2019 Ram 1500
The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 is not your run of the millwork truck. It offers best-in-class features and moves the needle on what a pickup should be. Awarded Motor Trend’s prestigious Truck of the Year award, the 2019 Ram is easily a step above the rest.
5.7-L HEMI V8
Avail. Engine Type
Under the hood of the all-new Ram, 1500 buyers can find one of the following engine options - a 3.6-liter V6 engine, or a powerful 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine. The 3.6-liter V6 is the standard for the lower-tier trims. It can generate 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft, while the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 ( which produces 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque) comes standard on the Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited trim levels and is optional on the remaining trims. The HEMI engine features a Multi-displacement System (MDS) that works to maximize fuel efficiency by shutting off four of the eight cylinders when driving at a steady speed. Another system that improves fuel efficiency and betters the Ram 1500 overall is the mild-hybrid eTorque system that replaces the classic alternator and reduces the engine’s overall load when idling. When paired with the V6 engine the eTorque system generates an additional 90 lb-ft of torque, while respectively adding 120 lb-ft of torque when mated to the HEMI V8 engine.
Driving and Handling
The 2019 off-road package is by far the best the Ram brand has to offer. It includes a one-inch suspension lift, an electronic-locking rear differential, 32-inch on- and off-road tires on standard 18-inch wheels or available 20-inch wheels, and an optional four-corner air suspension. Additionally, buyers who opt for a four-wheel drive drivetrain can choose between two electronically-controlled transfer cases: a BorgWarner 48-12 that’s solely for part-time 4WD operation and offers Hi and Low ranges or a BorgWarner 48-11 for on-demand 4WD. Drivers can engage both of the transfer cases via a push-button control that’s mounted below the rotary gear selector on the instrument panel. The package is available for almost every trim.
The Exterior design of the 2019 Ram 1500 offers quite a few radical changes that include a lighter, longer, and wider body with improved aerodynamics, sharp body lines, and does away with the predecessor's crosshair grille. All 2019 Ram 1500 pickups now feature a Ram badge on the grille instead. In fact, there are six different grille designs in total throughout the lineup. Halogen headlamps are standard on the low-tier trims, but the high-end trims offer a forward-leaning front grille opening with slanted LED headlights and an adaptive front-lighting system.
Wheel sizes available vary from 18 - 22-inches, while an optional (and all-new) 33.3-inch x 43.4-inch panoramic sunroof will let those sunbeams in. A full-width, chrome stamped-steel rear bumper graces the back of the Ram 1500, while the efficient RamBox Cargo Management System has returned better than ever after a redesign. The RamBox is weatherproof, lockable, features drainable storage bins built into the bed rails, has a 115-volt outlet, and relocated overhead lighting for improved illumination.
The interior cabin of the 2019 Ram 1500 should be classified as state-of-the-art when compared to its predecessor. A push-to-start button, an electronic parking brake, even a rotary e-shifter dial are all shared standard features across the lineup no matter the trim. Lower-tier trims come standard with cloth and/or vinyl interiors, while the high-end trims offer an upscale leather-bound upholstery with wood accents.
New on the 2019 Ram 1500 is a wider docking area that offers optional wireless charging for a small tablet or smartphone, an additional lined compartment found under the center armrest, and a deep storage tub that can house a 15-inch laptop. Like a compact makeshift office of sorts. Another tablet holder is available for the rear passengers behind the cupholders for added convenience. An optional glove box that houses a hidden cubby in the dashboard is available on the high-end trims for added security. The RamBin storage system can be found on the floor when folding up the rear seat bench - available on the higher-end trims.
Modernization was a key factor when upgrading the 2019 Ram 1500. A total of three different sound systems are available, ranging from a standard six-speaker sound system to a nine-speaker Alpine sound system, and a premium 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with a 10-inch subwoofer. A 5-inch touchscreen display with the Uconnect 3 infotainment system is the standard, but an impressive (and not to mention massive) 12-inch touchscreen is an available upgrade. The 12-inch touchscreen option includes the next generation Uconnect 4C infotainment system, navigation, SiriusXM 360L platform, smart content recommendations, and limitless on-demand audio streaming capabilities. 4G Wi-Fi is also available.
Safety Features and Warranty
Plenty of standard safety features are available on the 2019 Ram 1500 such as advanced multistage front airbags, supplemental front-mounted and side-curtain airbags, traction and stability control systems, a ParkView backup camera, and a Sentry Key theft deterrent system. Advanced safety features available include blind-spot monitoring, advanced brake assist, LaneSense Lane Departure Warning-Plus, Rear Cross Path detection, adaptive cruise control, advanced brake assist, forward collision warning, and ParkSense park assist with reverse stop. Select trim levels even offer 911 Call Assist.

Free towing to the nearest Ram Truck dealer, if necessary, is covered and is transferable as well. The 2019 Ram 1500 has a starting MSRP of $31,795 (plus destination fee).
