The Chevy Malibu is available with three different engines. The Chevy Malibu L, LT, and LS are equipped with a 160-horsepower 1.5-liter EcoTec I-4 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5L engine is a very efficient engine that offers drivers enough power to quickly accelerate when needed. The Chevy Malibu Premier comes standard with a 250-horsepower 2.0L turbocharged ECOTEC engine and a 9-speed automatic transmission, which is an available upgrade on other Malibu trims.
Fuel Economy
The 1.5L engine gives the 2018 Chevy Malibu an average fuel economy of 27 mpg in the city, 36 mpg on the highway and a combined city/highway fuel economy of 30 mpg.
