2017 Kia Sportage

In comparison to the 2016 model, the new 2017 Kia Sportage has gone through a variety of notable changes from exterior styling to increased cargo space. This CUV can comfortably seat up to five adults and even at full capacity, there is plenty of space for cargo.

Engines and Trims
The 2017 Kia Sportage comes in three trims, the base trim (LX), mid-level trim (EX), and top-level trim (SX Turbo). The LX and EX trims come with the standard 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, and the SX Turbo comes with the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine. Both of these engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and have a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.
The standard 2.4-liter engine produces 181 horsepower and up to 175 lb-ft of torque. The engine has a fuel economy 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway as a front-wheel drive model, and 21 mpg in the city 25 mpg on the highway on the all-wheel drive model. The faster 2.0-liter turbo engine generates 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The turbo engine has an average fuel economy of 21/26 city/highway mpg, and the AWD model gets 20/ 23 city/highway mpg.
Active Eco System
A performance feature that helps the Kia Sportage achieve such an excellent fuel economy is the Active Eco System. When activated, the system reduces the the throttle tension proactively controls parts of the engine, and air conditioning system, all of which improve fuel economy. To activate the fuel-saving system, all the driver needs to do is push a button.
The 2017 Kia Sportage has been completely redesigned. The 2017 model has a similar body stance and style, but its exterior parts and features have been upgraded to improve quality and make the Sportage look more modern and sporty. Buyers have the option of eight different color options including black cherry, sparkling silver, and twilight blue.
Standard exterior features on the Kia Sportage that help create this look include a redesigned black honeycomb grille, a rear spoiler and newly designed projector beam headlights and running daytime LED lights. Other standard exterior features include heated rear glass with a timer, variable intermittent windshield wipers and a sound-absorbing front windshield.
In addition to the standard features on all trims, the upper-level Sportage trims have upgraded exterior features for added capabilities. Upgraded options include roof rails, solar control glass, and front LED fog lights. Buyers that want all of the bells and whistles can opt for a sunroof, power liftgate and automatic powered side mirrors with turn signal indicators.
Interior, Tech and Entertainment
The new 2017 Kia Sportage interior has also been redesigned. Kia boasts a more outgoing and comfortable interior style with more space than ever before. The Kia Sportage is loaded with awesome technology and entertainment features. These features include a UVO eservice system (we’ll explain this in just a bit!), a great audio system, and other technology features for convenience purposes.
The UVO e-services system is standard on the Sportage EX and SX Turbo trims and it is an available option on the Sportage LX. UVO e-services is Kia’s subscription-free infotainment system that is compatible with smartphones and it can stream music, navigation, and phone calls through the car’s speakers, and it is compatible with Apple Play and Android Auto. Driver’s and passengers can access the system via the 5-,7- or 8-inch display screen.
Spacious and Comfortable Interior
The base Sportage trim comes in the smooth woven cloth seating, and the two other trims come standard with leather seating. Buyers have the option of a black or gray interior for the Sportage LX and EX trims, and three extra color options if purchasing the Sportage SX Turbo. The spacious interior has 30.7 cubic feet of cargo volume with the rear seats up, and 60.1 cubic feet of cargo volume with them down.
Standard and Upgraded Audio Systems
The standard audio system for the Kia sportage is a six-speaker system that has AM/FM/MP3 and SiriusXM capabilities. The Sportage EX and SX Turbo are equipped with remote keyless entry outlets and a push-button start feature. Buyers of the Sportage EX can upgrade the speaker system to the Harman/Kardon Audio System with subwoofer that is standard on the Sportage SX Turbo.
