Avail. Engine Type
Avail. Fuel Economy
The 2018 Dodge Journey can come on two drivetrains: front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). Depending on which drivetrain the consumer chooses, the four trims of the Dodge Journey (SE, SXT, Crossroad, and GT) may have various options. A 2.4-liter I4 DOHC engine with dual variable valve timing (VVT) technology is the standard on all trims, except the GT trim, when choosing FWD. This engine can generate 173 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque.
If choosing AWD, or just the Journey GT, then the standard engine will be a 3.6-liter V6 engine with VVT, able to generate 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. VVT is a process that alters the frequency of an engine cylinders valve lift event during the intake of air/fuel and exhaust of fumes. High levels of performance become possible with higher frequencies.
Driving and Handling
Standard on the 2018 Dodge Journey SE, SXT, and Crossroads trims is a 4-speed automatic transmission. Standard on the Journey GT and optional on the Journey SXT and Crossroads trims is a 6-speed automatic transmission. If the consumer chooses to get AWD, all Journey trims will come standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission. All automatic transmission options feature AutoStick technology, a driver-interactive transaxle shifter that provides clutchless manual shifting.
If driving on FWD, the Journey SE, SXT, and Crossroads all get 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The Journey GT with FWD has a fuel economy of 17/25 mpg city/highway. If equipped with AWD, the entire lineup gets 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
A number of standard features can be found on the 2018 Dodge Journey, including, automatic headlamps, back-up lamps, halogen quad headlamps, heated exterior mirrors, a rear window defroster and wiper, and a removable short mast antenna. If a fan of upscale aesthetics, select trims come with black headlamps or tail lamps, black exterior mirrors versus body color, and dual bright exhaust tips; special trims even come with badges and decals. For those that like to get a little dirty, select trims come equipped with splash guards and door sill guards by Mopar and black side roof rails for keeping extra equipment stored safely. The 2018 Dodge Journey can ride on 17- or 19-inch wheels, available in various styles.
Consumers will find many convenient features throughout the interior of the 2018 Dodge Journey SUV, including easy entry system seating, low-bucket seats, cloth upholstery, rear folding seat, a second-row 40/40 tilt and slide seat and a third row 50/50 folding seat, dual zone temperature control, driver and passenger LED lamps, second-row in-floor storage bins, a liftgate flood lamp, sunscreen glass to keep the cabin from heating up. If the muddy type, front and rear floor mats also come standard. When it comes to luxury though, high-end trims may feature leather upholstery, a 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a leather wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob, triple zone automatic temperature control, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats.
When it comes to entertainment, a 4.3-inch touchscreen with a standard radio system is the standard on the 2018 Dodge Journey SE and SXT trims. An 8.4-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 3 with SiriusXM Satellite Radio for a year is available for the SXT trim, standard on the Journey Crossroads and GT trims. The entire lineup except for the Dodge Journey GT can play tunes through a six-speaker system. The Journey GT comes with a six premium Alpine speaker system with a subwoofer. Uconnect voice command with Bluetooth is standard on the Journey Crossroads and GT trims, optional on the Journey SE and SXT trims. All trims have steering wheel-mounted audio controls. The Dodge Journey Crossroads and GT can upgrade to Uconnect 3 with navigation.
