Fiat-Chrysler created the Voyager to lure minivan buyers who need a low-cost minivan solution. The 2020 trims, the Voyager L and LX replace the entry-level Pacifica L and Pacifica LX, costing $250 less than the previous 2019 Pacifica models. Chrysler has revamped the trim arrangement and has held the line on the starter Pacifica pricing.
The Pacifica Touring, for 2020, becomes the base retail for the Pacifica model, and that makes the Touring Plus go away. CarsDirect.com has found that 2020 minivan has a base Touring trim that will cost $34,990 (plus destination fee). That’s the same price that the 2019 Touring Plus is going for.
In 2019, the trims for the Pacifica were Pacifica L, LX, the Limited, fleet-only Touring, Touring Plus, Touring L, and Touring L Plus. Those first three iterations have become Voyagers L, LX, and LXi — the fleet-only 2019 Pacifica Touring has become the fleet-only 2020 Voyager LXi. So we’ll recap the entire price lineup to make it more transparent:
The Voyager L is priced at $28,480 (plus destination fee) (which is $250 less than the 2019 Pacifica L). The Voyager LX, $31,290 (plus destination fee) ($250 less than the 2019 Pacifica LX). The Voyager LXi (fleet), $34,490 (plus destination fee) which is $500 less than fleet-only 2019 Pacifica Touring, which is now-retired.
The Pacifica Touring is $34,990 (plus destination fee) (which is the same price as the now-retired 2019 Pacifica Plus). The Pacifica Touring L, $38,240 (plus destination fee) (which is $50 less than in 2019). The Pacifica Touring L 35th Anniversary, $40,230 (plus destination fee) ($75 less than in 2019).
The Pacifica Touring L Plus, $41,040 (plus destination fee) ( which is $100 less than in 2019). The Pacifica Touring L Plus 35th Anniversary vehicle, $42,335 (plus destination fee) (which is $225 less than in 2019). The Pacifica Limited, $45,940 (plus destination fee) (which is $250 less than in 2019) and the Pacifica Limited 35th Anniversary, $46,735 (plus destination fee) (and that’s $150 less than in 2019).
Fiat-Chrysler has rationalized the offerings, in part because of the absence of advanced technology features on the Voyager trims. Voyager infotainment has a seven-inch Uconnect touchscreen. The Voyager LXi becomes the fleet model, sparing the Pacifica nameplate that ignominy.
There is the driver assistance tech in Voyagers, which will be limited to the cost-extra rear park assist, rear cross-traffic detection, and blind-spot monitoring. All Voyager and Pacifica models share the same sheet metal. It also has the same 287-horsepower Pentastar V6 and nine-speed transmission.
The 2020 Chrysler Voyager is replacing the Pacifica L and LX models and is adding an LXi for fleet customers. The standard seven-passenger minivan will start at around $28,000 (plus destination fee). The Voyager is discernible by the new badging on the liftgate.
The family vehicle will keep the Pacifica name. The Pacifica is offered in the Touring, the Touring L, the Touring L Plus, and the Limited trims and it’s also available as a plug-in hybrid as well.
FCA will continue to sell and build the Dodge Grand Caravan, which is the previous generation minivan. The Dodge Grand Caravan will continue to be the least expensive option. Tim Kuniskis, Dodge chief, says there is no permanent end date for the Grand Caravan so long as there is still a high demand, capacity at the plant and the aging vehicle can meet all of the regulatory requirements.
Voyager, Pacifica, and Grand Caravan will be built in Windsor, Ontario, which will be discontinuing the third shift of production in October. Voyager production began in August, and it will be available until late summer.
The Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid continue to reinvent and revolutionize the minivan segment by delivering unprecedented levels of functionality, technology, versatility, bold styling, and safety. Holding the status as the most awarded minivan since 2016 with more than 100 honors and industry accolades, the Pacifica offers class-leading gasoline and hybrid powertrains and nearly 40 new minivan-first features.
The Pacifica Hybrid is the only hybrid minivan in America. It’s the number 1 seller among the 20 vehicles that have PHEV as an option. Pacifica Hybrid attains more than 80 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) in electric-only mode, an all-electric range of more than 30 miles.
The vehicle has more than 100 available security and safety features, there is also a Uconnect Theater rear-seat entertainment system, an exclusive Stow ‘n Go seating and storage. There is an available 4G Wi-Fi and an array of comfort. Chrysler Pacifica is a no-compromise minivan which is ideally suited for today’s families.
Chrysler is the first company to introduce the minivan and FCA US has innovated 115 minivan firsts. The company has sold twice as any other manufacturer over the past 35 years and 14.6 million minivans globally since 1983.
