2016 Chevy Corvette

There's no denying it: everyone wants a Corvette. Sure, it may not make sense for every driver, but the majority of consumers have probably dreamed of driving the popular sports car. That's especially true for the upcoming 2016 model, as engineers have included a number of new features to put the Corvette over the top.

Of course, most consumers are on a budget, and we'd assume that the Corvette Stingray ($55,400) and Corvette Z06 ($79,400) are a bit out of your price range. Luckily, if you shop at Miami Lakes Automall, and you can be assured the best deal on the vehicle. Furthermore, their staff will do their best to find a fair and easy payment plan. To see why the 2016 Chevy Corvette is the car for you (and while Miami Lakes Automall is the ideal dealership), continue reading below...

How the 2016 is Different Than the 2015

We previously learned that Chevrolet was adding three new Corvette design packages for 2016: Spice Red, Jet Black Suede and Twilight Blue. The Red Corvette will feature a (you guessed it) red interior, red top, and red brake calipers. The Stingray version comes with "Motorsport" wheels, while the Z06 will include a pearl-nickel-finish "Blade" wheel. The Black Suede version includes black microfiber upholstery with matching top. The available colors (Black, Arctic White, Blade Silver or Torch Red) will be complemented by the black wheels (with red stripe) and red brake calipers. Finally, the Twilight package features a dark blue interior and blue top, and the vehicle will be available in four colors (Night Race Blue, Arctic White, Shark Gray, or Blade Silver).

On the outside, the Stingray and the Z06 will share many of the same changes. Customers can now opt for a number of new colors, including the Corvette Racing Yellow Tintcoat and the Long Beach Red Metallic paint. Drivers can also opt for a unique (and rather innovative) graphics kit that leaves the hood unpainted, showing off the carbon-fiber material that makes up the vehicle's body. Among the features (standard and optional) are a front-facing parking camera and a power-cinching hatch or trunk (as Alexander Stoklosa of Car and Driver explains, this is an appreciated inclusion considering the relative difficulty in shutting a Corvette's trunk).

The Corvette Stingray will undergo some of its own minor changes for the second year in a row. Last year, engineers added an entirely brand new transmission, but this year's changes will be more cosmetic. The steering wheel has been revamped, featuring a flat-bottom design (the steering wheel is also available in four finishes). Two-tone GT seats were also added to the cabin, and if you opt for the Jet Black interior, you'll find red or yellow accent stitching found throughout the upholstery. Engineers were also eager to add the Magnetic Ride Control adaptive dampers, a high-performance feature that is now available by itself.

Of course, the Z06 has some exclusive changes as well. Customers can now opt for the stylish "Blade" wheel design, and they can also go for the Brownstone interior. Perhaps the biggest development for the Camaro is the production of the limited Z06 C7.R Edition. The vehicle imitates the racing C7.R Corvettes, but the resemblances aren't only related to appearance. The car will include the Z07 package, which includes (via Stoklosa) "Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, adjustable aerodynamic bits, and Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tires," and the 3LZ trim (includes "standard leather- or suede-wrapped everything, navigation, and Chevy’s Performance Data Recorder"). With only 500 of the vehicles produced, a special VIN number will also be included.

Why You Want a Corvette Stingray

Made for the more casual driver, the Stingray still offer insane power and speed via the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine. The system can pump out 460 horsepower and 465 pounds-feet of torque, resulting in a zero-to-60 time of 3.7 seconds. These impressive specs could be attributed to the lower-weight, aerodynamic design, as well as the "world's fastest-acting suspension." The mechanics include a seven-speed manual (with active rev matching) or the eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission.

Nervous of driving such a fast and powerful vehicle? The engineers added some genius stylistic accents, making for an optimal driving experience. For example, the hood air extractor offers angled blades, which in turn will improve the cooling airflow. This vicariously reduces the lift while also boosting the downforce, which will improve the vehicle's handling under high speeds. The brake cooling system will provide a driver with the best stopping performance around, and the powertrain cooling will help keep your engine cool while you're traveling at high speeds.

Why You Want a Corvette Z06

The Z06 is a bit pricier than the Stingray, but for good reason. With an LT4 supercharged 6.2-liter aluminum V8 engine, the vehicle can pump out a mind-boggling 650 horsepower and 650 feet-pounds of torque (as well as a 2.95-second zero-to-60 time). While poor fuel economy would be expected, the engineers did their best to improve the vehicle's efficiency by including Direct Injection, Active Fuel Management, and the Continuously Variable Valve Timing system.

As expected, the Corvette also features some of the best stylings in the class. The Chevrolet website claims that each of the exterior elements serves a specific function, and we're not just talking about the ability to impress fellow drivers. The Z06's stylish features help improve the vehicle's road grip, aerodynamics, and performance. Among the exterior features are wide wheels and tires (including the standard Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZP summer-only tires), large air-cooling vents, and a wider overall design.
