Only two trims – X-Line and X-Line Prestige, both trims of the 2023 Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor to form a full parallel hybrid system. Together, the horsepower generated is an output of 266 plus 419 lb-ft of torque. Tied to a six-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive standard, the EPA combined MPG is 35, and the EPA MPGe is 84.
Charging and Range
Using a 240-volt outlet, the 2023 Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid can charge up in about 2 hours. Because this is a PHEV, the battery powering the motor is larger than a standard hybrid, it can drive the vehicle for a considerable amount of time. The all-electric range (AER) is 34 miles. The X-Line comes with a 12.2-inch instrument cluster display to make up half of that 24-inches; the X-Line Prestige comes with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster display.
