Mitsubishi Motors will be placing a greater focus on electric vehicles (EVs), but as the lineup becomes more electrified, there is one sedan that continues to return. Called the most-fuel efficient vehicle in its lineup, the Mitsubishi Mirage returns in 2021 with the same low price. Check out all it has to offer this year.

Available in four trims – ES, LE, Carbonite Edition, and SE. All trims are powered by a 1.2L MIVEC DOHC engine. Optimized with Mitsubishi Motors’ brand of variable valve timing technology (VVT), this engine is capable of generating 78 horsepower and 74 lb-ft of torque.
Driving and Handling
The ES trim can come with a 5-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard on the rest of the lineup. With the manual transmission, the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage has a fuel economy of 33 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway. Otherwise, consumers can expect 36 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway.
Although redesigned for 2022, the Carbonite Edition still stands out with a new Carbon pattern on the grille, side airdam, and rear airdam. Sporty sleek LED headlights are available on high end trims like the SE, with the rest of the lineup outfitted with halogen headlights and LED taillights. Depending on the trim, consumers may have the choice of 14- or 15-inch wheels.
Similar to past model years, many standard features can be found in the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage, such as a 6-way adjustable driver seat, 4-way adjustable passenger seat, a split-rear bench seat, automatic climate control, rear heater floor ducts, steering wheel audio and phone controls, and steering wheel voice recognition control. Always saving the luxury options for the SE, consumers can expect leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob to return for 2022.
Standard since 2021, each trim on the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage comes with a 7-inch smartphone-link display audio system. This system offers four speakers, AM/FM Radio Bluetooth wireless tech, and Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capability. The SE tends to get convenient amenities like FAST-key entry and push-button start.
Safety Features and Warranty
Mitsubishi Motors still designs vehicles with safety in mind, and each vehicle comes with advanced dual-stage airbags (including the driver’s knee airbag), three-point seatbelts, anti-locking brakes, active stability control and traction systems, a LATCH child seat tether system, an anti-theft engine immobilizer, and built with Mitsubishi’s signature RISE body construction. Advanced safety features have also found their way into the model in recent years, such as forward collision mitigation system with pedestrian control and a lane departure warning system (SE only).
All Mitsubishi vehicles are covered by a basic limited warranty for 5 years/60,000 miles, a powertrain limited warranty for 10 years/100,000 miles, 7 years or 100,000 miles of anti-corrosion coverage, and roadside assistance.
