The Chevy Corvette has been on the road since 1953, when it was introduced as performance car, and it continues to evolve and improve each year. Since the 50s, the Corvette has gone through various design changes and it is currently in its seventh generation (C7).
For the 2017 model year, there will be two Corvette models, the Corvette Stingray and the all-new Corvette Grand Sport (GS) and both performance sports cars are more technically advanced than ever before.
While the Corvette Stingray is a staple to the Corvette lineup, the Corvette Grand Sport is the newest member to the Corvette lineup. As it did in 1963, the new 2017 Corvette Grand Sport has a racing spirit and a loud roar. Check out all of the latest specs and info on both of the 2017 Chevy Corvette models below.

The Corvette lineup consists of a variety of Corvette trims and features to help buyers customize their Corvette into their dream car. In 2017, the Corvette Stingray is available as a coupe or convertible and six trims -- the 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, Z51 LT, Z51 2LT, and Z51 3LT. The 2017 Corvette Grand Sport is also available as a convertible or coupe, and it is available in three trims - the 1LT 2LT, and 3LT.
Despite all of the trim options, all 2017 Corvette models have the same 460-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine. The engine pushes out 465 lb-ft of torque that helps it to achieve awesome track times. The Corvette comes standard with a paired with a 7-speed manual transmission, but buyers can opt for an eight-speed paddle-shift transmission.
The 2017 Corvette Stingray can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds! The all-new Corvette Grand Sport features a dry-sump oil system that helps the Corvette GS accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds, which is just a hair faster than the Stingray. The dry-sump system reduces the excess oil around the crankshaft that can occur in a wet sump application and cut horsepower. Some people claim improvements of as much as 15 horsepower by switching to a dry sump. Having a dry-sump system also eliminates the oil pan under the engine, thus making it easier to mount the engine lower in the car and lowering the center of gravity. Drivers that prefer the Stingray can add the dry-sump oil system on the Corvette Stingray Z51 models.
With a heritage and legacy known for award-winning performance on the most elite tracks and competitions, all Corvette models have an exquisitely designed exterior. While the Corvette Stingray and Corvette Grand Sport might look very similar, there are several different exterior components.
Standard Performance Equipment
The Stingray and Grand Sport are equipped with high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights, a body-color carbon-fiber roof panel and heated exterior mirrors. To ensure drivers and passengers don’t get burned or too hot when slowly cruising on the beach, both models have solar-ray light tinted glass.
2017 Corvette Stingray Exterior
The 2017 Corvette Stingray achieves perfect 50-50 weight distribution and has an excellent power-to-weight distribution because it has a lightweight aluminum frame. While the Corvette Stingray’s frame is 100 pounds lighter than the previous model year, the frame is 57 percent stiffer. A functional hood air extractor has angled blades that help the Stingray achieve optimalcooling airflow, which results in improved handling from the reduced lift and increased downforce.
2017 Corvette Grand Sport Exterior
To carry on the Corvette Grand Sport’s race car heritage, the GS’s exterior was strictly designed with aerodynamics in mind. Some of the Grand Sport’s aerodynamic design elements are a Z06-inspired rear spoiler and available carbon fiber rocker panels. To ensure the Grand Sport grips the road at high speeds, it rides on aluminum rims that are 19 inches on the front and 20 inches on the rear with 245 tires in the front and 285 tires in the rear. That’s a nice foot print!
2017 Corvette Stingray
The interior of the 2017 Corvette Stingray is both sporty and luxurious. Features like a cockpit design and feel, premium materials, the Grand Touring seats, and a leather wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel all come standard. Other available features include Nappa leather seats, a heads-up display, and a red safety belt. Standard technology features mentioned include a nine-speaker Bose audio system, MyLink radio with a 8-inch display screen, and OnStar 4G LTE built in wifi.
2017 Corvette Grand Touring
Grand Touring bucket seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in sueded microfiber material or premium leather, steering wheel controls all come as standard interior features for the Grand Sport. Some other available options include but are not limited to the competition sports seat, a heads up display, red seat belts, cargo shade, and a personalized plaque. The 2017 Corvette Grand Sport is also loaded with technology both entertainment and safety. Features like a nine-speaker Bose audio system, MyLink radio with an 8-inch display screen, SiriusXM radio, and an OnStar 4G LTE WiFi hotspot are standard on the Grand Sport.
Above Standard Safety
In addition to great entertainment technology, all Chevy Corvettes are equipped with standard and preventative safety technology to help increase the safety of drivers and passengers. Both the 2017 Corvette Stingray and Grand Sport are equipped with a rear vision backup camera, OnStar guidance system, driver and passenger airbags, active handling stability control, and traction control are all standard on every Corvette model and trim. The race-inspired Grand Sport does feature a performance traction management system to further support drivers and the car at high speeds.
Warranty and Pricing
The Stingray is quite the performance package but pricing for these vehicles varies since the Grand Sport is such a monster performance vehicle. The 2017 Corvette Stingray begins at $55,450, and the Grand Sport starts at $79,320.
Warranties for both are the same, and are standard across Chevy vehicles. The warranties include a three year or 36,000 miles basic warranty and a five year or 60,000 mile powertrain warranty.
