The 2019 Outlander Sport has a 148-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The engine upgrade of 168-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder will give drivers a quicker acceleration. Standard with the base engine is the five-speed manual transmission but there’s also a smooth-shifting continuously variable automatic transmission is also available in the base trim and its standard in all higher trim levels.  

 

The Outlander Sport earns 30 mpg in the highway and 24 mpg in the city with the base engine and front wheel drive but adding an all-wheel-drive engine drops the mpg by 1 for both city and highway. As for options, there is the front-wheel-drive which delivers 23/29 mpg on the city/highway. The rating also drops by one mpg in models with the optional engine and AWD.

 

Handling and Braking

The Outlander Sport’s driving experience offers a comfortable ride over smooth pavement. All-wheel drive is available, and front-wheel drive is standard. To power the ignition and other systems and to also recharge the battery, the Outlander Sport has a standard 130-amp alternator.

Visually, nothing has changed with the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport as the 2018 model received revised front, and rear bumpers, accent pieces and new LED running lights. The Outlander Sport’s proportions are outstanding, and its compact overall length makes it a comfortable vehicle to operate in curvy roads. The design from last year looked aggressive, and it still does, thanks in part to prominent molding around the wheel wells.  

 

Interior Features

The Outlander Sport can seat up to five people on two rows of cloth seats. The vehicle has manually adjustable front seats are standard while heated front seats and shift knob and leather-wrapped steering wheel are available. For child safety, there are two sets of LATCH car-seat connectors on the rear outboard seats and an upper harness on the back middle seat.

The infotainment system - features a 7-inch touch screen, four speakers, HD Radio, Bluetooth, and a USB port - the Outlander Sport has an honorable amount of standard technology, however, some of its competitors offer standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, which is an added cost to the Outlander Sport. Further available features include a six-speaker audio system, satellite radio, push-button start, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The physical knobs for climate settings at the bottom of the control panel, as well as steering wheel-mounted audio controls make the standard infotainment system easy-to-use. 

Safety Features and Warranty

As for safety, there are airbags included (driver, passenger, front head, rear head, and front side airbags), 4-wheel ABS, 4-wheel disc brakes, brake assist, electronic stability control, child safety locks, integrated turn signal mirrors, and traction control. There’s also more optional safety types of equipment. Optional equipment includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane change assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams.
