Engine- The 2019 Jeep Renegade is offered in three trims when paired with front-wheel-drive - Sport, Latitude, and Limited, while the 4x4 drivetrain features the same trims plus an additional one - the Trailhawk trim. All Sport and Latitude trims feature a 2.4-liter four-cylinder Tigershark engine under the hood that generates 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The 2019 Jeep Renegade has a fuel economy of 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
The Limited and Trailhawk trims are powered by an all-new 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (available as an optional upgrade on the Sport and Latitude trims) capable of generating 177 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque. The turbocharged engine option features engine stop-start (ESS) technology and active grille shutters (unavailable on the Trailhawk trim), intended to improve fuel efficiency. Jeep officially discontinued manual transmissions on all Renegade trims and recently introduced a segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission for reduced emissions that’s be mated to the new 1.3-liter engine. Towing capability of the Sport and Latitude trims, regardless of drivetrain choice, is a solid 2,000 pounds.
Besides the new transmission and active grille shutters, Renegade 4x4 vehicles now feature a segment-exclusive disconnecting rear axle and a power take-off unit (PTU) to maximize fuel efficiency. The Renegade offers two different 4x4 systems - the Active Drive 4x4 system is a part-time 4x4 system that automatically engages depending on driving conditions or by driver request and comes standard on the Renegade Sport, Latitude, and Limited trims.
Additionally, the Renegade Trailhawk trim also features a part-time 4x4 system: Active Drive Low - a system with low-range capability that provides low-speed traction with an impressive crawl ratio of 21:1. The Trailhawk also has 8.7-inches of ground clearance and up to 19 inches of water fording. Both the Active Drive and Active Drive Low 4x4 systems also come with the additional Jeep Selec-Terrain system that features five driving modes - Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud, and Rock - serving optimum performance whether on or off road regardless of the driving conditions.
The 2019 Jeep Renegade sports a refreshed exterior complete with new front fascias, new aluminum wheel designs, a new grille surround, and new wheel options for the Latitude and Limited trims. There’s even a new LED Lighting Group available on the 2019 Renegade lineup that includes LED headlamps, cornering fog lamps, LED tail lamps, and daytime running lamps.
Lower body side-cladding and monotone paint is standard across all trims, but side roof rails vary from black to chrome depending on the trim. For those buyers interested in an immersive Jeep experience of enjoying that open-air feeling, there are the My Sky Power retractable/removable panels offered as an optional upgrade across the lineup. The 2019 Renegade lineup also offers three new exterior paint colors - Bikini, Sting Grey, and Slate Blue. Seven other exterior colors already exist and are as follows: Colorado Red, Jetset blue Metallic, Glacier Metallic, Black, Omaha Orange, Granite Crystal, and Alpine White.
Features vary depending on the trim, but standard on all trims are the following: steering wheel-mounted audio controls, a height adjustable rear cargo floor, a front center sliding armrest, and cargo tie-down loops. The upholstery varies from cloth to fabric, with supple leather an optional upgrade on the high-tier trims. Luxurious trims such as the Limited and Trailhawk trims come standard with a leather-wrapped shift knob and all-season floor mats. The Renegade Limited trim is top of the lineup and includes heated front seats, a power 8-way driver seat with lumbar support and a 40/20/40 rear seat with trunk pass-thru access. All 2019 Renegade vehicles now feature a new instrument cluster graphics.
There are six new interior color combinations available for 2019 Renegade trims, including Black Sandstrom with Metal Diamond accents, Trailhawk Black with Ruby Red accents, Black leather with Grillz accents, Trespass Black with Metal Diamond accents, Polar Plunge leather with Grillz accents, and Polar Plunge with Metal Diamond accents.
Infotainment systems vary depending on the trim with a media hub (USB and AUX connections) and a 6-speaker audio system as the only standard features across the entire lineup. All trims but the Sport trim feature a Uconnect 4 infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capabilities, integrated voice command Bluetooth, audio streaming, and a complimentary SiriusXM Sat Radio one-year subscription. There’s also an 8.4-inch touchscreen display with navigation as an available upgrade, as is an eight-speaker premium Beats Audio sound system complete with a subwoofer for better sound quality.
Safety Features and Warranty
Standard safety features on all 2019 Renegade vehicles include supplemental side airbags both in the front and rear of the cabin, an advanced multistage front airbag system, stability control systems, an anti-lock braking system, a ParkView rear backup camera, panic brake assist, electronic roll mitigation, and LATCH-ready anchors for children’s car seats. Jeep also offers Advanced Tech Group package that comes with front parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist Plus, and adaptive cruise control. Those who opt for the Renegade Limited trim have the option to upgrade to advanced safety features such as LaneSense Departure Warning Plus and Forward Collision Warning Plus.
All Jeep vehicles come standard with a basic 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, roadside assistance over the course of five years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first), and rust-through coverage for five years or 100,000 miles.
