Kia Motors is one automaker that is always looking for more ways to get involved with the youth and the community. Now more than ever, people are keeping an eye on businesses and how they have responded to the current pandemic. With Kia Motors always looking towards the future of automobiles, their latest contract with New Horizon Studios through the Hyundai Motor Group has vehicle concepts that sound like something out of a Hollywood film. The latest community stunt Kia pulled was connecting with Millennials and gamers by putting the new Kia Sonet into the latest version of Grand Theft Auto V. Next for Kia Motors is entering the Kia Telluride into the 2020 Rebelle Rally.
The race is already on! From October 8 – October 16, 2020, the Rebelle Rally puts female racers to the test. Known as the only all-women, off-road navigational challenge held in the deserts of California and Nevada, drivers cross 1,500 miles in eight days before reaching the finish line. From Lake Tahoe, California to the Imperial Sand Dunes, California, Rebelle Rally is the longest event of its kind in the lower 48 states (sorry, Hawaii and Alaska not included). All riders have to go on is an old-fashioned paper map, a compass, and their guts That means no GPS, no cell phones, no digital devices of any kind, and Kia Motors is entering the race with the Kia Telluride SUV.
“This is a significant event for Kia,” he said. “The Telluride is one of our most successful vehicles ever and the Rebelle Rally is a real test of its capability, durability and versatility. We expect it to perform extremely well and will be cheering on Alyssa and Sabrina as they take on this tough challenge.” – Sean Yoon, president & CEO, Kia Motors North America & Kia Motors America
In addition to entering the race, Kia Motors will also be exclusive sponsor of the Live Show webcast covering the Rebelle Rally. The broadcast will take place live twice daily from locations along the rally route. Even better, Kia will also be providing rally participants with coffee and breakfast service in the Mojave backcountry. Known as one of the most remote overnight stops, not only is it great for these times of a pandemic, but having Kia Motors serve the participants coffee and a hot breakfast is a huge way to leave a mark on the racers.
Entering the Rebelle Rally will be the 2020 Kia Telluride SX trim, the high-end of the lineup. The Telluride riders are ESPN correspondent Alyssa Roenigk and actor Sabrina Howells. Roenigk has an impressive resume, part of the first U.S. team to win the Aïcha des Gazelle Rally in Morocco. Howells may be an actor but she also competed in the Rebelle Rally in 2016, taking 1st place for the crossover class, and competing again in 2017, coming in at second place. Serving as the rally support vehicle in the desert will be the 2021 Seltos SX, a new trim making its debut.
It’s great to see Kia Motors continuing to get involved with the community. Want to check out the vehicles participating in Rebelle Rally this year? Contact us at Miami Lakes Automall and ask about at home test drives.
