2017 Chrysler Pacifica
Introducing the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan, an all-new minivan with technology and engineering that is changing the way people look at minivans. Replacing the Chrysler Town & Country, the new Chrysler Pacifica is one of the most fuel efficient minivans on the market, and in the fall or winter of 2016 a hybrid version of the Chrysler Pacifica will be released.
While minivans tend to have a reputation of being “uncool,” the new Pacifica challenges this reputation with up-to-date technology, plenty of storage, and many exterior and interior features that add style and functionality. The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica lineup currently consists of five different trims -- the LX, Touring, Touring L, Touring L Plus, and the Limited-- and they all have the same engine. A Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is coming to dealerships this fall and that will have a different engine configuration.
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is powered by a 3.6-liter, V6, 287-horsepower engine paired to an automatic nine-speed transmission. The Pacifica's engine and transmission configuration offer best-in-class horsepower (287) and torque (262 lb.-ft.). This engine also provides the minivan with a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds.
Despite the Pacifica's powerful engine, it has an excellent fuel economy. The Pacifica has an averager fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. This fuel economy will increase to 80 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) on the Pacifica Hybrid and the van will be able to travel 30 miles on a single charge!
Pacifica Hybrid Coming Soon
As mentioned, the Chrysler Pacifica lineup will expand in 2016 when the Pacifica Hybrid is added to the lineup. The Pacifica Hybrid is the first-ever hybrid minivan and it is highly anticipated. The van will be powered by a 3.6-liter V-6, a 16-kWh battery pack, and a twin-electric-motor setup that produces 260 horsepower,
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is stacked with unique and convenient exterior features that make it a great vehicle for families. The Chrysler Pacifica is a seven-passenger minivan with two sliding glass doors. The base model comes standard with black accents, capless fuel filler, halogen headlights and incandescent tail lamps The Pacifica rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels and all-season tires. Buyers have the option of nine exterior colors, ranging from bright white to radiant red.
Some exterior options included on some of the upgraded trims are LED projector headlights, halogen fog lights and 20-inch wheels. Buyers also have the option of having Pacifica that has the award-winning tri-panel panoramic sunroof, which offers drivers and passengers the feel of convertible without the hassle. Those that plan on doing some traveling or have equipment to carry might be interested in one of the two available Stow 'n Place roof racks that can carry more than 150 pounds of cargo.
Award-Winning Interior and Entertainment
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is highly rated by Car and Driver and Edmunds. The new minivan has won several awards since its introduction and several of them recognize the Pacifica’s excellent interior. One of the first major awards was given by WardsAuto, which included the Pacifica on their "10 Best Interiors List" and their first-ever "10 Best User Experience List."
Spacious Stow 'n Go Seating
The seven-passenger Pacifica is one of the biggest minivans on the market. The Pacifica is standard with Stow 'n Go seating in the van's second and third rows. Stow 'n Go seating makes it possible for the seats to easily fold down into the floor of the minivan for extra space for cargo. However, when the seats are in use, the compartment that would hold seats, can be used as storage. But even when all of the seats are in use, there is still 32.3 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the third-row seat.
Entertainment and Tech
As the newest minivan on the market, the Pacifica has excellent entertainment and tech features. All Pacifica models are equipped with rearview cameras that display on the minivan's 5- or 8.4-inch touchscreen. All of the Pacifica models are equipped with active noise cancellation and the base model has a 6-speaker stereo system, but some trims are equipped with a 13-speaker Alpine system or a 20-speaker Harman Kardon system. Music can be played through the AM/FM radio, SiriusXM radio, USB or auxiliary hookups or the Bluetooth system.
Unique Convenience Features
There are a variety of ways buyers can customize their new van. Parents that like to keep things clean might want to invest in the new Pacifica that is equipped with a Stow ‘n Vac integrated vacuum. People using the minivan to haul cargo might want the tech feature that allows drivers to open the liftgate and sliding glass doors with that open with the kick of a foot. There is also a beautiful panoramic sunroof that gives the minivan a convertible-feel, but without the hassle.
Safety, Warranty and Pricing
Above Standard Safety
The 2017 Pacifica scored a "good" rating in all five of the IIHS crash safety tests, and in return the Pacifica was rated an IIHS "Top Safety Pick+." In addition to the Pacifica's sturdy and firm frame, the minivan has over 100 safety features to help keep the driver and passengers safe at all times. A few of these features include emergency braking assist, stability and traction control, passenger airbag sensing detection. Post collision safety system, collision warning, parking assist options are also available safety options.
Warranty and Pricing
The price for the base model (LX) begins at $28,595 and goes as high as $42,495 for the Pacifica Limited. Prices for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid have not yet been released, but it will be eligible for a federal tax credit.
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is backed by a 3-year or 36,000-mile basic warranty, and a 5-year or 60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty.
