The best part of Ram trucks, is that there is a pickup to suit every possible need. From light hauling, to heavy duty towing - the Ram truck lineup truly has it all. And if you tuned in to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade over the holiday, then you have a slight inclination as to what we are talking about.
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Powered by RAM
Each and every year, Americans wake up early on Thanksgiving morning to tune into the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Nowadays, we are sure that a lot of those people DVR it to watch later - but that’s beside the point. One way or another, millions tune in to watch the country’s largest Thanksgiving Day parade. This year was the 90th anniversary of the time honored tradition, which prompted over a year of careful planning in preparation of the event.
Obviously, the most important part of any parade are the floats. We all know that the beautiful floats don’t do much good, if they are only capable of standing still. In order for the floats to serve their purpose, they need a dependable, strong, and capable truck to pull them through the New York City streets. The folks in charge of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade recognized the importance of the vehicles that pull the floats, which is why they chose Ram to be the official truck sponsor of the parade.
Seventy Ram trucks were deployed during the parade on Thanksgiving, pulling floats, balloons, and anything else that was needed. Not only that, but Ram trucks also performed the important task of getting those items from the parade headquarters in New Jersey, to New York City.
An estimated 50 million viewers tuned in to the parade from the comfort of their couch, while 3.5 million people lined the streets of New York City to watch. With Ram trucks front and center, the entire country saw the power and capability of the newly redesigned lineup.
Ram Trucks Used During the Parade
Until this year, GMC was the only manufacturer to provide pickup trucks for the annual parade. Ram replaces GMC as the sole provider of pickup trucks for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which will likely last for several years.
The parade utilized seventy Ram trucks, which ranged from light duty 1500 models, to heavy duty 2500 and 3500 pickups. Ram also deployed their ProMaster City utility vans, to serve behind the scenes, and for other transportation needs. All of the trucks used were from the latest 2016 model year lineup, and the company debuted two new exterior colors for the first time at the parade - Delmonico Red, and Pearl White. With a maximum towing capacity of 30,000 pounds, Ram trucks more than proved their power on the streets of New York City this Thanksgiving.
