Miami Lakes Brotherhood Of Muscle

For those of you that haven’t heard the news, Vin Diesel, the actor that portrays Dominic Toretto in the Fast & Furious film series, recently joined the Dodge family. Wow, that’s actually kind of cool if you think about it. Dodge and Diesel recently worked together to make three commercials for Dodge, a mini-series called “The Brotherhood of Muscle.” They all star Diesel whilst he drives a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, and a Dodge Durango R/T. But is it all just business? No, not entirely.

The newest Fast & Furious film, Fate of the Furious, knocked it out of the park on a global scale. It grabbed the number one film spot in the entire world and had the world’s biggest global opening of all time. Furious 7 held the title for one of the fastest movies to reach $1 billion worldwide, so we have to wonder if the numbers are due to the plot of The Fate of the Furious where Dom turns on his own, or if it had to do with the recent debut of the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Both came out around the same time.

“Dodge and SRT vehicles have an attitude and presence that provide their owners with much more than just transportation … Customers who choose to purchase a Dodge from among nearly 300 available vehicle nameplates intentionally do so to make a personal statement. As Dom Toretto, Vin has played an integral part in the development of the Dodge attitude, since his 1970 Charger appeared in ‘The Fast and the Furious.’ It is very fitting to now have Vin become an official member of the Dodge brand family.” – Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America.

So clearly, Dodge is pushing the brand further by making use of the film’s record-breaking ascension and popularity. However, many times an actor is just in it for the cash, so we wondered if Diesel was just another guy on the payroll with the Dodge Family title. Apparently, he’s a die hard fan.

“Ever since ‘The Fast and the Furious’ began, my favorite has been the 1970 Dodge Charger … As Dodge is a partner in making the ‘Fast & Furious’ films, I’ve gotten to know what they stand for … as well as their passion for creating high-performance cars like the Hellcats and the Demon. They’re bringing muscle back the right way and these are my kind of cars.” – Diesel.

Well then, with that in mind, we think a quick look at some of the vehicles Diesel drives as Dom Toretto in the films are worth mentioning.

Dom’s Charger

The 1970 Dodge Charger Diesel mentioned is a modified Dodge Charger the character Dom Toretto and his father built. Made with a supercharger, they cranked up the 1970’s Charger to generate 900 horsepower. In the film, Dom claims to have never driven it, because it “scares the **** out of [him].”

Other Dodge vehicles driven by Dom are variations of his 900-hp Charger, a maroon Dodge Charger Daytona (recently brought back from the dead by Dodge), and an armored version of the Charger during the final fight in Fate of the Furious, turning it into a rocket-powered Ice Charger. As fans would know, Dodge vehicles have been an icon of the film series, and with the Dodge SRT Demon in the film, it was a perfect combination of hype and horsepower. If only we could get some of the mods we’ve seen in the films today.
