Along with an overhead storage bin for small items and a center console with ample storage room and the in-floor storage space, the second and third-row seats fold, providing an additional 12 cubic feet of storage. So even when the seats are up, you are still getting above-average cargo capacity.  

Luxurious Seating 

When all the seats are folded up, the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan is able to seat up to seven passengers comfortably. The configuration of the seats — captain chairs in the second row, and a bench seat in the third row — provides the optimal combination of the Caravan's storage and ample passenger room. 

A big part of what makes the Grand Caravan so appealing is the premium materials used to make the seats. Depending on what upgrades/trim you get, the Grand Caravan can come with two types of seat materials: either cloth or leather. This isn’t the type of cheap cloth you are thinking of, either. It’s some premium stuff and comes in a variety of colors like gray, black, and beige. Upgrading to the leather trimmed seats gets you some serious comfort, and the supple Torino leather trim comes in either black with red accent stitching, or black with silver accent stitching. Regardless of which color is chosen, the leather seats come with perforated suede inserts in order to help keep the occupants cool and content when the cabin gets warm.

Remember how I mentioned the Grand Caravan had some interesting twists thrown in? Well, the tailgate seating feature is one of those twists. With the tailgate seating, it’s possible to actually take the 60/40 split-folding, third-row seats and flip them completely around so that they are facing the back. This only works when the Grand Caravan is in parked position, obviously, and allows a unique way to enjoy a spontaneous camping trip in a park. When the seats are in this position, the opened tailgate provides protection from the elements, and the seats can even recline.

The 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan is loaded with airbags on the inside and is a mountain of steel on the outside. Seven airbags encompass the entire front and sides of the vehicle, and specially designed front and rear crumple zones have been set in place to help mitigate impact energy before it reaches the cabin. Even if it does, that impact energy still needs to get through the high-strength steel safety frame, which has been designed to contribute to the vehicle’s overall impact performance, which is why it was able to score four and five-star ratings respectively for IIHS’ front and side impact tests.   

Technological Safety Features 

The Grand Caravan also has plenty of safety technology on-board as well; such as blind spot monitoring, rear cross path detection, a backup camera, and rear park assist. All of which are aimed at making your life less stressful in certain driving situations. On top of these features, all-speed traction control, and electronic stability control also come standard, and aid the driver in hazardous weather conditions.
