New Performance Features for Chevy Suburban with RST Performance Package

The Performance Package is available as an upgrade to the Tahoe

A lot of the available large three-row SUVs aren’t typically sought after for performance, but the new RST Performance Package that’s available on the Chevy Suburban is definitely that.

A lot of consumers don’t necessarily think of performance when they think of large passenger vehicles like the Chevy Suburban, but that’s not true of the Chevy Suburban when it is equipped with the new RST Performance Package.

The new RST Performance Package features a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The package also features Magnetic Ride Control with performance calibration. The addition of the new RST Performance Package comes after the success of the RST Performance was added to the Chevy Tahoe.

“The RST Performance Package made its debut on the Tahoe RST last spring, and the response from our customers was overwhelmingly positive,” said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevy Trucks Marketing and Advertising. “In fact, Tahoe RST with the Performance Package is the fastest-turning Tahoe model, and we’ve received customer requests to offer the same performance and power to Suburban RST. Delivering on those requests with the Suburban RST Performance Package is another example of how Chevrolet has continually invested in the segment, developing models with combinations of capability, technology and performance to meet the needs of different customers.”

Not only does the Chevy Suburban with the RST Performance Package offer a boost in power, but it’s still just as spacious and convenient as the Suburban always is. The Suburban is a great vehicle for families, tailgating, sports events and anyone who regularly needs a big vehicle to transport things. The Suburban offers spacious seating for up to seven or eight passengers depending on the seating configuration and the seats can all be easily folded down to make room for cargo when necessary.

Want to see what the Chevy Suburban with the RST Performance Package is like? Come by Miami Lakes Automall for a test drive today. We are open seven days a week and we have a huge selection of Chevrolet SUVs and trucks.

Fuel Savings of Chevy’s Hybrid, PHEV and EV Model

“Green” cars range from hybrids, to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) to electric vehicles (EVs), and each of those types of vehicles has different qualities that make them ideal for different buyers. Some of the biggest motivating factors for consumers that are looking for a new “green” vehicle is convenience, fuel consumption, fuel costs and greenhouse emissions, so we’re going to take a look at all of those factors and their individual numbers for three of Chevy’s “green” vehicles, the Chevy Malibu Hybrid, Chevy Bolt EV and Chevy Volt.

Chevy Malibu Hybrid

The Chevy Malibu Hybrid is a great option for consumers who want a car that is “greener” than vehicles that have a traditional internal combustion engine, but don’t have to worry about driving a new “type” of vehicle or having a decreased driving range. Hybrid vehicles use batteries that assist the internal combustion engine with some tasks, therefore the engine uses less gas, emits less greenhouse gases and is also a little more affordable to drive. But the tasks the battery is able to assist with are limited, so the reduction of CO2 emissions or savings in fuel costs of a hybrid aren’t as significant as those from a PHEV or EV.

The Chevy Malibu Hybrid is equipped with a 1.8-liter hybrid four-cylinder engine. The engine helps the Malibu Hybrid achieve a fuel economy of 49 mpg in the city, 43 mpg on the highway, and a combined city/highway fuel economy of 46 mpg. Since hybrid vehicles are very similar to non-hybrid vehicles, they have fuel tanks that are just as large non-hybrid vehicles, but since the vehicles have a better fuel economy, hybrid vehicles tend to have an incredible driving distance, and that’s definitely the case for the Malibu Hybrid. The Chevy Malibu Hybrid has a total driving distance of 598 miles on a full tank of gas.

The Chevy Malibu Hybrid is definitely a great choice for people looking to save money in fuel costs. estimates that the average driver spends about $900 per year in fuel costs and after five years of driving the Malibu Hybrid, the average driver will save about $3,250 in comparison to the average vehicle.

Chevy Malibu Hybrid Fuel Economy

49/43/46 city/highway/combined
598 miles of total driving range
Annual Fuel Costs: $900
Savings in Comparison to Average Vehicle After 5 Years: $3,250
Cost to Drive 25 Miles: $1.49

Chevy Volt

The Chevy Volt is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), and PHEVs are a popular choice among consumers because they significantly increase fuel savings and reduce CO2 emissions in comparison to hybrid and non-hybrid vehicles, and they don’t require a user to rely on electric power. PHEVs have both an internal combustion engine and a battery that is large enough to power the vehicle on its own. This makes it possible for the car to be driven on pure electricity, on gas or a combination of both. Though driving on pure electricity is ideal for most “green” drivers, the concern of some drivers is the time it takes to recharge the battery if it runs out of power, so having an internal combustion engine is a great feature.

The Chevy Volt is equipped with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and am 18.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. Since PHEVs can be powered by pure electricity for a significant distance, they have additional measurements of fuel economy, including MPGe, which stands for miles per gallon equivalent. They Chevy Volt’s internal combustion engine has a combined city/highway fuel economy of 42, which means that is the fuel economy of the vehicle when only powered by gas. When the Volt’s battery and engine are working together, the Chevy Volt has a combined fuel economy of 106 MPGe, and the Chevy Volt’s battery can power the vehicle for up to 53 miles without using a drop of gas. Finally, the Chevy Volt has a total driving distance of 420 miles, which means a fuel tank of gas and a fully-charged battery.

The Chevy Volt offers great savings in fuel economy. estimates the average driver spends about $700 in fuel costs per year, and in five years the average driver will save up to $4,250 in fuel costs in comparison to the average vehicle, which is $1,000 more than the Chevy Malibu Hybrid.

Chevy Volt Fuel Economy

Gas Engine: 42 MPG combined city/highway
Battery: 53 miles of total driving range
Hybrid Mode: 106 MPGe
420 miles of total driving range
Annual Fuel Costs: $700
Savings in comparison to average vehicle after 5 years: $4,250
Cost to drive 25 miles: $1.01 when powered by electricity and $1.64 when powered by gasoline

Chevy Bolt EV

Consumers looking for the greenest vehicle possible will want to opt for an electric vehicle like the Chevy Bolt EV. Electric vehicles don’t have an internal combustion engine because the battery powertrain is powerful enough to power the entire vehicle. The reliance on electricity results in great fuel savings and the vehicle doesn’t produce any tailpipe emissions ever — there’s not even an exhaust. However, some consumers are hesitant about fully switching over to an EV because they can’t travel as far as PHEVs, hybrids or non-hybrids when they have a fully-charged battery, but they do have enough power to handle the average daily commute.

The Chevy Bolt EV is equipped with a 60 kWh lithium-ion battery, and it gives the Chevy Bolt EV a total driving range of 238 miles, which is one of the largest driving ranges available. The Bolt EV’s fuel economy is only measured in MPGe and it has a combined city/highway fuel economy of 119 MPGe. estimates that the average driver will spend about $550 in fuel costs per year and after five years, the average driver will save $5,000 in fuel costs in comparison to the average vehicle.

Chevy Bolt EV Fuel Economy

Battery: 119 MPGe combined city/highway
238 miles of total driving range
Annual Fuel Costs: $550
Savings in comparison to average vehicle after 5 years: $5,000
Cost to drive 25 miles: $.92

CO2 Emissions

Buyers interested in a “green” vehicle for the sole purpose of reducing the amount of tailpipe emissions as well as their energy impact score will want to opt for an EV. EVs like the Chevy Bolt EV don’t emit any tailpipe emissions, and since they rely on electricity, which is generally provided by cleaner fuel sources than gasoline, they have a lower energy impact score.

Chevy Bolt

Tailpipe Emissions: 0
Energy Impact Score: .2 barrels (or 8.4 gallons) of petroleum per year. estimates the source of the petroleum is from U.S. resources.

Chevy Volt

Tailpipe Emissions: Average of 51 grams per mile — but when driven in EV mode, there are no tailpipe emissions
Energy Impact Score: 2 barrels (or 84 gallons) of petroleum per year. estimates the source of the petroleum is an even split between U.S. resources and imported resources.

Chevy Malibu Hybrid

Tailpipe Emissions: Average of 194 grams per mile
Energy Impact Score: 7.2 barrels (or 302.4 gallons) of petroleum per year. estimates the U.S. is the resource of 71% of the petroleum and imported resources supply about 28% of the petroleum.

Chevy Vehicles Now Available with New Amazon Key In-Car Delivery

Amazon packages can now be delivered to more than 7 million Chev

Automakers are always looking for a new way to improve their vehicles, and now more than ever they are doing that with tech. GM has partnered up with Amazon to offer a completely new service that uses tech to make life easier. The new service is called Amazon Key In-Car Delivery and it makes it possible for Amazon packages to be delivered inside of select Chevrolet, Buick, GM, and Cadillac vehicles.

How To Use the Service

Amazon Key In-Car Delivery is available in 37 U.S. cities and requires a user to be an Amazon Prime member, have an Amazon Key account, an active OnStar account and a GM vehicle that is 2015 or newer. To use the service, a user needs to download the Amazon Key App, sync it up with their OnStar account and register the delivery location. Once that is complete, users can opt for the in-car delivery option whenever they place an order.

How It Works

So how does the package get in the car? The courier uses satellite location tracking to locate the vehicle, and then they are able to wirelessly unlock the trunk and put the package inside.

Advantages of Amazon Key In-Car Delivery

The service is great for people that don’t like their packages waiting outside unattended. It’s also especially helpful for people that get items delivered while they are out of town for a few days because not only is the package kept in a secured area, it is also kept out of rain and other elements. The service also makes it easier for people to get deliveries and keep them hidden from other people in the household, which is nice for presents that are supposed to be a surprise.

“Partnering with Amazon to leverage our embedded in-vehicle connectivity gives Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac owners the option to conveniently receive deliveries inside their vehicle parked at home, work or near other locations in their Amazon address book,” said Alan Batey, President, General Motors North America. “This is another example of how we provide customers with technologies that add value and enhance the ownership experience.”

If you have a Chevy vehicle that is of the 2015 model year or newer and you want help setting up the service, come to Miami Lakes Automall, we’d be happy to help. If you don’t have a Chevy and you want to get a Chevy and benefit from all of their convenient technology options like Amazon Key In-Car Delivery, we can help with that, too. Miami Lakes Automall has a huge selection of Chevy models and we’re open seven days a week.

2018 is the 60th Anniversary of the Chevy Impala

1958 was the first model year of the Chevrolet Impala, and after 60 years of production, the Chevy Impala is still as impressive as it was in its first year of production.

Introduction of the Impala

The first generation of the Impala was actually called the Chevy Bel Air Impala and it was a limited edition model of the Chevy Bel Air that was created to celebrate General Motors’ (GM) 50th anniversary.

The Bel Air Impala had top-of-the-line features and an iconic exterior look. The 1958 Chevy Bel Air Impala was available with as a hardtop coupe or as a convertible coupe, and like all 1958 Chevy models, the vehicle had a wider, lower and longer exterior design. The 1958 Chevy Bel Air Impala didn’t have the tailfins of the 1957 Chevy Bel Air, instead it had sculpted rear fenders with dummy rear fender scoops. Other notable exterior features include three taillamps and dual headlamps, which was the first time that was seen on the Bel Air.

The standard engine on the 1958 Chevy Bel Air Impala was equipped with a 283-cubic-inch V8 engine, but there was also an available 348-cubic-inch V8 engine.

Impala Makes a Name for Itself

Production of the Chevy Bel Air Impala was extremely fruitful for Chevrolet and in 1959, Chevrolet actually turned the Impala into a new model, and the 1959 and 1960 model year Impala models are second-generation models. The 1959 Chevy Impala was available in four body styles, a convertible coupe, hardtop coupe, four-door hardtop or four-door sedan. The second generation design had pronounced tail fins and dual headlamps. 1959 Chevy Impala models had a unique teardrop taillight design, but 1960 Impala models had three round tail lamps. Engines included a 235-cubic-inch, 283-cubic-inch or 348-cubic-inch engine.

In 1961, Chevy introduced the third-generation Chevy Impala and it was fairly different from the second-generation design because it was based off GM’s B Platform, as opposed to GM’s A Platform, which was used for the Bel Air Impala and 1959-1960 Impala. The new B Platform was boxier and had a more streamlined exterior design. 1961 was the first year the iconic “Super Sport” option, a performance option, was available on the Impala lineup.

The third-generation Impala was produced from 1961-1964 and it included six body styles, a two-door coupe, two-door convertible, two-door hardtop, four-door hardtop, four-door sedan and four-door station wagon. Engine options included a 230-cubic-inch, 283-cubic-inch, 327-cubic-inch, 348-cubic-inch, 409 cubic-inch engines, and 1963 Impala models were available with a 427 cubic-inch engine. The 427-cubic-inch engine was specially designed for drag racers and NASCAR.

Chevy released the fourth-generation Impala in 1965, and production continued until 1970. In 1965 the Impala set an all-time industry annual sales record of 1,000,000 units in the U.S. In 1965 the Chevy Impala had a new frame that was smaller, and Chevy also introduced the Chevy Impala Caprice, and it had upgraded features as well as features seen on the SS models. The fourth-generation Impala models were available in the same six body styles, and there were 10 engine options. In 1970, Chevy ended production of the Impala SS.

From 1971-1976 Chevy produced the fifth-generation Chevy Impala. Fifth-generation models were available in six body styles, but the number of engine options decreased from 10 to five. In 1977, Chevy redesigned the Chevy Impala, and this became the sixth-generation Impala. Sixth-generation Impala models were smaller, and hardly recognizable in comparison to the original 1958 Bel Air Impala. Sixth-generation models were produced from 1977-1985, and after 1985, production of the Impala was put on pause.

The Impala went back into production in 1994 as the Chevy Impala SS. 1994 was the start of the seventh-generation models, and the Impala had a significantly different look, which is no surprise since it was almost a decade since the last Impala was produced. The seventh-generation Impala was equipped with a 5.7-liter engine and available in two body styles, a four-door sedan and four-door station wagon. In 1996, Chevy ended production of the seventh-generation Impala SS.

The eighth-generation Impala was produced from 2000-2005 and it looked significantly more modern than the previous generation design. Eighth generation models were only available with a sedan body, and there were two engine options, a 3.8-liter engine and a 3.4-liter engine. The eighth-generation Impala had a sleek front end design and a unique rear design that featured two seats of dual round tail lights.

2006 marked the beginning of the ninth-generation Impala design. Available from 2006-2016, ninth-generation Impala models were only available with a sedan body, however, Chevy increased the number of engine types to eight engines. The ninth-generation Impala had a completely redesigned front and rear.

Chevy Impala Today

Chevy introduced the tenth-generation Chevy Impala in 2014, and that is the same generation of the Impala models on the streets today (2018). The 2018 Chevy Impala is only available with one body style, which is a full-size sedan. The 2018 is available with two engines, a 3.6-liter engine and the 2.5-liter EcoTec3 engine. Tenth-generation Impala models have earned a number of awards including “2017 Best Large Car for the Money” from the U.S. News and World Report and “Best Full-Size Car” by Kelly Blue Book in 2017.

The Chevy Impala has gone through a number of changes, and today the Impala is a modern sedan that’s perfect for families and professionals.  You can search Chevy Impala inventory online at Miami Lakes Chevrolet. We have plenty of Chevy Impala models to choose from.

2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 Configurations, Engines and Trims

Consumers that are new to the truck world sometimes feel a little confused by all of the options. One way to narrow down the search for a new truck is by considering dependability, and considering that the Chevy Silverado was just named the Most Dependable in its class in the 2018 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study, that’s not a hard decision. However, even when the options have been narrowed down to the Chevy Silverado there are still a lot of decisions to make about their Silverado like which engine option, which trim and which drivetrain, do I want?

We’re here to try and make it easier for consumers to find out which 2018 Silverado 1500 truck options, and there are a lot of them,  will be best for their needs. The Chevy Silverado 1500 is available in six trims, with three engine options, two drivetrains (2WD or 4WD), three cab options and three truck bed lengths (short bed, standard bed or long bed). There are also several different packages available with various trims.

Cab Options and Truck Bed Lengths

The three available cabin sizes on the 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 are the two-door regular cab, four-door crew cab and four-door double cab, and the crew cab is the larger four-door option. The crew cab and double cab are available with five or six passenger seating, and that depends on the configuration of the front seats. Trucks with a a front bench seat provide seating for up to six passengers and trucks with two front bucket seats only provide seating for up to five passengers.

4.3L Engine

There are three engines available on the Silverado lineup. The smallest engine is the 4.3-liter V6 engine and it produces 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque and a maximum towing capacity of 7,600 pounds. The 4.3L engine gives the Chevy Silverado 1500 an average fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

5.3L Engine

A step up from the 4.3L engine is the 5.3-liter V8 engine, which generates 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The 5.3L engine gives the 2018 Silverado 1500 a max towing capacity of 11,100 pounds and a fuel economy of 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. In select states, Chevy offers the engine with eAssist technology, which adds a battery component into the powertrain to assist with certain engine tasks, and the battery component boosts torque and increases fuel economy. The 5.3L with eAssist technology has a fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

6.2L V8 Engine

The Chevy Silverado 1500 is also available with a 6.2-liter V8 that’s capable of producing 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The 6.2L increases the Chevy Silverado’s towing capacity to 12,500 pounds, which is a best-in-class towing capacity for V8 engines. When the Silverado 1500 is equipped with the 6.2L engine it has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.

Decisions are a little more difficult to make when it comes to deciding on which trim to get because the Silverado 1500 is available with a great selection of trims.

Silverado 1500 WT

The base trim is the WT or “Work Truck” trim and it is a no frills trim that is affordable and provides all of the essentials needed to get a job done. To make it easy for people to get the truck they need for business needs, the Silverado 1500 WT is available with three cab sizes and three truck bed lengths and it comes standard with the 4.3L V6 engine, but the 5.3L engine is an available upgrade. Like all Chevy trucks, the Silverado 1500 WT comes standard with GM’s signature CornerStep rear bumper, which is a textured step pad located on both sides of the truck bed, and it makes it easier for people to get in and out of the truck bed. The Silverado 1500 WT also comes standard with solar-absorbing glass, cab-mounted cargo area lamps, daytime running lights and 17-inch steel wheels.

Even though the Silverado 1500 WT is the base trim, Chevy still believes in the importance of equipping their vehicle with modern tech features, so the Silverado 1500 WT comes standard with a 7-inch color touch screen, Bluetooth, a six-speaker audio system and Chevy MyLink, which is Chevy’s name brand infotainment system. Since the Silverado 1500 WT is built for business and work, the crew cab and double cab configurations have a 40/20/40 front split-bench seat, so there is room for six passengers, which is helpful on days where an extra person is needed at the job site. The Silverado 1500 WT is equipped with a rubberized vinyl floor covering, which protects the floor from dirt and is also easy to clean.

Silverado 1500 LS/ LT

The Silverado 1500 LS and LT trims are a step above the Silverado 1500 WT, so it has some additional standard features, but it comes standard with the 4.3L V6 engine and the 5.3L V8 engine is an available option. The Silverado 1500 LS and LT trims are available in all three cab sizes and with all three truck beds, however, the LT is available as the 1LT or 2LT (also referred to as LT L71) and 2LT trims are only available with 4WD, but 1LT trims are available with 2WD or 4WD. Like the Silverado WT, the Silverado LS is equipped with Chevy MyLink, a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth and a six-speaker system, however it also features remote keyless entry, a feature that is not available on the Silverado 1500 WT. The Silverado LT is equipped with a larger 8-inch touchscreen. For maximum seating options, the Silverado 1500 LS and LT features the same 40/20/40 front split-bench seat that provides seating for up to six passengers.

The exterior of the Silverado LS and LT includes the CornerStep bumpers, and it has chrome front and rear bumpers, which is an upgrade in comparison to the black front and rear bumpers that are on the Silverado 1500 WT. The Silverado 1500 LT is equipped with 17-inch bright machined aluminum wheels and the Silverado LS has 17-inch stainless-steel clad wheels.

Silverado 1500 Custom

Chevy Debuts New Commercial-Duty Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, 6500HD

Chevrolet Unveils the 2019 Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD a

As Chevy said they’d do, Chevy debuted the new Chevy Silverado medium-duty truck at the Work Truck Show in early March, but Chevy kept a secret until its debut. Originally the new medium-duty Silverado lineup was only going to include the Class 4 (Silverado 4500HD) and Class 5 (Silverado 550HD) truck, but now we know that Chevy will also make a Class 6 (Silverado 6500 HD) truck as well.

Chevy’s expansion into medium-duty trucks is not entirely new for the automaker. Before 2009 Chevy offered medium-duty trucks, but they paused production on that until now, and Chevy intends to come back strong, and competitors like Ford and Ram will definitely have new competition.

According to an article published by Automotive News, “GM executives, however, believe the Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD are differentiated enough from the competition to eventually gain upward of a 25 to 30 percent share of the medium-duty truck segment, matching pre-bankruptcy levels.”

The inspiration behind the design of the new trucks came from listening to the needs and wants of the people that will be using and working with the trucks, including fleet managers, truck drivers, upfitters, technicians and Chevrolet dealers.

The new Silverado 4500HD, Silverado 550HD and Silverado 6500HD will be equipped with a  6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine that produces 350 horsepower and 700 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine will be paired to an Allison transmission with a Power Take Off (PTO) option and the trucks will be available in two-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive.

“When you consider all of the flexibility, capability and durability we have engineered into the Silverado, along with the proven power of Allison transmissions and the Duramax diesel engine, we have a medium duty truck line that will appeal to both Chevrolet loyalists and competitive owners alike,” said John Schwegman, director of Commercial Product and Medium Duty at GM Fleet.

In addition to offering solutions to problems dealers and drivers have experienced with other commercial trucks, Chevy has also made technology a big focus. The new commercial Silverado trucks will be available with OnStar and Commercial Link, a built-in 4GLTE Wi-Fi hotspot (paid data plan required), wireless cellphone charging, Bluetooth and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Chevy says production of the new fleet will begin in late 2018 and pricing will be announced this summer.
