-emission-vehicle development.”

Chevrolet Announces 2020 Chevy Silverado HD

Miami Lakes Automall 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD

Jeez, it’s only been a few weeks since the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was showcased by the General Motors Corporation. With many trim levels for the 2019 model year and many powertrains, consumers could get a Silverado pickup truck designed for their needs and purposes. Around the same time, the Chevrolet Silverado was voted as “Truck of the Year” by editors and writers from AutoGuide who took the Chevy Silverado for a test drive. Well, Chevrolet must be listening to their consumers, because soon after they unveiled the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, the 2020 Chevy Silverado HD was announced to debut in February 2019.

For those keeping count, this is the third all-new Silverado model from Chevrolet in just 18 months. Being the HD model, not only is it a very capable pickup truck of the lineup, but the 2020 model is said to be the most capable and advanced Silverado HD ever. Just another Silverado model to appeal to the variety of Chevrolet customers…or is it?

Set to be built at the Flint Assembly plant in Flint, Michigan, the new Silverado HD will be starting off with a bolder body sculpted for the heavy-duty functionality it gets its name for. Although some may confuse it with the Silverado 1500, aside from the roof, every piece of sheet metal is exclusive to Silverado HD. Built from the ground-up, this assembly plant is going to have a lot of work to meet the standards of Chevrolet and Chevrolet consumers.

Miami Lakes Chevy 2017 PHEV EV Hybrid

Chevy has joined the evolving world of electric and hybrid vehicles, and they’re making a lot of noise with their awesome line up of hybrids, PHEVs, and EVs. Already out for the 2017 model year is the 2017 Chevy Volt, 2017 Chevy Malibu Hybrid, and soon-to-be-released, the all-electric Chevy Bolt EV. Check ‘em out.

2017 Chevy Bolt EV

For those not in the know, “EV” stands for electric vehicle, and the all-new 2017 Chevy Bolt is an all-electric zero emissions vehicle with quite the range. Chevy shocked everyone when they released specs on how far the Bolt can go. On a fully charged battery, the Bolt has a range of 238 miles, which is 25 more miles than the Tesla Model 3 is expected to get (when it is released). Additionally, the Bolt can charge about 25 miles for every hour of charging when using a 240-volt charger (the fast option).
