2023 Kia Sorento PHEV
After going green with the Sorento HEV, Kia Corp went further and turned the Sorento into a plug-in electric hybrid vehicle (PHEV), or plug-in hybrid. For 2023, the automaker decided a single trim was all that was needed. The SX-P, or SX-Prestige, comes fully equipped with an upscale interior, technology, and plenty of standard features.

Powering the 2023 Kia Sorento PHEV is a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 66.9 kw electric motor. Able to generate 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, this PHEV has an all-electric range of 32 miles before the gasoline engine takes over. When utilizing a Level-2 charger, the Sorento PHEV can fully charge its battery in 3.5 hours.
The 2023 Kia Sorento PHEV has a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD) standard. This makes for great fuel economy. Going by MPGequivalent estimates, the Sorento PHEV SX-P can deliver 79 MPGe.
Lots of great standard features are included, such as heated mirrors, LED turn signals, a Smart Power tailgate, panoramic sunroof with power sunshade, retractable rear door sunshades, solar control class, rear privacy glass, sound-absorbing windshield glass, LED projector headlights, LED positioning lights, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights, automatic headlights, LED taillights., and an auto rain-sensing windshield wiper. This plug-in hybrid rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, consumers are greeted by a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and steering wheel-mounted audio controls. Other standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, rear a/c vents, LED interior lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, LED illuminated sun visors, leather upholstery, a 14-way power adjustable driver’s seat with 4-way lumbar support and a 2-way thigh extension, a 10-way power adjustable passenger’s seat with two-way lumbar adjustment, heated front and second-row seats, ventilated front seats, six-passenger seating with second-row captain’s chairs, split-folding second-row seats, one-touch sliding and folding second-row seats, second-row window sunshades, split-folding and reclining third-row seats. Wow, that’s a lot, and there’s more upscale features like a leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel and leather-wrapped gear shift knob.
The standard tech setup is Kia Connect with navigation on a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with SiriusXM satellite radio, Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth wireless tech with hands-free phone and audio streaming and voice recognition, and Homelink. A Bose premium audio system with 12-speakers is also included. For 2023, a 115-volt inverter that can charge household items, such as a laptop, was added to the 2023 Kia Sorento PHEV.

The basic standard safety features include dual front advanced airbags, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, a rollover sensor, an anti-lock brake system, stability and traction control systems, a rear occupant alert system, LATCH child-seat ready anchors, and a rear camera display.
