All the way back in May, 2019, springtime was fierce and so was the competition of new model year vehicles. Every year, many publications and organizations hold award shows and competitions between all kinds of vehicle categories. Some people just like their input heard whereas a lot of these competitions are about giving consumers the ability to make an informed decision when buying a car in the market. One of these organizations is the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA). Every year, once in the spring and again in autumn, they hold two large events – the Texas Auto Roundup and the Texas Truck Rodeo, respectively. The Kia Telluride won the “Mid-size crossover” category and was named the “CUV of Texas”. Now at the 2019 Truck Rodeo, the Kia Telluride strikes again.
Wow, and right after MotorTrend named the 2020 Kia Telluride SUV of the Year. We swear, we didn’t plan this. It’s just more proof that when Kia Motors makes a great vehicle, people notice. Plus, it’s the end of the year, 2020 is just out of reach. It’s time to find out the best-of-the-best for those end-of-the-year savings everyone is waiting on. Like Black Friday, just because it’s suddenly affordable doesn’t mean it’s the one to buy.
The Texas Auto Writers Association, or TAWA, is a reputable automotive press organization with over 30 years of publishing in the industry. TAWA promotes quality and accurate automotive journalism, and their competitions are only a further illustration of how they share that with consumers in the auto market. During the Texas Truck Rodeo, as many as 20 brands and over 50 different vehicles such as pickup trucks, SUVs, crossovers, and commercial vehicles tend to show up at the Texas Truck Rodeo and 2019 was no different.
Once all the vehicles have been entered, more than 60 TAWA automotive journalist members from across the U.S. converge spend two days evaluating the best trucks, SUVs and CUVs the auto industry has to offer. Journalists were also encouraged to drive the vehicles as they would if they were simulating their own day-to-day driving conditions to collect data not only in controlled instances but also for the average consumer. Furthermore, TAWA members inspect everything about the vehicle, covering the exterior and interior styling, the capabilities of the vehicle, and the comforts it offers consumers.
This year, the 2020 Kia Telluride took home the overall category-winning title of “SUV of Texas”. Repeating history, in addition to the top honor the Telluride received, it was also named the “Mid-Size SUV of Texas.” “Mid-Size Crossover” in April”, and now an SUV. Whichever the Kia Telluride is – the automaker’s largest SUV *cough cough* – it’s a clear winner in the industry.
“Taking the two top prizes at the TAWA Truck Rodeo is further evidence that Kia ’gave it everything’ when it comes to Telluride…Texans love their SUVs and the TAWA members are a discerning group, especially when it comes to utility vehicles. Taking the ‘SUV of Texas’ prize is a true honor for the Kia brand.” – Michael Cole, president, Kia Motors America.
