2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer Earns Top Safety Pick+ Rating from IIHS

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer was recently awarded the Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The compact crossover SUV has been a fairly popular choice for many SUV fans. Its affordable price and reliable handling make it an excellent choice. The spacious interior and stylish exterior also earn it points. The inclusion of Chevrolet’s latest safety package, Chevy Safety Assist, has raised the standards of the Chevy Trailblazer. With this safety package and additional safety features, the 2022 Trailblazer managed to pass the IIHS’s safety tests with a good or acceptable rating across all trims. Most vehicles manage to receive a Top Safety Pick award but to attain a Top Safety Pick+ award, the vehicle must have a positive evaluation across all its trims. The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer did exactly that.

2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer Passes IIHS Tests With Top Ratings

The 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer underwent several tests and inspections to obtain the Top Safety Pick+ award. These included side, driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, roof strength, and head restraint tests. Alongside all these tests, the Trailblazer underwent a test of its front crash prevention system. The Chevy Safety Assist package includes all these safety metrics, so it’s no wonder the Trailblazer did as well as it did. One last measure for the safety tests is the headlights. These were evaluated as acceptable and good.

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer hit all the marks of the IIHS safety tests. The Chevy Safety Assist package was responsible. Chevrolet recently updated its safety package to include more features and alerts. Some of these include automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision alerts, front pedestrian braking, lane-departure warnings, and automatic Intellibeam high beams. Depending on trim level, the Trailblazer may have additional safety features. These might include an HD rear vision camera, lane change and side blind zone alerts, rear cross-traffic alerts, rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, and OnStar safety and security coverage.

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer also earned a top five-star crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This comes after the compact SUV’s previous four-star crash rating. The current higher rating was due to Chevrolet’s Safety Assist. The package improved the Trailblazer’s safety standards with hardware and software updates. These all proved to be very beneficial given the 2022 Trailblazer’s safety ratings and evaluations. The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer starts at $21,600 MSRP (plus destination fee). With its stylish exterior, comfortable handling, and top-notch safety ratings it’s a choice to consider.

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado Brings On A Larger Screen Among Several Features

The 2022 Silverado Get’s A New 13.4-inch Interior Screen

The 2022 Chevy Silverado pickup truck has been refashioned in more ways than one. The new kid in town brings a slew of changes and advancements over its 2021 predecessor and the 2022 Silverado Limited trim. The highlighting feature among these improvements is an interior design that has been reworked from top to bottom and involves a new 13.4-inch infotainment screen.

This standard new and larger infotainment technology is geared on 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 models, like the LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ, and High Country. The 13.4-inch gadget is set to come our way and act as a replacement for the 8-inch screen previously featured on the 2019’s to the interim period of 2022’s Limited models. The new and exciting interior setup also involves wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, together with built-in tech features from Google, like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play.

As you can see from the picture below, the larger front-row screen expands horizontally across the dashboard and is split in half, with the left side of the display dominated by virtual user interface buttons, and the right encompassing features regarding the directions and map. Additionally, there is a physical Home button that sits at the left of the volume knob, along with a set of USB ports (also involving one USB-C port) in the center of the stack located to the right of the climate controls.

On its own, the screen is fixed with a “floating” design that carries it out of the center stack, while also implementing an air vent by the left side of the driver’s seat, as well as a storage bin above and in the back of the screen.

For the time being, there hasn’t been anything announced for other models, like the WT, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss. One should know that these trims have been previously geared as a standard with a 7-inch screen for the 2022-interim Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited.

Surplus updates that you’ll find noteworthy for this upcoming 2022 revamped model year include a new 12.3-inch configurable instrument cluster, which is geared as standard on all restyled 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 models furnished with the tuned up interior design. Furthermore, buyers will have access to General Motor’s semi-autonomous Super Cruise driver-assist system, found on the High Country trim level. This particular model will come with assisted trailering capabilities and the luxury that you’ll already come to know and love.

GM Defense Wins Contract to Build Super Suburbans

General Motors just received a big win. The automaker has been making headlines recently with its rollout of all-new vehicles like the Chevy Silverado ZR2 and the all-electric Chevy Silverado. Now the automaker is making more news as its subsidiary GM Defense takes on a new $36.4 million contract from the state department. This contract dictates that GM Defense will create heavy-duty Suburbans for the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS). Federal law enforcement and security departments will make use of the tough defense-oriented vehicles. This is huge news as the automaker will work to produce 10 of the super SUVs and eventually more should the project go well.

GM Defense to Produce Super Suburban

GM Defense, a subsidiary of General Motors, will start work on heavy-duty Suburbans in the spring of 2022. The subsidiary company was only recently formed in 2017, but it has already made quite a lot of headway. In 2020, the United States Army awarded GM Defense its first contract worth $214.3 million. This contract was to build Infantry Squad Vehicles (ISV) which would be based on the 2020 Chevrolet ZR2 pickup. These ISVs were designed for rapid ground mobility and are capable of carrying a nine-soldier infantry squad. Now the GM Defense subsidiary is working toward another contract. About this new project, the president of GM Defense Steve duMont said,

“Our development contract win speaks to our long-standing legacy of exceeding transportation capabilities and our new, HD Suburban will deliver government-specific advanced mobility solutions to meet the needs of DSS,” said Steve duMont, president of GM Defense.

GM Defense will use GM’s commercial vehicle architecture to design the new Suburbans for the DSS. The architecture will provide the framework for the body, exterior, interior, and brakes of the government-issue Suburbans. The new Suburbans will feature a unique body-on-frame chassis and suspension. These vehicles will utilize the latest in technology and manufacturing to ensure the government vehicles will have increased performance and greater ground weight. When producing vehicles for the state defense department, a certain level of detail is expected compared to commercial vehicles. It’s expected that GM Defense will aim to make the toughest and most capable vehicles for the department.

The GM Defense factory is located in Concord, North Carolina. The subsidiary delivered its first Infantry Squad Vehicle in October of 2020. It will continue to produce these ISVs as well as the new heavy-duty Suburbans. GM has landed on a great opportunity here so be on the lookout for these heavy-duty vehicles as well as the ISVs.

GM to Debut All-New Off-Road Chevrolet Silverado ZR2

General Motors (GM) is getting ready to show off its latest pickup, the all-new off-road 2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2. This release comes in the midst of a global transition to electric vehicles. Most automakers have been aiming to produce their own version of an electric vehicle. GM has been teasing the all-electric Chevy Silverado and rumors have been spreading about a potential electric Camaro. With the all-new off-road 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2, GM is hoping to ramp up excitement and anticipation for its future lineup. The debut of a fully electric pickup has garnered the most interest, but GM has been sure to keep any information under wraps. For now, the automaker is providing updates and adding new features to its current lineup. Until more information is released about other vehicles, we’ll have to stick to pure speculation. The automaker has released details about the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 however, so we’ll dive into the new updates.

All-New Off-Road 2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2

GM unveiled the all-new off-road 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 ahead of the NFL’S first game of the season between the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. GM has enjoyed a lot of interest recently for its Silverado lineup, but this move to reach the greatest number of eyes was solid. According to the director of Chevrolet marketing Kelly MacDonald, about 60% of Silverado sales have been off-road-focused pickups. With so much interest in off-road capable pickups, it’s no wonder GM is updating its lineup.

The all-new off-road 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 will be getting a new exterior design and several new features and technologies. GM will update the pickup’s exterior with slimmer headlights and a refreshed grille. These will help display the brand’s logo more prominently. The new designs are similar to those of the updated 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, both of which share the same platform as the Silverado. Inside the Chevy Silverado ZR2, consumers will note more technologies such as an e-shifter. A larger infotainment screen and heads-up display will also accompany the new pickup.

The last addition to the all-new Chevy Silverado ZR2 will be safety and driver-assist features. These will consist of lane-keep assist, lane departure alerts, forward collision alerts, and automatic emergency braking. GM will also be including its new Super Cruise hands-free highway driving system. This new system will use sensors, radars, and cameras to help drivers better navigate the road. Pricing for the all-new off-road 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 has not been determined yet, however, the starting price for the Silverado lineup ranges from $30,000 to $60,000 MSRP (plus destination fee). The new pickup will most likely fall between these prices. Off-road pickups offer the function of a pickup with the versatility of an off-roader. GM is providing consumers with the best of both worlds. Consumers will be happy to see GM expanding and updating its lineup.

The 2022 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban Set The Standard For Full-Size SUVs

New Features For 2022

As with many automakers, the Chevrolet company performed a few nips and tucks on their new vehicles, particularly the upcoming Tahoe SUV and its extended Suburban sibling. Improvements that have been made the inside (all but base LS model) include a new 12-inch digital gauge display fenced in by a conventional analog tacho- and speedometer. These trims also receive a standard navigation system from the 10.2-inch central infotainment touchscreen. Additional standard features include Lane-Keeping Assist and parking sensors. At the same time, Reverse Automatic Braking is included in the high-ranking trims’ Enhanced Display and Alert package. Lastly, the 6.2-liter V8 option stretches to the ZR1, RST and Premier models, but with the exclusion of the Premier, you’ll need to select one or more packages.

Size Increase and Cargo Capacity

Last year, parent company, General Motors gave their full-size SUVs a complete revamp after nearly thirty years. These enhancements included a highly-anticipated switch to the independent rear suspension, which in turn allowed for extra interior space and cargo capacity. The 2022 Tahoe increased its overall length by 6.7 inches, along with 4.9 inches of its wheelbase. Meanwhile, the Suburban added 1.3 inches to its length and an incredible 4.1 inches to its wheelbase.

The Tahoe’s interior gains 3 inches of legroom in the second row, and a surplus of 10.1 inches in the third row partly due to the lower floor. The Surban also increases its space by a bit over 2 inches of legroom in each row.

Cargo space also made great improvements. In the Tahoe SUV, cargo measurements have increased by 10.2 cubic feet (specifically 25.5 cubes), while the Suburban increased its space by 2.2 cubic feet (overall 41.5 cubes).

Performance and Towing Specifications

There are three different engine types to pick for the 2022 Tahoe and Suburban. The entry-level motor is a naturally aspirated 5.3-liter V8, which has an output of 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. It’s matched with a 10-speed automatic transmission and has an available rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or four-wheel-drive (4WD).

Optional on the Z71, RST, Premier and High Country models is another naturally aspirated V8, but a 6.2-liter. It musters up 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. As with the 5.3-liter, it includes the same type of automatic and drive systems.

Additionally, the automaker is offering a unique diesel 3.0-liter inline-six engine, which is only one like in its class. It has an output of 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, and also shares the 10-speed automatic.

Towing capacities range from 7,500 and 8,000 lbs subject to body style, engine, and drivetrain. The tow package also increases capacity with each model, but only by a small margin.

Available Features

Basic gear that you’ll find in the beloved Chevrolet SUVs are the 5.3-liter V8, engine and transmission coolers, and a limited-slip differential. External features involve 18-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, running boards, rear parking sensors, LED headlights and remote start. Internal gadgets encompass three-zone climate control, eight-way power driver seat and six-way power passenger seat, the 10-inch infotainment screen, 4.2-inch screen in the instrument cluster, a six-speaker sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, driver assist features.

On higher trims, like the Z71, drivers get to revel in the charming and exclusive front fascia and bumper, which provides the car with a more aggressive appearance. It also includes hill-descent control, 20-inch wheels, all-terrain tires and a skid plate. Then, the luxurious High Country comes with the 6.2-liter V8, magnetic and air suspension, 22-inch wheels, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and lane keep assist, rear camera mirror, leather heated and cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, power-folding rear seats, a large instrument panel screen and head-up display, 10-speaker Bose sound system, and wireless phone charging.

On top of this, there are optional towing assist on both SUVs, which have cameras that have up to nine different views for maneuvering and monitoring one’s trailer. They are standard with a trailer guidance feature along with a rear-view camera. There’s even an app on the infotainment system that allows users to store information about their trailer and perform various checks as they hook up the motor home.

Safety and Driver Assist Features

At last, the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban advocate for safety as they provide owners with an array of technologies, such as the standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder. Optional technologies (standard on higher trims) include reverse automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors and adaptive cruise control.

General Motors and AT&T To Team Up For 5G

General Motors is setting its sights on the future with its latest announcement. The automotive company will be teaming up with AT&T to provide 5G connectivity to its lineup of vehicles over the next decade. 5G is the fifth generation of cellular technology. It has the potential to be 100 times faster than 4G. This partnership between GM and AT&T will mean that GM’s lineup will receive better software performance, enhanced navigation, and faster streaming capabilities.

General Motors Aims for 5G

5G is the next level for cellular technology. Many companies have been touting 5G as a revolutionary technology that will significantly improve data usage and connectivity. GM recognizes the capabilities of 5G, so it makes sense that they’re looking to incorporate it into their own vehicles. The only problem is that the infrastructure to house the 5G technology is not where it needs to be. This along with connectivity issues has caused some hesitation. For GM, they are looking toward the year 2024 to fully incorporate 5G technology. About this issue, the executive director of 5G connectivity at GM Thomas DeMaria said,

“It’s really not a function of what’s missing in the vehicles,” said Thomas DeMaria. “It’s more around the maturity of the 5G technology, and also the readiness of 5G.”

Thomas DeMaria, Executive Director of 5G Connectivity at GM

General Motors recognizes that 5G technology plays an important role in providing consumers software updates and that it can drastically enhance their experience. Since it is so important, GM plans to wait until 2024 so that any issues will be resolved and connectivity will work as intended. The automaker will start the introduction to its lineup in the same year, 2024. Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC vehicles will all come equipped with 5G technology. In addition, GM will update all of its model year 2019 and newer vehicles with the 5G technology. This will improve connectivity speeds and enhance vehicle software performance. DeMaria speaks more on the potential of 5G.

“The network in the vehicle systems are increasingly relying on what I would call data augmentation,” DeMaria said. “So autonomous functions, ADAS [advanced driver assist systems] functions, and other connected services, including navigation systems, increasingly are relying on supplemental data coming in from the network. So we’re going to continue to see that trend.”

Thomas DeMaria

The smart technology that operates within vehicles will become more advanced as time goes on. Self-driving cars are a hot topic that seems to move closer to reality as time goes on. They are a great example of the potential of 5G technology as their safety information relies on a fast connection. The AI used in vehicles will require the strength provided by 5G, but as of yet, the global networks in the US are not ready. GM is getting consumers ready for the next generation of technology. Their partnership with AT&T will provide their vehicles with the latest in technology and software so that consumers get the best for their buck.

Top 5 Road Trip Features On The 2021 Chevy Suburban

Just because the kids are going back to school doesn’t mean that you have to end your summer fun, especially for those of you who are “working from home”. The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban is the perfect full-sized SUV for your road-trippin’ excursions. It’s filled with plenty of features that are guaranteed to augment your getaway experience such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Zero Gravity Seats, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and much more. Here are the Top 5 Road Trip Features On The 2021 Chevy Suburban.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

The High Country trim is best of the best on the 2021 Suburban SUV, and with it includes the brand’s Infotainment 3 system paired with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It allows users to make use of features like Waze and Spotify, as well as make phone calls and send text messages. Wireless support is very convenient on longer trips where drivers may switch seats while taking turns driving. The system is also user-friendly and hardly distracting while your hands are on the wheel.

4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot

Nowadays, having poor cell service or lack of Wi-Fi is almost considered to be on the same level as losing an arm, you just can’t function without it. Luckily, all models on the Chevy Suburban include 4G LTE integration with in-vehicle, ensuring that you and your passengers are always connected. Owners also get to take advantage of the 1-month trial, which involves 3BG of data, and can even opt for an additional plan after this trial ends.

You don’t have to worry about hearing “Are we there yet?” one too many times, as kids and teens will be able to stay in touch with friends or see what’s trending on TikTok without having to use their data.

Heated and Ventilated Seats

Third on our list are 12-way power front seats with available heated and ventilated functionality. This feature is perfect either for those living in warmer climates like Florida or cooler areas like Colorado. You don’t have to worry about making various pit stops to avoid harsh temperatures, because this tool keeps front seat passengers comfortable no matter what condition. Additionally, High Country models also offers this technology for seats in the second row.

Backup and Rearview Mirror Camera

It’s safe to say that back up cameras are considered to be a common feature in most new vehicles, however, the Chevy company does it right by inputting a surround view system, which is especially helpful when maneuvering in tight parking spots or avoiding pedestrians. Other camera angles allow one to see the SUV sky-high or how close they are to a curb.

As usual, the High Country trim cranks up the heat by switching to video display by flipping the mirror up, in which you’ll see a live feed from the back of you. It allows drivers to see a clear view of traffic behind them while the trunk is stuffed with suitcases.

Lots of Charging Ports

Having LTE Wi-Fi isn’t the only way to stay connected. The 2021 Suburban is loaded with charging ports, with access provided in the front and second row. More specifically, front row occupants have access to USB ports on both sides and a wireless charger. Meanwhile, second-row and even third row passengers include USB-C chargers.

GM Files New Trademark Application for Grand Blazer

General Motors has been stirring up excitement lately with a new trademark application filed in Argentina. It has many speculating as to whether GM will undergo a larger Chevy Grand Blazer or whether it will make an exclusive vehicle for the Southern American country. Chevrolet has been making headlines with its new all-electric 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 which it hopes will compete with Ford’s F-150 Lightning. A Chevy Grand Blazer could compete with Ford’s Bronco as well, so this may be a good opportunity for the automaker. Recently, Chevy has been updating its vehicles like the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban with new off-road packages and safety features as seen with the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer. Chevrolet has a chance to create more enthusiasm with this new trademark, but we’ll have to wait for more information to determine the route GM will take.

Is There a New Chevy Blazer in the Works?

General Motors recently filed a new trademark application in Argentina for the name “Grand Blazer.” This has raised interest as some have speculated that a Chevy Blazer that returns to its rugged roots could be in the works. The current crossover Chevy Blazer provides good performance and handling, but it isn’t a true off-road vehicle like the original. If Chevrolet has plans for a more rugged Chevy Blazer, it could do well in the off-road sphere against vehicles like the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler.

Chevrolet submitted their new trademark application with the Argentina National Institute of Industrial Property. There weren’t too many details included in the application aside from the “Grand Blazer” title. This doesn’t leave much to go off of, but typically “Grand” implies a larger or more luxurious vehicle. The flip side is that GM isn’t doing much with the new trademark, which would be a little disappointingly but somewhat understandable. The Chevrolet Grand Blazer title has been used in Southern American markets as a rebadged version of the Chevrolet Tahoe up until about 2019 so a Chevrolet Grand Blazer could be made exclusively for this Southern market. Countries like Argentina, Brazil, and Venezuela have enjoyed these vehicles before so they may be getting a new one. This is plausible as GM did file the application in Argentina, but we’ll have to see.

One more theory about the new trademark application is a new three-row version of the Chevy Blazer. This three-row version is currently sold exclusively in China. The US has a Chevy Blazer with only two rows of seats so the Grand title could add additional room. Whichever direction GM takes, it will have an impact on competitors and potentially entice new consumers.
