What to Expect From the 2024 Chevy Trax

The 2024 Chevy Trax will arrive in the spring of 2023 with a new redesign. Although Chevrolet initially discontinued it, the automaker has decided to bring the compact crossover SUV back to the market. Inspired by the Chevy Blazer, the Chevy Trax will serve as an affordable SUV that is both practical and efficient. It will feature a larger interior cabin and will receive new features. As of late, Chevrolet has been focused on its EV lineup. Despite this, the automaker has continued to expand its combustion engine lineup. Chevrolet will offer the all-new Chevy Trax with several trims so consumers will have a variety of options to choose from. Although not all the details have been released, we’ll take a look at the 2024 Chevy Trax and see what we can expect.

2024 Chevy Trax Will Arrive In The Spring

The all-new Chevy Trax will arrive in the spring of 2023. After initially being discontinued, Chevrolet has decided to bring the compact crossover SUV to markets. As a compact crossover SUV, the 2024 Chevy Trax serves as an affordable and practical vehicle. The Trax features a turbocharged 1.2L three-cylinder engine that delivers 137 horsepower. It pairs with a 6-speed automatic transmission and utilizes front-wheel drive. While fuel economy has not been estimated yet, since the Trax shares a platform with the Chevy Trailblazer, it’s likely the SUV will likely get around 29 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

As for the new changes made to the Chevy Trax, Chevrolet will feature a longer wheelbase and more standard features. Thanks to the longer wheelbase, the interior cabin will have more rear legroom and cargo capacity. The compact SUV also features a redesigned interior with an 11-inch infotainment screen and an 8-inch gauge cluster. Owners can make use of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and there are safety features like automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warnings, and adaptive cruise control. 

The 2024 Trax now features five different trim levels: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ. Each offers additional features like those mentioned above. With the compact crossover, Chevrolet will be using a port consensus model which means the automaker will build the vehicle based on current constraints. Chevrolet will choose certain trims and configurations before sending them to ports. Dealers will then have the option to choose which available vehicle they’d like to offer. Since this is different from the traditional consensus model, those interested in the 2024 Chevy Trax will have to make sure they notify dealerships about the specific SUV they would like. For now, we’ll be staying tuned for more information but the compact SUV should arrive in the spring of 2023.

Chevrolet Literally Pays It Forward To 2022 HBCU Marketing And Journalism Interns

This month, Chevrolet and the National Newspaper Publishers Association completed their sixth year of “Discover the Unexpected.” This is a ten-week internship and scholarship program for 11 HBCU students, five involved in marketing and six with journalism. The program is meant for these individuals to delve into marketing roles centered on General Motors’ vision for a fully-electric future and journalism with the NNPA organization.

“Chevrolet is honored to continue our partnership with the NNPA for DTU, providing HBCU students professional and personal growth opportunities,” said Steve Majoros, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “The fellows made an impact on our Chevy Marketing team as they navigated new experiences – including working with large corporations, virtual work environments and time management skills – and learned how to effectively convey the benefits of EVs to their local communities, all while exemplifying professionalism and passion.”

On a national level, NNPA publishers also facilitated the activities for the six journalism majors this summer. These individuals were presented with print, broadcast, digital, and photojournalism skills, together with experiencing the Chevrolet Bolt EUV in person.

“The NNPA and Chevrolet partnership has been and continues to be extremely productive supporting aspiring journalists and amplifying their voices” said NNPA President and CEO Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis Jr. “Students worked alongside our renowned publishers for an in-depth experience while understanding how to bridge the gap between traditional and new-age journalism, and we cannot wait to see how their stories change EV myths within their communities.”  

During the course of the program, students were able to build content and enticing stories related to the Chevy Bolt EUV, electrification, and EV adoption, enabling them to serve agents of change within their local communities.

Antonio Andrews, a fellow 2022 DTU student, said he applied to the program because he wanted to work with electric vehicles. “The automotive industry is undergoing its largest transition since inception,” he stated. “To be able to give insight and have access to new and innovative concepts is a dream come true.”

The 2022 DTU program was expanded by significant industry mentors and reputable alums. Terrance J, American actor, model, and entertainer, who is a program ambassador, marshaled the students in New Orleans as they engaged in The Big Easy Bolt Race. This is a systematized team ride-and-drive scavenger hunt to understand more about electrification on top of Black history and New Orleans culture.

“As a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University with a mass communication degree, I understand the passion and enthusiasm that HBCU students bring to the table,” said Jenkins. “I was elated to work alongside these students and provide an opportunity to connect and motivate each of them into their future careers.”

Justin Shaifer, TV host, producer, and STEM advocate returned to DTU as the fellows’ mentor for the second year, encouraging students to “take what you’re asked to do and go above and beyond to operate with excellence at every step” during the program’s closing ceremonies in Detroit. He continued, “This is a phenomenal program, and it was an honor to be a part of these incredible young professionals.”

Emmanuel Dorvil, a former DTU fellow and current DMAX group leader explained while musing on the DTU program that the college venture equipped him for his career at General Motors, “My foot was on the gas pedal for my career. I had to ensure I was always prepared, whether it involved vehicle releases or increasing multicultural diversity with EV consumption. The exposure of this program sets you apart – the ability to connect with others is what we need as aspiring young professionals.”

Chevrolet gifted each of these students with a $10,000 scholarship and a $5,000 stipend. Thus far, DTU has awarded 49 HBCU students over $600,000.

The light-duty pickup truck also received an upgrade to its interior cabin thereby raising its status within the truck segment. These include a 2.7L turbo high-output, a 5.3L EcoTec V8, a 6.2L EcoTec V8, and a Duramax 3.0L turbo-diesel. The 2.7L delivers 310 horsepower and 430lb-ft of torque. The 5.3L delivers 355 horsepower and 383lb-ft of torque while the 6.2L offers 420 horsepower and 460lb-ft of torque. Finally, the 3.0L delivers 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The 2023 Chevrolet Equinox Gets High Praise From Consumer Reports

Consumer Reports

The Chevy Equinox crossover isn’t just a best-selling utility vehicle of the company; it’s also the bow-tie brand’s second best-selling vehicle before the Silverado truck. Recently, the non-profit product testing site, Consumer Reports, has given the 2023 Chevy Equinox a “recommended” rating.

This rating comes from a few different tests:

  • Road test rating – 77/100
  • Owner satisfaction rating – 3/5
  • Predicated reliability rating – 3/5

These three categories created an overall score of 67 out of 100 points.

For the performance category, Consumer Reports gave the Equinox compact a 4/5 for transmission and braking and a 3/5 for acceleration and emergency handling. The formerly named Consumers Union noted that the SUV offered good road manners, though they felt that the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine seemed to lack refinement.

Concerning Owner Satisfaction, owners rated the driving experience as 68/100. Comfort received 64/100, while value got 56/100.

As for reliability, the Equinox SUV received a score of 46/100. Considering other vehicles in its class, this puts the vehicle near the bottom half, smothering competitors like the Ford Escape Hybrid and Tesla Model Y with scores of 42/100 and 38/100, respectively.

All in all, Chevrolet performed well in Consumer Reports’ latest rankings. On top of the Equinox, four other 2023 Chevy models obtained a recommended rating, including the Chevy C8 Corvette, Chevy Blazer, Chevy Trailblazer, and Chevy Traverse.

It’s worth noting that the newest Chevy Equinox received its most significant update by implementing the formerly mentioned LSD engine. The all-new powertrain has an output of 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque, swapping out the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine. Heedless of the new powertrain, the company’s same 6–speed automatic transmission found in previous model years of the crossover acts as the only transmission option.

Regarding the structure, the Chevy Equinox journeys on the parent company, General Motor’s D2 platform. Production started on August 22nd at the GM San Luis Potosí plant and the GM Ramos Arizpe plant.

All-New 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray Discovered in Leak

The all-new 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray was recently discovered in a leak. Discovered by a MidEngineCorvetteForum member, the Corvette E-Ray was spotted while the member was playing with the configurator tool. While no performance standards were uncovered, it confirmed that the Corvette E-Ray would be coming to markets and that the sports car would be a hybrid. A company representative of Corvette Blogger further confirmed the leak by stating that Corvette fans should remain patient. Chevrolet has stated that two new sports cars were on the way, so the E-Ray is most likely one of them. The automaker has also been focused on its EV lineup, so it makes sense that the E-Ray would be a hybrid. We’ll take a closer look at the 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray and see what consumers can expect.

2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray Confirmed

The 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray was recently discovered thanks to a MidEngineCorvetteForum member. The member stumbled upon the hybrid sports car while using the Corvette configurator. Although no performance standards were revealed, it still proves that the E-Ray is alive and on its way. A Corvette Blogger representative further confirmed this, who stated that Corvette fans should stay tuned for more. The screenshots from the forum member indicate that the hybrid sports car should arrive in the summer of 2023. The 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray should also come with several paint options: Cacti, Riptide Blue, and Sea-Wolf Gray.

The discovery of the Corvette E-Ray is excellent news. While Chevrolet may have wanted to host a more grandiose reveal, the cat is out of the bag. General Motors president Mark Reuss recently stated that two new Chevy sports cars were on the way. One has been said to be a new version of the Corvette C8, while the other was left unclear. Thankfully, this latest leak has confirmed that the next sports car to arrive from Chevy will be the Corvette E-Ray. Looking at the screenshot, the sports car appears to have a similar body style to the Z06 but with wider hips. It also features quad exhausts, further indicating it will be a hybrid.

Based on the leaked screenshot, the 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray also appears to have a button on the left of the center console indicating that the sports car will feature a regenerative braking system. Hybrids and EVs typically utilize this system to harvest energy that would be lost while braking. The system then puts that energy back into the battery. The sports car also has a button for start/stop technology which will help improve the engine’s efficiency. The E-Ray does not appear to have a charging port, which means it will not be a plug-in hybrid. Overall, it’s good news to have the hybrid 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray confirmed. Consumers can expect an all-electric sports car to arrive soon, but we can focus on the Corvette E-Ray.

A Chevy Malibu EV Sedan?

This past decade, we’ve seen a significant surge in the popularity of SUVs and crossovers, ultimately leading to the slow downfall of Chevrolet’s previous fan-favorite, the Malibu sedan. For the past few years, this mid-sizer has been showing its age regarding its gradual fade into obscurity. However, all hope is not lost because there is the future of the Malibu car; according to General Motors president Mark Reuss, the automaker will have another electric revamp. During a recent Investor Day presentation in China, Reuss revealed that Chevrolet is toling with a “low-roof” EV that will have sedan-like proportions.

The upcoming electric sedan has just moved into the early stages of development. Still, according to Reuss, the design is quite “dramatic,” saying that the EV will take up the same mid-size segment as the current-gen Malibu. This possible successor has already been approved for the Chinese market, as sedans are still a hot commodity there, but the company may eventually offer this car in North America. Reuss seemed to entertain the thought of the EV’s availability in the U.S., saying at the function, “… we’ll see the desirability as we clinic this.”

Chevrolet recently introduced an electric sedan concept in China dubbed the FNR-XE. Its design gives us a taste of the EV that Reuss suggested. On top of this, the concept is derived from the Ultium battery platform. The overall shape resembles the Honda e:N2 concept, which was revealed for China last month. Honda and GM are already joining forces for the electric crossovers, with the Chevy Blazer EV and Honda Prologue acting as bunkmates for the same platform.

GM introduced four new EV models derived from the platform, but the other three that have been introduced include the Cadillac Lyriq, GMC Hummer EV, and the Buick Electra-X.

GM said at the function:

“From fuel to electric, from horsepower to computing power, new technology has become a new engine to drive the upgrading of automobile products and promote the leapfrog development of the automobile industry.”

The Malibu’s possible fully-electrified successor will be introduced to the Chinese market toward the end of 2024. Therefore, if GM decided to bring it to the U.S., it likely wouldn’t begin until at least 2025.

While various customers have been captivated by SUVs in recent years, the Malibu sedan still represents a good chunk of Chevy’s sales. After seeing a significant decline in 2021, specifically a drop of 102,651 units in 2020 to just 39,376 units, the Malibu bounced back this year, with nearly 80,000 units sold through the third quarter.

While there is still a market for sedans in North America, an electric version of the Malibu may be what the company needs to bring a full-on resurgence to the car, especially as we shy away from gas-powered vehicles.

The 2024 Chevrolet Montana is finally here. After being teased for several months, the unibody compact pickup truck will make its way to Brazilian markets. Chevrolet unveiled the 2024 Montana during a special broadcast on the Chevrolet Brasil YouTube channel. There, the automaker highlighted its strategy for the compact pickup truck and some of its features and capabilities. As of late, the automaker has been focused on its electric lineup. EVs like the Chevy Silverado EV and Colorado EV have been priorities, but this doesn’t mean Chevy isn’t showing love for its combustion engine vehicles. As the latest gasoline vehicle to debut, the 2024 Chevy Montana offers impressive capability and versatility. We’ll take a closer look at the compact truck and see what consumers can expect. 

What to Expect From the 2024 Chevy Montana

The all-new 2024 Chevy Montana has officially debuted. Revealed on the Chevrolet Brasil YouTube channel, the unibody compact pickup truck was highlighted as an innovative concept that combines utility and versatility. Riding on a variant of the GEM platform, the 2024 Montana features a crew-cab body configuration with a Chevy-Blazer-inspired front end. The pickup also features black plastic cladding on its lower body, roof rails, and a sports bar above the bed. The multi-flex cargo bed offers 30.87 cubic feet of space and has an advanced tonneau cover sealing system that provides waterproof protection. About the Chevy Montana, GM South America president and CEO Santiago Chamorro said, 

“This innovative concept from new Montana fits perfectly with the new habits, values, and needs of the consumer, who seeks a healthier lifestyle, with better harmony between work and leisure, with more productivity and satisfaction,” said President and CEO of GM South America, Santiago Chamorro, in an official press release. “Only such a multifunctional and disruptive car could deliver all this with quality and prestige,” he added.

The 2024 Montana arrives with a 1.2L turbocharged engine that delivers 133 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. This engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an automatic. The compact pickup truck also features a forward-wheel drive setup. Those interested in the 2024 Chevy Montana will be happy to know the pickup has entered a special pre-sale period. It will arrive at Chevrolet dealers in Brazil in February 2023. While the Montana will be built at the General Motors Brazil plant, it will also be offered in other South American countries.

Longevity In The Chevy Suburban

When it comes to discussions regarding the longevity of a vehicle, it’s nearly impossible not to involve the Chevrolet Suburban in the conversation. Currently, this full-size SUV is in its 12th generation, as it’s been cruising the streets since 1935. Today, this vehicle has served as one of the longest-lasting automobiles on the market.

According to a study conducted by iSeeCars, the Suburban SUV is ranked third on the list of 20 cars, with the greatest lifespan and potential mileage of 265,732 miles or more. The only vehicles with higher potential longevity belong to Toyota, like the Sequoia, ranking at the top with a possible mileage of nearly 300,000 miles.

The Chevy Suburban ranked higher than other vehicles on the list, such as Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Cadillac Escalade ESV.

To gather data for this study, iSeeCars assessed over two million vehicles sold within ten years in the past 20 model years and then ranked the models by the example of their highest-achieving mileage. All the ranked vehicles had a minimum of two percent of units exceeding 200,000 miles, while the elite one percent of the cars journeyed between 230,000 and just below 300,000 miles over the past two decades.

“What we see is a list of highly-durable vehicles, capable of more than a quarter-million miles of use if properly maintained,” said Karl Brauer, iSeeCars Executive Analyst. “And to be clear, this study isn’t reporting the maximum lifespan of these vehicles. This is simply a measure of current odometer readings. Most of these cars are still in use and going strong.”

With relevance to the foundation of this reliable SUV, the current 2023 Chevrolet Suburban has three available powertrain options. These motors involve the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 with an output of 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine producing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, which pushes out 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Underneath the hood, the latest Suburban SUV, along with the 2023 Chevy Tahoe, tags along the GM T1 platform, while production takes its form at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

The 2023 Chevrolet Suburban also has plenty of in-car features to enjoy, such as an 8-inch touchscreen, with an infotainment system that includes wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Wi-Fi, satellite radio, Bluetooth, five USB-A ports, and one USB-C port. It also has helpful driver assist features like forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance, automatic high beams, and a following-distance indicator.

The 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV was recently awarded J.D. Power’s 2023 ALG Residual Value Award. Operating as a data analytics and consumer intelligence company, J.D. Power conducts studies to determine the best vehicles in various segments. For its 2023 ALG Residual Value Award, the 2023 Bolt EV was among several recipients chosen for its high resale value. As an EV, the Chevy Bolt proves to be highly efficient and versatile. Its affordability also makes the all-electric hatchback a favorable choice for those just getting into the EV segment. While Chevrolet has been busy working on new EVs like the 2024 Silverado EV and the 2026 Colorado EV, its current EV lineup continues to be competitive. 2023 Chevy Bolt EV Offers Great Resale Value

The 2023 Chevy Bolt EV was recently awarded the 2023 ALG Residual Value Award by J.D. Power. As a data analytics company, J.D. Power has served as a key figure in the automotive industry for its reliable consumer research. The consumer intelligence company releases annual surveys and reports that help consumers determine the best-valued vehicles. One of its recent reports was the 2023 ALG Residual Value Award. This award is determined by using an extensive process that utilizes used-vehicle performance data, brand outlook, and product competitiveness. Chevrolet was 1 of 13 brands that were considered for the award. Altogether 291 vehicles were analyzed. Of them, the Chevy Bolt EV and Chevy Silverado were selected.

The 2023 Chevy Bolt EV arrives with similar performance standards as the previous year, but Chevrolet has significantly reduced the price of the electric hatchback. Starting at an MSRP of $25,600 (plus destination fee), the 2023 Bolt EV offers impressive capability and efficiency all at an affordable cost. The hatchback features an electric motor that’s capable of 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. This motor sends power to the front wheels and provides the hatchback with quick acceleration. The Bolt EV is able to go from 0-60 mph in just 6.5 seconds. This, combined with an engaging sport mode, provides drivers with a dynamic driving experience.

In its analysis, J.D. Power included various trims across the different brands it considered. The analytics company used averages in its study that were based on percentage share compared to the entire brand lineup. This helped differentiate the differences between trims. The 2023 Chevy Bolt EV offers two different trims, the 1LT and 2LT. The 2LT offers owners a higher level of quality with more luxury features, but it does not improve overall performance or efficiency. Still, given its affordability and efficiency, the electric hatchback proves to be a reliable EV with strong resale value.
